PC-Mac issues with PDF multimedia created in Acrobat X

I created a slideshow in Lightroom and exported it to pdf. I brought it into Acrobat and added a few slides in the beginning, plus sound that starts at the first Lightroom slide (and the Lightroom slides autoplay, presumably this was a setting in Lightroom that carried over, since the slides I added don't?). This all works fine on my PC with Reader.
I need this to work on a Mac. I don't know what OS, but the person has downloaded Reader X and reports that the sound player doesn't appear on that slide, and the Lightroom slides don't autoplay. I don't have a Mac to test with, so are there settings in her Reader that can be made so that these two things will work? She can play the source mp3 file separately.
BTW, I created the mp3 from my own WAV in an old edition of Audition, if that makes any difference. Also, I have since found the autoplay setting in Edit>Preferences, at least in the PC version.

You should NEVER expect that Apple's Preview application will be able to give the quality of preview you'll see in Acrobat. Apple chooses to implement or not implement the parts of the PDF specification that they choose.
You should complain about this in the Apple user forums because they developed the application, not Adobe.

  • Issue with PDF

    Hi All,
    i facing issue with PDF format .
    we developed smartform and we are using standard program SAPF150D2.
    we did translation for that form englsih to  EURO.
    Now if we  see output in OTF format , it showing correct way in EURO.
    but , i we see same layout in PDF format,
    Insted of showing ( ' )this letter, it is showing # in the PDF layout.
    Is there any pointer to know soultion for this.
    Thanks in advance,
    regards,
    JBR

    This is likely a problem with the way those links are coded in the PDF file, so the file may have to be saved again using different settings to make it work with PDF Viewers other than the Adobe Reader.

  • Printing a pdf document created in Acrobat Pro 9.0

    Solved the problem of printing a pdf document created using Acrobat Pro 9.0 with SL - tried many different things form adobe etc and by accident discovered while in Acrobat you have to select ADVANCED in Print then click onto SAVE AS IMAGE in next box and then OK and all prints as it should. Just thought others may want to know this if they have had problems 1

    I'm reviewing your post and while I see a fix, I can't locate the problem that you may have originally posted. Since I'm having issues, I'm hoping your's were the same.
    Sometimes when I print an Adobe Acrobat 9.0 document, most of the printed word fail to print out (although they are in the PDF document). Almost all graphical elements print and the occasional line of text--but most text is missing. Was ti your issue?
    Thanks.

  • Is there a licensing limit on PDF's created in Acrobat and imported into FormsCentral?

    Hello,
    I have been looking at the forums and also chatted with someone from tech support. I have created a PDF in Acrobat Professional. I have not enabled Reader Extensions on the file. I imported it into FormsCentral and added a submit button. To test it, I filled it out and saved it successfully using Reader 9. I also submitted it successfully using the submit button. I do not yet have a paid FormsCentral account, but see that the Plus account allows 5000 submissions per form. This is not a licensing limit, but a space limit (see http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1382). I also understand there is a 500 use licensing limit on PDF's that have Reader Extensions enabled. Does that apply to an imported PDF with no Reader Extensions enabled? Please clarify.
    Thanks!

    Hello Gen,
    Thank you for your reply. I have seen many discussions on these forums, as well as elsewhere on the internet regarding Adobe's licensing limit on fillable PDF forms created in Acrobat that have Reader Extensions enabled. We are only allowed to extract 500 responses from Reader Extended PDF's, according to this limit.
    I wanted to confirm if this is applicable to a PDF I create in Acrobat Pro (without the Reader Extensions enabled), then imported and submitted through FormsCentral using a Plus account. You are saying that FormsCentral adds the Reader Extensions. Does that mean that the PDF is now subject to Adobe's limit of 500 on Reader Extended PDF's? Or does the fact that the PDF form is submitted through FormsCentral eliminate the limit of 500?
    I just want to be sure that we can go ahead and send out a fillable PDF through FormsCentral without worrying we are exceeding the licensing limit.
    Thanks again!

  • How do you rotate the PDF you created in Acrobat but keep everything on the page from rotating?

