PDF adjust view size

Hi there!. When saving a PDF file in Illustrator, what should I do so people who opens the file can see the document ALWAYS as "adjust height" view size?
Hope you can help me!
Nat

There is nothing you can do. This is completely out of your control. While you can define a default view for your PDF, the user can override such settings on his own end.

  • Create pdf from html, how to adjust page size

I have a large html file that I need to convert to a pdf. I am able to open the html in acrobat and save as pdf, but I cannot find where to adjust the page size. When I save the html in acrobat, the saved file is still a single page, but when I open the page in reader, then there are page breaks.
How do I adjust the page size and create a single page document?
There is also a header and footer line that I don't want. How do I get rid of those?
    LHH

When you open the window for create PDF from web, select the settings. You can adjust the size and header/footer there.

  • When I scan and save a document as a pdf. It is saved as a huge document. How do I adjust the size of a saved pdf?

I recently purchased a new computer. Now when I scan a document and save it as a pdf document; the size of the file is nearly 10 times the usual size. The size of 2 pages is so large that I can not send as an attachment. How do adjust the size of the pdf document?

Sending e-documents as email attachments is anyway never a good idea; use a file sharing service (Acrobat.com, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, ..) to upload the doc, then send the shared download link via email.
As for the scanned PDF size, see the earlier posts.

  • PDF reduce file size filters and CMYK to RGB conversion

This doesn't seem to be on-topic to this forum, but I'm hoping someone here has the expertise to answer my question. We have some scripts which take a series of press-quality pdfs and use the "reduce file size" filter to prepare them for viewing on the web. We run these scripts on a 10.4 machine, and the filter works very well, reliably reducing file sizes of all sorts of pages.
When we tried to upgrade the machine, we discovered that the quartz filtering has changed in 10.5 and 10.6. While it's usually an improvement, getting maybe 5-10% better compression ratios, it has become unreliable in that about 5% of my files fail spectacularly -- they blow up to 3, 4, 5, 6 times the original size.
The other thing that happens is that the 10.5/10.6 filters munge the colors up. I found the solution to this -- in the ColorSynchUtility, make a duplicate of the Reduce File Size filter, and add a Color Management Component called Convert To Profile. This allows me to set a filter that converts the CMYK content to RGB. The problem is that there are about 40 choices of profiles, and it's not at all clear what I should use. Many of them have printer manufacturer's names in them, some say "Adobe", others have cryptic codes (probably referring to various RFCs and schemes). I've tried a couple of the ones that don't look like they are for printers, basically chosen at random. They all produce files of slightly different sizes for the reductions that go well, but on the files that blow up, some filters are better than others. (For example, I have a 5MB page which reduces to 1.4MB with the 10.4 filter, but blows up to 27MB with the "sRGB IE61966-2.1" profile, but only 12MB with the "Adobe RGB" profile.)
    So I have 2 questions:
    1) Is there any way to configure a 10.5/10.6 custom profile so that it behaves as reliably as the 10.4 "stock" PDF Reduce File Size works? It doesn't have to be the most wonderful compression algorithm out there, just so that it never or rarely has a file blow up in size.
    2) For converting press documents to pdfs that are going to go on the web, what is a good "Convert to profile" to use of the 40-some choices on the pull-down menu?

    Cathy,
You have posted your question in a forum dedicated to the Final Cut Studio application Color. It is a very specialized program to grade (adjust) the color in video/film images. We know nothing regarding PDFs.
Have you tried posting this on an Adobe support site?
    Good luck,

  • How to change a pdf's page size, margins and page orientation? Are there available tools to do this?

We are converting Lotus Notes documents to PDF by exporting (printing) them to PDF via a PDF writer but found some content are truncated or cropped. We have to manually re-print to pdf using a different page/paper settings in order to capture the content correctly. Are there any other methods or tools which can automate this step? Would it be possible to change the PDF properties to adjust the page size, etc?
Hope there are some useful tools available as there are thousands of documents that are having this issue. Thank you.

