PDF Maker

Is Acrobat 8.1.0 compatible with Windows 7?  I cannot get the PDF Maker to work nor can I print to Adobe.

Acrobat * is not longer supported and PDF Maker has to do with MS Office.
Did you check to see if Acrobat 8 was compatible with your version of MS Office?

  • Error message: Missing PDF maker files in Word 2007

OK, I am beyond frustrated. I have had nothing but trouble with Windows Vista and Adobe Acrobat. Please help!!!
What happens: first, the pdf addin for Word 2007 suddenly becomes disabled, for no apparent reason. Forget about trying to re-enable it through the Add-Ins menu, because Word tells me that the "connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed". This is a problem for me, because I use a special font (Vietnamese) that sometimes gets corrupted when running pdf maker. The only consistent way I have found to avoid this problem is to run the pdf maker as "Quick PDF" and as far as I can see that option is only available through the pdf addin in Word, I have never been able to find it when I open the Acrobat program and create a pdf from there.
Second problem: shortly after the pdf addin becomes disabled, my Acrobat program loses the ability to create pdfs altogether. I get the error message "Missing PDF maker files". Yes, I have tried repairing the installation and re-starting my computer per the instructions given. It doesn't fix the problem. I also tried looking in the Knowledge Database on this website, but it appears that the instructions they have to fix the problem there are for earlier versions of Word, not 2007, because my version of word does not look like the version of Word in their little videos.
This is the second time this has happened. The first time I resolved the problem by a) re-installing Acrobat, which is a pain because it involves calling Adobe and wading through their customer service to get a new installation number, and b) paying a computer repair service to dig deep into the guts of my computer and convince it to change the Office Add-ins to allow the pdf addin again. It worked for about 6 months, and now I have the same problem again. For some reason Vista is spontaneously disabling Acrobat.
I simply cannot deal with this every few months. We all know that Vista is a crappy program, but I run a business and I need a program that works with whatever crappy program Microsoft puts out. Please, can anyone give me suggestions about how to re-enable these functions when Vista disables them?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Acrobat PDF Maker doesn't work after installing UPDATES(!) to Adobe Creative Suite 3 (on Windows 7)

    Hi,
I installed Adobe Creative suite 3 Premium on Widows Vista....then upgraded to Windows 7,...never had any problems.
Today Adobe Update Advisor downloaded and installed some updates to Adobe Professional 8 (that came in a package with Adobe CS3 premium)....since then (it has been 3-4 hours), I cannot convert any document into PDF using ANY application MS Office 2007, as a Printer in browser...etc..
    The error message says:
    "Missing PDF Maker Files.
Do you want to run installer in repair mode?"
I clicked on Yes, then waited, then restarted my PC, and that didn't solve the problem"
Adobe Support (a very unfriendly guy) told me that AdobeProfessional 8 support for Windows 7 is not available and that I can either upgrade to Adobe 9 (no way, I paid way too much money for Adobe CS3), refer to Adobe Forum, or reinstall Adobe CS3.
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem without reinstalling the whole CS3?
    Thanks .

Why did you “upgrade” to Windows 7?
Shouldn't have Microsoft given you free updates to Windows XP or Windows Vista to give you all the fixes that appeared in Windows 7?
Do you expect an automobile manufacturer to retrofit at no cost to you your two year old vehicle with the latest doodads associated with the latest in consumer electronics, automated toll taking, and GPS?
Accounting rules in the United States associated with something called “revenue recognition” limit what companies can do to retrofit products with new features after they are released/sold. Supporting significant differences and/or features in a new operating system version or for that matter incompatibilities and features in another application (such as new versions of Office) require significant modifications to accounting practices to hold reserves to account for the possibility of such updates. Furthermore, ignoring these accounting and finance ramifications, keeping an extra set of engineers working to retrofit old software versions would significantly increase Adobe's costs and hence the price charged for this software.
Be aware that except for custom software with ongoing maintenance and/or retainer contracts, typical commercial software is licensed for use with the equipment and software environment that it was originally designed for and that fact is already built into the cost and pricing structures. The pricing of upgrades to new software versions reflects the cost of providing support for newer equipment and software environments as well as any new features.

