Permission issues between an intel 10.7 and a G5 10.5

I hope you guys could should some light on and issue we are having at my office.
I have 2 girls in our ad department. Angie is on a relatively new Mac Pro running 10.7, and Robin is on a G5 Mac Pro running 10.5. They are part of our company network of about 150 windows computers. Everything works just fine except for a NAS that is used primarily for our ad department. Both girls have read and write access to this NAS.
Here's the problem. Robin can upload files to the NAS with no issues. She can open items with no issue. She cannot delete or edit any items. If Angie drops a file onto Robin's desktop via finder, Robin can't delete/edit it. And if Robin does the same to Angie, Angie can't delete/edit it. Angie can upload/edit/delete anything on the NAS with no issues.
Just for curiusity's sake, I hooked my intel imac 10.8 onto the network. Admin gave me read/write access and I can do whatever I want on the NAS, with no issues.
The temporary fix these girls have found is to change the permissions of the nas, the change them back to the original, and apply to enclosing folders.
Do you geniuses have any ideas on how to make this work without a hitch?

It sounds like the files each user creates are owned by the creator. That is normal. But then only the creator can modify them.
To make this work, both need to be members of the same Group, and each must have Group Read/Write permissions on the files/Directories created.

You could also be running afoul of this obscure problem:

I am facing some migration/compatibility issues between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5:
I am working on a project that has been completely developed in CS3 earlier. When I am using CS5 (Flash Player 9 / Flash Player 10) to compile the FLA files, it is creating some new issues like some customized radio buttons are getting disappeared while viewing the SWF on a web page etc.
So, I would like to know:
1) Is there any migration/compatibility issue between Adobe Flash CS3 Professional and Adobe Flash Professional CS5?
2) If yes: Is there any patch available from Adobe for it?
3) If no: What could be the causes and the best possible solutions for it?

Serious Sync issues between iTunes 8.0.2 and AppleTV 2.3

Please Help,
Everything was just wonderful until several weeks back when the AppleTV started having sync issues that seem to have degraded into oblivion. Rebooted everything, checked all software loads, tried many of the suggestions (no blocking network / firewall issues) and have even tried adding redundant port allows for any and all ports I could find going in / out of Apple TV. But to no avail there seems to be a bug that got introduced somewhere with the sync mechanisms.
The Apple TV can purchase movies, download them fast to start playing, view youtube videos just fine and play all of the media great, So can my Mac and all media / iTunes functions work well it even syncs with my iPhone / iPods well.
However... The only way I can get the AppleTV to sync is to reboot it, then it will sync some, iTunes will just get to a forever syncing with Apple TV state (which you have to stop), reboot AppleTV again, it will sync some more, until it stops, iTunes is stuck syncing forever with AppleTV again, repeat and rinse about 4 more times and you have it all synced.
If there isn't anything to sync when AppleTV boots the Sync in iTunes just spins for ever. I actually left it for 4 days just to see if it was actually doing anything. Minimal Network IO and of course it never finished.
If I stop the Sync with Apple TV in iTunes and then try to reinitiate it from iTunes I get the 3986 port error (which is bogus) unless there is some hidden setting somewhere in the OS that I can't find. And if there was a problem then why would it start and run when I boot the Apple TV.
It just seems that all of a sudden things started going wrong with Sync with no real change other than 'software updates' .
The only thing I haven't tried is to do a factory reset on the AppleTV which from what I have read doesn't really solve anything.
So, please someone from Apple or someone with some detailed technical experience provide some guidance on whether there is a bug that got introduced, version issues between iTunes/AppleTV, or something else going that I haven't been able to figure out over the last 2 weeks.
The only other unique things that may be different is that I have my iTunes library on an external drive (not on the internal drive). Does this many any difference?

And it's good to know I'm not the only one with the problem too! I just cannot sync stuff from Mac to Apple TV without it locking up. It actually seems to lock the wifi also, meaning I have to quit iTunes, turn off the wifi and then turn it back on again. But as soon as I open iTunes, the same problem again...
I've tried everything I can think of, searched all help articles, but cannot sort out this somewhat annoying problem.

Permission issues between multiple users in iPhoto (on iMac)?

I never had an issue with permission for sharing iphoto among 3 users on my iMac until I got the latest version of iLife several months ago. Now, all users can see all existing photo's but when anyone adds new photo's from a camera, the others can't see them (they can see the thumbnail, but comes up with the nasty yellow triangle when trying to view full size).
Yes, I have all the "permission for sharing among all users" set (I've checked this, and as I said, never had issues before).
I have found a fix by holding down the Option and Command keys as I open iPhoto, then checking the bottom box to "Examine and repair iphoto permissions". This fixes all permissions for all users, by why do I have to monkey with that every time I add more pictures? Never had to do that before I had the newer version of iLife.

Try opening your iPhoto preferences and making sure the connecting camera open "iPhoto" is selected. Also try restarting your iPhone by holding down the on/off and the home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo. If you are still having problems try taking a picture with you iPhone then connect it to your iMac.