    How do you rotate the PDF you created in Acrobat but keep everything on the page from rotating with it?
    I made a very complex form, but have decided it would be best to have it as a portrait instead of landscape.
    Of course, when I rotate it, everything on the form is turned sideways.

    Assuming that you created the form fields in Acrobat and those were just imposed on top of a document that you created from another application you might try these steps:
    1. Create a new PDF in landscape from the original document.
    2. Copy the form fields from the previous document to the new document.
    3. Move the fields to the proper locations.
    At least I think this has a chance of working. You might give it a try on a single page or such.

  • Creating interactive PDFs with page turn,issue with PDF

    I recently watch a video on adobe tv titled "indesign : creating interactive PDFs with page turn and flash animation". The video was great,simple to follow with great results, I was able to create a document with interactive page turns that was viewable in a web browser,the next step was to then create the same document but be able to view it in PDF format. I followed the above mentioned video and everything worked apart from one issue once I exported the indesign file out as an interactive PDF it opened up in adobe acrobat pro with no problem but when I went to turn the page it would lag and slow down to the point were it was almost impossible to turn the page, the page turning didn't seem to flow as well as when viewing it in a web browser. The document I am creating is a catalogue and I am happy with the interactive version for the web but I am looking at putting the catalogue on a CD/ USB and need it to open and work with PDF, it would be a great help if anyone could advise me on the reason why the interactive page turning runs so poor in PDF format. I am currently running on a very powerful computer with the adobe CS5 master suit.
    Any help would be much appreciated

    The page flipping is an SWF effect, so essentially you now have an entire SWF embedded inside a PDF.
    If you forget about this garish effect (which, I can guarantee you, by next year will be "so 2012") you can send out a standard PDF which can be easily viewed on otherwise sub-standard computers, and using very straightforward PDF readers, such as the ones currently available for the iPad and its clones.

  • PDF files created in Acrobat Pro X for Mac will not print correctly on Windows - text is missing

    I recently created a PDF file with pictures and texts in Acrobat Pro X. However, when I send it to my coworkers (who work on Windows computers), the printed file contains only images, and no text. I am using Century Gothic - a font that is installed on these Windows computers. When they open the files, they can see the text and everything exactly as it is meant to be. However, upon printing, the text disappears completely.
    We are using a Konica Minolta Bizhub printer to complete these printouts. When I print from my computer (the Mac), the files print perfectly on this printer. However, when using the same printer, a Windows user cannot print the text in the PDF's.
    Has anyone else run across this problem? I am thinking of trying to embed fonts, however it doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference (since the fonts show up fine on a Windows computer anyways). Is there a known issue with printing PDF's on a Konica Minolta printer?

    The archive format you used embeds all fonts, as does Press and Print type job settings. The standard job settings does not embed all fonts and that might be where the problem was.

  • New to Mac - Issues with imported Excel Docs

    Imported my Excel docs from my PC and they made the trip but when I open them, some don't work properly. I have some billing statements that I made with Excel templates. Whenever I open and try to save them, I get an error message:
    Users/JaneDoe/Documents/Private Practice/Billing Statements/Jones 2 16 05 MAC.numbers
    I'm having some issues with Word documents that have tables in them also.
    I love my new MAC but have many business forms that I need to use. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your answer, I suspected as much. I've been thinking about this and have decided that since those are historical files and not working files, I'll just leave them alone and create new billing statements using Mac. It's certainly easy enough to do.
    The Word documents, though, are a different story. I've scanned pages out of some manuals and many of the pages are questionnaires with tables to indicate answers. Some documents are multiple pages and every other page I view is blank. It's difficult and sometimes impossible to delete the blank page or move the table up. If I can't salvage these, I'll have to go back into the manuals and scan the pages all over again.
    And I don't want to partition my hard drive, run Windows parallel or invest in Office for Mac because that all defeats the purpose of my transition to a Mac in the first place - ease of use.
    Thanks again.

