Performance with 533MHz memory modules

Anybody knows if the loss of performance is noticeable when replacing 667MHz memory modules by 533MHz modules?
Considering that the two configurations are paired.
My concern is the video performance using lower frequency memories. The video performance of the Mac mini is already terrible. Could it become worse?

In fact the video controller of the Mac mini is not that bad.
I have installed the game Civilization 4 for Mac and it is almost impossible to play because it is really slow. I removed the game and installed a PC version using Boot Camp and voilá! It runs perfectly! In the same machine!
Most of the time the problem is not the hardware...

Msi Big Bang Xpower II can only run with 3 memory modules?

Hello there! I've just got my new system up and running. But it cant boot with 4 memory modules when there is a module in slot 7? I have a 4x8gb kit from corsair (CMP32GX3M4X1600C10), and a Msi Big Bang Xpower II..
When i start it, it just shows me the debug code "67" which is "Late Cpu Initialization" according to the "User Guide".. It stays there, for about 15 seconds, then it shuts down, and does the same, over and over..
Atm, i'm running with 3 modules, and there's no problems at all! I've testet ALL memory blocks, in another computer, and they run just fine..
What should i do?

If everything comes up clean, update to the most recent bios. Only do this if your computer is stable in bios. IE You are only having crashes in windows etc.

W520 i7-2860QM with 2 memory modules and CPU-Z Reporting them as Slots 1 and 3?

Is this normal for CPU-Z (1.59, 1.60, 1.61) to report a matched kit pair of properly populated memory modules as Slots 1 and 3 in "dual" mode? One is under the keypad in the upper slot #0 while the other is in slot #1 under the chasis on the left closest to the DVD (with the black plastic frame).
Slots 2 and 4 in CPU-Z are reported empty.
I think this is okay and just the way CPU-Z is setup to report the SPD info but would like to double check out here with others using only 2 of their 4 memory slots.
I'm running a fresh clean bloatware-free Win7 Pro SP1 installed to my Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SATA-III SSD and holding at BIOS 1.36. I'm using 1600 speed 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance modules (a 2x8 kit with adjacent module serial numbers). Optimus and the integrated graphics are both disabled in BIOS and the unit never leaves its 170W Series 3 Plus docking station w/ external monitor, keyboard and mouse ..... it runs with the lid closed nice and cool, plus quiet also.
CPU-Z also reports I'm actually running at 1600 on the memory and I have thrown every torture test I know of at this configuration and have not had any issues yet over the last 6 weeks. Benchmark programs are also all on the very high end of the ranges published for W520 units ..... probably with a lot of help from that 512GB SSD SATA-III Samsung 840 Pro.
I never plan to ever use the on-board graphics, so I'm getting ready to install my other identical Corsair 2x8 kit next week and see if stability issues arise at 32GB using 4 modules ...... will hold at BIOS 1.36 unless things start happening at 32GB.

I also ran memtest86 for 3+ hours and it seemed that one of my memorysticks was heavily corrupted.
So I removed that one and ran memtest86 again for an hour without any problems, but the volt keep dropping anyway... and the freezing-problem persists.
Hopefully I can purchase a PSU on approval and run some test.

Can I expand the RAM of an Equium M50 with 1GB memory module?

Someone told me that Equium M50 only recognise 512 MB memory module. The Toshiba manual does not specify. It is true?

No, this is not correct. The guy who told this was not right and I assume he has no Equium A50 experience.
As far as I know the memory on Equium A50 notebook can be upgraded up to 2048MB.
So you have to use 2 x 1024MB (1GB) memory modules if you want to upgrade the memory to 2GB.
For me its clear. The Equium A50 recognizes bigger memory size as 512MB.
Do you know what modules are compatible and can be used???
On the Toshiba Options & Accessories website you will find the supported modules:
PC2700 512MB (PA3312U-2M51)
PC2700 1024MB (PA3313U-2M1G)

Problem with memory module

The problem with upgrade memory module.
Available:
Cisco 2951 router with the default memory module 512Mb.
Additionally purchased:
Memory Module MEM-2951-1GB (SG572288FG8P6ILMH4)
Problem Description:
When you start seeing a hardware router modules, after loading the ROMMON
reading failure IOS image
The first module is worth the default 512M, 1G second unit acquired
The permutation modules as well as single use module 1G situation has not changed.
Work whether the module supplier sold me?

