Pbm dma sync timeout

Hello,
I am working with a device driver for a high speed PCI ADC board, that works well on all sun computers except a sunblade 2500 server. On any system except a sunblade 2500 server, I can keep acquiring data for days together without any problem. However on a sunblade 2500, the computer hangs within a few minutes after starting the acquisition.
In kadb, the command $<msgbuf displays the following message just prior to the crash:
pcisch1 (pci@1c,600000): pbm dma sync 4000e781a1e, 40000 00000000 timeout
The (pci@1c,600000) refers to my PCI ADC board.
What does this message mean and what can I do to fix this problem?
thanks for helping

Hello Vitaly Filatov,
thank you for your response. Here is the info you wanted.
On Ultra 60 (where my driver works fine)
uname -srvmpi produces the following output:
SunOS 5.9 Generic_117171-07 Sun4u sparc sunw, ultra-60
and .version proudces the following output:
Release 3.31 Version 0 created 2001/7/25 20:31
OBP: 3.31.0 2001/7/25 20:31
On Sunblade 2500 where my driver crashes, uname produces
sunos 5.9 Generic_117171-07 sun4u sparc sunw, sun-blade-2500
and .version produces
Release 4.13.5 created 2004/5/27 17:31
OBP: 4.13.5 2004/5/27 17:31 sunblade 2500, sunfire v250
OBDIAG: 4.13.5 2004/5/27 17:33
Please note that due to the very high speed acquisition rate of the ADC board, DMA is used to transfer data from ADC onboard memory to user space.
thanks

• Change pacman sync timeout

Guys, sorry if the answer is overly obvious, but I've spent a couple of days searching the forums, the wiki, google, and in the config files for how to change the sync timeout in pacman, but can't find what I'm looking for. Perhaps I'm using the wrong search terms, or looking in the wrong places, but not sure.
Anyway, when trying to sync the system with the package mirrors using pacman, there is currently a delay of what seems like 4 to 5 minutes for each mirror that is not available. I'm wanting to change that delay to something more like a minute or so if there's no problem in doing that.
Do any of you know where that timeout period can be changed?
Thank you.

don't know if changing the timeout is possible, but delays to skip a non-responding mirror of more then 10 seconds are bad.
- how many mirrors do you have enabled and did you check them against http://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/
normally having 3 or 4 mirrors (1 primary, rest for backup) enabled is more then enough
- what Xfer command are you using ?

Hi all,

I hope the above is readable. I'm concerned with the very high number of Waits and Timeouts, particulary around the log file sync event. From reading around I suspect that the disk our redo log sits on isn't fast enough.
1) Is this conclusion correct, are these timeouts excessively high (70% seems high...)?
2) I see high waits on almost every other event (but not timeouts), is this pointing towards an incorrect database database setup (give our very high loads of 160 executes second?
Any help would be much appreciated.

It looks like your disk storage can't keep up with the volume of I/O requests from your database.
The first few thing need to look at, what're IO intensive SQLs in your database. Are these SQLs doing unnecessary full table scan?
Find out the hot blocks and the objects they belong.
Check v$session_wait view.
Is there any other suspicious activity going on in your Server ? Like other program other than Oracle doing high IO activities? Are there any core dump going on?

get directory listning and gets the same problem on the background.
Firewall disabled. WIFI, cabel internet, all tested. I dont have the problem with non-azure FTP Hosts.
What can I do to make it work?

Hi,
First, we need to ensure that this is azure side or googsync issue, I try to use this tool to sync the azure ftp site with my local, it runs as except, I am not familiar with googsync, I don't know the limit size of the files to sync, please
try to create a clean azure web site to test, if you encounter the same issue, please try to get help from goodsync support:

• NFS write error: on host (10.10.10.10 (the disk array): Not Owner).

A disk array is attached to the Sun OS 5.8 server through NFS and is used for the storage of the iPlanet Message server's message store. There are warnings for this NFS volume: NFS write error: on host (10.10.10.10 (the disk array): Not Owner). What does this mean?
During the restart of the solaris server, this warning messaging repeated endlessly on the screen with a white backgroud.
I had to use Stop-A to stop it, and then, panic and dump occured.
During the startup, a message was "consistent dma sync timeout." What does this mean?
After the server restarted, the NFS warnings are still there.
The server is Solaris 8 on SunFire 480.
What could the problems be? How to solve them?

