PDF Color Workflow for Customer Review

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a designer, so this question may be something that would normally be obvious to those of you with more experience.
I have to create some projects in InDesign that will ultimately be printed in CMYK. No real problem there. I can provide the printer with PDF output. I also need to have customers review the output before sending to the printer. The printer needs a high-quality, CMYK PDF. The customers need to see PDFs on their screen that give them confidence to know the colors are correct. When I export my docs to PDF, I use the Press Quality setting, with the Color Options set to Convert to Destination (Preserve Numbers), with a Destination of U.S. Sheetfed Coated v2 and Include Destination Profile. That seems to work for the printer, but the colors seem washed out in the PDFs when viewed onscreen (prompting customers to say "could you make this a bit darker?").
Can someone either explain how I can change the output settings in InDesign for PDF to give a good onscreen representation of what will get printed, or point me in the right direction (or, if necessary, correct some incorrect assumptions I'm making)?
Thanks in advance.

Unless your clients have color calibrated monitors and set up color
management properly in Acrobat you're wasting your time.

  • Approval process workflow for Customer XBO

    Hi experts,
We have a client requirement which asks for multilevel approval process for Accounts (when a new Account is created/ existing Account is changed). As per my knowledge, there is no standard approval process defined for Customer XBO as of now by SAP.
Also, if the Account creation/modification is 'Rejected' by any manager, then how will the Account be reverted back to its original version? (kind of a rollback)
I had raised an incident for this asking the SAP team whether they will be adding any approval processes for Customer BO in the near future C4C releases. But they do not have any plans of implementing it sooner.
They suggested a workaround as follows:
Add 1 extension field "approval status code" in Account with code values:
1 - To be approved by L1 manager
    2 - Approved by L1
3 - Approved by L2......etc for more levels of approval
Reverting 'Rejected' Account to previous state is not possible via PDI. In principle you would have to read the changehistory data and revert to the state before the change was done. But the changehistory BO is/will not be PSM released.
Any workaround or suggestions on how can I go about implementing this requirement? I need to put validations like L2 can approve only after L1 approval.
    Please guide and help.

    Hi,
why don't you create a screen from which user will create or modify the accounts. after submitting the custom screen , you should start the approval process, once all the approval is done, create or modify the account in SAP.

  • WorkFlow for Customer Master

    Hi Friends,
I have requirement to create a workflow to fill Customer Company and Sales Data. For this, I found BO KNA1 but it doesn't have any event. It is very strange.
Please suggest me some other options.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    What is your requirement?
Do you want to trigger the workflow when a customer is created?
Use the BO KNA1. Create a subtype & create a custom event.
Then create an entry for this event in SWEC. Use the Change Doc. Object DEBI. THis will work.
Let me know if you have any queries.

  • White Balance color temperature for custom temperature shots

    Hello,
I would like to understand why LR and Photoshop too are always show wrong color temperature "As Shot"?
Let say I shoot with 6000K, set manually (Canon 40D, RAW)
Canon itself says it's 6000K in the slide info, fine.
Both Adobe apps says it's 5750K!
    What's going on there?
Second question - I know the light was EXACTLY 6000K, but the slide has some green in it. Picking white balance in LR gives me 5900K (which is close to the truth) and +31 Tint, which makes slide neutral.
Of course I can correct Tint manually before the shot by WB Shift in Camera, so the question is: what is the best way - to find more or less appropriate WB shift in the camera, or use WB correction in LR after all?
    Thanks
UPD. My suggestion is - Adobe doesn't read custom temperature from RAW file, it's just guessing! Is that right?

The white balance value you see in Lightroom is profile specific. It reads your custom white balance and translates it so that neutrals stay neutral, which is exactly what you want. If it wouldn't do this, your neutrals would shift in color.
The best way to get a correct white balance is to shoot a white balance (grey) card or use one of those filters on your camera to measure it. You can either set it in camera from the grey card or do it with the dropper in Lightroom and sync over the series. The effect will be the same.
P.S. unless you shoot a white balance card, you do not know that the color temp of your light is exactly 6000K. That is quite impossible to know. It might be approximately that under certain standardized conditions but you cannot be sure, no matter what you're told by the manufacturer.

  • Color setting for custom reports in Grid Control

I created a report in GC (chart from SQL) which works fine.
I like to adjust the colors for the report. Is there any possibility to do this?

Which version of EM are you using? The native reporting tool does not support changing colors.
In EM 12, we added support for Oracle BI Publisher which is a more advanced reporting tool and allows more design options.

  • SWI2_ADM1 : Without agents workflow for custom program

    Hi,
I have a requirement for without agent to make automatic Custom program to run background daily-basis
and also execute rules(we have different client in the same server) and display error work items list in the output.
kindly suggest me how to write the custom program.
    Thanks & regards,
    Bala.

