PDF attachment via File adapter

Dear Friends,
I have a scenario like as follows :
     *SAP ECC -
> PI -
> SQL Database(external system )*
     *External system  -
>  PI  -- (pdf attachment)----
> Customers*
SAP sending the material number to SQL database via PI.
In turn SQL database  will  take the corresponding material number and perform certain internal processing logic. Finally it will generate a pdf file.It will place the PDF file in a folder in that system
Now PI need to fetch  that pdf file from thefolder and send the pdf attachment to external customers via email.
How can we fufill this requirement?
Please give your guidance friends.

this will be a normal IDoc/RFC/Proxy to JDBC scenario

In this case it will be a file to mail scenario.
In case you want to attach the pdf file in the mail, then use the payloadswapbean and help you develop this

  • Sending an input pdf file as an attachement via EMAIL adapter in PI

    Hi XI Experts,
Kindly request you to help in the below issue:
I have a File to EMAIL interface in which the file  channel would pick up a file "Test.pdf".
This file should be sent as an attachment to a number of receipients as it is without any formatting of the content.
In other words, XI should pick the file and attach it as it is as an EMAIL.
There is no need of any mapping changes.
We are giving the receipients during runtime hence, we have done dynamic configuration.
Kindly suggest how to attach the file as it is in the EMAIL.
    Thank you.

  • PDF attachment in mail adapter

    Hi
I am reading mailbox using mail adapter. But i cannot read the PDF attachment in that mail. I use "PayloadSwapBean" in the module, but it is packing the mailbody to the text file, but they is no sign of PDF attachment. How to read the attachment.
    Regards
    Andy

    Hi Anandan,
You can use Java/ABAP proxies to do this job for you..
Java Proxy >> will read the mail(with the attachments) with the help of Java APIs and send the message into XI ABAP Proxy >> for this you will have to first convert the attachment into a message and then you can proceed in the regular fashion.
Not all adapters can process attachments, I'm not sure why you are having trouble with using module processor in the mail adapter. Just check if the service pack that you are using supports this feature.
If you are on WAS 6.10 and above you can achieve this and there is an excellent weblog by Thomas Jung on this topic at
    /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/09/09/receiving-e-mail-and-processing-it-with-abap--version-610-and-higher

  • Get additional file attachements with file adapter

    Hello,
Has anyone ever had the following situation:
A Sender interface sends a little bit of data to XI.
This data contains the filenames of some files on a FTP server.
Based on these filename the file needs to be retreived from a FTP server and further handled as an attachement of the XI message?
Is it possible to trigger a sender file adapter with a variable directory and filename from XI, in a BPM or Mapping?
    Warm Regards,

    hi,
    >>>>Is it possible to trigger a sender file adapter with a variable directory and filename from XI, in a BPM or Mapping?
no it's not possible to start a file adapter from BPM
you can use a java proxy that will do the trick
we've used a solution like this many times with no big issues
remember that it's better to use an async java proxy
(with correlation) then a sync one...

  • Sending files via File Adapter through FTP having a HTTP proxy as firewall

    Dear  experts,
I am having a issue trying to send a file via FTP with the File Adapter. My client has a HTTP proxy with authentification required as firewall  in order to send files via FTP.
I've tried several solutions but I cannot find a way to add the proxy name, user and password in the communication channel.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards

    Hi,
Unfortunately those changes didn't work. The adapter is not able to establish a connection within the FTP server. These are the parameters I added:
    -Dhttp.proxy.user=<usename>
    -Dhttp.proxy.password=<userpassword>
    -Dhttp.proxyHost=<proxy.domain...>
    -Dhttp.proxyPort=80
    -Dhttp.nonProxyHost="*domain1.com domain2com"
    -Dhttps.proxy.user=<usename>
    -Dhttps.proxy.password=<userpassword>
    -Dhttps.proxyHost=<proxy.domain...>
    -Dhttps.proxyPort=80
    -Dhttps.nonProxyHost="*domain1.com domain2com"
And just in case, we tried with these other parameters at the same time.
    -Dftp.proxy.user=<usename>
    -Dftp.proxy.password=<userpassword>
    -Dftp.proxyHost=<proxy.domain...>
    -Ddftp.proxyPort=80
    -Dftp.nonProxyHost="*domain1.com domain2com"
The errors in the adapter engine's log are:

  • Sending smartforms as PDF attachement via e mail

    Hello all:
I have configured PPF actions to send smartforms as PDF attchment via e mail it works fine in one client.
But when I copied the transport to another client, the entries in field 'Recipient' in the configuration step 'Define Conditions and Output Parameters for Comm. of Cust.Shipm. & Cust.Dcl'  are not copied to the new client. I had maintained the name of the inbox folder that has e mail addresses in this field. Any one has a similar issue ? Or is this similar to the number ranges and not transportable and we have to maintain them in every client. Any insight into this very much appreciated.

    Hello:
If you want to send the smartform as a PDF attachment, configure your PPF action as described below:
Step 1: Define Techn. Medium for Msgs (PPF Actions) f. Cust. Shipm. and Cust. Decl.
In the action definition, choose processing type as 'External Communication'
                                                             form type:  'Smart Forms'
                                                             format: /SAPSLL/FORM_PROC
                                                             personalization type: 2 object specific....
Make this action definition partner function dependent and create a Z partner function. Maintain that
                partner function in this definition.
Step 2: Define Conditions and Output Parameters for Comm. of Cust.Shipm. & Cust.Dcl
                Select Communication Method: Internet Mail
                          Mail Settings: send status: 3
Configure the reamaining PFF actions as usual.
This will work if that configured partner function is maintained in the customs declaration. And for that business partner, maintain the e mail address in the address dependent section via txn BP.

  • Invoice output as PDF attachment via email.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement wherein an invoice when saved should generate a mail output (external send) with the invoice as a PDF attachment. I have the system set up for external send & scot settings but am stuck up with the PDF attachment. I also have the same requirement for PO output (because I look into both SD and MM). Any help on either of them would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vidya Sagar

    Hi,
[External Send - Sending PO by email|http://www.sap-img.com/materials/external-send-sending-po-by-email.htm]:
In order to send PO, your Basis team must configure the system first so that external email can be send out from SAP.  If it is not configured, no settings you do on MM will work.
    1. You must maintain email address in vendor master data.
    2. The same applies to your user master data.  For the output type for default values, a communication strategy needs
to be maintained in the Customizing that supports the e-mail. You can find the definition of the communication strategy in the
    Customizing via the following path:
(SPRO -> IMG -> SAP Web Application Server -> Basic Services -> Message Control -> Define Communication Strategy).
As a default, communication strategy CS01 is delivered. This already contains the necessary entry for the external communication. Bear in mind that without a suitable communication strategy it is not possible to communicate with a partner via Medium 5 (external sending).
    3. Use the standard SAP environment (program 'SAPFM06P', FORM routine 'ENTRY_NEU' and form 'MEDRUCK') as the processing routines.
    4. In the condition records for the output type (for example, Transaction MN04), use medium '5' (External send).
    5. You can use Transaction SCOT to trigger the output manually. The prerequisite for a correct sending is that the node is set correctly. This is not described here, but it must have already been carried out.
    6. To be able to display, for example, the e-mail in Outlook, enter PDF as the format in the node.
    Regards,
    Srilatha.

  • Passing a file via File Adapter without renaming.

We have a scenario whereby we pick up a file locally using a file adapter set up as a sender in local NFS file mode, and then pass that file through PI without mapping or conversion to XML.
We would like to send the file via a file adapter set up as a receiver in FTP mode, and to use the filename that was recognised by the sending adapter. However, I cannot see a way to do this.
    is this possible?
    - Tony.

    Hi,
The problem is, as I see it, that the File Receiver in FTP mode expects a naming convention that will not provide what er want to do.
e.g. File sender processes a file EDI00001.txt. We want to send that file via the File Receiver in FTP mode with that filename, EDI00001.txt.
Next file picked up from file sender has name EDI00002.txt. We want that sent via FTP as EDI00002.txt, etc etc.
Problem is, it seems there is no way to tell the File Receiver to use the file name that the File Sender picked up.
    BR,
    Tony.