It shouldn't cost you a fortune, John. I usually find Apple re-sellers very obliging on matters like this. Where did you buy your memory from? If it was Apple retail they may help and explain about the residue at the same time.
It's not unusual to meet difficulties with the fitting of memory but the residue is something I haven't met before.

MSI 785GM-E51 and memory modules problems

Could anyone help me with one problem. I have motherboard MSI 785GM-E51 and 4 memory modules GOODRAM GR 1333D364L9/2G. But when I'm inserting ALL modules my system not starting (even POST procedure). So working variants - when I'm inserting:
- one module in first (boot) slot
or
- they inserted in first and third memory slots
Any ideas?

It is not motherboard problem, but processor itself - I have AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3,4 Ghz Core Revision C2 and this revision (according to the article: http://www.fcenter.ru/online.shtml?articles/hardware/processors/27650#02) has problems with support memory modules DDR3-1333 Mhz more than 2 modules. Conclusion - either adjust BIOS settings concerning memory timings and memory controller voltage or replace this kind of processor with the same type but with core revision C3

No. Nothing is stored in RAM when the computer's off, and you'll need to turn it off while upgrading its RAM.
RAM and drive space aren't the same. Back up the contents of the internal drive.

Pavilion g6 laptop with start-up and memory module issue + beeping

My laptop is a g6-1c58dx. I was(?) having problems with my cooling fan, so I went about disassembling it to get into the fan to clean the fan out. So far, so good. I think I'm having some kind of problem putting the memory module back in now though. I'm not positive which side of the memory module was facing up when I took it out and I forgot which of the two slots it was in. However, I've tried with both sides in both slots and still no dice. Every time I hit the power button, the capslock button blinks, the screen doesn't turn on and I get three long beeps followed by two short beeps. I've been trying to find a good picture of the memory module in the laptop some place online to see if I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't been able to find a good enough one. I went digging into part of the support rescources here that mentioned having some video and such which might be related to my problem, but I couldn't find g6, only g1, g2, and g3. So, it's very late here. I've been working on this all night. Could anybody tell me what I need to do to end the maddness?

Memory performance with books

My 2nd generation 8 gb Touch needs recharging pretty often when I am reading books on it for hours, as I do on many days. Have not timed things precisely but recharging is more often that would seem convenient to a book reader. I use the Kindle app and the Stanza app (and I have the iBooks app too but will wait for updates before using it). Seems that memory, with wifi-off and brightness set fairly low, is more than I would have hoped with books. Those reader apps must burn memory.
When I get an iPad this problem will be solved, apparently. But still I am curious about the issue on iPod Touch. I am loving the 4.0 IOS installed the other day. (The book app memory performance was the same on the earlier version as it is on IOS 4.)

What I mean to say, of course, is battery performance. Not memory. The apps work fine, the iTouch just runs out of kerosene kind of fast.

Directory Server with huge memory - performance issue

We're using Sun Java System Directory Server 5.2Patch6 on Sun T5240
(UltraSPARC T2) with 64GB memory. Setting DBCache + EntryCache > 20G,
some performance degradation occurred.
(A) Sometimes, ping(ICMP echo/reply) reply time was delayed
(from same network segments, it occasionally becomes response time > 100ms
though time is almost response time < 1ms usually).
(B) Small freeze (OS? SDS?) occrred. LDAP search(from other clients)
response time was delayed(access log's etime was <1, but in my experience,
it was delayed).

(2) Is the above-mentioned problems, due to pagesize?

Setting DBCache + EntryCache > 20G, some performance degradation occurred.Based on real-world observations, memory consumption of directory server can be upto thrice the configured entry cache size plus db cache size. So we can expect your process size to be inching toward your physical memory limit.This would in turn most likely cause a performance degradation as other processes also need RAM and the OS would start paging to disk.

From what I have read in various forums a single 2GB module will work in the Core Duo machines. 3GB is not supported however. People who have tried adding 3GB (2GB +1GB) to a Core Duo report the computer would not boot.
I am not sure why you would want to use a single 2GB module though. Perhaps if you were wanting to upgrade to a Core 2 Duo later?
I would say if your going to try to use a single 2GB module understand the risks. i.e. I don't how much people actually tested for stability etc. other than to try it and say yeah it works. You do loose the dual-channel configuration for whatever that is worth.
I would make sure you purchase from a place that has a liberal return policy if your going to try it. Just in case your not happy with it.

The truth is this motherboard/chipset only supports DDR400 speeds... and almost everybody exceeds that speed.
