Performance recommendations...

1. I have application that is was developed with JSF, ADF, Toplink, and is running on Solaris 10, 10gR2, using an external datasource provided by OAS 10gR3 oc4j. When we hit between 100-120 concurrent users, response times jump from less than 1 second to 45-80 seconds. The system-application.log is full of:

2. This application resides inside a single sign on environment. The link to the application found in the users workspace page with in the sso. Once the link to the application is clicked, the application opens in a new browser and retrieves the sso username from the http header and queries the database to obtain user information/roles. If the log out button is pressed, a self.close() is called. Should the application be using session.invalidate()? Or should it be doing anything other than just the close browser?
Could 1 and 2 be related?
I appreciate any and all comments and/or recommendations. We would be extrmemly happy to get at least 250 concurrent users.

Performance Recommendations for Upgrade from 2009 MBP

i am looking to upgrade from a 13" 2009 MBP which I am using to run Parallels 7 (among other things) and which i have not been happy with performance-wise. I went ahead and put a full 8 GB of RAM in it and still too many hangs and delays. I am however pretty happy with my old Mac Pro.
Can anyone help me with recommendations on buying a new laptop? I mean, I don't really see myself running computationally intensive operations and this thing is pretty much a drag.
Also, battery life is 3 hours with it just sitting there with no apps running which means when i use it I am under 2 hours and that just seems inexusable to me.

CS3/CS4 Performance; recommendations for LAN/Server Env ?

Id like to hear from the admins (or users for that matter) dealing with a significant amount of Adobe CS3/CS4 users, in a LAN/Server environment.
What are the specs of the machines (PC's) that run it well ?
Are you using font managers ?
Are you the users editing files located on the server ?
Im running all machines well above Adobe spec, Server 03 domain, Gbit Lan, Citrix ASA router.
The guys here are of course whining about Macs, but they also state that font manager software would help resource usage on the workstations. When the apps launch in the AM, performance is great, as the day wears on, machine performance lags, and PS or Illustrator will eat itself. Event viewer has no other details except for App Hang. Often times, while trying to save the work back out to the server; but other times just during general use.
Just wondering of there is something I could be doing to better to help these guys.
Anyone have thoughts on this ?

How about some details on those machines? CS3 and CS4 are very resource hungry and I've found the best environment is Vista 64 with at 8 gigs of RAM (or more) a fast processor and fast harddrives.
FWIW, it's not all that unusual to need to restart some of these applications after a lot of use.
I know it's a pain but it certainly cures a world of ills when things start to slow down.
BTW, that holds true on the Mac side as well.

InDesign CS6 High performance recommended spec

Hi guys,
I have two users who run CS6 and I have noticed whenever InDesign is running, the users PC performance suffers, generally crashes.
Their systems are higher spec than Adobe system requirements for InDesign, at i3-2120 3.3GHz processor, 4GB SDRAM @ 1333MHz, approx. 150GB free of 250GB HDD, 1.75GB RAM Graphics card, Win 7 64-bit builds.
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know if a higher spec PC components would help, for example, would an SSD card as opposed to a HDD increase InDesign's performance.
Is there an optimum/high spec for the high-end performance of InDesign?

System 9 performance recommendations

We are in the process of implementing System 9 into ourproduction environment. Does anyone have any performanceenhancing suggestions in regard to server optimization and/orrouter switch configurations? We are currently running Shared Service 9.2 on a Windows 2003Standard Server SP1, 4GB of RAM, and two dual core processorsrunning at 3 GHZ each. The HFM box has the same hardwarespecs, but we are also serving FDQM. We have removed theSmartview piece and that is currently being server from our BIPlusserver. The BIPlus server is running on a Windows 2003 EnterpriseEdition SP1 with 8 GB of RAM and 4 dual core processors running at3.2 GHZ. We are not seeing a tremendous load on any of these server inregard to resources, the same holds true on our DB server. I'm think there could possibly be network issues or routerconfigurations that need to be tweaked. Thanks

This is Our Enviroment Summary.
Database Oracle 10g R2 version 10.2.0.4.0

Currenly Oracle Streaming working Successfully and I'm Daily Monitor the Same.
As Mention in the Master Note for Streams Performance Recommendations [ID 335516.1]
Purging Streams Checkpoints
10.2: Alter the capture parameter CHECKPOINT_RETENTION_TIME from the default retention of 60 days to a realistic value for your database.
A typical setting might be to retain 7 days worth of checkpoint metadata :

There are no specific performance recommendations for ESS and MSS itself.
Since the source code is already delivered by SAP, we can assume that the coding has been done keeping performance in mind.
The only suggestion I can make here is try to make your portal landing page a simple html file which would not require a backend call. This will improve the time taken for the initial portal landing page to load.
The standard homepage framework based ESS and MSS landing pages need to make a backend call for loading the landing page also.
You can look at the general recommendations to improve portal performance and your network performance.
I believe you can find tons of information on improving portal performance tuning here on SDN.

Installing/configuring the InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager system

I am looking at the InfoSphere Optim..... to install. I have not used this tool before and am skeptical. Since the Control Center is deprecated it looks like this is the replacement. Is this tool an additional cost to license or is it available to customers who have advanced enterprise editions?
Can this be run on a standard Windows PC or I should ask will it run well? I would install this onto my work PC and use it for my production (EHP & Netweaver BW) systems. Is there a quick setup guide or does this need to be installed via SAP install?
Lastly, what is the ramp up time that it will take to obtain performance recommendations out of the tool?

