(PCI-6014) AI_VRead function returns only -5V~+5V ranges.
After installing the PCI-6014 board, The Mesuremant Automation program work well between -10V~+10V range(Analog Input). But When I ran AIonePoint example, AI_VRead() function returns only -5V ~ +5V. It returns only 5V if I voltage more then 5V. In fact, I want to use this card in range -10V ~ + 10V. What can I do?
Thank you for seeing this.
You need to use a gain of -1.

Oscilloscope trigger on PCI 6014
Hi...
I tried to build triggered oscilloscope on PCI 6014 for educational purpose. First I build nontriggered Oscope13.vi and it works for me satisfactory. I can change oscillograme with time/sec and volts/sec, and measure values with cursors.
Then I want to trigger that Oscope13.vi with Analog SW Trigger.vi that I found in Cont Acq&Graph Voltage-Analog SW Trigger.vi example as subVi.
I built Oscope14.vi.
Now nothing works as i wanted. Time controls don't change oscillograme and it blinks (some kind of jitter).
Please, can anyone help me to get my nontriggered Oscope13.vi work also in triggered mode.
I work on LabVIEW 8 Full Developement.
Computer: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2,00 GHz 1 GB RAM
Thanx in advance.
Damir MiletaDamir,
first of all, the 6014 is a multifunction data acquisition device, not an oscilloscope.
I don't know where you got that example from as it is not following common implementation style guides.
That being said, i see that your DAQmx read returns an array of waveforms. This datatype contains the raw data and timing information. Your conversion of this to a 2D double array removes that timing information. So i assume that your waveform scaling functions runs rampart and messes things up.

Error: Partition function can only be created in Enterprise edition of SQL Server
By using the Generate Scripts option in SSMS, I've duplicated this DB seven times so far. I do this due to the 10 Gig limit on Sql Express 2012. I was doing this again today. I generated the script, did a search/replace to provide a new DB name for
DB number eight in the series, and then I ran the script to create the DB, causing the error message. I don't remember seeing this error in the past. It's possible I created the first edition of this DB at home, but back then I only had express edition as
I seem to recall (although I did purchase Developer a few months ago).
I don't even know what the Partition function does. I'll try to look that up tonight.
SSMS did create the DB, I just hope the error message doesn't forebode any problems.

GO8A partition function is used when you partition a table. Partitioned tables is a feature that is available only in Enterprise and Developer Edition.
I went through the script, and there are a number of partition functions and partition schemes, but they are not used anywhere, so you should be able to ignore the error.

Issue with running PL/SQL function returning Sql query
hi, I am trying to create a report region by using the option of PL/SQL function returning sql query.
I notice that it's very slow for the report region page to show up. In my PL/SQL function body, there are only 3 steps, first update all the 10 rows of varchar2 fields to null,then insert values to those fields, then select all from the table to show report results. It takes more than 5 minitues for the page to load up, how ever, if i run those steps in SQL*Plus, it only takes a couple of seconds to finish. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
ginaSergio, the codes are as followed,
Declare
q varchar2(32767); -- query
Begin
q := 'select "ID",'||
'"ENTRY NAME","TOTAL","#CM","%CM","#CA",'||
'"%CA", from Info_table';
update info_table
set "TOTAL" = '',
"#CM" = '',
"%CM" = '',
"#CA" ='',
"%CA"=''
where "ID"<=10;
// set all data in column Total to null,there is only 10 rows in the table
update info_Table set Total = vTotal,
"#CM" = vCM
(those variables hold user key-in Text filed value)
where ID = 1;
return q;

Return only one record at a time
I am new to crystal reports so any help would be appreciated. I have a .net app that is a order processing system. When the user is in a record, they want to be able to click on a button an open a crystal report showing only that orders details. I created a crystal report that has the following fields:
Order ID, Product ID, Unit Price, Sell Price, Hours.
The Order ID is the primary key in the database. The report runs fine when clicking the report button in the app, but returns the details for every order in the database. We just need the details of the order that the user is processing. How do I setup the report to only show that order's details? I am using VB 2005 and Crystal v9.
Edited by: sking on Mar 6, 2009 1:12 AMBrian,
Thank you for all your help. I have been able to setup the report to return only one record at a time. In my app, when I click the report button the PDF opens perfectly with only one record. However, when I go to another record and open the PDF it returns the information from the record id that was set as the default parameter value (crReportDocument.SetParameterValue("Orders", 67). How do I get it to return the report for a different record? Here is the code I'm using. I think I'm really close with your suggestions but I'm just missing one step.

