PDF's not downloading with IE?

I'm having trouble with Internet Explorer (what's new) not showing my iWeb site properly? For some reason you cannot download the PDF's properly from the links on the site. Can anyone help me out with that?

We use underscores in file names all the time with no issue.

  • .PDF file not downloading with .pdf extension

    Hi there,
I recently received the following from a user:
Hi I downloaded the PDF copy of the Good Design plan from the link: http://www.designcouncil.org.uk/en/Design-Council/Files/System-Files/Download/ Tried a couple of times, and the link downloads a file simply called "The" and it is not recognised as a PDF I manually added the suffix.pdf and the file is intact and working but just wanted to let you know. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.16 on Mac
The original file was called, The_Good_Design_Plan.pdf, and we have renamed it to, thegooddesignplan.pdf - it now works correctly.
I'm guessing that all .pdf files need to be named without any ascii characters within their file name for them to work properly?
We have a large number of pdf's that are named as such: 'this_is_a.pdf' - should we remove all instances of '_' to avoid the above problem in the future?
Thanks for any help or advice.

  • Password protected PDF document not opened with E7...

    Dear all,
Password protected PDF document not opened with nokia E7-00. Previously I used nokia N79, that time I was able to open Password protected PDF file such as bank email statement etc. Now I can't.
It is quite disappointing with this phone !

    hi mateys,
you may want to search under "PDF" in the Nokia Store, as some solutions such as Picsel Smart Office exist, where they do open password-protected PDF's.

  • Why is the album art from our iTunesU site not downloading with the content?

Recently, the album art from our iTunes U site has not been downloading with the content. We have tried downloading content from other pages and we get the album art, but when we download out own content the album art does not download with the files. The art appears in the iTunes store so there should not be a problem with the files.  Any idea why this is happening? just purchased blue ray movie from store with a redemption code but will not download with out inserting disc I have a macbook air

I am experiencing the same thing. I have many books that I used to read on my iPad.
Now on iBooks in Mavericks all my books downloaded correctly apart from two which I really want to work (The Lean Startup and Communicating The User Experience).
When I download both using the cloud icon just when it reaches 100% I get this message:
[Insert Book Name] failed to download
To try again, select Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu.
When I check for available downloads it says I have already downloaded all my books.
Anyone know how to fix this.
I do realise that this is only v1 of iBooks so I hope Apple sorts it out soon.
    Thanks!!!

  • Clicking on PDF files on the internet does not download with file extension

When I click on a PDF link it downloads the file but does not save it as a ".pdf" file extension. When using the "save as" function in mozilla the ".pdf" file extension is included.

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu.

  • Weblinks pdfs will not open with recent install of Version X1?

Weblink pdfs will not open using the newly installed Adobe X1 version. How to fix?
Gives message suggesting problem with reader and ends with 103:103

    Hi Gordon,
Can you please try opening the following PDF: http://samplepdf.com/sample.pdf.
Do try to open it in browser by clicking the abobe link and in Adobe Reader itself by Right-Click on link->"Save link as".
If you still getting these error, uninstall Reader using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html and reinstall Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader.

  • .pdfs will not download in quicktime

It either brings up a blank page as a new tab, or sends me to a page to download advanced software components, none of which seems to address the problem. This seems to have started once I synched everything into Mobileme, although I'm not sure that's the reason. Thanks!

PDF files are not typically associated with QuickTime Player or its browser plug-in.
Safari browser can view PDF's. Downloaded PDF's are opened using Preview.

  • Can not download with any browser

I recently updated my OS 10.4.7 to 10.4.11, not that that is the problem. But a couple of days ago I noticed I couldn't download software and I also can not open pdfs as I usually do. I have three browsers. The now defunct Netscape 7.1, I use for my mail til I can get SeaMonkey. Firefox 1.0.7 and Safari 3.0.4. I tried to download SeaMonkey (23mg). Netscape: error message saying "System/library/filesystems etc. ..could not be saved because the source file could not be read. Try again later or contact the server administrator. (I have no server and later never cured it).
Firefox: Its download strip runs quickly, like a split second and there's nothing downloaded.
Safari: It shows in the download window, when I click the curled arrow icon it runs a split second and then says "8.1 kb of 23 mgs; can not create file". Download manager confirms these attempts failed.
I am also experiencing pdfs sent to me will not open.I found a workaround but the issue now exists.
Oddly, I still have a G3 with 10.2.8 and my original Netscape 7.1 still on it. Last night I reconnected to that computer and using Netscape there I was able to downloaded SeaMonkey with no problem whatsoever.
Its not my browsers. I have run repairs on my permissions using disk utility. Do I need to reinstall 10.4? Do I need to throw away some plists?
Thanks for any help, if this doesn't work, I'll go back to 10.4.7 and stay there.
    Lymeris

