did you add the font to the OS¿
i understand that you can get the text with that font well. if that is the problem look if you have the font available, if not then install the font or use it as a resource.

as a resource you must do something like
String fontFileName = "fonts/ttf/latha.ttf";
InputStream is = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(fontFileName);
java.awt.Font ttf=null;
try {
     ttf=java.awt.Font.createFont(java.awt.Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, is);
catch (Exception e) {
     logger.log(Level.WARNING, "Error al intentar añadir la fuente: "+e.getMessage(), e);
}then use the deriveFont function

  • PDF created in Illustrator CS5 causing problems in InDesign CS5

    I have created a wallpaper / background in Illustrator CS5 that measures 646mm x 303mm (it's for an A4 folder cover) is in CMYK colour mode and is made up of only 2 layers.  Layer 1 is 3 rectangles - 1 the size of the page and 2 that are 50% of the full page.  They are all filled in with a gradient.  Layer 2 is 2 x waves made up os 2 lines then "Object", "Blend", "Specified Steps - 20", "Make".  This is the extent of the graphics on this page.  I have then saved it as a PDF (Illustrator Default) and it's size is 518k - pretty reasonable size.
    Here's my problem -  When I place the PDF in InDesign as the background for my folder it is slowing all my processes down is I put my view to "High Quality".  I can move, resize, type or place anything without the program crashing or a monumental delay in whatever it is that I am trying to do.  Printing is also taking an excessive amount of time when I try to print off the PDF (created from the InDesign file and being all of 1.2MB).
    Also - the illustrator document has now crashed once.
    Other things that might be useful to know is that I am running on Windows XP, Office 2010, 32 bit, and have the whole CS5 package.
    I can't think of any other information to give.
    Do you think there is a system problem?  File issue?  Any advice would be FANTASTIC.
    Thank you!!!!!

    That's an issue with the shared PDF stuff in newer versions of Acrobat. There's realy no fix for this misbehavior, it's more or less a "hard" compatibility issue.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro XI problems printing PDFs created from AutoCAD.

    Just installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and am having problems printing PDFs created from AutoCAD.  Printing other PDF created by MS Word works well.  Had a similar problem in an earlier version of Pro.  The fix I figure out then was to print the PDF file as another PDF.  Using the second PDF to print to a plotter typically worked.  It does not work for Adoabe Acrobat Pro XI.

  • Can a pdf have problems when created with multiple PDF versions?

    In our everyday workflow, we have PDFs created from different versions.  Our main files are created as PDF v1.5, but then we might import pages created from another software that is v1.3, then we might scan and add a page that is created as v1.6.  Has anyone noticed any issues with files created this way?  I am troubleshooting some problem files and wonder if this could be contributing.
    Thanks.

    Could possibly be an issue, but it likely depends on the features used. The major problem would be going from later versions to prior versions in terms of the version you open everything in. If you are using the latest version for the editing, I would not see why there would be a problem. Earlier versions of Acrobat may have problems with PDFs saved in later versions, but that can typically be fixed with Reduce File Size or the PDF Optimizer.

  • Problems opening PDFs created with Acrobat in TFS

    Hi,
    I know this might not really be a supported issue, but any thoughts you might have would be appreciated!
    I've been creating PDFs using Primo PDF and a trial of Acrobat X. I then put them on TFS / MS Visual Studio 2000.
    So, when I try to open a PDF I've checked in, the ones I've created in Primo are fine and launch whereas the ones created in Acrobat won't open and an error message about Inconsistent Line Endings is displayed.
    It says:
    "The line endings are not consistent. Do you want to normalize them....
    Line ending: Windows (CR LF)"
    The PDFs DO work when I open them from the normal place in the windows file system. However, when I try to "normalize" them by clicking yes, it breaks them completely.
    Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? I'm assuming it must be something to do with the conversion or document settings, because this only happens to PDFs created with Acrobat.

    In Acrobat X, SharePoint Integration has been added which allows users to check-out/check-in the document from within Acrobat. Clicking the file from document library in Internet Explorer opens the file in Acrobat. The configuration that needs to be done on the SharePoint server is explained in the following KB article in section 11.1.

  • Problem pdf created by Epson Printer.