Function returning error text validation
Hi,
I have a page where i can insert/update user, organisation, responsible.
Organisation can be nullable.
Only one user at a time can be responsible for a organisation.
To check this responsible validation i made a function returning error text validation as follow:
BEGIN
FOR c IN (SELECT usr_spa
FROM kpi_users
WHERE usr_org_id = :p22_usr_org_id
LOOP
IF upper(:p22_usr_spa) = upper('YES') and upper(c.usr_spa) = upper('YES')
THEN
RETURN 'A user is already responsible for this organisation'||'!';
END IF;
END LOOP;
END;
The validation works fine.
But it goes wrong when i want to insert a new user, without assigning him to an organisation.
I get following message:
ORA-01722: invalid number
ERR-1024 Unable to run "function body returning text" validation.
Can someone please help me solve this problem?
ThanksHi,
try:
BEGIN
FOR c IN (SELECT usr_spa
FROM kpi_users
WHERE usr_org_id = nvl(:p22_usr_org_id,-1)
LOOP
IF upper(:p22_usr_spa) = upper('YES') and upper(c.usr_spa) = upper('YES')
THEN
RETURN 'A user is already responsible for this organisation'||'!';
END IF;
END LOOP;
END;This assumes that :p22_usr_org_id could be null and converts this to -1 (pick another default value if this may exist as an id). It is possible that the statement would otherwise be seen as WHERE usr_org_id = null which is invalid.
or you could do:
BEGIN
IF :p22_usr_org_id IS NOT NULL THEN
FOR c IN (SELECT usr_spa
FROM kpi_users
WHERE usr_org_id = :p22_usr_org_id
LOOP
IF upper(:p22_usr_spa) = upper('YES') and upper(c.usr_spa) = upper('YES')
THEN
RETURN 'A user is already responsible for this organisation'||'!';
END IF;
END LOOP;
END IF;
END;As this would stop the validation running if the :p22_usr_org_id is null.
Or, you could just make your validation conditional on p22_usr_org_id not being null?

When I run the following code
set nocount on
declare @i table(id int identity(1,1) primary key, sDate datetime)
while((select count(*) from @i)<10000)
begin
insert into @i(sDate) select getdate()
end
select top 5 sDate, count(id) selectCalls
from @i

order by count(id) desc
I get the following results.

2014-07-30 14:50:27.557 195
2014-07-30 14:50:27.573 170
As you can see the select getdate() function returned same time up to the milisecon 406 time for the first date value. This started happening when we moved our applications to a faster server with four processors. Is this correct or am I
going crazy?

Returning only records that have no entry in a specific field
Hello,
I'm new to this forum and relatively new to Crystal Reports, so I apologize if this information is "plain as day" somewhere. I've been hunting for this info for quite a while and can't find anything that makes sense!
I am trying to put together a very simple report that will return only records where a certain field is blank.
It is an Access database, in an information management program specific to our type of business. CR 11 software was included with the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), as the reports generated from the LIMS software are in CR. I've learned enough to be able to tweak reports and make some basic reports, but I can't find a simple answer to what I think is a simple question!
I have the report set up to access the following fields in the database: Invoice number, Client name, Due date, Invoice amount, and Payment Received. This will be used as a "cross check" - not as any major accounting tool - as the Payment Received field is simply the date that the payment was received. If no payment has been received, the field is left blank.
I want the report to return ONLY those records where that field is blank (i. e. a list of invoices/clients whose payment has not yet been received).
Ideally, I would also like to be able to return only those records where that field is blank OR within a certain date range (i. e. less than 30 days from the date that the report is run). However, we'll probably only use this report a couple of times a month, so that is not as critical.
I know I need to filter the records according to the Payment Received field, but don't know how to construct a formula that says "just show the fields where there is nothing entered."
Thank you!
BrendaThis is the hardest function to find: IsNull
If isNull(field) then
// if the above fails on a numberic field or text field then see the following two-some databases are picky.
If IsNull(field) or field=0 then //this one maybe needed for a numeric field
If IsNull(field) or field="" // this one maybe needed for a text field
if IsNull(field) or field=<value>
or
if IsNull(field) or field like <value*>
You always want the IsNull statement to be the first statement, and it is especially usefull when testing for not equal
If IsNull(field) or field <> <value> -
On Submit process not firing -report (PL/SQL function returning SQL query)
Can anyone suggest possible causes / solutions for the following problem?
I have a report region that uses a PL/SQL function returning SQL query. The report allows the user to update multiple fields / rows and then click a button to submit the page which should run the On-Submit process to update the database. However the process does not run and I get a 'HTTP404 page cannot be found' error; and when I navigate back using the Back button I cannot then navigate to any other page in my application without getting the same error. The button was created by a wizard selecting the options to submit the page and redirect to a (same) page. The button does not actually have a redirect in its definition but the wizard created a branch to the same page which should work and the button has the text 'submit as SUBMIT' next to it so it appears to be set up correctly.
I have recreated this page several times in my application and I cannot get the On-Submit process to run. However I have created a cut down version of the same page in the sample application on apex.oracle.com at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=4550:1:179951678764332 and this works perfectly so I am at a loss to understand why it does not work in my application. I cannot post any part of the application itself but if anybody would like to check out page 30 of the sample application (Customer Update Test tab) updating the surnames only, using credentials ja, demo, demo this is pretty much what I have got in my application.
Any ideas would be much appreciated?Thanks for the suggestions guys. I have now identified that the problem goes away when I remove the second table from my report query. The original report query retrieved data from two tables and the process was updating only one of the tables. I thought I had approached the task logically i.e. first get the report to display the records from the two tables, then get the process to update the first table and finally to modify the process further to update the second table.
Can anyone point me to an example of multiple row updates on multiple tables using a PL/SQL function returning an SQL query? -

