Safari keeps opening windows in full screen. Is there a way to turn off full screen completely?

If you close Firefox 4 while in full screen mode then the browser should start in full screen mode the next time. That setting is stored in localstore.rdf in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder].
If you want to prevent toolbars from opening if you hover to the top then hide the full-screen-toggler with code in userChrome.css
Add code to userChrome.css below the @namespace line.

You don't unfortunately.
As an alternate to the Option-click the green button for zooming a window, you can also just double-click any app window's title bar for the same effect, if you don't have the minimise option checked in System Preferences > Dock

Disable full screen safari on iPhone

After upgrading to iOS 7, I noticed that the toolbar disappears in safari while browsing. I am a heavy user of the back button and the bookmarks button. Both of them only require a single touch to use in iOS 6. Now that the toolbar disappears, if I want to use the back button, I either have swipe completely left to right or swipe down to get the toolbar back so I can use the back button. For the bookmarks button, I have to swipe down to bring back the toolbar and then I can use it. Alternatively, I can try to chicken peck the bottom of the screen with the hopes that the toolbar will reappear. If I use this alternative approach, sometimes it works, sometimes nothing happens, and sometimes I hit an ad by mistake.
Is there a way to disable full screen mode in safari on iPhone? I will gladly give up the additional real estate to have a persistent toolbar. It works better with the way I browse.

Try this app. I've used it for a year or so and it takes full screen pics. It doesnt offer a ton of advanced functionality but it works. It also allows users to take photos by tapping anywhere on the screen (which was my original reason for downloading). Enjoy

Firefox for Mac: accidentally disabled full screen Flash video for Yahoo. How to reenable??

I was looking at a video on screen.yahoo.com, and that annoying "Now entering full screen... allow/don't allow" (paraphrasing) dialog came up at the top. I must have inadvertently selected the option to disable, because now when I click the fullscreen icon at the lower right part of the video, nothing happens at all. No full screen, no annoying dialog. Nothing.
As per other posts on this forum from people who have had this problem, I have tried the following:
• Deleted ALL Flash Player settings in my Mac's System Preferences
• Gone to about:permissions in Firefox and set Fullscreen to ALLOW for all Yahoo URLs
• Deleted all COOKIES for domain yahoo.com
I have also quit and rebooted Firefox after having done these things. Alas, I go back to the video on screen.yahoo.com, click the fullscreen icon in the video frame, and still get nothing.
I'm stumped. This seems to be a heavy price to pay for accidentally clicking the wrong button one time. Sort of a Zero Tolerance Policy approach to video settings... Any other ideas about how I can restore this functionality??

You can hover the image.
That should make a delete X appear.
You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

How to disable full screen prompt

I have a folder level javascript that puts all pdfs into full screen mode. It is a super simple script; app.fs.isFullScreen=true;
My issue is that it always prompts the user, notifying them that Acrobat is trying to put the current pdf into full screen mode. I would like to disable this prompt. I want Acrobat to always go into full screen mode and never prompt the user. Can i disable this prompt in javascript? Please help

Is there a way to programmatically set this via Javascript? I have 60inch monitors that will display and loop through multiple pdfs. I want these pdfs to always show in full screen, to fill up the monitors. So is it possible to access via Javascript, these preferences and be able to 'deselect' the Alert when going into full screen for all pdfs, instead of having to do it individually? I have looked at the javascript docs; but i do not believe app.fs will provide me access to those properties.

How to disable full screen "fade" transition?

Hello,
Just got my new MBP and upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion in the process. Computer seems to work great, but Aperture now has this odd "slideshow" like fade when I toggle to my images in full screen. It's slow and distracting, more gimmicky than anything else. Does anyone know how to disable this?
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere...couldn't find a thread by searching.

Thanks, Leonie. It's nice to know I'm not a lone voice crying out in the wilderness! I find it hard to believe that other photographers who use Aperture for professional work aren't bothered by this feature.
My problem is that yes, a direct "cut" from one image to the other--like it used to be!--is the only practical way to compare photos...
I have tried to find ways to "turn off animations" in the Mac OS, but it seems that none of the old methods that worked with Lion worked with Mountain Lion.
I will take your advice and write feedback to Apple.

Disable full screen banner?

Is there a way to disable the banner that says I am now in full screen? I dont mind it popping up when I go to full screen but when I touch the top of the screen with the mouse the banner pops up again

Disable Full Screen animation?

In Pages '09, is it possible to disable the window animation when shifting into Full Screen view and back to window view?
I'm hoping there may be a Terminal command to do this.

How to disable full screen advertisements on samsung brightside?

I started getting full screen ads on my samsung brightside. I now get 2-3 per day, and I have option of dismissing or viewing them.
How can I turn this annoying feature off? I didnt perform any software updates to alter the phone. Why is it all of a sudden showing ads now?

you have to go into your apps and remove the app daily pulse. (I think that is what it is called) once that is removed it should not come up. I had to do it myself and I haven't seen any adds since.

Disable full screen mode on Google Chrome?

I know this has been a problme for many for a while now but I was wondering if they have finally fixed this very annoying problem?

Swipe up from the bottom of the web page and the toolbar disappears which then enables the full screen mode. As soon as you swipe down on the screen, the toolbar will reappear. This does not function in the same way that a true full screen mode works, like it does in iCab Mobile, but that's as good as it gets in Chrome.

I've finally gotten my mother-in-law comfortable with her Mac and now Full Screen Mode has thrown her for a loop. She will inadvertently go into Full Screen and then never remembers how to get out of it.
Is there a way to set System Preferences so that none of the applications will go into full screen mode?

I can't find one either, like many new Lion features this only gets activated by accident and its a struggle each time to make it go away.

I'd like to be able to watch slideshows in the iphoto window & Not have it take up the full computer screen-I'm a multi-tasker.
A few versions ago, that was possible, but the option was removed.

Use the Preview button rather than the play button. That way it will play in the window.

Windows Vista update has disabled full screen minimize feature when watching videos

After recent Vista update I can no longer connect to hyperlinks in emails and fullscreen video function disables functionality and I can no longer stop or minimize videos until a system reboot. Hoe do I restore to before the update?

Disable Full-screen button, please?

I'd really appreciate an option in OSX to completely turn off the fullscreen button, mostly because my parents are constantly putting their Mac into fullscreen and having trouble getting back out of it (no matter how many times I show them). Seriously, it can't be hard to write like 2 lines of code ("fullscreen enable = false" or whatever) to give users the option to turn this feature off completely.

This is an interesting question which has been asked here before, usually in the context of befuddled elderly parents trying to use their Macs. I too have struggled with an aging parent trying to use a mac. I think the hard part is being able to remember things, like key combinations.
Anyway I don't think there is an easy solution for your problem via the terminal, at least I haven't found one. You could give Apple feedback on this here: Apple - Feedback or another thought would be to make a simpler key combination for them, a new keyboard shortcut, in System Preferences.

Full screen playback on second monitor results in having to force quit Premier if a window opens on the second monitor.

Run into this problem a few times now. If I have full screen playback going to my second monitor, and then I try to do something like link media and the link media window opens on that second monitor I can't figure out a way to get to it. I end up having to force quit. Because the link media window causes all other application buttons to disable while it is open I have not been able to find a solution other than force quitting, reopen and disable full screen playback, open link media window and move it to the other monitor and then again enable full screen playback.
Has anyone run into this? Am I missing an easy solution?

You need to set up your Graphics Card Application first eg A and B Monitors , side by side etc.
In my case..a NVidea Display Application does this from the Control Panel
Then the second monitor will appear in display setting (Premiere).
My second monitor is entirely dedicated to full screen playback display.