  • Issues With PDF Template Mapping

    Hi all,
    Oracle BI Publisher for Windows 10.1.3.2.1
    Oracle Publisher Desktop 10.1.3.2.1
    Adobe Acrobat 5.0.5
    Broswer IE 6.0.29
    I have created a report based on a single database table (DEMO.PRODUCTS) but am experiencing problems when I try and map the form fields in PDF Template to my sample XML file.
    I created a PDF Template and uploaded this template to my Layout. This PDF Template has two form fields on it (PRODUCTNAME and UNITPRICE, which incidentally are the names of the database columns I want them to map to).
    I have also uploaded my sample XML data file and therefore have access to the Map Form Fields button on my report definition. However, when I click on the button a new window opens with the Map PDF Form Fields and a dialog to "Click on each highlighted...." and then hangs. When I close the window I receive a message about an Adobe Acrobat error.
    If I try and do the same thing in Firefox then I receive a message in the JavaScript Console:
    Acrobat Database Connectivity Built-in Functions Version 5.0
    Acrobat EScript Built-in Functions Version 5.0
    Acrobat Annotations / Collaboration Built-in Functions Version 5.0
    TypeError: app.execDialog is not a function opened this in Adobe Acrobat
    Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Gary.

  • [Applet]Printing issue with pdf files on Xerox 4595

    Greetings !!
    I'm trying to print to a Xerox 4595 printer from a Windows XP station (limited account) using a Java Web Applet.
    This applet generates pdf files which have to be printed.
    The Xerox 4595 uses a printing queue that is detected by the Applet.
    The problem is the following: usually when printing a simple local file from this computer there is a box that asks you your login to let you create a job and then print.
    When using the Java Applet, there is no way to have this print box displayed. We have the Java Print Dialog but once clicked on "Print" there is no box displayed to pass the login to the printer and let us print.
    Is anyone already worked with Xerox 4595 and experienced such issue ?
    How can I, using the Java language and modify the Applet, ask the printer to send me the dialog box asking for the login ? Without this login no jobs are accepted and we can't print the generated pdf files.
    I looked on the printer queue settings and it seems that the Xerox uses the IPP to communicate with the local computers in the office.
    The server from which the Applet is used is a openSuSE Linux Web server (apache2)
    How come using Linux workstations any pdf files are printed (on shared printers such HP laserjet) and under windows there is jammed characters and sheet feed instead ?

    A lot can depend upon which app your are using on your tablet device, the same applies to computer programs but apps are much worse.
    Which app are you using?
    I would try the free Adobe Mobile Reader. This product seems to support more features than other apps.
    There could even be issues with the type of tablet you are using. The Apple line may work better then Android devices since there is QA check and approval by Apple.
    Another factor is the how the PDF was created.
    How well are the maps displayed on your laptop or desktop? Try different values of zoom.

  • Problem with PDF files created by Indesign

    PDF files created by Adobe Indesign come up as blank pages whereas PDF files created by Mac OS X or Apple's Pages display OK. Is there a difference in the way PDF files are created?

  • Preview Issue with PDF

    I tried to view the document http://www.laser.org.uk/docs/uploaded/Clubssigned_up_for_2010AyL.pdf and the default viewer (Preview) shows just shows blocks where their should be text. However Adobe Reader (which I hate) shows the document fine. I cannot find any settings relevant that I have nt tried in Preview and cannot find anywhere to report it to Apple as a bug.
    Anybody any ideas ?

    I definitely have Calibri - came with Office for Mac and is the font I have set my "normal" style to use (plus my default e-mail font, etc.). I have checked in FontBook and Calibri is there, no duplicate fonts and I validated the font and it is all fine (regular, italic, bold, bold italic). My Calibri works fine in PDF's because I create a fair number of documents in Word (for Mac) and "print" them to PDF and Calibri is the main font I use.
    What is weird is that the document has the font embedded anyway (at least the subset it needs), yet when Adobe Reader displays the document the fonts look nothing like Calibri.
    I can open the file fine in Photoshop - but as with Reader, the font it uses is not Calibri.
    Also, Preview done snot see the "blocks" where the text should be as text - as I cannot select them with the text cursor but only with the select (image/rectangle) tool. I can't see a way to attach an image to a port here but the blocks I get a like lines of giant black pixels (rectangles the size of a character) where the text should be, some fully black, then fading to lighter greys across the word (some starting black, fading to light grey, others starting light grey building to black, a few all solid black). Sorry for the lousy description.
    I have double checked a PDF I created (using Word/Office for Mac) and it had two embedded subset fonts, Calibri and Calibri bold and it displays fine in both Preview and Reader and the font is very different from that Reader/Photoshop show for the problem document. Although in my document the "encoding" was set to "built-in" whilst the problem document has encoding set to "ansi"
    Many thanks for your attention to my question.