Thanks.
Let me clarify the situation here:
Only the mailboxes are on the NFS volume and shared by the two mail servers. -
msg-instance/store/mboxlist and msg-instance/store/user are located locally. ONLY msg-instance/store/partition/primary is on the NFS volume and shared between the two mail servers.
So, would this still be a problem?
And, yes, the mailsvr user id exists on the IBM NAS which provides disk arrays for this NFS volume. Do I need grant particular rights to this user on NAS? Do I need to do something on the NFS server which, I think it is the Sun server?
Thanks again.

• Sync Invoke timeout, how to set?

I am trying to use the Orabpel to invoke a long running synchronous web services. What is the default timeout second? How do i make it longer?
Thanks.

There is a parameter in the BPEL console>Manage BPEL domain that is used to configure the sync timeout from the perspective of the BPEL PM. The specific property you should be looking for is sync-max-wait-time.
If you are invoking this service through the HTTP/SOAP layer, then you might need to configure the HTTP server to increase the timeout. This is not needed if you initiate the BPEL process from the console or the API delivery service API.

• FPGA DMA Size Allocation

Hi all,
My application involves grabbing images from a 3-taps, 16-bit camera using FlexRIO. The PXI controller I am using is Windows-based while the FlexRIO module that I have is a PXI-7954 + NI 1483 adapter. The size of the image I am grabbing is 2560 x 2160, U16 and the clock cycle is 100 MHz. I've been trying for over a week and up to today, I still am not able to get the image from the camera as I kept on getting the DMA Write Timeout error. Right now, the DMA size in the FPGA is set at 130k but whenever I tried to increase this further, I get a compilation error. I've tried to have the host program to grab 100k data points from the FPGA DMA at every milisecond but it seems that, I am capped at about 10-15ms. Perhaps, Windows has its own limitation...
Attached is the program that I am using, modified from the LabVIEW shipped example. Please advice, how do move forward from here? or, is it possible to further increase the DMA buffer size up 10x higher than the current limit?

Hi Shazlan
Apologies for taking so long to reply to you.
You are correct in saying that the latest driver is IMAQ 4.6.4 and this can be downloaded from our website if you have not done so already.
If you have already installed the IMAX 4.6.4 driver, has this managed to resolve your issue?
Also, have you tried to run the compilation again and obtained a report outlining the problems?
As a side note - I have been looking into the possibility of downloading some sort of driver for the Samos camera you are using from Andorra. While National Instruments have not created a driver for this device, Andorra do have a Software Development Kit (SDK) which they say works with LabVIEW. You may find it useful to have this so that you no longer have to write the driver yourself. This may then save resources on the FPGA.
Keep me updated on your progress and I will continue to look into this issue for you.

• ITunes sees my iPhone 4S but will not sync!

I have a 64G iPhone 4S. When I plug the phone into my Mac Book Pro, iTunes recognizes my phone and begins to sync but NEVER actually syncs. It times out and say that iTunes is unable to sync with phone. I have tried everything that I know and everything that two Apple tech people know. Uninstalled iTunes, reset and restored the iPhone. Apple sent me a new phone and it still doesn't work!! My wife's iPhone 4 syncs fine with the same computer. I have even tried syncing my 4S with a different computer and it does the same thing. I even took my Mac to two other Internet/network sources to see if the routers or network settings was the issue and it still doesn't sync! Someone please give me some tips!
Thanks,
DB

I don't know if this will help but it just fixed my iPhone 4 that was getting error messages and refusing to sync.
Sounds weird but it has worked for others with syncing problems too.
Connect your phone to iTunes by USB and let it go through its sync timeout thingy.
After that, select your iPhone icon in the left hand panel in iTunes, scroll down to the bottom of the Summary page (main window) and uncheck 'sync with this iPhone over wi-fi'.
Next, check the box to enable 'Manually manage music and videos'.
Now click Apply and see if it goes through the motions. (Obviously, with nothing manually checked it won't copy any apps, videos or music on to the iPhone, and the sync process might happen quite fast)
If you don't get an error this time, you might have fixed it. If so, to finish the procedure, uncheck the manual sync option and click the Apply button again.
It's up to you whether you leave the iTunes wi-fi connect option off.
There seems to be a glitch with iTunes and iOS 5.1. It was made even worse in the upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 a few days ago. But I am no techy, so that's JMO.
Hope that helps, but is a long shot for you with a new phone.