    When I open a pdf created by my Epson printer (WF-7620) I am asked to install an Asian language pack. I do not want to install this pack. How do I stop it?
    I have contacted Epson support who told me to contact Adobe as they could not see a way to stop it.

    Here are my findings:
    The last two files do not have any "real" text in them, and therefore contain no fonts, which is fine as they're just images.
    The first file contains selectable text, probably the result of an OCR process by the Epson software, and has 3 fonts used in it: Times-Roman (Type 1) and two forms of a font called Kozuka Mincho PR6N (TrueType), which is a Japanese font owned by Adobe (http://store2.adobe.com/type/browser/P/P_1812.html).
    The usage of these fonts is what causes Reader to ask that you download the Asian language pack (they're probably included in it), so that it could display the text correctly. This doesn't look like an error to me. It's the font specified by the Epson software when it processed the file during the OCR process, and Reader is just respecting that choice, even though there's no real reason to use this specific font.
    One possible solution would be to check the settings of your Epson software and see if you can specify the language of the OCR text, or better yet, the actual font used for it. If you can't customize it then you can't really solve this problem unless they change their application (or you install the font pack).
    Here's a screenshot of the Fonts tab of the Document Properties for the first file from Acrobat Pro XI:

  • When right clicking on a doc file and choosing create a pdf file....Word 2013 launches and creates problems. We are using Acrobat Pro. Is there a way to turn off this feature in Word 2013?

    Is there a way around Word 2013 hijacking Acrobat Pro "create a pdf" process? When right clicking on a doc file and choosing "create a pdf" .......the Acrobat process will beging but then Word 2013 jumps in and creates problems.

    That's exactly why it needs to support it... The support means the
    application was tested in the supported environment and is known to work
    well in it. In unsupported environments you can get all kind of strange
    conflicts like the one you're experiencing.

  • Word 2000 hyperlinks don't work in .pdf created with Acrobat 9 Pro

    I'm new to Adobe Forums, so please overlook the effrontery of my posting a query previously discussed. Perhaps someone can simply reply with a link to the prior discussion. I have installed Acrobat 9.2 Pro in 2 computers, one running XP64 Pro, the other XP32 Pro. Word 2000 is installed in both. All Word hyperlinks work fine, but after .pdf conversion using Acrobat 9.2 Pro, none of these work. In 'Preferences', I have navigated Convert to PDF > Microsoft Office Office Word > Edit Settings > Add Links to Adobe PDF File and confirmed that the Add Links feature is enabled. Having ascertained that this glitch is not specific to either XP64 or XP32 operating systems, I uninstalled Acrobat 9.2 Pro from the XP32 computer and reinstalled Acrobat 6.1 Pro. Then using the same Word 2000 document, I converted to .pdf using Acrobat 6.1 Pro, with no problems whatsoever. This looks like a serious bug in Acrobat 9 Pro, which the telephone support folks have acknowledged. Alas, they won't give me the tiniest clue how to resolve it, nor any workaround, but merely refer me to AdobeForums.com for help. I suspect a corrective patch or 'upgrade' will be forthcoming, but meanwhile, if anyone knows of a workaround, please enlighten me. Thanks. /rmbrown

    Thank you, CtDave, for your speedy reply and for the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' knowledge base article. Word 2000 is one of Microsoft's masterpieces - by disabling 'autosave', the application is totally stable, does not require 'activation' by Microsoft. Acrobat 9 enables 'saving' of interactive .pdf forms, a most valuable feature and one much appreciated by anyone completiing such forms. There must be more to this issue than 'incompatibility', because I can create a test Word 2000 document, hyperlink a valid URL, convert to .pdf with Acrobat 9, and the hyperlink works fine in Acrobat 9. When I attempt to do this using a much more complex Word 2000 document, embedded with scores of hyperlinks, these links fail to work following conversion to .pdf with Acrobat 9, but work fine following conversion to .pdf with  Acrobat 6. I can then use Acrobat 9 to open the .pdf created with Acrobat 6, and successfully edit any of these fully functional hyperlinks using the 'Link tool'. I don't know who prepared the 'Acrobat Technical Evangelist' article (AF1908DCd01) - no credits were cited, and I'm far from certain that this authentically belongs to Adobe's knowledge base. So I appreciate your sharing this information with me, but I cannot say that my question has been definitively answered. If you have any further information or tips, please reply in this thread. /rmbrown