JCo 3.0 connectivity issues between Java application on NWCE and ERP

Requirement: We have a Java application that would run on NWCE. This application will be invoked from ERP/SAPGUI via HTML Controller. With SSO enabled, the goal is to pass ERP credentials to CE application. This CE application in turn will use ERP credentials from Logon ticket to connect to ERP and invoke BAPI calls (JCo 3.0 destination)

Current scnerio:

It seems that if Vision 7.2 (perhaps older versions also) is installed, Lenovo System Update can no longer download updates. The list of updates is still downloaded and the updates applicable to the system are shown, but the actual download fails.
I suspect it may be related to how Vision 7 modifies the network stack in Windows to block web browsing. (Note that I didn't have any issues actually browsing the web with a browser, only downloading in TVSU failed).

Compatibility issues between Berkeley DB Java Edition and Berkeley DB

We are trying to use both Berkeley DB Java Edition and Berkeley DB (Java/C) in one of our projects. However, they share the common classes (i.e. EntryDingin.java), but with their own different impementation. Is there any reason that they have to share the same names/packages? Can we request to have the shared java classes going into different packages?

Hello Yao,
You're correct and the DB and JE products were not designed to run under the same classloader in the same JVM. It is very unlikely that we'll be changing the package names, since that would be very disruptive and yet have no value for the overwhelming majority of users. We will note your request, however, for future reference.
The two workarounds I know of are:
1. Use a separate classloader for the use of each product.
2. Use a tool such as jarjar links (http://code.google.com/p/jarjar/) to rename the packages in one or both of the products.
Option 2 is not something we (the JE team members) have experience with, but it was used successfully by a JE user. The user also pointed out a bug in the jarjar tool to be aware of: http://code.google.com/p/jarjar/issues/detail?id=21

How do I resolve syncing issues between Windows 7 64-Bit and my IPhone 4?

I keep getting an error when trying to sync my iPhone 4 to my new computer.
The error reads as follows:
This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes.
I cannot tell you how fed up I am with this error and Apple's lack of willingness to resolve the issue without purchasing support.
Does anyone have a fix for this issue to include step by step instructions? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thnak you.

I had the same problem. The following link solved my problem, in particular "Step 5". The regestry entries did the job. I think there is a problem with the iTunes 64-bit installer.

Connectivity issue between STVN OrgChart 2.1 and SAP

Hi all,
We're facing an issue below:
We have installed OrgChart 2.1 Live, but when configuring (http://localhost/orgchart/manager.aspx) there's an option of Staged there to be filled.
Is that right? Do we need to configure Staged even we choose Live on installation or leave those fields on blank?
Also when we try to connect to SAP server via (http://localhost/orgchart/default.aspx) using username and password nothing happens just a message (invalid login).
Do we need to configure something else? Roles? etc?

Hi Marcelo,
You can ignore the Staged configuration in the Live version. From STVN2.1 the admin console includes both.
You need to configure the role mapping in either RoleMapping.xml or the administrator console (in Security). If a user doesn't have a role that is mapped then they cannot log into the application.

Is there a compatibility issue between Adobe Camera Raw, CS5, and Windows 8.1?

I have a new computer with Windows 8.1. I installed Photoshop CS5 (which runs fine under Windows 7) but now after editing images in camera raw and clicking on the Open Images button, it takes several attempts to pass the images on to open in Photoshop CS5. Is there a fix for this compatibility problem?

Actually I have now discovered the cause of the problem. My speakers are Boston Acoustics BA735 digital speakers. I discovered that there was an Analog out put from the sound card and by changing the speaker connections they are now working albeit in Analog whereas previously they were connected Digitally.
The new drivers supplied by Microsoft have obviously switched the output to analog.
Are there any Drivers available which would allow me to revert to normal digital working.

Work around technique for imcompatibility issues between Firefox 6.0 and Avast Free Antivirus 6.0, esp "Unresponsive Scripts."

I am using Firefox 6.0, Avast Free Anti-Virus 6.0 and Windows XP.
I am experiencing slow/freezing web browsing after a recent upgrade to Firefox 6.0. Not all but on most occasions, I also get a warning from Avast of an "unresponsive script." I suspect there is a compatibility issue between these versions of Firefox and Avast--are they any short and/or long term solutions to this. I suppose I can disable the Script Blocker on Avast but that would defeat the purpose of having an anti-virus program.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

File sharing issues between iMac G5 20"/Mac OS 10.5.8 and iBook G3 600mhz/Mac OS 10.4.9.

Both Macs can copy files from each other using the AFP connection. However, I cannot copy files to another Mac. So when I try and copy a file from the iMac to the iBook, I get these series of messages:
1) You May Need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer on this computer to change the item names "filename".
2) The item "filename" contains one or more items you do not have permission to read. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?
3) The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.
I'm not given the prompt for name and password at any stage.
When I try and copy from the iBook to the iMac, this is the only message I receive:

With the iMac, I have the permissions preferences set for my startup drive and external harddrives for Read and Write for all entries. I can't do that on the iBook because it doesn't have those settings in the Sharing Preferences.
Could the fact that both Macs use the same user/account name and password? I never had this issue between my iBook and Power Mac G3 300mhz/Mac OS 10.2.8 when having the same name and password.

I've done a little reading, and it has to do with under the hood stuff with the Login ID number. I found how to change it on the iBook, but I can't figure it out on the iMac. Ideally, I want them to both be 501. So how do I sent the iMac in Mac OS 10.5.8?
