Pdf report and xhost+ on console

Hi All,
For running pdf reports ,do we need to start xhost+ on console itself??
Now we are executing xhost+ from console(graphical console)
But now we are going for lpar ,so we wants to know , is it necessary to run xhost+ from console itself.
Otherwise can we ran xhost from terminal,ie 1.0

  • Generating PDF Report and Mailing from APEX through DBMS_SCHEDULER job

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to generate pdf reports and mail them from our apex app through a DBMS_SCHEDULER job. The DBMS_SCHEDULER job calls a PL/SQL procedure which has the logic for calling the APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT API (Function Signature 3) passing the application_id, the report_query_name and the report_layout_name  to generate the pdf report output. The APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT call is returning NULL when called from the DBMS_SCHEDULER job (It doesn't throw any exception as well!). But the same procedure when called from an APEX App Page Process that is invoked on an event like a Button click, the API returns the PDF report output.
    I am also setting the APEX workspace security_group_id at the beginning of the PL/SQL procedure as follows:
    l_workspace_id := apex_util.find_security_group_id (p_workspace => 'MY_WORKSPACE');
    apex_util.set_security_group_id (p_security_group_id => l_workspace_id);
    Any idea on what might be going wrong? Any alternative ways to generate the report output in the PL/SQL procedure?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sujesh K K

    I was able to do a workaround for this issue by rebooting the DB.
    As per ID 579281.1, this is a bug in 11.1.0.6 and we need to upgrade the version to 11.1.0.7 or apply a one -off patch.
    Thanks,

  • Fonts problems with PDF reports and Lexmark printers

    Hi,
    since yesterday we use Oracle Reports Services 10.1.2.3.0 as our productive reports services.
    When we print PDF reports on one of the following printers, the fonts size isn't correct (in the report defined as font size 8, on the paper the font size is about 16!).
    - Lexmark T620 PS3
    - Lexmark W820 PS3
    The printers work correct if I print out a PDF file via Adobe Acrobat Reader.
    Best regards
    Flo

    Hi,
    I'm afraid that this was a couple of years ago so I can't remember the font we used.
    If memory serves then I think it is something to do with True Type fonts.
    Have you searched Metalink? I think that's where I originally got some advice about the fonts in PDF documents.

  • PDF reports and forms11g, Weblogic, call report from form, parameters

    Hi All.
    I had difficulty to put to work reports 11g on pdf format. this is how I solve it.
    I hope help any of you and also anyoe can correct me if Im wrong.
    1. I have installed an configured the weblogic server 10.3.3, also Forms, Reports, Portal, Discoverer 11.1.1.3.0 and database 11.2
    2. I re-compiled my forms and reports 10gR2 on 11g, also the pll libraries.
    3. This is how I call the report from my form, I add parameters to a parameter list called PL then invoke the rp2rro prucedure that is located at rp2rrp.pl library:
    PL := create_parameter_list(TDATA);
    add_parameter(PL,'PARAMFORM',TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO');
    add_parameter(PL,'ORIENTATION',TEXT_PARAMETER,'PORTRAIT');
    add_parameter(PL,'EMPRESA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:GLOBAL.COMPANY);
    add_parameter(PL,'NB_EMPRESA',TEXT_PARAMETER,:GLOBAL.COMPANYNAME);
    add_parameter(PL,'DESFORMAT',TEXT_PARAMETER,:CG$CTRL.DESFORMAT);
    rp2rro.SETREPORTSSERVER(:GLOBAL.REPORTSERVER);
    add_parameter(PL,'SESION',TEXT_PARAMETER,TO_CHAR(SESION));
    Add_Parameter(pl, 'DESTYPE', TEXT_PARAMETER, 'SCREEN');
    rp2rro.rp2rro_run_product(REPORTS, :CG$CTRL.REPORT_TYPE, SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, PL, NULL);
    destroy_parameter_list(PL);
    4. when pr2rro gets the parameter list (PL) did not find the Desformat parameter that I sent from the form. so I edit the pr2rro.pll library. this is the zone of the code edited:
    (just added the number var "Desfn" that the get_parameter_attr() will need above.
    PACKAGE BODY rp2rro IS
         /* Package variables */
    rp2rroDesformat varchar2(30);
         rp2rroDesname varchar2(200);
         rp2rroDestype varchar2(30);
         rp2rroReportOther varchar2(2000):='';
    rp2rroComm_mode number := Synchronous;
         rp2rroReportServer varchar2(100);
         rp2rroVirtualDir          varchar2(100);
    rp2rroReportsInterface varchar2(30);
    /* this line by ingenio*/
         Desfn                    number;
    5. a couple of lines above, you can find this:
    (here I added get_parameter_attr(mparamlist_id,'DESFORMAT',Desfn,rp2rroDesformat); to asign the value of the parameter called Desformat to the rp2rroDesformat var)
    PROCEDURE rp2rro_run_product(product NUMBER,reportFile VARCHAR2,commMode NUMBER,engine NUMBER,fileLocation NUMBER,mparamlist_id ParamList,display VARCHAR2) IS
    BEGIN
         /* Handle only calls to Reports */
         /* this line by ingenio*/
    get_parameter_attr(mparamlist_id,'DESFORMAT',Desfn,rp2rroDesformat);
              IF product = REPORTS THEN
              Handle_rp2rro_run_product(product, reportFile,commMode,engine,fileLocation,mparamlist_id);
              END IF;
    END;
    Its now working fine with PDF, RTF, HTML, Delimited formats, Not with EXCEL(spreadsheet) Im working in that.
    I accept any help.
    Thanlks
    Edited by: Ingenio on Nov 29, 2011 2:44 PM

