Pdf report save in local pc as a file from oralce forms

dear all,
when button pressed event :
I want to save a report (pdf, xls, doc) in my local pc as a file. already i can do it in application server in different path different type of extension . and its works internally. internally i can save it as a file. but i want to do it in local machine.like (c:\One\test.pdf , d:\two\two.xls, d:\three\three.doc) same report. its not display in the screen. its just save as a file. is it possible?? if it possible then give me instruction.
can i use webutil?? if yes how can??

We do it without webutil. First, we create a report that the user can view and download in their web browser. Then use web.show_document() in Forms to call the report using its URL.

hi all.
i have an application in oracle forms 6i. The system from where forms are run...has a local folder with pdf documents. the requirement is that when user click on a button in oracle form...the respective pdf from the local folder should open (in browser or in adobe pdf or in any other way).
I really desperately need this help. had googled. did use the host and client_host commands in the button trigger but am presented with error "host, client_host" not declared.

Report is taking too much time when running from parameter form

Dear All
I have developed report in oracle reports bulider 10g. while running it from report builder data is coming very fast.
But, If it is running from parameter form it is taking too much time to format report in PDF.
Please suggest any configuration or setting if anybody is having Idea.

Hi,
The first thing to check is whether the query is running to completion in TOAD. By default, TOAD just selects the first 50 rows, where as Discoverer must return all the rows before displaying results if a crosstab report is used.
Secondly, check that the queries and the explain plans are the same in Discoverer and Toad. Although, Discoverer shows the SQL in the SQL inspector this isn't necessarily the SQL actually sent to the database. Use TOAD to interogate the Discoverer session to determine the actual SQL and compare this SQL and explain plan to SQL you ran in TOAD.
Thirdly, check that the session context is the same in both cases. So check that any custom contexts and the USER_ENV context is the same, and if any security packages or VPD policies are used in the SQL that these have been initialised the same.
If you still cannot determine the difference then trace both sessions.

I have a pdf file in the server , I need to call this and open when a button is pressed in the oracle forms.

you don't mention the Forms release you are running.
If you are running Forms on the web, you can use
web.show_document() to load files from the Web if
they are accessible via HTTP.

Bug Report: "Save For Web" creates undeletable temp files

This is an odd one but sometimes (maybe 1 in every 30 times) I am doing a "save for web" from PhotoShop it creates (in addition to the requested *real* file) an undeleteable temp file in the folder where the real file is being saved.
Here is how one looks:
This is what I see when I try to delete it:
Restarting the Finder from Activity Monitor makes this temp file disappear.
This started happening since I upgraded to an OWC Mercury Extreme hard drive so I suspect it has something to do with how files are deleted from it (but I have no evidence whatsoever to support this. :-) )

Generate .PDF file from Oracle Form and print .pdf

Hello, I am new to oracle form. I need direction on how to create .pdf file on a button click.
The requirement is when user click a button on a form, I need to write some data to the pdf file and open the .pdf file for print.
I am using Oracle Form builder 10.1.2.0.2

I purchased Acrobat pdf 21/11/14 and after adding 2 files from my documents folder (both pdf files) one is printable and the other cannot be printed as the print option on the control bar does not function.I need an email address for support now

I want to save updated record only in stage table from the form..

I have created form with two block
1...criteria base block
2....details block....(This database block i.e. on stage table).
I am inserting data into detail block (i.e. stage table )with no commit through find button.
data is showing there with status 'FRESH'
suppose i changed item cost, now status goes change to 'NEW'
now when i am saving it is saving all data into stage but i want to save only data with 'NEW' status.
Please Help me
I tried it by deleting data from stage where status ='FRESH' on post_update trigger but is not supporting.

I previously created timelines in Photoshop, somehow, but quite easily I seem to remember, I saved OR exported the files as .swf files. I can't remember how, can someone suggest something please?

How to auto save pdf report through forms 6i

we are using the forms-6i and database 9i. and report builder-6i
here our requirement is calling the rdf report at the time of saving the form. and rdf report has opened pdf . that should be save into client machine automatically with prescribed file name. report is opening successfully. but i don't know how to save automaticcaly. can anybody help me how to o this

And we are developing the report by using above mentioned report builder and saved as a .rdf file. from the form. and calling that report from the form runtime by passing the parameters. i mentioned already report is opening fine and accurately. we want to that after opening the report that will be like a save as in pdf format of client_machine at specified location. there is no need to save the user manually and to avoid the user from these steps like to go report window file menu save as . can you pls suggest me how to do

How to launch a local program from a Form running on Web

How to launch a program in local hard disk, say notepad, from a Form running on web?
I tried the HOST() function but it will launch notepad on the application server other than the client.

You can use the following code from a Pluggable Java Component (PJC) to invoke notepad

Pdf report not saving in to the local system

Hi,
I am facing some issue with PDF report. We have written code to generate PDF report using java to generate the report we have used the jasper API. We were able to generate the pdf report and we have written a code to appear the ��save as�� dialog box (to save the PDF report). In the ��Save As�� dialog box---��in the ��Save as type�� dropdown box there is no tag for *.pdf.
Also if are giving manually some temp.pdf as the file name also it is saving on to local machine.
Please kindly post the solutions.

That is not his problem. He want to force the client to automatically save the file and lock the filename somehow.

Generate pdf file from 9i reports and save it in C:\oracle_reports\

i want to generate a file from oracle reports in PDF format and want to save it on already defined path.
c:\oracle_reports\
right now pdf generation of report is working fine but before generation of pdf report system prompt me or open a dialogue box to save my pdf file on drive. i dont want to see these dialogue box or prompt me to explicitly save it.
i want all the work done automatically.

Unable to save Infoview pdf reports in Windows Vista

Good morning,
My coworker needs to be able to save Infoview pdf reports from her Windows Vista PC, but she is presently unable to. She was able to save the reports fine previously from the Windows XP PC she used to have.
Following are the steps taken to arrive at the problem:
1) On a Windows Vista PC, browse to: https://wyinf.hostams.com/InfoViewApp/logon.jsp
2) Logon with appropriate credentials.
3) Navigate to: All > Public Folders > WY WOLFS Reports > Double-click on one of the listed Adobe Acrobat .pdf reports.
4) Now the pdf report is open within the web browser, and "BUSINESSOBJECTS INFOVIEW" is the title above the pdf report.
5) Click on the "Save" button - Nothing happens or appears. (After clicking on the save button, a window should launch that lets you save the pdf file to a desired location. This works fine on Windows XP)
If any of you know of any workarounds to this problem or any settings I could adjust to fix this, please let me know.
