Perl clients

I am trying to access our web services via a Perl client. I am using the SOAPLite
package with Active Perl. There is no support for complex types in the WSDL handling
in the SOAPLite package.
Now there is a non-WSDL interface. It takes 2 arguments a URI and a proxy. I do
not know what the proxy is for BEA web services
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Actually, when running WL7.0 this didn't quite work for me when running
towards my own dummy WebService. I needed to specify the name of the
parameter as well:
my $r = $s->getTemp(SOAP::Data->name('string')->type(string =>
$zipCode))->result;
(if the name of the parameter for the call in the WSDL is called 'string',
which is the case when autogenerating a WebService with ant - does anyone
know of a way to specity the names of the message parts?).

Hi Alan,
Here's a commented example of what I think you are looking for:
### START OF SOAP::Lite client FOR WWS ###
#!perl -w
use SOAP::Lite;
# Value passed to uri() method, is the value assigned
# to the namespace attribute of the <soap:body> element,
# in the WSDL document.
# Value passed to proxy() method, is the value assigned
# to the location attribute of the <soap:address> element,
# in the WSDL document. This value also cooresponds with the
# <servlet-mapping> element, in web.xml, for the
# servlet that receives SOAP request. For a RPC-style
# WebLogic Web Service, this is the StatelessBeanAdapter.
# Here's the <servlet-mapping> element:
# <servlet-mapping>
# <servlet-name>statelessSession.WeatherHome</servlet-name>
# <url-pattern>/weatheruri</url-pattern>
# </servlet-mapping>
my $s = SOAP::Lite
-> uri('urn:Weather')
-> proxy('http://localhost:7001/weather/weatheruri');
my $zipCode = '90210';
my $r = $s->getTemp(SOAP::Data->type(string => $zipCode))->result;
print "Temperature for $zipCode is $r\n";
### END OF SOAP::Lite client FOR WWS ###
This example uses the weatherEJB example from the WLS 6.1 install, but Ithink
you can figure out from the comments how to use map things to yourparticuar WebLogic
Web Service ;-)

    What's the error you are getting? Where is the script placed?

  • Problems while developing a Perl client

    Hi,
    I am trying to interface to the OCWS using SOAP through Perl.
    Here is the code:
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    use strict;
    use LWP::UserAgent;
    use HTTP::Request;
    my $ua = LWP::UserAgent->new(env_proxy => 1, keep_alive => 1, timeout => 30, );
    my $data_to_send;#-- And build a string of it
    open(SOAPREQ,"soap_req.soap");
    while(<SOAPREQ>) {
    $data_to_send = "$data_to_send$_";
    print "Sending :\n$data_to_send\n";
    #-- Create the Request Object and send the data
    my $response =
    $ua->request(HTTP::Request->new('POST', 'http://development-10.cc.uic.edu/ocws-bin/ocas.fcgi',
    HTTP::Headers->new('Content-Type' => 'text/xml', 'SOAPAction' => 'http://www.oracle.com/WebServices/Calen\
    daring/1.0/'), $data_to_send));
    #-- Print the response
    print $response->as_string;
    Note that I have my SOAP payload in the soap_req.soap file. This is a simple Ping command. Here is the listing:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <soap:Body>
    <cwsl:Ping xmlns:cwsl=
    "http://www.oracle.com/WebServices/Calendaring/1.0/">
    </cwsl:Ping>
    </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>
    But, this doesn't seem to work. (I realise that I have not set the Content-Length SOAP header in the Perl code. If this could be the source of the problem, would someone please tell me whether the Content-Length includes the length of the headers also or just the payload).
    The listing for the response in SOAP indicates a "method name not supported error". Here is the listing for the response:

  • Calling an ALSB service from Perl... Example anyone?

    I'm a sysadmin that wants to write a couple of perl scripts to test some important ALSB services (currently we're ALSB 2.6, but moving to OSB 10gR3). I'm not a java developer, nor do I fullyunderstand how ALSB services are called. I have an example perl script for calling a WSDL based webservice, but I'm not sure if it applied to ALSB, or if it does, how to figure out the questions i have. The developers here don't seem to be familiar with the terms in my example program...
    What it seems to need is a URI, a URL, and a name of the service, and then it tries to hit the service through a standard http call.
    Has anyone else tried to write a perl client to call an ALSB service? I could REALLY use an example. Doesn't have to be fancy, I just need to understand how I would make this call, if it is even possible...