    I solved my problem editing the rp2rro.pll library,I debugged the library and I found the format sent by forms was missing, so I catch it and set it directly:
    GET_PARAMETER_ATTR(mparamlist_id, 'DESFORMAT',vnumb,vvalue);
                   setDesformat (vvalue);

  • Include large .gif and .jpg in pdf reports how?

    hi
    please can anyone enlighten me. i wish to include large(ish) graphics in pdf reports and this works if it is a small gif file of about 5Kb. anything over that fails.
    i have read the document in http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/hol08/apexprnt/apexprnt2_otn.htm and this works with extremely small gif files ONLY!!
    this is something i need to resolve urgently and would REVERE any solution.
    thanks

    Have the same problem too.
    When i'm creating xlst template larger than 40kb pdf generation fails.
    I damped request data recived by apex_fop.jsp and it shows that there is some (about 50) corrupted bytes between 40kb and 50kb.
    Same problem happens when there are to much data in xml, because it comes together in http post request.
    I suppose that there is some problems with utl_http, that corrupts some of report data. Or the post reques is not well-formed by apex.

  • Storing oracle-reports generated pdf-report onto a blob

    Hey ppl,
    I have this requirement:
    I basically generate a report from Jdev using a remote servlet call to oracle reports, which very neatly generates the pdf document for me and stores it locally. The problem is immediately storing this onto the DB as a blob once the report is generated. I know how to store the pdf as a blob onto the DB. I know how to make the call to oracle-reports and generate my pdf. What I don't know is to sequentially first generate the local pdf report and only once that has been generated proceed to store it onto my DB.
    I want it to be done within the scope of a single request. As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle. I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
    As soon as the report has been requested by the user, I want the pdf file(which is generated by the reports) to also be stored onto the DB.
    My problem (which i apologize has been repeated already 2wice above) is that I basically lose control once redirected through the servlet to the report call. There is no way i can instruct Jdev, from the reports side, that the pdf has been generated and now has to be stored onto the DB, as i have lost the session context by redirecting to a different servlet.
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Cheers
    K

    Hi,
    its quite some time ago that I a looked Oracle Reports, however, I think that the event mechanism is quite complex to achieve
    I want it to be done within the scope of a single request.
    Which means that if Oracle Reports hangs, the user session follows.
    As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle.
    Unfortunately you don't control how long reports run, which means that there is no sense in stopping the page lifecycle for this
    I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
    Fair enough, but as far as I remember there is an eventing in Reports that would allow you to have the Oracle Reports Server triggering the upload
    So I think, the architecture I would go for is:
    - user requests report
    - report generates PDF output
    - reports uploads to DB
    - reports_processing table holds user ID and reports ID plus flag to update when report is done
    - If using JSF, you could use af:poll to check frequently for the report to be finished.

