Performance Comparasion of a Query on a Infoobject Vs Query on a Multicube

Hi,
To meet my requirment i need to develop a report on a info object (ZMAT_ID)
With regards to the performance do i need to develop report on the Info Object Directly or Create a Multi Cube on this Info Object and develop my report on this Multi Cube]
Please advise
Thanks in advance

As you are concerned with 1 dataprovidr,You can create on the MasterData itself and i'm sure your performance depends on the objects used and you wont feel much improvement with multiprovider on this scenario.
Create queries on both MD and MP and run in RSRT and check its performance.
Cheers,
Shana

  • Query to get InfoObject(ReportObject) from specific Folder

    Hi,
I am using XI Release 2.I am having one report object in two folders with the same name.
example: I am having one report object named TestReport that exist in folder ALL as well as folder TEMPORARY in CMS.
    Following query i am using:
    "SELECT TOP 1 * FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_PROGID = 'CrystalEnterprise.Report'").append(" AND SI_INSTANCE=0 AND SI_NAME='").append(TestReport ).append("'");
but it always returns the report object from folder ALL while i want to have report Object from folder TEMPORARY
    Reporrt Path: path://InfoObjects/Root Folder/Temporary/
Can anyone help me out with the query to get the report object from specific folder?
    Thanks

    Hello Prakhar,
You are querying the the CI_INFOOBJECTS table for crystal reports that have the name TestReport.
If a crystal with name TestReport exists in folder ALL and another crystal with name TestReport exists in folder TEMPORARY , you should get two INFOOBJECTs with your query!
    Look at your query :
SELECT TOP 1   means select one entity.
I guess this is the reason for your problem.

Can you explain what you mean with try rsrt->query name?
There are no interesting tables with RSRT prefix name.

  • Query on Cube jumps to Query on ODS ; Query on ODS takes Long time

    Hi All,
Perormance Issue:  Query on Cube jumps to Query on ODS.
Query on ODS taking long time.(JumpQuery)
Specific to ODS Query: When i have checked the Query on ODS(individually) also taking longer time
Actually ODS contains quite huge data. Indexes already maintained.
I have checked the RSRT- Execute SQL and Debug Option also. Indexes maintained Perfectly .
Order of objects in ODS indexes are matching the order of Objects in SQL stat of RSRT Trans. Inspite of that taking long time.
I have checked both the ways jumpquery aswellas individually .
My question is when the query is jumping from cube to query on ODS how to check the performance, how the query is executing in background when switching over to the second query, Moreover calculated keyfigure has been used for jumping to the target query.
How can query(ods query)  time is optimized or improve performance when jumping  from query on Cube ?
    can any body help?

What i understand is that you need to optimise the Query jumping time . But this will be very less compared to the time taken by the query on the ODS.
Ideally you shouldnt be making a BEx Query on the ODS , as this takes a long time. What you can do is try executing the Bex Query on the ODS to find out as to where the issue lies. If this query is taking a long time , there is not muich that you can do here.

  • Help understanding simple query trace with 35,000 "query subcube" events

No matter WHAT query I issue against my cube, I'm finding thousands of query subcube events against an unexpected , I assume it's a partition.
Even for the simplest possible query SELECT FROM <CUBE>, which for this cube would return the measure [MRN Distinct Count], a trace reveals 35,000 query subcube events against a partition (?) called "<server>.Medical Home.MedHome.Lab Orders

I can't figure out why this object is being queried so many times for queries completely unrelated to it.  I believe this performance degradation is somewhat new...so I have been trying to think of what may have been added to the cube recently.
I recently added KPIs and calculated sets & members that DO draw from that Lab Orders With Results object...would calculated members or KPI's cause this kind of problem? I thought that they were all pre-calculated @ processing?

RedBirdRising - my cube had several dynamic calculated sets in it.  As I recall several of those sets included slices on that one particular dimension that was being queried so many times. For me it was sets that compiled populations of people
with particular lab result values, so that lab result partition was queried thousands of times for ANY query, even simple ones like SELECT FROM [CUBE].
To be precise, I actually had calculated sets interacting with calculated measures - for example, one of the offending calculated sets was really this series of calculations:
-CALC SET 1: define calculated set of diabetic patients
-CALC MEASURE 1: define calculated measure for most recent lab test result of a particular lab test - which included a slice on the dimension I found being queried thousands of times.
    -DYNAMIC calculated set: FILTER(CALC SET1, CALC MEASURE 1 <= x)
So as soon as I switched that dynamic set to a STATIC set my queries began executing in a reasonable amount of time and those query subcube events were no longer issued in the thousands.  I feel like i've heard that FILTER performs poorly but didn't
know of any alternatives to achieve what we needed.
hope this helps...I can't say I know for sure what unforseen impact(s) switching to static sets has had yet.  Dynamic seemed like the way to go but the performance hit was just too drastic.