  • PDF Maker crashing Outlook 2013 in Windows 8.1

    I have:
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Outlook 2013 64-bit
    Adobe Acrobat XI Standard, 11.0.06
    This is what I do:
Start Outlook. Outllok crashes: Displays popup window saying "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working". The only option is "Close program" I click which closes the popup window. Outlook did not start at all.
I start Outlook a second time. This time Outlook starts but has a yellow bar at the top that says, "ADD-IN PROBLEM". I click to view Disabled Add-Ins. PDF Maker Office COM Add-in is disabled. I click to enable.
I close Outlook. Then I start Outlook again. Outlook crashes as before. The second time has PDF Maker disabled as before, etc.
Looks like Adobe PDF Maker crashes Outlook 2013.

I'm surprised that nobody from Adobe replied. I guess Adobe does not care if users are having problems using their software.
In any case, I found that if you right-click on Outlook, then run Outlook in administrator mode, Outlook starts up, and PDF Maker does not crash Outlook. So I guess that means that if you want the extra protection of not running Outlook in Administrator mode, then you cannot use Adobe Acrobat.
I like Adobe Acrobat. So, this leaves me in a quandry. I tried other PDF makers and editors. I like Adobe Acrobat the best. I remember Nuance's PDF software was so buggy. As far as I can tell, Adobe Acrobat has only one bug, and that bug is only in the PDF Maker part. Everything else Adobe has been working. But I also don't want to give up the protection by having to run Outlook in Administrator Mode.

  • Word, Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and PDF Maker

I am still using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and I also have Office 2010 installed on my Windows 7 laptop. Is there a way to get PDF Maker to work in Office? Right now when I open Word for example the PDF tab does not appear anywhere. I tried running the repair feature in Acrobat but nothing has changed.
I believe Office needs to be installed first then Acrobat so PDF Maker can be installed. I did this intially when I had Office 2007 but then I unintalled it and installed Office 2010 and I'm guessing that is why things aren't working. Am I going to need to reinstall Acrobat 9 Pro Extended?

  • PDF Maker not shown in excel 2013 ribbon

I have got Windows 7 64-bit. I have excel 2013 installed on it. I have recently installed every version of adobe acrobat reader but when i open excel I cant see the PDF Maker add-in in the ribbon.
I have checked it in COM-Add ins list and it is being marked checked. But its not showing up. I have currently installed version 11 of adobe acrobat XI Pro. But issue remains same.
I have searched on google.com a lot but did not find anything.
    Can anyone help?
What should I install to get the PDF Maker in the ribbon? Any fixes?

You have to do the updates to AA XI before the ribbon comes up in OFFICE. OFFICE 2013 came out after AA XI and the updates addressed the fixes.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8. Receiving error "Missing PDF maker files"

I have had this software for several years and have had no problems.
I am receiving the error note above when trying to merge two files into a single PDF file.
I tried reloading the software and also looked on line for updates. There were no updates posted.
    Any ideas?

You have to have AA8.1 to use PDF Maker with OFFICE 2007. With AA7, you can only print to the Adobe PDF printer. If you are upgrading to Win7, then upgrade to AA9 to go with it.

  • PDF maker issue in Leopard and Word 2004

I just upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5.8, Acrobat Pro 8.1.6, Word 2004 (11.3.8). When using Word in 10.4, the PDF Maker toolbar worked fine. Now in Leopard, using the PDF Maker button, I get an error that the printer is not present. But it is there and I can print to Acrobat printer fro the print menu of any app. I tried repair acrobat installation from the Acrobat help menu. But that keeps telling me I have Safari or a Microsoft app open when all are closed.
    Thoughts?

Repair the printer subsystem not needed/done in Leopard according to other sources.
    I tried:
    Start-up in safe mode
new test account with no login items
    repair permissions
    maintenance tasks
still, I get the message from Acrobat that I need to quit MS or Safari apps.
    Very strange!