  • How to add entire new row at the top of table in pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp

    Hi for past 3 days i was thinking and breaking my head on how to add entire new at top table created in pdf report from c# windows forms with iTextSharp.
    First: I was able to create/export sql server data in form of table in pdf report from c# windows forms. Given below is the code in c#.
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Configuration;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Data;
    using System.IO;
    using System.Data.SqlClient;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using iTextSharp.text;
    using iTextSharp.text.pdf;
    namespace DRRS_CSharp
    public partial class frmPDFTechnician : Form
    public frmPDFTechnician()
    InitializeComponent();
    private void btnExport_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    Document doc = new Document(PageSize.A4.Rotate());
    var writer= PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new FileStream("Technician22.pdf", FileMode.Create));
    doc.SetMargins(50, 50, 50, 50);
    doc.SetPageSize(new iTextSharp.text.Rectangle(iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Width, iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Height));
    doc.Open();
    PdfPTable table = new PdfPTable(7);
    table.TotalWidth=585f;
    table.LockedWidth = true;
    PdfPTable inner = new PdfPTable(1);
    inner.WidthPercentage = 115;
    PdfPCell celt=new PdfPCell(new Phrase(new Paragraph("Institute/Hospital:AIIMS,NEW DELHI",FontFactory.GetFont("Arial",14,iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD,BaseColor.BLACK))));
    inner.AddCell(celt);
    Paragraph para = new Paragraph("DCS Clinical Report-Technician wise", FontFactory.GetFont("Arial", 14, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK));
    para.Alignment = iTextSharp.text.Element.TITLE;
    iTextSharp.text.Image png = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance("logo5.png");
    png.ScaleToFit(95f, 95f);
    png.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_RIGHT;
    SqlConnection conn=new SqlConnection("Data Source=NPD-4\\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DRRS;Integrated Security=true");
    SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("Select t.technician_id,td.Technician_first_name,td.Technician_middle_name,td.Technician_last_name,t.technician_dob,t.technician_sex,td.technician_type from Techniciandetail td,Technician t where td.technician_id=t.technician_id and td.status=1", conn);
    conn.Open();
    SqlDataReader dr;
    dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    table.AddCell("ID");
    table.AddCell("First Name");
    table.AddCell("Middle Name");
    table.AddCell("Last Name");
    table.AddCell("DOB" );
    table.AddCell("Gender");
    table.AddCell("Designation");
    while (dr.Read())
    table.AddCell(dr[0].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[1].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[2].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[3].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[4].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[5].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[6].ToString());
    dr.Close();
    table.SpacingBefore = 15f;
    doc.Add(para);
    doc.Add(png);
    doc.Add(inner);
    doc.Add(table);
    doc.Close();
    The code executes well with no problem and get all datas from tables into table in PDF report from c# windows forms.
    But here is my problem how can i align Title(DCS Clinical Report-Technician wise) center of pdf report with image named:logo5.png immediately coming to it's right?.
    As the problem i am facing is my title or Header(DCS Clinical Report-Technician wise) is at top of my image named:logo5.png and not coming to it's center position of my image.
    Second the problem i am facing is how to add new entire row to top of existing table in pdf report from c# windows form using iTextSharp?.
    given in below is the row and it's data . So how do i add the given below row and it's data to my top my table in pdf report from c# windows forms using itextsharp?
    as you can see how i create my columns in table in pdf report and populate it with sql server data. Given the code below:
    Document doc = new Document(PageSize.A4.Rotate());
    var writer= PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new FileStream("Technician22.pdf", FileMode.Create));
    doc.SetMargins(50, 50, 50, 50);
    doc.SetPageSize(new iTextSharp.text.Rectangle(iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Width, iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Height));
    doc.Open();
    PdfPTable table = new PdfPTable(7);
    table.TotalWidth=585f;
    table.LockedWidth = true;
    Paragraph para = new Paragraph("DCS Clinical Report-Technician wise", FontFactory.GetFont("Arial", 14, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK));
    para.Alignment = iTextSharp.text.Element.TITLE;
    iTextSharp.text.Image png = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance("logo5.png");
    png.ScaleToFit(95f, 95f);
    png.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_RIGHT;
    SqlConnection conn=new SqlConnection("Data Source=NPD-4\\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DRRS;Integrated Security=true");
    SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("Select t.technician_id,td.Technician_first_name,td.Technician_middle_name,td.Technician_last_name,t.technician_dob,t.technician_sex,td.technician_type from Techniciandetail td,Technician t where td.technician_id=t.technician_id and td.status=1", conn);
    conn.Open();
    SqlDataReader dr;
    dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    table.AddCell("ID");
    table.AddCell("First Name");
    table.AddCell("Middle Name");
    table.AddCell("Last Name");
    table.AddCell("DOB" );
    table.AddCell("Gender");
    table.AddCell("Designation");
    while (dr.Read())
    table.AddCell(dr[0].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[1].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[2].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[3].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[4].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[5].ToString());
    table.AddCell(dr[6].ToString());
    dr.Close();
    table.SpacingBefore = 15f;
    doc.Add(para);
    doc.Add(png);
    doc.Add(table);
    doc.Close();
    So my question is how to make my column headers in bold?
    So these are my questions.
    1. how can i align Title(DCS Clinical Report-Technician wise) center of pdf report with image named:logo5.png immediately coming to it's right?.
    2. how do i add the given below row and it's data to my top my table in pdf report from c# windows forms using itextsharp?
    3.how to make my column headers in bold?
    I know that i have to do some modifications to my code but i dont know how to do it. Can anyone help me please.
    Any help or guidance in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    I’m sorry for the issue that you are hitting now.
    This itextsharp is third party control, for this issue, I recommended to consult the control provider directly, I think they can give more precise troubleshooting.