Function returning SQL query for mutiple series in a chart
Hi,
I would like to know if there is a way to specify a single PL/SQL function returning the queries for multiple series in a 2D Line Flash Chart. I have multiple series in my chart that has different values in the where clause. I can write a PL/SQL function that can return all these queries in one shot. Is there anyway that I can specify this function as returning the queries for all the series in the chart?
As an example, assume that I am using the following three queries for the series in my chart:
select deptno, count(*) from emp where deptno = 10 group by deptno
select deptno, count(*) from emp where deptno = 20 group by deptno
select deptno, count(*) from emp where deptno = 30 group by deptno
I can't write a PL/SQL function that returns a query in the multiple series syntax (SELECT link, label, series_1_value [, series_2_value [, ...]]FROM ...) as I am using an aggregate function and my where clause is different for each series.
Thanks,
RupeshHi Roel,
Thanks for your reply. I am already using an analytical function (RATIO_TO_REPORT(COUNT(*)) OVER () ) in my actual report. My problem is that the query for one series differs from the other only in one where clause. I will be able to dynamically able to generate all the queries for all the series in one pl/sql function. But the chart definition screen does not allow us to define a single function that returns queries for the all the series - possibly seperated by some seperator like S1: select.... S2:select and so on.

Incremental encoder: reset counter on pci 6014?
I want to connect an incremental encoder with A, B and Z to a PCI 6014 card. I found some VI's for counting A and B (DAQmx->Counter->Count Digital Events; DAQmx->Counter->Measure Posititon) . However I can't figure out what to do with the Z. Is there a way to reset the counters by Z? (I am using labview 2009)
Thank you very much!Sorry, my fault. I didn't see you have an E-Series device.
Resetting your counter with a digital trigger is possible for Counter/Timer devices but not for your PCI 6014.
You can reset the counter with DAQmx by stopping and starting the task again. You could read your Z index on a digital input, if the input goes high (or low) you could reset the counter.
DAQmx: Count Digital Events with Option to Reset Counter
http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-6576
I think this is the only way for the PCI 6014. Since you have to go through several software layers, the performance goes down a bit. If it is possible, i would recommend to change to a M-Series device...

Using 'Function Returning SQL Query' with Flash charts
I have created a pl/sql function that returns a SQL query as a varchar2 of this form:
select null link
<x value> value
<Series1 y value> Series 1 Label
<Series2 y value> Series 2 Label
<Series3 y value> Series 3 Label
from tablea a
join tableb b
on a.col = b.col
order by <x value>
If I now call the function from a Flash Chart Series SQL box with the Query Source Type set to 'Function Returning SQL Query' like this:
return functionname(to_date('30-sep-2010', 'dd-mon-yyyy'))
it parses correctly and the page is saved; however, when I run the page I don't get any output - nor any error messages or other indication of a problem.
Now, if I call the function in a SQL client, capture the SQL query output using dbms_output and paste that into the Flash Chart Series SQL box - changing the Query Source Type to SQL Query - and save the page it works fine when I run it and returns a multi-series flash chart.
Can anyone suggest either;
1. What have I might have missed or done wrong?
2. Any way to usefully diagnose the problem...
I have tried using the Apex debugger - which is very nice, by the way - but it doesn't provide any info on what my problem might be. I even tried writing my own debug messages from my function using the apex_debug_message package - got nothing...
Thanks,
EricHi Eric,
Try expressing the source as this:
begin
return functionname(to_date('30-sep-2010', 'dd-mon-yyyy'));
end;That works fine for me, and if I take out the begin-end and the trailing semicolon from the return statement I get the same behavior as you.
It does mention in the help for the source (only during the wizard though) that this source type has to be expressed that way, but I agree it would be helpful if the tool would validate for this format when 'Function Returning SQL Query' is used or give some sort of indication of the trouble. Anyway, this should get you going again.
Hope this helps,
John

PL/SQL function returning a SQL Query
Is this only availabe in HTML db or in 10g in general? Where do I find more about this feature?
Thanks in advance,
DenesNot sure what you mean. HTML DB allows to use a PL/SQL function returning a valid SQL query in report regions.
Its just a PL/SQL function returning a string, outside of HTML DB, I guess you can use it wherever it makes sense.