The page size options are limited, but are in the crop tool. If there are no tags or other markup, you can also print to a new PDF and adjust the size in the printer interface -- sometimes the simplest method, but not normally recommended. The rotation can be done in the document menu and then saved. The rotation that is typically on the toolbar are only for the current view and does not save with the PDF. Many of these you can use a batch process to resolve (in AA8 that is under the Advanced>Document Processing). The better method is to setup your Adobe PDF printer to create the correct page size and orientation in the future. You can setup to typically expand to fit, select a paper size, and have the settings set to auto-rotate. The later is based on the text that is found on the page. The margin elimination is also part of the crop tool. Hopefully this at least gives you some things to look at. Unfortunately, the tools get moved around with every version, so you may have to search for the tools.

  • Why FlowLayout - JPane will NOT auto adjust in size?

    Hello java friends,
I don't understand why my little demo program's JPane(use FlowLayout manager) will not adjust the size correctly. When run, I see one row of buttons, which only show 11 of them; the rest are shown on secon row which only visible if I go resize the window. Why is that? Wouldn't FlowLayout manager will auto size the pane? My main frame used the pack() method, so it's up to the pane's preferredsize. Please give me some ideas. Thanks.

            mainFrame.setContentPane(new TemplatePane());

I did read the API doc:
    >>>>
A flow layout arranges components in a left-to-right flow, much like lines of text in a paragraph. Flow layouts are typically used to arrange buttons in a panel. It will arrange buttons left to right until no more buttons fit on the same line. Each line is centered.
    >>>>
My question is why won't it adjust the pane size if the there is more than one line? It did draw the second line for things that won't fit in the first line... just not visible unless the whole window is resized to a bigger view. Can you please provide an explanation?

  • How do I adjust the size of program fonts to accommodate low vision users?

Is it possible to adjust the size of program text to accommodate low vision users, like an enlarge text button or CTRL + zoom text function like in my browser?
I know I am not the first person to approach this issue.  Since PSE 5 the text sizes have been getting smaller each version and even harder to read, and now that screens are much larger, it makes the menu text even smaller. I predict that by v. 20, users will have to just memorize where to put their cursor to click on a menu item.
I have already adjusted my system text sizes to 175% but it does no good for PSE, if I use the zoom entire screen, I can only view 1/4 of the workspace at a time. There really should be an easy way to personalize your workspace. I have to reduce my screen resolution to 800x600 and change back to 1920x1080 to view the item in it's intended location each time I edit or create images and cannot work on the document that I am creating or editing a graphic at the same time.  What a huge inconvenience.
I have resorted to keeping my binoculars next to my computer for just this reason.  Picture it... binoculars to select anything on a menu.  In a way I feel like a prisoner.  Who are the quality control people, anyone that suffers with low vision? The last major problem I had to live with, PSE 10's gray on black! Find the scroll button when your eyes are tired! LOL.
There are major reasons why I stick to PSE too, so changing programs is not a viable option for me.

I am assuming that you are on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Not sure if there is another way, but the way that works for me
    a. right click the computer taskbar, and click on Cascade Windows
    b. in the Premiere Elements Expert workspace, go the the bottom right edge of the workspace view, place the mouse cursor at that point until its tip has a diagonal icon, and then drag upward right to left diagonally to give some view of the desktop where I have the file for the drag and drop into Premiere Elements....then drag and drop the supported file into the Timeline or Project Assets or a drag and drop location.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
    Thank you.

  • Adobe Reader X 10.0.1 vs PDF Xchange Viewer 2.5

    Hi
I created a PDF document from a Word 2003 SP3 file using trial Adobe X Pro 10.0.0. The document properties shows PDF Producer as Acrobat Distiller 10.0.0 (Windows), Application as Acrobat PDFMaker 10.0 for Word and PDF Version as 1.6
The PDF created just fine without issues. The Word document was 101 pages and so is the PDF.
The issue I have is that when I print this document, the printer spool size is huge. I tested printing to a Ricoh Aficio 4000 MP printer with 3 different printer drivers, PCL 5e, PCL6 and Postscript 3.
The PDF size is 252KB and I used Adobe Reader X 10.0.1 to print the document.
The spool size generated is 119MB for PCL5e, 68.3MB for PCL6 and 7.84MB for Postscript 3.
I then printed the exact same report, using the freeware PDF Xchange Viewer 2.5 and my results were 6.34MB for PCL5e, 1.59MB for PCL6 and
    5.68MB for Postscript 3.
The tests were done on my Windows XP SP3 32-bit laptop.
Can anyone explain why the huge difference in spool size? Has anyone had similar experience.
    Your comments/feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Pav
I would like to add that I neither favour Adobe Reader X nor PDF Xchange Viewer 2.5 over the other. Another reader may give different results too. I am only trying to find out what could cause this, which may help me resolve network bandwidth issues.