• V880 CPU timneout / dump errors

We have a V880 with 8x1.2GHz CPU's we just purchased.
And we are having some CPU problems.
On arrival CPU's 7 & 8 failed due to timeouts. We received a new RMA from Sun for a 2x1.2GHx mem/board.
Last night we had the same problem occur:
Complained about cpu3 and dumped(panic[cpu3]/thread=3001b87d760: panic sync timeout
dumping to /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s1, offset 1718222848I) pulled that cpu module and the system was fine after that
Then overnight we had another problem:
Looks like our system rebooted last night due to a failure on cpu 5.

• Why do my songs and audio books keep getting erased when I add a new book? Now some books will not play and the iPod does not keep track of where I was when I pause a book, leave for music and then go back!

About a month ago I added some new audio books to my iPod Classic and then after disconnecting, I discovered EVERYTHING had been erased.
I had to restore through my iTunes but then I could not load my music back on.
I uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes and completely reformated the iPod drive.
I successfully got my music and books back on but then added a new book two days ago only to discover everything got erased AGAIN!!!
Of course, my 1 Year Warranty was up about a week before the first incident.....
I formatted the iPod again, uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes (it was freezing during sync) and downloaded all my music and books again.
Now I have several books that will not play (they play on iTunes and they played on the iPod before all these events) and the iPod does not keep track of where I was in a book when I have to stop and go to something else.
Does anyone know what is going on with this thing??? I have a 5th Gen Video and in all the years I've had it, I've NEVER had problems like this!
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to get my iPod Classic up and running properly again?
Thanks.

When iTunes/iPod sync process failed due to timeout, the iPod, has only the initilaised filesytem structure at the start of the Sync.
The timeout failure could be due to
Bad hardisk - do the iPod disk diagnostic, refer to this excellent post by tt2
Slow USB port or resource - Dont use any USB hub, disconnect all other USB devices while syncing
Timeout due to Antivirus or other plugins - disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus or monitoribng software if you are syncing.
Preferably stop doing other things while syncing this ancient device, which the latest iTunes designer, think will soon be extinct.
Have a nice day!

• Dequeue same message twice in topic mode.

I have written a concurrent consumer program to consume AQ's message. The queue is a multiple consumer queue, and i just created one subscriber on it. Then i started 10 threads to dequeue messages from that queue. when all messages are consumed I found that some messages are consumed twice. Is there any tips for this problem?
Thanks very much.
The dequeue log is as follows:

This issue looks like Bug: 13729601
(from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/docs/aiasoarelnotesps5-1455925.html)
The dequeuer returns the same message in multiple threads in high concurrency environments when Oracle database 11.2 is used. This means that some messages are dequeued more than once. For example, in Oracle SOA Suite, if Service 1 suddenly raises a large number of business events that are subscribed to by Service 2, duplicate instances of Service 2 triggered by the same event may be seen in an intermittent fashion. The same behavior is not observed with a 10.2.0.5 database or in an 11.2 database with event10852 level 16384 set to disable the 11.2 dequeue optimizations.
Workaround: Perform the following steps:
Log in to the 11.2 database:
CONNECT /AS SYSDBA
Specify the following SQL command in SQL*Plus to disable the 11.2 dequeue optimizations:
SQL> alter system set event='10852 trace name context forever,
level 16384'scope=spfile;
Restart the database.

Regards,
Will

Australia and the AP seems to be in the correct country. The Operational Status is "REG" on both AP's.

• Error running MusicDB sample

Hi, I've just installed MEP and I'm following the installation guide.
When I try to run the MusicDB client on WTK emulator I get this error:
Sync failed: UnExpected Status:400
In admin panel I have this log. What's wrong?
Thanks in advance, Marco
[UPDATE]
I've found the problem is database related.
This is what I get in synchronica.log:
Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build b05-p01 (04/27/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException
Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Table 'gwdb.GW_CLIENTMAPPING' doesn't exist
Error Code: 1146
Call: SELECT PRINCIPAL, SYNCSOURCE, LUID, GUID, SYNCMODIFIED, DIGEST, FOLDER FROM GW_CLIENTMAPPING WHERE ((PRINCIPAL = ?) AND (SYNCSOURCE = ?))
So I suppose the install script was unable to create one or more tables.
I'm using MySQL 5.0.60 on Linux

I've MusicDB sample running finally!
The problem was that: MySQL has a known bug and can't handle indexes bigger than a certain size.
When server charset is set to utf8 it's easy to reach this limit and so did the installation script.
Using latin1 charset installation process was able to create all needed tables correctly.
Hope can help.