    Hi,
I think you have a two requirement.
I have a requirement for without agent to make automatic Custom program to run background daily-basis
and also execute rules(we have different client in the same server) and
For this purpose please follow the below steps.
    1. Get all the dialog workitems from table SWWWIHEAD where WI_TYPE = 'W' , WI_STAT = 'READY' and WI_CD = current date.
    2. Now this dialog workitems are with agent and without agents. Now you need to filter them.
    3. use FM SAP_WAPI_GET_WI_AGENTS/RH_SWWUSERWI_READ_FOR_WI to find the agents of the dialog workitem.
FM SAP_WAPI_GET_WI_AGENTS will return workitem list those have agents. FM RH_SWWUSERWI_READ_FOR_WI  will return
initial  if the workitem does not have any agents. I would recommond you to use  SAP_WAPI_GET_WI_AGENTS. So you can filter them
        by using the above FM
    4. Submit the report RSWIWILS with the workitem ( without agents ) to execute agent rules
display error work items list in the output.
Use FM SAP_WAPI_WORKITEMS_BY_ERROR to get the list of workitem or select workitems from table SWWWIHEAD where, WI_STAT = 'ERROR' and WI_CD = current date.
Hoping that this can help you.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Proper color workflow with CMYK inkjet printer

Hi, I work in an academic science group that has a networked HP DesignJet 800ps printer (postscript RIP). Unlike many inkjets, it appears to be a true CMYK printer - that is, our i1 Match software recognizes it as a CMYK device. We do all our printing in house - we don't have to worry about commercial printing or publishing, and our color management needs are basically confined to trying to have the printer's output match what we see on our monitors when we print photos in Photoshop or posters in Illustrator.
Having previously worked only with RGB printers and in Photoshop, I am pretty much lost now as to how to set up our color management workflow. (And don't even ask about my colleagues. :-)) I've never had to worry about either CMYK workspaces or printers before. I want to keep things as simple as possible for the staff here, given that none, including myself, are graphics specialists.
I've looked at the "Color Workflows for Adobe Creative Suite 3" document published by Adobe, and although it is very meticulous, none of the examples seem to match our situation. Specifically, all the info regarding CMYK printing involves working with commercial presses, which is not relevant to us.
I would like to avoid making my colleagues work in different color spaces depending on whether they are working in Illustrator or Photoshop - ideally, I would like it if we could stay in RGB at all times. First question: Is this unrealistic given that we have a CMYK printer?
No doubt I will have more questions, but I want to start simple for now. Thanks for helping me out - this is not my area of expertise.

    > profile them as RGB devices" (to quote the book). The printers that I've profiled in the past with i1 worked this way.
As Peter points out in his post, it is most likely that your RIP is a CMYK RIP (most RIP's are.) If that is the case, you'll be profiling a CMYK device, not an RGB device (as you have in the past.) It is a totally different exercise to profile a CMYK device - ink limits and Kgen are variables that must be dealt with.
    > Yes, details would be very helpful. Thanks.
Color management is all about moving from one device/color space to another device/color space while maintaining color appearance as closely as possible.
    1) Based on the description of your workflow, step one is to create your original art in a well-behaved RGB color space (like Adobe98) while viewing it on a well-calibrated monitor.
    2) If your final output is to be on the HP 800ps, step two would be to preview that art on your monitor as it would look on the HP. This is called soft-proofing - a process by which the art is viewed through the HP profile on-screeen so you can see what happens to all those beautiful, rich RGB colors when they're squeezed into the smaller gamut of the HP profile.
To do this, you go to View > Proof Set-Up > Custom, and choose the HP 800ps profile from the pop-up of all the profiles on your system. You can also choose from among 4 rendering intents - Relative Colorimetric, Perceptual, Absolute Colorimetric, and Saturation. Choosing the correct rendering intent is key - this willl determine how Photoshop deals with the out-of-gamut colors. Without getting into an explanation of what each RI does, the important thing is to choose the one that LOOKS the best on screen. There's no magic to it. In general, for photographic images, you'll be choosing from Relative or Perceptual. For vector graphics (which it sounds like you're doing), throw Saturation into the mix as well. Just try them and see which looks best.
Additionally, be sure to check "Black Point Compensation."
This will give you a good idea of what the final printed version will look like. While you're in soft-proof mode, you can edit the RGB file to alter the way out-of-gamut colors appear. In fact, there's no reason why you couldn't create your art from the beginning while in soft-proof mode. Using a well-built profile and a good calibrated monitor, you should be able to get an extremely close match between monitor and print.
    3) When you print, be sure to choose the same profile/rendering intent that you used in Proof Setup.
Again, it all starts with a good profile. Good luck.