  • Adobe reader XI no longer plays video or audio embedded in PDF created with Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

    Help please!
    Embedded video and audio content in PDFs created using Adobe Acrobat X Pro does NOT play on some school computers after Acrobat Reader XI is installed. The media content played fine with Acrobat X. This is seen with both XP and Windows 7 machines.
    Bizarrely, other machines with Windows 7 and XP play the video and audio content fine when Acrobat XI is installed.
    Please help, as the PDFs are the delivery mechanism for a very effective literacy programme for children, and this bug has halted delivery for a considerable number of schools and thousands of children are in trouble!

    Hi Raman,
    I think we have found the source of the problem. It relates to how different browsers are detected by Adobe when updating Flash Player.
    To make the videos play within PDFs either from DVD or on the hard drive, it is now essential that Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin (now version 11.5.502.113) is installed. (Adobe Reader 10 had its own internal flash player, so an external player was not needed)
    We have discovered that, when Google Chrome is the browser, automatic updates of Flash do NOT download this programme. Flash 11 ActiveX is the only programme that is downloaded, and the videos do NOT play from DVD or harddrive.
    Also, it is not possible to manually download Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin as this option is not presented to the user. Presumably Adobe have set it up this way, because the Adobe site recognises Chrome is being used, and assumes that the computer does not need the plugin flash player, as Chrome has its own internal flash player. However, other programmes may need it!
    We went to FileHippo to download the non-IE version (even though we were using Chrome!) at
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_firefox/
    Then the videos played from DVD or harddrive.
    I have not been able to test how this works with other browsers. I hope that Adobe can sort this problem out asap!
    regards
    Buffy

  • Reader 11.0.07 does not display content of PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1

    We use some PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1 which do not show any content when opened with Reader 11.0.07, only a blank display area or erratic copies of the screen behind it. Documents look fine in print preview though and also print correctly. Tried to change various security or display settings, no effect. Tried other machines, different hardware, different OS versions (Win7, Win8), same effect on every single device with 11.0.07 installed.
    Any ideas, anyone?!?

    Hi,
    Not sure why you are resolving the node (??), also I would not be inclined to include a period in the object name (.), maybe this is why you are resolving the node.
    Also I don't see in the script where you are calling the instanceManager, in order to use the addInstance method.
    Having said that the problem may be in the File > Form Properties > Defaults tab:
    Check that Preserve script changes is set to Automatic.
    Lastly is the form Reader Enabled? It would need to be for users with Reader to save the changes, including new instances of a repeating element.

  • OpenType font won't work in PDF created from PM 7.0.1a file

    Per my client's request, I had to purchase a lovely new OpenType font, AJenson Pro, for a book project I'm paging using PageMaker 7.0.1a in Windows XP. First it wouldn't print on my postscript HP laser printer, but downloading an updated printer driver from the HP web site easily fixed that problem. But I have done everything I can think of and I can't get the new font to appear in a .pdf created using Acrobat Distiller 5.0.5, which came bundled with PageMaker.
    The font shows up in the finished .pdf as boxes with X marks in them instead of letters! I'm not trying to use anything but standard characters (no glyphs, etc.) in the font. I've been using PageMaker and creating .pdf files in Acrobat Distiller 5.0 for years and have had no problems until I got this new font. Adobe Type Manager shows that it is installed and it looks great on the screen.
    I purchased the entire AJenson Pro font family from MyFonts.com, so I have bold, bold ital, etc. Their technical support couldn't suggest anything I hadn't already tried.
    I'm planning on upgrading my PageMaker to InDesign soon, but I'll need a new computer to meet the minimum system requirements so I've been putting it off. I'm afraid to even download the free 30-day trial on my older computer. Any suggestions on how to get this OpenType font to work in a .pdf created using PM 7.0.1a and Acrobat Distiller 5.0, or do I have to upgrade to InDesign right away? I need to be able to create a .pdf so I can e-mail proofs to my client and eventually to send the finished book to a commercial printer. Thanks!

