• To access pdf files from application server using web.show_document

Hello!
If my pdf file is copied in Oracle_home/forms90/java directory.Then using web.show_document i can access the pdf file.But I can't copy all the pdf files in /forms90/java directory.We have lacs of pdf files which I want to keep in my own directory.But my requirement is if my pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in (Linux application server) ie in my own directory where I store all the pdf files.Then web.show_document does not open the pdf file.It says page cannot be displayed.For that I think we have to configure the directory /home2/docs directory as a webserver.From otn I got something like forms90.conf file in application server where we have to set virtual directory mapping etc.If the pdf is in local machine then in orion-web.xml file we have to mention real path and save the file and shutdown oc4j instance and restart it again.I tried it.But it is not working.Can u give me step by step instructions to solve this problem.I found a few links in discussion forum.But is doesn't work out.My pdf file is in /home2/docs directory in Linux application server.Please treat it as urgent.

Hi Sandeepmsandy,
There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.

• How to access a PDF file from Oracle DATABASE SERVER

Hi
I have some pdf files in "\home2\docs" directory in Oracle database server 10g. (OS is Linux) I want to access those pdf files from my client system through Oracle Forms. How is it possible?
Please Help!!!! It is very urgent !!!
Expecting fast response!!!!!
Bye

hi
Thank u for ur response.
Initially i tried to access pdf file from database server. I didn't get any solution for that. So I copied all my pdf files to Application server which is in Linux environment at "/home2/docs" directory.
I gave the following command for accessing the pdf files kept in Lnux Application Server from Oracle 10g forms in a button press trigger.
web.show_document('http://192.168.1.53:7779/home2/docs/test.pdf');
It says "page cannot be found"
So I copied one of the pdf file named "test.pdf" to "/oracle/oas10g/IasHome/forms90/java" in Linux Application Server . Then the following command
web.show_document('http://192.168.1.53:7779/forms90/java/test.pdf');
has opened the the pdf file in browser.
192.168.1.53 is my Linux Application Server IP. and 7779 is the port.
Actually we have lacs of pdf files. So i cannot keep all the pdf files in "/oracle/oas10g/IasHome/forms90/java" directory in Linux Application Server. And also all the pdf files not in the same directory , "/home2/docs" some of the pdf files r in the subdirectories of "/home2/docs/" like /home2/docs/sub1, /home2/docs/sub2, /home2/docs/sub3 etc.
Then how to configure my "/oracle/oas10g/IasHome/forms90/server/forms90.conf" file for retrieving pdf files from "/home2/docs/" and its subdirectories. Is Anything other than this, required for solving my problems.
Now My PDF files r in LINUX APPLICATION SERVER not in database server.
Please help!! It is VERY URGENT!!!

• Ever since I installed Safari 5.1 I can no longer access the pdf files on my website. I keep on getting an error with Webkit2webprocess.exe telling me that LogTransport2.dill was not found. Please help..

Ever since I installed Safari 5.1 on my PC (XP) I can no longer access the pdf files on my website. I have no problems with Chrome and  Firefox. I keep on getting a message from WebKit2WebProcess.exe that the LogTransport2.dill was not found. (I HATE PCs...) I tried reinstalling Acrobat 9. I tried reinstalling Safari. I even tried an older version of Safari. Nothing Helped.  Others have tried it on their machine, and it worked fine. But I do not know what is the matter with mine. I suspect the root cause is the missing LogTransport2.dill file. But I do not know how to go about getting it.  Your help is truly appreciated. My website is http://www.hlmartworks.com.

I have also found the article that provides 3 solutions but none of the solutions worked.

• Can't open ANY pdf files. Updated to 10.1.8--still "Access Denied."