  • How to use query-result as a new query-fiter

    HI, All
Is it possible to execute sub-query filtererd by the pre-query-reslted lists ?
As far as I investigated, only way to do is that I combine two suject-areas by using set operations like "Union" or around.
But in this way, there is an impractical restriction to define these datatype and column in common. (namely, "Union" conditions)
I just want to query filtered by ex-query-results at anytime; for example, I extract a customer lists by one query and use various analysis in the group of customer list.
    Please give me some advise.
    Regards

First create a Request with your FilterQuerey. Secund Create a Request und create a Filter. Under Advanced you will find the path to the first Requst. Than you can select the columns.
    Thats it :-)

  • How to obtain the Query Response Time of a query?

Given the Average Length of Row of tables and the number of rows in each table,
is there a way we get the query response time of a query involving
those tables. Query includes joins as well.
For example, suppose there 3 tables t1, t2, t3. I wish to obtain the
time it takes for the following query:
    Query
    SELECT t1.col1, t2.col2
    FROM t1, t2, t3
    WHERE t1.col1 = t2.col2
    AND t1.col2 IN ('a', 'c', 'd')
    AND t2.col1 = t3.col2
    AND t2.col1 = t1.col1 (+)
    ORDER BY t1.col1
    Given are:
Average Row Length of t1 = 200 bytes
Average Row Length of t2 = 100 bytes
Average Row Length of t3 = 500 bytes
    No of rows in t1 = 100
    No of rows in t2 = 1000
    No of rows in t3 = 500
What is required is the 'query response time' for the said query.

I do not know how to do it myself. But if you are running Oracle 10g, I believe that there is a new tool called: SQL Tuning Advisor which might be able to help.
Here are some links I found doing a google search, and it looks like it might meet your needs and even give you more information on how to improve your code.

  • Query Execution Time for a Query causing ORA-1555

    dear Gurus
I have ORA-01555 error , earlier I used the Query Duration mentioned in Alert Log and increased the Undo Retention as I did not find th UnDOBLKS column of v$undostat high for the time of occurence of ORA-01555..
But new ORA-01555 is coming whose query duration exceeds Undo Retention time..
    My question -
    1. Is it possible to accurately find the query duration time besides the Alert Log file ?

abhishek, as you are using an undo tablespace and have already increased the time that undo data is retained via undo_retention then you might want to consider the following ideas which were useful with 1555 error under manual rbs segment management.
1- Tune the query. The faster a query runs the less likely a 1555 will occur.
2- Look at the processing. If a process was reading and updating the same table while committing frequenctly then the process under manual rbs management would basically create its own 1555 error rather than just being the victum of another process changing data and the rbs data being overlaid while the long running query was still running. With undo management the process could be generating more data than can be held for the undo_retention period but because it is committed Oracle has been told it doesn't really have to keep the data for use rolling back a current transaction so it gets discarded to make room for new changes.
If you find item 2 is true then separating the select from the update will likely eliminate the 1555. You do this by building a driving table that has the keys of the rows to be updated or deleted. Then you use the driver to control accessing the target table.
3- If the cause of the 1555 is or may be delayed block cleanout then select * from the target prior to running the long running query.
Realistically you might need to increase the size of the undo tablespace to hold all the change data and the value of the undo_retention parameter to be longer than the job run time. Which brings up back to option 1. Tune every query in the process so that the job run time is reduced to optimal.

    dear mark
Thanks for the excellent advise..I found that the error is coming because of frequent commits..which is item 2 as u righly mentioned ..
I think I need to keep a watch on the queries running , I was just trying to find the execution time for the queries..If there is any way to find the query duration without running a trace ..

  • Query on results from another query

    Post Author: Duncan1980
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
Is it possible to query on the results from another query.  I have a query that produces a list of document numbers.  I want to use the output from that query as the filter criteria in a another query in the same Universe.
The output from the first query can be as much as 2000, so it would be very time consuming to cut and paste these into a filter.
Both reports are built, but can not figure out how to link the first report output to the filtering criteria on the second report.  I
I am using business objects XI release 2 web intelligence 11.5.3.417 enterprise.