Thanks John, I have re-posted in the Adobe Reader forum.

  • Scroll bar too narrow to handle- how do I adjust its size?

Is there a way to adjust the size of the scroll bars WITHOUT effecting the dimensions of the arrange window?
For some reason I have this one project where the scroll bars are smaller and impossible to grab and move around even though the dimensions of the arrange window are pretty average and in all the other projects the scroll bars are wide enough to grab and move. Is this a bug?? or is there somewhere where you can adjust their size in the preferences panel?
    Thanks!

  • Is there a way to adjust the SIZE of artwork (movies, music, etc) there used to be a "slider"

  • Adjust Photo Size For Web Gallery

I'm uploading a new Web Gallery as I type this....(although nothing appears to be happening at the moment...I decided against my first couple of efforts and deleted those galleries).
I don't see a way to adjust the size of the photos uploaded to the Web Gallery. As each of the photos I'm uploading is approximately 3MB in size, I was hoping there might be an option to compress each of the photos prior to uploading. Am I missing it?
In iPhoto Help, there's a topic for "Choosing the Appropriate Size For Your Photo". Apparently, this only refers to emailed photos, though?
    Any thoughts on this?

    Mike:
Have you checked on the size of the files uploaded to the web gallery? They are resized to 800 x 600 pixels. If you select the option to have the full sized image downloaded then the max pixel dimension is 3054 pixels in any direction. If the are larger than than the get resized. Additionally the file is compressed. My 2.7 MB file was downsized to 750 KB.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Adjusting border size when printing

I'm trying to print photos. Last time I did this, I could adjust the size of the image within the given paper size (4x6) with a simple slider control. This made the white border around the picture bigger or smaller accordingly. I'm not finding the slider this time. Has something changed, or have I forgotten how to do that?

You must have been using iPhoto 6 the last time as that's not available any more. There are themes now with different border options but no continuously adjustable border width.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Links and View Sizes

Using Acrobat 8, I have a long single page document with a set of links at the top which relate to articles down the length of the document.
When I use the link tool to set these the destination always appears at the magnification I was using when the link was created. If go back and edit the link to make the destination inherit the view that was being used when the link was clicked the link breaks because this only appears to work on multi-page documents, and the link becomes the top of page 1.
There is a feature called destinations which allows me to jump to another part of the same page, but that only works with a single fixed magnification, so the magnification changes to whatever it was when I set the link, and there appears no way of making it inherit the magnification used at the moment the link was clicked.
I have exactly the same problem with any bookmarks I create.
The last time I used Acrobat to make I was using an earlier version which used a different method to define the link destination that therefore I'm pretty sure it was possible to do what I want.
Anyone know how to achieve this in Acrobat 8 (is it possible in 9)?

No that doesn't make any sense or answer my question either...
I've found more problems with this since my initial post.
In the end for the sake of getting the job live, I set my initial view to 100% and all my linked and bookmarked views also to 100%. I went into the document properties dialogue and set it to resize the window to the initial page on opening the document.
However on the next opening of the PDF although the initial view of the document was 100% all my link and bookmark views were now something like 55%. From what I could see it appeared that these had scaled down in proportion from the document window size (full wide screen) to the size the window was when reduced to fit the document at 100%.
So of course I had to go through all the links and bookmarks again and reset them to 100% at the new window size.
Either this whole concept of document view sizes is massively flawed and Adobe are ignoring the problems or Adobe's ideas of how links and views should work are completely different from mine (and many other users) in which case I would like them to explain their thinking behind how this works so maybe I can understand it too.
For me a new link should always inherit to current magnification unless the author deliberately overrides this. That's certainly how I'd want to be navigating around a PDF.
I the absence of any useful advice or rational from Adobe, I guess my next course of action will be to ask embarrassing questions at the next trade show where Adobe have a stand...