Hello everyone,
I am currently unable to open any PDF files.
I recently did a clean re-install of Windows 7 (restored my Toshiba Satellite to out-of-the-box state).
After that, I restored all of my personal files from an external HD.
Now, every time I try to open a PDF, Adobe Reader gives me the following message:
"There was an error opening the file. Access denied."
The only solution I've been able to find online has been this:
Edit > Preferences > General> Clear "Enable Protected Mode at Startup"
Also,
Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced)> Clear "Enable Enhanced Security"
Neither of these has fixed my problem.
I also updated to the lastest version--10.1.8--with no success.
I also re-downloaded and installed PDF Creator and its companion, PDF Architect. Curiously enough, I can't open any PDF in that program either. I'm not sure if there is some global setting I'm missing or something.
Access to these files is critical to my work, so any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Lauren

I updated from within the Adobe Reader X program (Help > Check for Updates) and it tells me: No updates available. Installed: Adober Reader X (10.1.8) MUI
Is 11.0.5 something I would have to access another way?
Also, I'm still not sure if that would fix my problem. It seems most people with the "Access Denied" error had it fixed with the very first 10.1 update, and I have 10.1.8, so I'm not sure what's causing mine.

• I cannot access PDF files from my current BT Yahoo...

Since downloading an updated version of Yahoo Mail a few months ago, I cannot now access PDF files from old e-mail messages which are located in the "Folders" section on the mail screen.  When trying to open them the message "Scanning Attachments" is displayed.  After about 60 seconds a Message is displayed "An Error Occurred whilst Downloading". This never used to happen with the previous version of Yahoo Mail.  I have tried to save the attachments to my laptop and the message reads "Scanning Attachments" which would signify that they had been saved due to no subsequent Error Message being displayed.  I have trawled all through my laptop and cannot find any of the alleged saved PDF files.
I am an old chap and not very computer literate and am hoping you professionals can come up with an answer and fix to this problem, which I believe, was not of my own making.
Whether this has any bearing on the matter, I changed about four months ago from BT Total BB to Infinity Opt1 which includes McAfee security built in as standard.  I have also, as an on-screen reminder, recently updated my Adobe Reader programme to version 11.  I cannot think of any other changes, apart from the new version of Yahoo Mail, that has made this problem come to light as it has.
Your help and assistance in this matter would be most welcome and appreciated.
Thanks You
Ian.

Your problem is typical of the many problems reported with McAfee, and that may well be the cause. McAfee is free with Infinity but isn't built-in in the sense that you have to take it. Is your previous anti-virus still installed? If so, you should get rid of one of them anyway, and the usual advice here would be to ditch McAfee.
Even if McAfee is the your only AV I would replace it. If your previous AV is no longer available there are plenty of free options, and Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is as good a choice as any. There's advice on uninstalling McAfee here.

• Urgent ! problem in accessing pdf file from client

Problem : Unable to access the temp(.pdf) file from the client.
Scenario: I,m working on pdf reports.Pdf file is created each time the user submits the form.
The file can be accessed from the server itself.But can't be accessed from the client.
Description :
Path i,m specifying for run time creation of the .pdf file is :
C:\PStudio\RepMenu|RepMenuWeb\tempp_files\
The C:\ drive is of the server machine.
After creating the temp file say,
C:\PStudio\RepMenu|RepMenuWeb\tempp_files\temp_rpt_53881.pdf
I assign this path to the variable as :
dir_Path=C:\PStudio\RepMenu|RepMenuWeb\tempp_files\temp_rpt_53881.pdf
and also create the hidden variable as :
out.println("<input type='hidden' name='hfile' value="+dir_Path+">");
Now onClick of image I invoke js function as :
function clickOn()
         var path="";
         path=document.form1.hfile.value;
         document.form1.action = path;
         document.form1.submit();
Help me to figure out where I,m making the mistake.
For any futher query Kindly mail me at [email protected]

I had similar issue. Despite of having "Define workstation application in network" for PDF setup for Application Type 3 "print" with Application %AUTO% I was only getting the .pdf file displayed in Adobe Reader instead of getting it printed.
Solution:
set Application to "AcroRd32.exe /t" to get the files opened in the Adobe Reader, printed and closed. The only thing I wasn't able to do was to get the Adobe Reader application closed after the print.

• Why can't I access the PDF files stored in my iBooks without connecting it to internet ?