    Hi Vivek,
It was not directly solved but I applied alternate logic to over come the issue.
Here's what I did to overcome:
I used a sub query in place of the whole result from another query.
    For Ex:
Dim1 inlist result from another query1
    I made it as
    Dim1 inlist (Dim0)
    where Conditions.
Here Dim0 is the object which we use for Result from another query and Conditions will be the necessary filter conditions to arrive proper Dim0.  Make sure proper context is formed for the sub query.
Even though it resolved my problem, It introduces an new issue. It causes increase in query run time when huge set of data is returned from sub query.
Please let me know if i haven't explained clearly.
    Hi Aris_BO,
Sorry for not responding earlier.  The logic would probably make more queries null & not null. Thats why I was not advised to use it.
    Thanks

  • Output of One Query  is input to other Query??

    Hi All,
How to make output of one query as input to other Query and what are the points to be takeb care of to do it?

    murali.
    Message was edited by: Murali

    Hallo
You got a second query where you also have 0date. Based on the selection on the second query, you get some value for 0date. this values are then passed in background to the first query which will show you the output based on the input date of the first query. You can also have othe variable in the query.

  • Problem with the icon "Display query on the web" in Query Designer

    Hi Friends,
I was told by my PM to give them all FI Modules standard business contenet reports, so for that reason i have installed all FI business content & loaded the data in the Dev Server, now i just want to show the reports, but i want excute these reports in Internet Explorer using the Icon "Display Query on the WEB" in query designer, when i click on that it isn't getting displayed in the browser.

getting the message in the page, the page can't be displayed,
How to solve this problem & how do i have to show the standard business content reports to all FI Superiors ?
    awaiting for ur answers
    Regards,
    Balaji

    Balaji,
first check if you have enabled web reporting on your BW server ( there is a how to paper for the same )
another way to check out the same is to find out if there are existing web templates being published which would make the server web ready.
As for FI content - activate the FI relevant areas in Business content and then activate the respective datasources and then load the data.. or go trough the best practices for BW-FI ( service.sap.com/bestpractices) wnd then activate the best practices for the same.
    Hope it helps.

  • Issues opening a BI 7.0 query in to 3.x query designer?

    Hi,
I opened a 7.0 based query in to 3.x query designer. I have couple of concerns that are listed below:
    1. First of all is it ok to open 7.0 query in 3.x query designer? if no what are the Consequences?
    2. A warning message displayed saying that the infoprovider is inactive any idea?
    3. Can use the 3.x browser for 7.0 queries? Do you think 3.x browser have all the cozy navigation options like 7.0.
    Thank you.
    Aslam.

    Hi,
    Pls find some SAP notes:
1.Queries created or adapted with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer will still appear in the Open Dialog of the 3.x tool but they cannot be opened anymore.
2.For those scenarios where customers do not want to use the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer, SAP ships a 3.x version of the BEx Query Designer in addition to the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer.
3.New capabilities are only implemented in the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer.
4.Query Views that were created before will still run after a query has been changed with the new BEx Query Designer.
In general, query views do not need to be migrated.
5.The new BEx Analyzer gives access to InfoProviders, queries and query views but not to query views created with the new BEx Web Analyzer. On the other hand, query views created with the BEx Analyzer are available within the new BEx Web Analyzer.
6.Several Features of the new BEx Query Designer and BEx Web (e.g. in the area of exceptions and conditions) are not available in the new BEx Analyzer.
7.SAP does not recommend using NetWeaver 2004s queries and query views in the old 3.5 BEx Analyzer.
    Hope this helps,

  • Passing resultser of one db adapter query to anoother db adapter query

I would like achieve the following:
    1) first query returns PO_Number, Batch_Number,..... etc. in the first query. But in this query the PO_NUMBER and batch number can come mutiple times because of other columns.
    2) But I have to send a single notification for each Batch_Number/PO-number combination that comes from the above query.
to do that there can be a second db adapter with the query which will be like
select distinct PO_NUMBER, batch number from table1
where Batch_number and PO Number which are selected in the first query.
    How to do that?
Is there any other way to fulfil the same requirement.

