Pdfs taking 10-30 mins to open (75-150 pgs)
I just got acrobat XI pro so that i can send password protected pdf files. Now the same pdf files that used to take 10-30 seconds to open take 10-30 minutes!! What can I do to fix this?? Please help.
Title companies email me pdf files containing 75-150 pages. I click on the attachment from the email to open. I have been doing this for many years. What used to take no time at all takes approx. 20 minutes now. I notice that once it is finally downloaded, it opens in acrobat and not reader. I'm guessing since that is the only thing that has changed, that acrobat is the problem. Is there any way to specify it to open in reader?

Taking exactly 10 min to open the task list using smartview
Hi All,
We are using hyperion smartview 11.1.2.2
when I connect to hyperion planning task list using smartview it is taking exactly 10 min to open the task but the same is taking only 3 seconds in our Production environment. Can someone help me out.
I have also followed the below but it did not help me out.
It might be that APS is timing out, I assume you are running OHS
if so stop OHS, go to <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\<instance_name>\httpConfig\ohs\config\OHS\ohs_component
edit mod_wl_ohs.conf
In there you will see something like
< LocationMatch ^/aps>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WeblogicCluster <APS_SERVER>:13080
< /LocationMatch>
add
WLIOTimeoutSecs 3600
so it looks like
< LocationMatch ^/aps>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WeblogicCluster <APS_SERVER>:13080
WLIOTimeoutSecs 3600
< /LocationMatch>
Save, start OHS and try again.

Export PDF taking too long to upload to Adobe export online. Any suggestions?
I just recently purchased adobe exportPDF and I am trying to convert the PDF to word, but it is just taking too long even after opening multiple times.
Hi there Huapopicante,
How large/complex is the file that you're trying to convert? It may be that the file is too complex for the ExportPDF service to convert before timing out. Here are a few things that you can try, however:
Clear the browser cache and try again.
Make sure that you're using a supported web browser (http://www.adobe.com/acom/systemreqs/)
Try a different browser.
Make sure that there are no firewall/proxy settings that are limiting your access to the Internet.
Convert the PDF file from within Reader with OCR disabled, as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.
Please let us know how it goes.
Best,

ReportDocument.Load taking 2-3 mins, VS 2008 Professional + Bundled Crystal
Hi there,
We recently upgraded our desktop app from VS 2003, Crystal 8.5 to VS 2008 and included Crystal.
Our 8.5 crystal reports were upgraded using the VS 2008 Professional Crystal Designer. (bundled)
Now the method ReportDocument.Load is taking 2-3 mins to run. The initial load is always very slow. Most loads after that are fast but sometimes it can take 2-3 mins again.
The reports do not have sub-reports. Printer has been set to none.
Thankyou for any help you can provide.
The code does the following
1 - Opens ReportDocument
2 - Sets parameter and log on info
3 - Sets Viewer control source to the report documentThere are a number of post on this forum re. initial slow load. Search for those and see if there is anything that will be of help. However in a nut shell, initial slow load is an expected behavior as there are a number of dlls that need to be loaded and other initialization functions performed by the CR engine. A work-around is to load the CR runtime before you actually need the first report. E.g.; load the runtime at start of the app. You'd do this by loading a report in the background - not letting the user see this. Also, ensure you are using .close and .dispose once you are done using the report object.

Hi. I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader, It worked yesterday. Today I have job training to do that is due tomorrow morning and I can't open PDF files. I have to open a guide and read it and take a test tomorrow. I have deleted and reinstalled the application. I have rebooted. I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program. Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message. It simply says Attempt to access invalid address. How can I fix this? Thanks.
Hi Don,
I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
BEFORE:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
AFTER:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.

>i started SGEN, but it is giving time_out errors. please help me on this issue.
You are supposed to run SGEN as a batch job and so, it should be possible to get time out errors.
I've seen Full SGEN lasting from 3 hours on high end systems up to 8 full days on PC hardware...

This regards Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07 and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.07 running on Win 7. Copying text in a text callout (to paste into a text callout in another pdf document (3 instances of Adobe open) sometimes (only sometimes) causes the program to crash, losing unsaved work. Windows Task Manager shows only a small percentage of cpu used and plenty of memory available. What is causing this?

This usually occurs if you use a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html -
I cannot open a .pdf in an incoming mail (Outlook 2010) with Acrobat Pro XI. It will only allow "preview". I have to copy and paste the .pdf to my desktop and then open it. What do I do to restore the 2x click in Outlook to open the .pdf? As of now, I get the following bracket opening on screen when I click on the Acrobat icon for attachment within the email: Thank you

C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txtHi Gary,
I have seen this issue occur with users who have this registry setting missing or have improper permissions.
When you double click the attachment to launch the pdf it is saved and opened from the temporary folder unless saved specifically to a location.
If you dont have the below mentioned registry key or improper permissions then attachments fail to open.
Please heck if the following reg key exists:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
If the value exists, and if the value contains a valid path, Outlook 2010 uses that location for its temporary files.
If the registry value does not exist, or if the value points to an invalid location, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 creates a new subdirectory under the Temporary Internet Files directory and then puts the temporary file in the new subdirectory. The name of the new subdirectory is unknown and is randomly generated, depending on your version of Outlook.
Please check the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Security
Note the location for: OutlookSecureTempFolder key
Check if the same folder exists in the following location and if not create a corresponding folder in the location on C:\Users\<User account name>\Appdata\Local\Software\Microsoft\Windows\......