  • Form automation with PDF's created in Livecycle

    Hi,
    I'm having a issue getting the fields from a PDF file created in Livecycle. I get the following error once I access a field:
    Element not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002802B (TYPE_E_ELEMENTNOTFOUND))
    Is it possible to use the OLE API's to retreive the fields in the Livecycle form? Here is the code in question:
    Public Function FillForm(ByVal patient As clsPatient, ByVal isNew As Boolean, Optional ByVal CompletionDate As Date = #1/1/1900#) As String Implements iPDFProcess.FillForm
    Dim ds As New DataSet
    Dim dr As DataRow
    Dim NewFile As String
    Dim formApp As AFORMAUTLib.AFormApp
    Dim bOK As Boolean
    Dim avDoc As Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc
    Dim pdDoc As Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc
    Try
      'Set the mouse icon to display an hourglass
      System.Windows.Forms.Cursor.Current = System.Windows.Forms.Cursors.WaitCursor
        If isNew = False Then
            ds = GetData(PatientId, CompletionDate)
            If ds.Tables(0).Rows.Count > 0 Then
                dr = ds.Tables(0).Rows(0)
            End If
        End If
        avDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
        bOK = avDoc.Open(lTemplateFileName, "NB")
        avDoc.Maximize(1)
        formApp = CreateObject("AFormAut.App")
        If isNew = True Then  'Only fill Demographic data
            formApp.Fields("PatientId").value = patient.PatientId
            formApp.Fields("DateCompleted").value = Format(Now(), "M/dd/yyyy")
            formApp.Fields("PatientName").value = patient.LastName & ", " & patient.FirstName
         end if
         The rest of the code is not shown to save room.
    As soon it tried to access a field I get the above error. I also have a problem with the following code in another section of my code (for another PDF form). Here is a segment of the code:
        avDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")
        bOK = avDoc.Open(lTemplateFileName , "NB")
        avDoc.Maximize(1)
        formApp = CreateObject("AFormAut.App")
        acroForm = formApp.Fields
        If isNew = True then
            For Each f As AFORMAUTLib.Field In acroForm
                Select Case f.Name
                    Case "PatientName"
                        f.Value = patient.LastName & ", " & patient.FirstName
                    Case "Gender"
                        f.Value = patient.Gender
                    Case "DateCompleted"
                        f.Value = format(Now(), "M/dd/yyyy")
                    Case "PatientId"
                        f.Value = patient.PatientId
                    Case "DOB"
                        f.Value = patient.BirthDate
                End Select
            Next
        Else
    It always passes right over the loop as it it can't find the fields. What up with that. Thanks for any help that you can provide.

    Apparently the IAC api's will not work with livecycle forms. I just recreated the pdf file in Acrobat alone, and it now works. But this leaves me with other issues such as:
    1. How can I represent a Date picker field?
    2. A few of our forms created in Livecycle use dynamic forms. I.E. Hiding pages until a checkbox is selected for example. Is it possible to get similar results with just Acrobat/reader?
    Thanks for any suggestion or comments.

  • Odd preview issue with pdf

    I have a pdf I created from Quark 7. There are a number of items with .5pt rules or boxes around them (for example, business card sized ads with a half point rule). Some rules show fine and others require me to zoom in very close to see them. If I zoom in at different levels (say 100%, 150%, etc.) I may see the rule on one side only, then at a different zoom level the rule I see disappears and I see one or two of the other sides. Is this a bug of Acrobat? I'm using 9, but have seen this in earlier versions as well. Since I just sent a long document off to a printer that has this occurring, I want to make sure the rule will show and not have to fix the page later on.
    Anyone know why this is happening. (I'm viewing PDF on iMacG5, but same thing happens on intel Macbook and my client's older G4.