How can I change to false: privacy.sanitize.migrateFx3 Prefstrueprivacy.sanitize.sanitizeOnShutdown

While connected to Daily Kos website, browser suddenly froze. Upon restarting and returning to web site, I could no longer perform recommend and rate user interface functions. Symbols and buttons allowing these functions do not appear on screen.
I have restored my computer to earlier saved versions prior to this problem to no avail.
Looking in Firefox Troubleshooting Info, I notice under Modified Preferences the indicated privacy.sanitize settings, which I can find no option to change withing Tools.
I'm wondering if setting those to false will fix the problem.
Othr than uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, I don't know what to do.
This has been an intermittant and recurring problem with Firefox v. 7. Each time it occurs, uninstalling and reinstalling has been my only option.

Error code: 3194 when restoring.. "Secure link to iTunes store failed" when diagnostics is ran..

as mentioned in the title, I have encountered 2 errors, one is when I am trying to restore my iphone and the other when iTunes diagnotics feature is ran..
I have read the information about the diagnostics result and saw something like "connection attempt to firmware update server unsuccessful". Because of this information I have concluded that the "error code 3194" happens because iTunes itself is unable to connect to the "firmware update server".
I am using Windows 7 64-bit and iTunes is now on the latest version.
below are the things I have done so far, but to no avail:
- removed/disabled my antivirus program
- put iTunes to exception list of WIndows Firewall
- disabled windows firewall and windows defender
- re-installed iTunes and made sure that it is of the latest version (version 10.6.1)
- performed recommendation from: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17409780#17409780
- perform flush dns command using command prompt
In addition to the steps I mentioned, I also tried running the diagnostics on two other computers running on different versions on iTunes, 10.5 and 10.6.0. I also did the same steps as above on these two computers, but I am getting the "secure connection to iTunes store failed" when the diagnostics were ran.

I think its weird that I experienced both the 3194 error code and "secure link to the itunes store failed" diagnostics error on three computers running on different OS (XP, vista and 7), itunes version and connectivity types (wireless and cabled). Could it be possible that there is a problem on Apple's server?

Unspecified Error message when trying to srt sync configuration

I'm having same problem. Performed recommended upgrade to Software Version 5.0. Didn't like it. Re-installed version 4.6, and now I can't synchronize.
Already tried all of the above. I'll be watching for a solution too.

A month later, and I'm still trying to resolve this issue.
I have cold booted the device (by removing the battery etc. etc.)
I have turned off all Wi-Fi.
I have un-installed desktop software, and then re-installed after cold boot.
Cannot think of any other solution.
Music syncs fine.
But cannot, for the life of me get the sync to allow me to set up my configuration.

Netbean 5.5.1 + VWP is too slow when big project.

I have a project contains around 180(up) pages.
This project is upgraded from Createor2 to Netbeans 5.5.1+VWP.
In Creator2, It's very hard to maintain this project, waste much time in waiting.
I heard many people say VWP is better then Creator2.
In VWP, A simple project show a better performance then Creator2.
But, after upgrade, In my Project in VWP.
Open any first page cost me 5~10 min.
And, rename any component's Id in any time,cost me 2~5 min.
It's no different between VWP and Creator2 for me.
Is there any solutions can make VWP more fast?.
My Environment is
Pentium 1.73G
2G ram and set max Heap to 1024m

AQ Adapter with message selector rule

Hi,
I'm doing a B2B11g implementation on AS2. Incoming messages are processed using the AQ adapter. Now I have several (about 8) AQ-adapter implementations on the IP_IN_QUEUE that select messages using a message-selector-rule based on the DocumentType. So each SOAComposite dequeues and processes the appropriate document.
This works fine, but I'm looking for any performance recommendations on this.
What is the impact on CPU for example using message selector rules? Any do's and don'ts on this?

LINE-SIZE 132 / 255 / ???!

Hi Experts,
I need to develop a Classic Report.
But, it has 18 ( columns which does hv more characters i.e. fileds like, KUNNR, MATNR, VBELN, EBELN,BUKRS,ERNAM, ERDAT) columns and the Functional team said that, the report shuld come in print out!
So,
1- How much I need to specify the LINE-SIZE in the report statement, either its 255 or 132 oe else other number to get all data in print out?
2- Next times, How can I build a relationship btween the total characters of the List Header and the number of characters per a Page, to accombidate in the page for printing?

If you want the report to be printable, then lize-size should be less than 132.
See what SAP says about line zise.
LINE-SIZE - Creates a report with col columns per line.
If the LINE-SIZE specification is missing, the line length corresponds to the current screen width. The system field SY-LINSZ contains the current line size for generating lists. The maximum width of a list is 1023 characters. You should keep lists to the minimum possible size to improve useability and performance (recommendation: LINE-SIZE < 132). For very wide lists (LINE-SIZE > 255), you should consult the notes for using LINE-SIZE
greater than 255.
Notes
The specified LINE-SIZE must not appear in quotation marks.
If the you want the report list (i.e. the output) to be printable, do not define a LINE-SIZE with a value greater than 132 because most printers cannot handle wider lists.
You cannot print lists wider than 255 characters at all using the standard print functions. To print the contents of the lists, you need to write a special print routine that arranges the data in shorter lines (for example, using the PRINT ON addition in the NEW-PAGE statement.