    Hi,
    I've just found some public material here on SDN:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/88bcb7c6-0701-0010-8fb7-a6964dd3ee00
    This talks about an older version, but hopefully it will help figuring out what to do.
    There are additional useful documents here (CAF Tutorial Center on SDN):

  • Is there a Report/Query on Photos already linked to SAP to Infotype 2

    We have a requirement to have a report that displays personnel number , document type and whether or not they have a document (in our case photo) linked to them or not? Is there any report/queries or tables that could assist me with this.
    We currently use transaction OAAD, and click on the 'technical search' button to find linked photos, what happens at the moment, user actually needs to pull this report and then pull a normal employee list on SAP, and do a Vlookup. It also doesn't give us the exact personel number, because in the column SAP Object ID in transaction OAAD it combines the personnel number, with the Infotype number it is linked to.
    Is there any other way of obtaining this information from any other report or possible queries that could be created?

    Hi Chantelle
    You can get the list of employee numbers who have a photo attached.
    1. TCODE OAAD -> Click "Technical Search" under Documents Section -> Type Business Object = PERL, Client=Your client number, and Document type = HRICOLFOTO.
    2. Click Execute.
    3. In the next window keep everything empty. And, press ENTER.
    The result will tell you "Employee Number" under SAP Object ID, "Link to Image" under Document ID(double click it to see the image), and "Date of Image Upload" under Storage Data Fields.
    Hope you happen to get close to desired output!
    Regards
    Yash

  • Mapping lookup up failure with input JavaBean with an array of strings

    To receive input data our Web service defines a JavaBean one element of which is
    an array of strings. When a test Java client calls the service method the call
    is completed successfully. When a Perl client calls the service method an exception
    is returned. If I understand BEA's Web service documentation, it isn't necessary

    Hi Jeff,
    Looks like the Perl client is using an older (deprecated) schema
    namespace "http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema" that is causing this
    failure.
    Hope this helps,
    Bruce

    To receive input data our Web service defines a JavaBean one element of which is
    an array of strings. When a test Java client calls the service method the call
    is completed successfully. When a Perl client calls the service method an exception
    is returned. If I understand BEA's Web service documentation, it isn't necessary
    to do development for the service specifically to enable correct processing of
    an array of strings.
    In our environment we are running WL 8.1 SP 1.
    Please review the problem documentation and explain to me the cause of the exception
    and what I must do to prevent it.

    Fyi.. I've tried to install DBD::Oracle version 1.24 and 1.50 but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I couldn't find any related thread either for this error so I desperately need a solution to the same(if any).

  • How to Install or Use Perl in 11g client?

    Hi all,
    I read this doc:
    Perl 5.10.0 is included in the Oracle 11.2.0.1 client.
    Execute the following command to ensure that the correct version of Perl is in the user
    profile PATH.
    perl -V
    'perl' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.But if i use the full path exe:
    C:\Documents and Settings\dev>C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1\perl\bin\perl.exe -v
    This is perl, v5.10.0 built for MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

  • Simple Client for web service ...Perl way

    II need to get information from a web service (with a defined WSDL)...I have been able to do that with Perl ((using SOAP:Lite) which is pretty staight forward....
    I was trying to do the same with Java ..I tried to find tutorials ...but was overwhelmed with the amount of information ..in there .(They talk about writing the server installing axis etc ..but fail interms of a simple explanation to create a simple client
    I was wondering if you could help me to get hold of a tutorial/resource which helps in simply creating a connection and getting information from the remote application...

    hi
    writing webservices using tomcat and axis is pretty easy ..... you have to create a java class to describe your service .... and save it in the axis subdirectory of tomcat .... and call the service from a client on a remote machine using the IP address and port details ...

  • Using perl on client version of apache

    I am creating a simple web page locally on my machine that does (vote) polling.
    To do so, I need to use a perl script (in this case).
    How do I install/activate cgi-bin for the built-in apache server so I can test my page?
    By default,all it does is load the perl script text in the browser.
    I do not have OS 10.5 server, just the client.
    Note : I am a hobbyist programmer and can hand-code HTML.