  • Apple's PDF Maker

I've run into a problem creating PDFs out of Quark 6.52 and 7.0 probably due to an image or a font being used. In desperation to provide a PDF for a client I have used "Save As PDF" in the print dialog to make a PDF.
My question is: Can I alter that PDF maker to produce a PDF with "As Is" color and also increase the resolution of the images being used in the document?

That is not true. I've opened a pdf made that way in Acrobat Professional and all the elements in the pdf were separate. Even the text was editable. The problem is I need to create the pdf with one inch bleed, registration and trim marks. so a tiff would not work here.

  • Effect of Adobe "print" settings when using PDF-Maker or printing to PDF

I have accidentally found that the fonts and ('microscopic') visual appearance of a document can change depending upon the setting of the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts" which is accessed under Print > Properties > Adobe PDF Settings from within MS Word (2003).  [Acrobat 9.1.0 Pro (trial)].
I had initially thought this was a difference between the print-to-PDF route, and the PDF-Maker route.  There may be a difference, but the more important effect is the settings on the PDF printer, which you might not think to set if using the PDF-Maker. That is, the settings of the PDF printer affect the result of using the PDF-Maker.
Apparently it doesn't matter whether 'system fonts' are embedded in the document or not (for this example).
    Examples follow.
    —DIV
P.S. See my initial query at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/419516.

I am struggling a bit to make sense out of all the files, but a general comment on the process is this. PDF Maker is basically a preprocessor for the Adobe PDF printer. The settings in the PDF Maker preferences can override the settings in the printer. What PDF Maker does is to basically create PDF Marks in the PS file that the printer creates to allow for Distiller to create bookmarks and such. For a comparison, you need to see which job settings are used in each and the options that each job settings uses. Including the system fonts in the PS does not make any difference except to make the PS file smaller. The system will go get the fonts at the time that Distiller creates the PDF (at least that is supposed to be the process). The job settings file will make a difference about whether a font will be embedded or not. As I recall, there were different fonts embedded and used in various versions of your PDFs. The fonts can be viewed with the font tab of the document properties.
This does not answer the questions, but may give you some idea about the process and what to look for as you create these files. It may be that different job settings are used and such, causing a comparison of apples and oranges. I don't have time to look further now, but that might give you some things to consider. (I may not have helped much here since my comments are apparently similar to what I said in the other post).

  • Acrobat 6.0 Pro PDF Maker & CutePDF

    Hi there,
I have Acrobat 6.0 Professional installed on my computer (Windows XP). I recently had CutePDF installed on my system as well. Since this, my Acrobat PDF Maker will not create a PDF (from Excel 2002) as it used to. It freezes up part way through the conversion.
Any way to get Acrobat to make me PDFs without removing CutePDF?
    Thanks!

You need to go through and see where the bottleneck is. It may be simplest to do a repair in the control panel.
If you want to check, start by printing to the Adobe PDF printer. If that does not work, try a print to file and then open the file in Distiller. If the 2 part process works, then you likely have a problem with AcroTray not running. Simply be sure it is in your startup menu. You can also simply start it from the Distiller folder.

  • Acrobat 8 and 9 PDF maker

    Hello all,
We have noticed some differences between results from each version of PDF maker. I cant figure out if its just the way it should work or its something you can change in the wide range of settings
PDF maker Acrobat 8 (from a WORD file) : Most transparancies will come out ok, but still some will go wrong. Bookmarks will be included
PDF maker Acrobat 9 (from a WORD file) : Nearly all transparancies will come out good, but the big reason is that now almost all illustrations will be a single compressed image instead of a sharp vectored one. Also the bookmarks from (for example) the index will be lost in the PDF file.
    So my biggest questions are:
Why in Acrobat 9 are images compressed and flattened instead of vectored?
Why wont the bookmarks be included?
We are quite experienced with the software here but up untill now we are not able to figure this out.
If anyone has some inside on this please share!
    Regards,
    Martijn

I had the slow scrolling problem, too. Just occurred out the blue on December 15, 2010. Here's the simplest solution:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Standard/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7d1b. w.html
This link deals with the auto scrolling function under "View" at the top of your Adobe Reader page. Basically, with your Adobe document open and watching "auto scrolling" (i.e. your pages scrolling very slowly), hit a number (1-9) to adjust the speed of scrolling. I picked 5.
Then, go to "View" again and select "Auto Scrolling" to turn off this function.
Now, re-open your Adobe Reader document (if closed) and you should be able to scroll at a "normal" and not slow pace.
Hope I'm right with this one.
    Happy Holidays.