    Hi there,
this is probably more one for the database SQL forums. It is a tricky one as you can't execute a select like:
    select distinct PO_NUMBER, distinct BATCH_NUMBER, C3, C4, ....
Safest would be to do this query first:
select distinct PO_NUMBER, BATCH_NUMBER from tab
Then for each PO/BATCH read, execute the following select:
    select * from tab where PO = ? and BATCH = ? and rownum <= 1;
However that will lead to a lot of queries to get the extra column info.
You can do it all in one query if you can find one other column in the table that is unique for a given PO/BATCH combination and sortable, i.e. assume it is named pk.
    Then you can execute:
    select * from TAB T0 where not exists (select * from TAB T1 where T0.PO = T1.PO and T0.BATCH = T1.BATCH and T1.pk< T0.pk)
It took a while but failing that you still can do it with one query. If a, b are the columns that need to be distinct (PO and BATCH), and c is say the other column, you could execute this:
    with Q1 as (select distinct A, B, C, rownum as COUNTER from TAB) select T0.A, T0.B, T0.C from Q1 T0 where not exists(select * from Q1 T1 where T1.A= T0.A and T1.B = T0.B and T1.counter < T0.counter)
You can do all of this using the "execute pure SQL" option of the DbAdapter wizard. Just cut and paste in the SQL and it should generate the right XSD.
There is currently one issue with the pure SQL wizard, in that it doesn't recognize WITH. The query has to start with SELECT or it will think it is an update. So just wrap it with SELECT * FROM (...), i.e.
    select * from (with Q1 as (select distinct A, B, C, rownum as COUNTER from TAB) select T0.A, T0.B, T0.C from Q1 T0 where not exists(select * from Q1 T1 where T1.A= T0.A and T1.B = T0.B and T1.counter < T0.counter))
That is if you want to do a one time select. If this is more for polling, I would look at the ExpertPolling sample on soasamples.samplecode.oracle.com for ideas. You can set the primary key to be PO/BATCH, and give custom poll and after read SQLs. The poll can be very similar to the one given here.
    Thanks
    Steve

I doubt that this query can be tuned without using indexes. There is a lot of unnecessary work specified in your query, like unnecessary intermediate sorting and selecting unused columns. The cost based optimizer recognized it and skips some of that unnecessary work, it seems. For clarity's sake, I would rewrite your query like below. Note that the query is untested:
    select consumer_key
         , max(product_key) keep (dense_rank last order by days_in_product) product_key
         , max(days_in_product) days_in_product
         , 20100201 period_key
      from ( select pcv.consumer_key
                  , pcv.product_key
                  , sum
                    ( case
                      when to_number(to_char(cd.activation_date,'yyyymmddhh24miss')) between 20100201000000 and 20100228235959
                      then
                        case
                        when cd.activation_date > to_date(pcv.product_consumer_valid_to,'yyyymmddhh24miss')
                        then
                          0
                        when cd.activation_date between to_date(pcv.product_consumer_valid_from,'yyyymmddhh24miss') and to_date(product_consumer_valid_to,'yyyymmddhh24miss')
                        then
                          to_date(to_char(pcv.product_consumer_valid_to),'yyyymmddhh24miss'))
                          - to_date(to_char(activation_date,'yyyymmddhh24miss'),'yyyymmddhh24miss')
                        end
                      when to_number(to_char(cd.activation_date,'yyyymmddhh24miss')) < 20100201000000
                      then
                        to_date(to_char(pcv.product_consumer_valid_to),'yyyymmddhh24miss'))
                        - to_date(to_char(pcv.product_consumer_valid_from),'yyyymmddhh24miss'))
                      when to_number(to_char(cd.activation_date,'yyyymmddhh24miss')) > 20100228235959
                      then

  • Query Jump with Navigation ( Sub query need to show same Navigation )

    Hi All.
We have 4 BEx queries in our Dashboard Web Template and each table web items shows 10 rows and remaining with Scorll.
For Printing ,we have created a query jump for each BEx Query ( same copy query) that shows all the rows detail.
When i tried to jump from Orginial Dashboard ( From Specific table/Bex Query) with drill down <b>( Plant by Material )</b> , the jump query is not showing the same drill down but it showing the default rows <b>( Plant as per query rows</b>).
SAP has suggested us its possible to do Query Jump with Navgiation that shows the same drill down path (navigation) in Sub Query as well.
Am unable to find how to configure that , did search in OSS / Other Forumns But there were no postings on this.
For me there is no Settings in RSBBS (or) SPRO and tried the Web Address Jump as well to pass the Drill Down Status (or) Navigation. May be iam not looking at right place. We are at 3.1x
We found some limitations with SAP recommended web printing ( we dont need to discuss about that as per our requirement ), and our users like the Query Jump printing as which we working on now.
Please inform if this can be possible, if so how.
    Thanks
    Martin Mouli

    Thanks for reply Bhanu.
Its not like just Plant by Material.
I would like to do my slicing & dicing on Navigational block with any combinations ( Customer by Plant by Material )
When i do query jump from My Original Web Table , my jump query need to show the same drill down ( Customer by Plant by Material)but its showing only Material. ( Which is a default row in sub query)
To show the same navigation in jump query as well, right now am doing drill down again in jump query as well. Its time waste to repeat the same drill down steps in sub query.
By default my Jump Query has Material as row and We will show Plant & Customer on Demand (free characteristics)
Please inform if more information required.
    Regards
    Martin Mouli