    How do I install/activate cgi-bin for the built-in apache server so I can test my page?
    CGI is already enabled. You just need to save your script in /Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables. This is where Apache is told to look for any /cgi-bin/ URIs.

  • Instant Client 11.1.0.1, Perl DBD::Oracle, and Kerberos

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to get an Instant Client working so I can connect to remote server and sync the data up with our own. It works, but there is a problem. Basically, if I connect via the Perl DBI and DBD::Oracle, Kerberos authentication bits get screwed up for the rest of the process. If I connect to the remote server, and then a local non-Oracle service via Kerberos, the latter fails. Note that, if done separately, they work fine.
    Looking into it, it appears that it wants to open the file /krb5/krb.conf, which doesn't exist for me (/etc/krb5.conf is the Kerberos config file). I found something online (http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/network.920/a96573/asoappb.htm) that suggests that I should change some KERBEROS* parameters in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/sqlnet.ora. Either I'd like to have it try to open the right Kerberos config, or just ignore Kerberos altogether. Unfortunately, I have an old sqlnet.ora, that appears to have been generated by some external interface, and I'd like to maybe do this again, the "right way".
    [koczan@ator] ~ $ cat /s/oracle-csl/network/admin/sqlnet.ora
    # SQLNET.ORA Network Configuration File: /local.gazoo/oracle/network/admin/sqlnet.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = cs.wisc.edu
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)
    The other thing I'm wondering is why it's even looking at Kerberos. Doing ldd on the sqlplus binary, the libraries, and the DBD::Oracle shared library showed no reference to Kerberos.
    [koczan@ator] ~ $ ldd /s/oracle-csl/perl5/lib/site_perl/5.8.6/i686-linux-64int/auto/DBD/Oracle/Oracle.so
    linux-gate.so.1 => (0x0043d000)
    libclntsh.so.11.1 => /s/oracle-csl-0/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1 (0x00783000)
    libocci.so.11.1 => /s/oracle-csl-0/lib/libocci.so.11.1 (0x00110000)
    libociei.so => /s/oracle-csl-0/lib/libociei.so (0x02cf2000)
    libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x00272000)
    libnnz11.so => /s/oracle-csl-0/lib/libnnz11.so (0x004ea000)
    libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x003b2000)
    libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x003b6000)
    libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x003dd000)
    libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x003f4000)
    libaio.so.1 => /usr/lib/libaio.so.1 (0x0040b000)
    libstdc++.so.6 => /s/gcc-3.4.4/i386_cent40/lib/libstdc++.so.6 (0x0215a000)
    libgcc_s.so.1 => /s/gcc-3.4.4/i386_cent40/lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x0040d000)
    /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x004cf000)
    So, is there something I'm missing? What would be a good way to make everything happy? I tried looking online for this, and asking the DBD::Oracle people, and I couldn't find anything.
    I'm running Instant Client 11.1.0.1 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1, Perl 5.8.8, DBI 1.602, DBD::Oracle 1.19, Kerberos 1.6.2.
    Thanks. I know this was a lot of info and questions for this, but any help would be appreciated.

    There's no SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES set in my sqlnet.ora. I assume it's using some sort of default or trying everything, is there a way to tell what it's doing even though nothing is set?
    All I need to do is connect via password-based authentication to a remote server. What should SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES be set to for that?
    I couldn't find any clear resource documenting SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES, if you could point me to one that would be excellent.
    Thanks.
    P.S. Here's the entirety of my sqlnet.ora file.
    # SQLNET.ORA Network Configuration File
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    # Originally on gazoo - /local.gazoo/oracle/network/admin/sqlnet.ora
    # Modified for use with Oracle InstantClient
    NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = cs.wisc.edu
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)
    SQLNET.KERBEROS5_CONF=/etc/krb5.conf

  • Perl and Oracle Client Install

    Hi,
    When installing the Oracle Client on user machines, does it not install Perl as well? Something like $ORACLE_HOME/perl/.....
    I am installing the client and I am not seeing this. Or this only for the non-client versions?
    By the way I am installing Oracle 10gR1 (10.2.0.1)

    Ya I did the client install as well and noticed that I had it as well, but for the client install on 10gR1 it is not. This is weird. Basically I am trying to apply a patch using OPatch and it keeps saying that Perl is needed. When I downloaded the Perl manually, it still said that it could not reconize Perl. Any thoughts?