  • PDF maker, Acrobat 9.0, Excel 2007 - wrong page sizes

When I use PDF maker, or "Create PDF", with my entire excel workbook, the sheet sizes come out randomly, though they are set as 8.5X11.
I notice there have been many reported problems.  Are there any current solutions?
    Thanks.

Thanks for that, I have checked thwe Word Document and the 'lines' are actually Cells so it would appear that the creator has copied
in these from a spreadsheet, into a Word document and then created the PDF.
The resolution is set to 300DPI in the PDF and the lines appear when unticking the Line Weights, however, this change isn't saved, if you can advise me on how to save the document with the line weights option unticked then that would be brilliant!
Thanks for your time helping me with this!

  • Acrobat 7 Professional - PDF Maker

I encounter a problem trying to create a PDF from file option in Acrobat, choosing a Word document. It will begin to process the Word document, but then dissappear - no visible dialog within the Acrobat application window. The same thing will happen in the 'from multiple files' option. It will build from a Excel file and from some small Word documents. It will build a from within the Word application. Anyone have an answer why it does not work in Acrobat?
Environment: Windows XP SP3; Acrobat 7.1.0 Pro; MS Office 2003 Pro

Sorry, but I still do not see any comment in your original post that it worked directly from WORD and failed in Acrobat. You say some small files work fine from Acrobat. For the larger files that fail, do they succeed if you print from WORD. If the print works, do they work form WORD if you use PDF Maker? I have asked about specific processes of creating the PDF and you have only said it works from WORD. How did you create the file from WORD -- print or PDF Maker?

  • Office 2010 : PDF Maker Pane is missing in ribbon

    Hi,
After upgrading from MICROSOFT Office 2007 to 2010, I notice that PDF Maker is missing in Office Ribbon.
I tried Repairing & Reinstalling ADOBE Acrobat 9.0 (+ Update to 9.3.2) but still the same problem.
    Another try :
Fresh install of Windows XP SP3 + Office 2010 Pro + Acrobat 9.0 + Acrobat Update to 9.2.0 + Acrobat Update to 9.3.2
    Same Problem
COM Addin is active but PDF Maker Pane is missing in Office 2010 Ribbon.
I tried soluce in article 330984 (kb) but without success.
... so is Acrobat PDF Maker Addin is compatible with Office 2010 Pro (Word, Excel, ...) ?
Is there a fix or should I wait next patch from ADOBE ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @Pramod Sarma
I've updated my Acrobat to 9.3.4, rebooted my system, I see the Add-in under Options> Add-ins>  Active Application Add-ins and can choose it under COM Add-Ins.  BUT  it does NOT show up in the Menu Bar of the Program Word, Excel, etc.  No Tab, No nothing.  Its still doesn't work.
Does anyone have a trick to reactivate it somehow?
AND by the way,  YOU CAN select Save-As and Select PDF and it works JUST fine!  I just did it.
Also, as fix for all of you that say we are whining about not having the PDF maker "QUICK" links in the menu-bar, YES you can click File>Print and choose PDF to print to as well.
It would just be nice to have a ONE-CLICK option back.
    Thanks!
SO, to RECAP... you can do the Two or Three Click options of PRINT and choose PDF or you can do SAVE-AS and choose PDF.... BUT again it would be nice to have a working ONE Click option.  Thank you again

    BizGuru,
    Somethings to consider.
--| In Windows - the OS needs a goodly space for 'elbow room' - you don't want to have HDD free space drop below something like 15%.
Say your HDD is 600GB, 60GB free space is leaving you 10%...
-| RAM - May not be enough; more is better <g>.
--| Virtual Memory - if in Windows, open up Task Manager. Look at all the "stuff" there. Most is not required by the OS.
Most of the listing is "stuff" associated with a full cart of processes associated with things you may not need or use but they suck up resources.