  • Not getting Euro Symbol in PDF Report using XML Publisher

    Hi,
    We have developed an Oracle Report from Report Builder 6i and also a Template in RTF Format.
    We are using XML Publisher to display our XML Output in PDF Format to Users..
    There is a Field called Comments on Customer Transaction Form, where user can enter any characters and that we are querying in Report and displaying on the PDF Output.
    Currently, the user entered a Euro Character on the comments section and that was not visible to user on PDF Report and replaced by a Question Mark as below:
    "3% price reduction ?89.91, 20% marine"
    When i am Querying to the Database, i am able to see the Euro Symbol, but when i checked the XML generated on the Unix Box for the Report. I found as below:
    "3% price reduction \342\202\25489.91, 20% marine"
    So, the Euro Symbol on the database is replaced by " \342\202\254" in the XML Output and ? in the PDF Outbut.
    Please help ASAP.

    one way
    value set based on view (view - select level id, chr(level) cl connect by level <= 500)
    for example, chr(64) - @
    so in xml you have code of @. sample xml is
    <ROWSET>
      <ROW>64</ROW>
    </ROWSET>in rtf template pick
    <?xdofx:chr(to_number(ROW))?>
    select chr(14844588)  from dual

  • Pdf report not saving in to the local system

    Hi,
    I am facing some issue with PDF report. We have written code to generate PDF report using java to generate the report we have used the jasper API. We were able to generate the pdf report and we have written a code to appear the save as dialog box (to save the PDF report). In the Save As dialog box---in the Save as type dropdown box there is no tag for *.pdf.
    Also if are giving manually some temp.pdf as the file name also it is saving on to local machine.
    Please kindly post the solutions.
    The java script code is:
    var myWin = window.open('temp.pdf', , 'left=5000,ScreenX=5000');
              myWin.document.execCommand('SaveAs',true, 'temp.pdf');
              myWin.close();

    That is not his problem. He want to force the client to automatically save the file and lock the filename somehow.
    That, fortunately, is not possible. Him is also been told that here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5185876

    I found a solution to this problem. You need to 'fragment' your table the following way:
    Add the existing table to the document (after, say, 50 rows)
    Remove all rows from the existing table
    Set skipFirstHeader() to true (or the header will repeat)
    Add new rows to the table until you hit the threshhold
    At the end, add the final table fragment to the documentThe issue apparently stems from memory management within i-Text and the amount of data that can be held in a stream. You can find a code example at:
    http://itext.sourceforge.net/examples/com/lowagie/examples/objects/tables/pdfptable/FragmentTable.java
    Happy rendering.