Hi,
I have nearly 2000 PDF file documents which I have synchronized to iBooks from my DELL laptop.
All the PDF files are individually named as to make it easy for myself to search.
I took it outside in my show where i tried to access it, what I am seeing here is there are no documents appearing on my iBooks. I then connected it to my Mobile phone Internet where I could now see all the 2000 PDF files.
My question here is , if all these files are on the hard drive of my iPad, why do I have to always connect it to the internet to access. This is very difficult as some places where I travel are having very low network coverage. Please help me to sort this issue. Many thanks, Amit

• I can't access some of my PDF files because they haven't been replaced with the proper documents

I was emailed three PDF files, two of these I can't access and the following message shows up:
Please wait...
If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF
viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows®, Mac, or Linux® by

I have downloaded the latest adobe (XI), restarted my computer, cleared my search history on chrome, tried opening the files with internet explorer, and tried getting someone from the adobe chat service to fix the problem. None of these have proved successful.
Please help I need these two files in order to commence my new job. Please don't use complicated, technological language because I won't understand.

Hi Hollyr,
Certain PDF files (dynamic XFA forms) created in Adobe LiveCycle can only be opened in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. When you try to open these files in an alternative PDF viewer, then you will see this error message.
Unfortunately, it's not easy remove this message and modify the PDF so that it can be opened in alternative PDF viewers. The person who created the original form must re-create the form using options that do not restrict which PDF viewers can open and display the file.
Adobe has made the decision that since very few non-Adobe products support these special PDF files, that it is better to show this message -- and require the user to download Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat -- than it is to let the PDF viewer try to render the document. You might want to ask the user to Reader-extend the documents so that you can view it with Adobe Reader.

Rave

• Have been here before but still have not resolved a fix for a black screen when I try to access a PDF file...Now I've got a new iPad and need the User Guide which is only available inPDF

Have been here before but still have not resolved a fix for a black screen when I try to access a PDF file using Safari...Now I've got a new iPad and need the User Guide which is only available in PDF and FireFox will not work.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• Unable to access PDF files after downloading 30-day free trial for ExportPDF

Hello,
Please accept my apology if I have landed on a page that may or may not offer what I do hope, someone might be able to provide a successful solution which will enable me to access a program I downloaded earlier today, Export PDF, offered by Adobe’s website based on a 30-day free trial.
Prior to landing on this page, I tried numerous other venues through their websites, starting even from the original beginning instructions, only to end up in a forum I assume must exist for the purpose in finding an answer I cannot seem to locate.
Had I not spent the amount of time and effort (and desire) in opting to try out this program prior to committing to and purchasing it, I would not bother with seeking a solution.
Following the online instructions to download the specified free trial period, I signed up with all requested information including -- a unique username, password, email address, followed by the process of verifying the given email address, which ultimately displayed a notification window indicating a completed successful installation.
Hoping to export a PDF file I had accessed earlier in the day, when I opened the file a screen I had never seen before popped up. Briefly grayed out (basically blank), a warning message appeared stating that sign in was required by the Adobe member then proceeded by reading The User Terms, which must be agreed to and accepted before access to any documents would be allowed.
Both of these required steps were followed and completed during and after the download and installation process. At the top right hand corner of this page, next to "Welcome, ____________ (my user name)" and the option ( Sign out ), I find it ironic that something I never would have thought to be the difficult and frustrating process it has become, to ultimately be left with one option other than 'Sign out' and that was to click on 'Help' -- which opened the page I am currently on.
So if anyone is willing to entertain this odd dilemma, I offer my genuine appreciation for your time and solution, should one exist. Otherwise, I’ll just (sarcastically) chalk it up to one of those days spent with technology that leaves me wondering why I bothered in the first place.
Again, many thanks for any input and suggestions.

Hi Robyn Renee\'Drake
I'm a bit confused about what service/software you've installed.
There is no trial of the ExportPDF service (and, it's not something that you install; instead, you access if via a website). Perhaps you downloaded the free Adobe Reader, installed that, and then signed up for ExportPDF through Adobe Reader?
Can you try going to http://exportpdf.acrobat.com and try to sign in there with your username and password? If you're able to log in there, you have a subscription to ExportPDF.
Please let me know how it goes, and we can take it from there.
Best,
Sara

• Password needed to access pdf file in email

Ok Im trying to access a pdf file in a email, but when I click on the link a box pops up saying that it is PDF password protected. I have never set up a password, so where do I get this magical password b/c I need to view the email. I have a MAC if that makes a difference. THank you so much if you can help.

It is not because you set a password for the file but the email sender. If you could not open the file with password protected, you will ask help from the pdf author. And if you could not copy or print. you can use PDF Password Remover to rip the restrictions.Best wishes.