  • Workflow in customer payment

hi all we want to set up workflow for customer posting. when we receive customer payment through EDI in lockbox then sometime times customer send us denial for payment through denial codes. In such case we want to drive a work flow to submit invoices again with proper documents. Can some body tell me how do we create this work flow.
    nik

The WF starts with the denial of payment, then create a activity step to check the reason for denial, then based on that create a decision step how to proceed further. Regenerate or option B. This WF ends once the customer accepts to pay i.e. upon receipt of payment. To drive this, create a Wait step which will wait for the payment event.

  • How do I Automatically Send a PDF for Shared Review?

    Hello,
I am trying to automate sending documents for shared review. Basically, all my users post PDFs to the same location and so they perform all the same actions. I would like to make it easier on them and automatically trigger all the actions. Currently, I am using Acrobat.dll in a C# program, but I am not adamant about using this particular technology. All I could get was:
    Acrobat.AcroAppClass acro = new Acrobat.AcroAppClass();
    acro.MenuItemExecute("SendForSharedReview");
This opens the shared review wizard, and I can send keystrokes to the wizard dialog box, but I am hoping there is a more elegant method of doing it. Is there an API that I should be using or some other method to automatically trigger a shered review on a selected document?
    Thanks,
    Pawel

It took a while to figure out, but I confirmed it with Adobe staff. The answer is no; sending multiple documents for shared review is not possible with LiveCycle or with any other Adobe software.
The only thing to do would be automate with some kind of clicker application or AutoIt, but that is far from ideal.

  • Custom Color Palette for Charts

    Hi all,
Can I define the colors of a chart by a custom color palette in Design Studio (as you can do it in Web Intelligence) or does SAP intend to implement such a function in a next release? With CSS this isn't fully possible, because it doesn't allow you to coloring the additional line like the corresponding main line.
I've already seen and commented this post Re: Custom Color Palette for Charts / CSS, but it's still unanswered. Maybe I've with a new discussion more success.
    Thank you and kind regards

  • Custom Color Palette for Charts / CSS

Is there a way of creating a custom color palette for charts (as you can do it in WebIntelligence) and install it on the tomcat?
Or will I have to set my custom colors in the css? And if so: where can I find a description of classes for Charts? Is there any description of css classes at all? All I could find was a list of classes for a crosstab (but no description).
    Thank you

  • Color Display for PDF Files Creative Cloud in Browser View

I have noticed that there is a great difference in color display between a PDF and .ai/eps files. When viewed in the browser there seems to be no ICC taking affect for PDF files even though options to include the profiles, etc in output were selected. This makes it hard to use as a tool when showing clients proofs via the browser as they will never see proper color. I know color will vary between monitors but the difference is huge for some colors. Like a dark almost Navy Blue appearing like a vibrant pen ink blue. On a Mac when you use the quick spacebar preview the correct color shows for all versions of file type but in the browsers it shows the color incorrectly. Have tried this so far on the Mac in in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Even Google Drive can display all the file types correctly with correct color although the way it shows eps files is a bit off. That I don't mind as I rarely save eps files anymore.
Is there something I am missing or is this a defect in the browser display?
The other possible option would be to flip my thinking and save everything as .ai files with PDF compatibility turned on and then have to tell clients that they should be able to open that ai file in Acrobat. At the moment I save everything as PDF files with Illustrator compatibility turned on.

Can anyone throw light on this. I'm facing same problem.

  • Need Help: Workflow Decision Task not visible in NWBC for customer Task

    Hello All,
I am  new to NWBC configuration , need ur expert knowledge  for the below issue. I have checked the treat . Approve/Reject button for SRM Approval for RFx response ,but not able to get the exact steps for the configurations in NWBC.
    Requirement.
We are working on SLM/SRM module, where we have requirement to create a custom workflow with custom Task for which we have executed below actions.
    Created the Custom Workflow.
Created the custom Task with custom  ZCLASS and ZEVET.
    Created   Event linkages in SWE2.
After doing this we are getting the workitem in the NWBC, currently we don’t have the Portal system in place, so we are using the NWBC for all our testing.
    What is the issue?
When we select the workitem in the NWBC (UML) inbox  , the Decision Task ie “Approve” or “Reject” button are not visible , where as for SAP standard  Task  buttons are visible.
    What help we need?
When we cross check the SCN/IBM portal, found that we need to do the XML file configurations. Can you any one kindly let us know the steps we need to follow to achieve our functionality.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Thanks and Regards
    Channa

You need to share the details of what Inbox you are using, configuration steps depend on it. If you aren't using portal, you aren't using UWL and there is no UML inbox. You need to get your facts straight. Most likely you are using the Business Workflow Inbox (SWF_WORKPLACE) or the Lean Inbox (IBO_WDA_INBOX). Both are based on Web Dynpro ABAP and POWL but the configuration is different. Regardless, you posted this in the wrong space. Correct space is either SAP NetWeaver Business Client or Web Dynpro ABAP.