  • Emailing PDF Reports from Workspace in 10GR3

    Hi all,
    There is an option in the workspace of 10GR3 to generate PDF and Excel reports of instances Aborted/Completed/InProcess by filtering them and then hitting the Output Options button to generate a PDF or Excel reports out of these.
    But this has be done manually by somebody logging into the workspace, filtering out the data required and then generating PDF or Excel reports out of the data filtered and then saving the report to one's own desktop and then emailing the report to the managers.
    Can this be automated?
    Can OBPM 10GR3 automatically filter, generate these PDF reports and send them to the Participants which required to be emailed with the PDF reports as attachments?

    You could use PAPI inside a method in a Global Automatic to create a list of the aborted, completed and in process instances. You'd want to have this Global Automatic's property set to run as often as you want the email recipients to receive their emails.
    There is no OOTB PDF generation capability in Oracle BPM, but the iText Java library works very well for this.
    You'd need to:
    1. Write a little Java class that accepts a hash table as an incoming parameter and uses the values received to create and populate a PDF. This class calls methods in the iText library (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) that populate the PDF document with the values it's passed.
    2. Jar the class and expose this and the iText "iText-2.1.7.jar" file as an External Resource in Oracle BPM.
    3. In a method in Oracle BPM, set the values in a hash table from the values in your BPM Object and call the Java method you wrote using the hash table as an incoming parameter.
    Rather than creating a PDF from scratch each time, you can also start with an Adobe AcroForm. You'd use this as a template and fill the form's bookmarked fields in using the fields sent in from the hash table.
    Once the PDF has been created, you'd use the Catalog's Fuego.Net.Mail component method to attach the file to the instance (see the "attachments[]" attribute) and send the email.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Auto Download PDF report in desktop

    Hi,
    i have a requirement to autosave a standard PDF report every week to a defined path in the desktop of my system.
    How can we do it in APEX ? i know to manually run the application to print and save the PDF to desktop.
    But Since it is more than 10 PDF reports and it has to be done frequently ; there is a need to do this automatically.
    I would appreciate any help.

    Would this  be useful to you?

  • E-mailing pdf-report from Adobe

    In a Forms application running on a 10g applicationserver (9.0.4.1.0) I am calling a reportserver to create a pdf-report and show it on the screen. I am using web.show_document to achieve this. The report is shown in Adobe Reader in the Browser window (Int Explorer). If I then press the Email button in Adobe a new Outlook message window is opened with the pdf-file already inserted as attachment. This allows me to sent the Report immediately by E-mail.
    I have a two questions regarding the use of the feature.
    I am performing application management on the application for a costomer on a different location. The feature described above works in my development surrondings. The customer can do the same actions as described, with the exception that the report is NOT automatically attached to the new mail-message. I am trying to determine the reason for this.
    The E-mailing feature and linking as attachment seems to work fine when used outside the browser. Also, when opening a pdf-file from the internet and pushing the Email button the file is automatically linked as attachment. These steps work equally for me and the client. However, when starting from a reportserver the attachment is missing for the client, as described above.
    What could be the reason for the difference in behaviour? The only difference that I see is that the costomer uses Adobe 6 (an not able to upgrade) and I am using Adobe 7.
    Another question is regarding the name of the attachment. What determines the name of the attachment the Outlook uses when performing this type of E-mailing?

    Hi,
    you really should ask thsi question on an Adobe forum because this would happen to any PDF files not only those generated by Reports or accessed from Forms.
    Do you know that Oracle Reports, since version 9i, can send PDF attached to emails ?

  • Scheduled PDF report

    I might need to implement a report for a client that runs automatically via a job. This is going to be tricky as it doesn't have access to session state so I am not sure of the best option.
    One option is that the report runs and dumps data to a report output table. The report is then generated when a user examines an aggregate list of these report data dumps so the report is generated in their APEX session but is based on data that was captured at the correct schedule.
    Does anyone have any ideas or is there an alternative method not considered here?

    I'd schedule via a job rather than in APEX but doing this means I need to save report parameters in a table rather than access page item values as the report will be run as a separate process to the conventional report in APEX itself.
    If I could run the report as an APEX user and output to PDF I could theoretically save the PDF report and not worry about the data. I don't think this approach will be viable so I'll be going for a modified version of a system similar to the one you describe.
    I guess one option would be to dynamically generate a table or materialized view in the job and then, based on the naming of this we could determine the report from the supporting report tables which will hold the query and optional parameters.
    I'm still all ears for alternatives.....