    Hi Both Helpful folks,
Here's the latest. Ben, working in an account that's clean is what I'll use. I moved my Netscape and Firefox to this account and downloaded SeaMonkey no problem. Then chose my profile (incase there was a problem there), again downloaded with no problem.
Conclusion: its not the browsers. Something is keeping them from downloading on my other account.
Plan is to take app;ications and move them over as if starting from the beginning. It will be tedious because I will take only one at a time. I'll start with the Adobe Reader 7 since they had problems following my preferences and would not open pdfs in Adobe. Maybe its corrupted, etc, etc.
    Ques:
I wonder if either of you or anyone else has an suggestions on what I can test first that may cause this issue to save some time, likely culprits. If not, I'll keep doing this.
Remember Norton Utilities and Disk Doctor? What software is out there that I can use like that that can find and clean corrupted files on Tiger?
    Thanks
    Lymeris

  • OCR'd Acrobat 8 pdf's not compatible with Preview? (s p a c e s in words)

I recently came across an odd problem. When I use Acrobat 8's OCR function to turn an image pdf into a readable pdf, I get results that, at first, look fine: selecting text works, copy/pasting text from acrobat to other apps also works fine.
However, when I open this pdf in apple's Preview, then select text, then copy/paste it, I get garbled text: words with spaces between each character, etc.
This problem makes pdf's almost completely unusable to me. I cannot copy/paste bits of a pdf, I can't index the documents (either through spotlight, or another app I use, DEVONthink).
Now, saving as acrobat 7 does not solve this problem. Actually using acrobat 7 does work, however. I don't want to resort to that because acrobat 7 is quite a bit slower (due to it being for PowerPC) and this is particularly noticeable during something as memory-intensive as OCR.
Anyways, I can imagine this being a problem that needs to be fixed on the apple side rather than the Adobe side. furthermore, the more people start producing ocr'd pdf files in acrobat 8, the bigger this problem will become.
If anyone can help me find a way to save 'Preview-compatible' pdf's from within acrobat 8, that would at least be a temporary workable solution for me!

I use PDFs I've created on my macs (both have 10.5.1) on several windows XP machines at work. Apple's PDF solutions are different from Adobe, so the compatibility does not have to do with the availability of Adobe software. Still, one option would be to get "Adobe PDF" installed as a printer (not sure where it comes from -- maybe Reader, or with the CS3 suite) and then use that to print to PDF instead of using Apple's system technology. Still, it should be concerning that the system's PDFs are not being created properly. Do the PDFs open properly on other Macs? Have you tried multiple PCs?

  • ITunes artwork not downloading with file and tab blanked out.

The last 4 items I have downloaded from iTunes (tv Shows and Movies) are not coming with any album art.  As the TV shows are on season pass its only the latest episodes that don't have artwork.
Also the artwork tab is greyed out on the Get Info screen.
Gettin art work via menu does not work.
Anyone else having this problem? or know a fix?
    Thanks

    thomas200,
Not a lot of joy, but here is what I have discovered.
I have been having this problem for about a month as well.  Video files downloaded from iTunes have no album art or account info and the artwork tab is greyed out.
My library is stored on a QNAP NAS. When I download any video file everything looks fine until the end when 'processing file' occurs. This will take only a second on any faulty file yet 4/5 or more sec when everything is working.
I have created a new library with files being stored on the hard drive of my mac and tried down loading a free tv episode.  This works fine.
So I feel like I am narrowing the problem to my itunes library or the NAS (which had a software upgrade in april)
I'll post if I find out anything more.