    Hi,
we don´t have many options for setting the font type and size in an ABAP list. One option is that you print the output using either SmartForms or AdobeForms, where you can control font type as well as size. This one requires additional work.
Another option is to use the instruction Print-Control:
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 SIZE 1 LPI 6 CPI 10.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 1 size 1 LPI 6 cpi 10'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 SIZE 5 LPI 6 CPI 5.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 1 size 5 LPI 6 cpi 5'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 2 SIZE 5 LPI 6 CPI 10.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 2 size 5 LPI 6 cpi 10'.
    SKIP.
    NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.

  • Passing mulitple parameters to unix shell script via File adapter

    Hi,
    I have the following usecase.
I have a set of files A, B, C, D  etc in a directory dir.  I also have a EOT ( end of transaction file).
I need to merge this file once the EOT file is present in XI application server (  using NFS with File adpter).
I have a script which can take the following paramters:
    1. EOT file name
    2. File names for A,B,C,D
    3. Directory names.
Is it possible to send muliple parameters to the unix script from the File adapter?
please share any blogs which do so.
    Thanks in advance,
    Best Regards
    Abhishek

    Hi,
You can always call script from file adapter using "OS command" functionality, pass additional parameter like you do in unix for existing script (exact command which you type on unix prompt).
Adapter will simply pass your OS command to operating system, so from XI point of view nothing is changed and it is your script which should take care of parameters.

  • Receive CSV attachment via Mail Adapter and process into ABAP proxy

    Hi,
    I have the following scenario:
    1. Receive e-mail with CSV attachment
    2. Process through Mail adapter (KeepAttachments = Yes in order to retain the CSV attachment)
    3. Receive into ABAP proxy (with CSV attachment)
The next step is to read the attachment in the ABAP proxy and process the CSV attachment data into CRM.
The CSV attachment contains the data I wish to process - the body of the e-mail will not contain this information.
The problem I have is reading the attachment data in the proxy - not sure of the methods/class to call - anyone got any ideas ?
Another question is this the best way to do this and process the CSV attachment data ?
I know I could use the PayloadSwapBean to switch the payload to the attachment but then I am stumped with how the attachment is processed through PI 7.1 - how do you transform the CSV format payload into XML so PI will be able to process it through mapping.
Either option is viable - an answer to either question would be great.
    1. How do you read the attachment data in an inbound ABAP proxy ?
    2. How do you transform the CSV attachment data after the PayloadSwapBean from CSV to XML ?
    Kind regards
    Colin.

    Hi Colin
As you are not interested in processing the body of email. Swap the payload to the attachment using the PayloadSwapBean
Change the content from CSV to XML using MessageTransformBean. Now pass this information to Proxy. You dont need to deal with attachments in proxy.
It is not possible to read attachment in server proxy because the class and interface you create will not have data type which can refer to an attachment processing interface in ABAP.
    Thanks
    Gaurav

  • Adding attachment via File browse not working

Hi, I'm using Apex 4.1.1 through GlassFish server 3.1.1. Recently I've imported my database application and after running my app, adding of an attachment isn't working anymore. Before I used Apex via Emb. PL/SQL Gateway(from which I've exported app sql) and everything worked just fine. My code for adding attachment is like this:
    IF (:P2_ATTACHMENT IS NOT NULL)
    THEN
    INSERT INTO ATTACHS
    (ID_ATACHMENT,NAME_ATTACH, TYPE_ATTACH, ATTACHMENT, DATE_ATTACH)
    SELECT ID,NAME, mime_type,blob_content, sysdate
    FROM wwv_flow_files
    WHERE NAME = :P2_ATTACHMENT;
    DELETE wwv_flow_files
    WHERE NAME = :P2_ATTACHMENT;
    :P2_ATTACHMENT := NULL;
    END IF;
If I skip this piece of code, and try to submit page(where is also couple of other insert statements), then is ok.
What is the problem of this, GlassFish, wwv_flow_files table, apex listener...?
    Thanks.

Do you get an error? What diagnostic details do you have? E.g. what do see in View Debug if you run the page in Debug mode?
Prima facie, there is nothing wrong in the code or in the infrastructure.
