When I delete a text message s it saved in another area in my phone? I do not want specific messages found and read by another person.

Help has arrived! I understand the importance it is to make sure the text messages are deleted permanently once you delete them form your phone. What make/model phone do you have? What application are you using when you text? Have you ever backed up your phone with Verizon Cloud or set up to back up automatically?

I made a Icloud back up two days ago. I have text messaged and sent emails since. I haven't backed up again yet and I was wondering that if I erase my phone and back up to that Icloud Back up made two days ago, the texts and emails I have sent SINCE then will be permanently deleted? That is correct you can only get back data that was backed up.

Retrieving permanently deleted text messages

Does anyone know if verizon or if I can retrieve texts that have been permanently deleted from my phone? At one time, someone told me they could because her parents did it, but now that I've been asking other verizon users, they say that they can't do it. HELP?!?!

Well, my boyfriend was needing texts that he deleted to make "space" on his phone. He needs them for a court case, but we haven't got in touch with verizon yet to see if they can do that or not. I was just curious as to what other people had to say first. : ) The lawyer who was questioning him said that Verizon doesn't have a system or a way of retrieving permanently deleted texts. Which could be a bummer, but we'll see.

All of the sudden my entire text message history was deleted, but if I search for a text it shows up in the results but will not open. How can I restore the old text messages?

I went to text message on my phone and when I looked down my entire text message history was gone. When I sent a text message it showed up as the only box an there was not an Load Older Messages option. But when I page over and search a word or name old messages show up in the results and when I press on them it opens the text message page but there is no text message.

i think that was the problem. i simply downgraded to Firefox 5, not only because of the highlighted text fields, but because i was getting a lot of crash reports whenever i opened multiple tabs. downgrading to Firefox 5 resolved it.

Just delete them. Or, do you mean beyond just deleting them? Then, you'd need to wipe the phone - select Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. That's a secure wipe of the iPhone contents, takes several hours (connect to AC power). You'll need to set your phone up from scratch (and erase the old backup(s) from your computer, since your SMS history is part of the backup).

For each contact press and hold your finger over the message you want to delete. A pop up appears then choose More...
You can then choose Delete All from the top left of the screen, or select each message individually on the left then touch delete at the bottom left of the screen to delete just those messages you previously selected.

Open the Messages App to teh messages list. Tap Edit. Tap the minus icon for each mesage thread, then tap Delete. Individual messages can be deleted from teh thread view by tapping Edit, selecting the message , then tapping Delete (lower left).
Caveat - this will delete SMS messages from the Phone. How long they aactually remain on the server depends on your carrier's policies.

You can factory reset from the recovery rom, which will rewrite the device to factory. And nobody but you can get your text history without a subpoena to the carrier from law enforcement.

Where would you expect to retrieve those deleted message if you didn't backup your phone?

No, there is no way of changing that particular sound. Sounds like a blip.

Trying to look up my text message history

Needing to track down some old information from a text message, and I deleted that persons number. Ive been told I can look up my text message history, but I can't seem to find it on the Verizonwireless website.

Temporary solution for deleting text messages for the Droid X

For everyone trying to delete the message history:
I know this is a pain in the rear-end, but I found a way that works as a temporary fix.
~Write down the number of the contact you're trying to delete from the history (ex girl/boyfriend, secret lover, whom ever)
~Delete the contact
~Re-enter the contacts info
You'll notice the history for that contact is gone and even though this is a rather long route to take to delete the history it works.
Now lets just hope there's an update soon.

I am not sure you if you know this or not but the Droid X stores text messages as well as phone call histories in two locations. One location for your text messages is at the location where you would normally send or receive messages, you can reply to them and if you'd like you can delete the conversation as well as the trend, however, there is a catch. Even though you have deleted the trend or conversation, if you go to your contacts and swip your finger to the left or right (I can't recall which way but you'll know when you see your message history) you'll see all you text messages. It's this location where the messages and call history can not be deleted and the only way I have found and so far the only technique that actually works, is to delete the entire contact, once the contact is deleted you will no longer have the history listed. Then you can readd the contact and repeat the process until an update is provided. I hope this doesn't confuse you too much.

Clearing of text messages history

for some reason my blackberry curve just started clearing all my text message history??? i've no idea why or how? in fact, i checked the history option and i have it set to keeping it for 6 months, before it was 3 months, but i never had the problem that all of a sudden all my text messages were cleared, it seems as if it may be on some schedule to clear it all. but how this came about i've no idea as i don't believe that i changed any function and i don't want this happening anymore...

Sometimes happens because you are running the device under low memory.
First of all with the phone turn on take out the battery for 30 seconds and reinstall the battery again.