    I have had this same problem myself with most Open Type fonts. It's very irritating, because it seems like most of the new fonts are being issued exclusively in Open Type.
    I have developed a work-around, which you can attempt at your own risk.
    Purchase the software FontCreator (I use FontCreator 5.6 Home Edition). It's not very expensive.
    Open the problem font in FontCreator, and save it with a different name. In the process of saving it, the font will be converted to a TrueType font. Install the new version of the font. In my experience, you can then successfully use the font in Pagemaker, and convert it to a pdf.
    This is not a perfect solution because there will be a *very* slight diminishment in the crispness of the lines of the font -- but this is only visible when the font is magnified to something like 6400% in Acrobat. It is not visible to the naked eye, or at least not to my naked eye.

  • Annotations made in Preview to PDFs created from MS Word corrupts PDF

    In Preview, when I save annotations to PDFs created from an MS Word document, the PDF seems to be corrupted. Searching in the PDF no longer shows any results, and text copied from the PDF is displayed as a series of meaningless characters when pasted into a note annotation, or pasted into another file (e.g. a TextEdit file). So for example, "the monitoring of progress" becomes ")@%8,1),&12%,=%4&,2&//" when copied and pasted.
    Is there any way to prevent PDFs from being corrupted in this way, or to restore the PDF so that searching and copying work correctly?

    I suspect this is a problem with M$ failing to handle PDF files correctly. I would suggest you ask your question over on the M$ forums instead of here.

  • Unable to view pdf created in Live Cycle Designer ES2-initially thought to be a user/OS issue

    Unable to view pdf created in Live Cycle Designer ES2.  I initially thought this was a user / OS issue when I created a document for someone who is new to a MAC laptop.  She could not view the document through email.  Unfortunately, I began seeing the same error in my own document folders when searching for another document showing as icons instead of a list.  I can open the file without a problem although I see the error she sees only while viewing the icons in my folder.  I am using a Windows 7 PC. Now, I also know that if the document is downloaded, it can be viewed.
    Other notes:
    If trying to access the form via the internet, the same error is seen through Chrome, Firefox, and Mozilla but NOT through IE
    Everyone seems to have the latest or a very recent READER
    The form is compatible with Reader versions 7 and up
    Again, downloading from the internet to the computer appears to allow the file to open properly
    Document cannot be viewed on the Galaxy Tab 2 via Chrome or the pre-installed Internet Browser, nor can it be viewed through the Reader after download to tablet. I did not try on an Apple iPad.
    All parties involved are up-to-date with virus protection.
    Below is a link to the exact message received when trying to open the document.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/wmjqzwyriovg9vi/Adobe%20Error.pdf

    You're on to something KJ!  Yes the form was created in LiveCycle Designer ES2 which came bundled with my Adobe X Pro.  I began creating a new form yesterday and found that I could not preview the form, rendering this same "error" instead.  I ran a repair on my Adobe and at first it seemed to fix the issue but after making some changes to the form I tried to preview again and couldn't.  Here is what I get when I try to preview my forms in Designer ES2:
    When I click the OK button, it then gives me that single static page as mentioned above in previous posts.
    I searched Adobe yesterday trying to figure out how I could repair the LiveCycle Designer or if there was some sort of patch that I haven't gotten but was not able to find anything.
    (Sorry for the delay in response, I've been on vacation.)

  • Acrobat 9.5, file corruption when combining .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document

    In Acrobat 9, when I combine .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document, there is data corruption. Some of the text appears as blank boxes when the pages are inserted into the larger .pdf, the main document. I have so far solved this by "printing" the files to .pdf, and then inserting them into the larger .pdf main document, but this creates a fatter .pdf file that is much larger than would otherwise be the case. Are there any other solutions within Acrobat 9, please? If this bug has been solved in Acrobat X or XI, please advise. Thanks.

    As far as the images are concerned, that may be a result of your choice of job settings. You may want to use the Press or Print option if the image quality is important. I assume you are talking about bit images in this case.
    As to the hangup, have you checked to see if AcroTray is active on your system? It may not be running as needed. In the meantime, try checking print to file and then opening that file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF.
    Before you ever try a reinstall, you need to do a repair first to see if that resolves the problem. There are a lot of unknowns about your exact process for the printing and your job settings that may be part of the problem. The rest of your system setup is useful in some cases, but did not help me see your problem.
