Permissions configuration

We are trying to set up an xserve with the following permissions,
On a share, where all users have read/write access, we would like the owner of each document to have full permissions, and all other users to have read only permissions, and not be allowed to trash documents.
We have the group, lets say Group1, setup to Read Only, and can get the permissions to look right, i.e.
User1 makes a new document, and has read/write permission, with the Group1 permissions at read only, but when User2 logs on, who is a member of Group1, he can throw the document in the trash...no questions asked, but can not change the document.
I not understand, we are using ACL and POSIX permissions on this share. Is there a permission or user, that will give us this setup??

I know this may seem simple, but I still feel it does not work.
We have made a share, Test, user unknown, group test. User has read/write, group has read only.
Two users, test1 and test 2.
A file is copied to the server as test1, I then login as test2, and look at the permission, that are correct, test2 has read only permissions, and test1 is the owner with read/write. The problem is that test2 can throw the file out, witch in my understanding, is more than read only!!!!! I hav screen dumps of the permissions....if you do not believe me. There must be a way of setting the permissions up, so only the owneer has fuld rihgts to a file/folder. Any ideas welcome. We have tried to make a deny rule for the group test, but then nobody can throw the files/folders out.

  • Authentication mac-move permit with NAC

    Hi,
    I have 2 switches with NAC configured on it. i also have "authentication mac-move permit" configured on my 2 switches that are connected togther. my understanding is authentication mac-move permit does not work with 802.1x enabled ports.
    so i would like to verify i my understanding is correct that if i have authentication mac-move permit configured and a laptop moves to another port without logging off the switch will see that as a violation and block the user right?

    anyone run into this before?

  • FIM Password Reset Client Service error 1053 when starting service - what is the minimum permissions set?

    Hi,
    I've installed Password Reset Client Service on a machine with locked down GPO settings. Now, service, running under NETWORK_SERVICE account doesn't start (Service Control Manager reports error 1053 after waiting 30 seconds for the service to respond during
    start).
    If I change service account to some other account (i.e. domain account), service runs fine and I am able to reset password successfully, so there is no issues with password reset infrastructure, firewall, etc..). Problem is only with NETWORK SERVICE not
    having enough permission to do its job.
    Unfortunately, there is no event log entries in neither of relevant event logs (Application, Security, System, Forefront Identity Manager) that would provide additional information on why service doesn't start. ProcessMonitor tracing revealed only, that
    service cannot access some of the registry entries. After granting permissions, service still refuses to start.
    What I'd like to know is there a list of permissions, configuration entries, that NETWORK SERVICE needs in order to run normally?
    If that is not available, does anybody have any idea, how to find out what is preventing NETWORK SERVICE account from running that service?
    Thank you and best regards,
    P

    Fatih,
    The above often solves it because this disabled CRL checking for the account running the service. As the service is the network service, it has no scope off of the box, so the machine account is typically used and many shops have policies in place that prevent
    this. If the above entry doesn't help, try using your account as the service account. If that works, then its probably a syntax problem with above entry. If it fails with your account too then its most likely not CRL checking.  There is
    a registry key that can be configured that could assist:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System \CurrentControlSet \Control]
    ServicesPipeTimeout = 30000
    Try setting this to another value higher than 30000. This value is milliseconds. I would also look at network capture and verify if we are indeed attempting to go to the Internet during service startup.

  • Role within a role, seperate permissions

    Hi there
    I have a role, HR, which must appear in the top level navigation. That is simple to do ... create the role, add iviews etc., mark as entry point and assign users to the role ... displays nicely.
    Now, as part of the HR section, we would like another section, namely Payroll, which is only accessible to certain people.
    I can create a new role, called Payroll, and assign certain users to that role.
    I then add the Payroll role to the HR Role ... Payroll now appears in the detailed navigation as required, but all users have access to the iviews within the Payroll role, which is not what we want.
    If I mark the Payroll role as an entry point, then it only appears in the top level navigation for users who have been assigned to the role.
    This makes me think I have the permissions configured correctly.
    What do I need to do to make detailed navigation rely on the role permissions? It would appear the permissions are being "inherited" from the parent Role, which is not what I want.
    Is there a way to get a role within a role to keep its permissions and ignore the parent permissions?
    Can I do this in the detailed navigation, or should I be trying something else?
    Should this perhaps be done at a workset level instead?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated (and no doubt points awarded)

    Thanks Marty
    I had forgotten about Merging, and that seems to have gotten me most of the way.
    I can successfully merge, and the new item only appears for the relevant users, but it merges quite high.
    I would like the merging to happen in the detailed navigation, but I can't seem to get this right.
    At the moment, I have 2 worksets, namely Home and Payroll. I set the merge properties on these 2 worksets. Home workset is then assigned to the HR Workbench role. When I log in as a user who has access to the Payroll role, then I see the HR Workbench role, and in the second level navigation, I see Home and Payroll (worksets).
    What I would like, is to have the Payroll workset appearing in the detailed navigation.
    I have tried merging on the folders in the Home workset, but still don't see anything in the detailed navigation.
    Do you know if it is possible to merge in the detailed navigation, or only top level navigation?
    Thanks for the answer ... I will reward points now

  • DCOM Permissions Scripting

    Hi Scripting Guys.
    I have to automate application deployment to a server 2012 R2. I have scripted with VBS all the configurations except of DCOM permissions configuration for the windows service account that calls Office 2010 (32bit) apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint ...). I know
    using Office on a server is not the best idea, but in my case I do not have a choice and it works fine. However I have to avoid any manual deployment and configuration steps. I can easily configure 32 bit DCOM for Office apps manually and the application works
    fine, but I cannot find the DCOM configuration scripting solution either VBS or batch commands.
    I need to allow windows service account (domain user) to launch and access the Office apps in order to convert and format office documents to PDF. The service account is a member of local server Administrator group.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Here are the instructions for setting COM permission:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731858.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    The only method I know of to set these are using the SDK tool called dcomperm.exe.  You can also use the MSI installer to set permissons.  See the MSI SDK for instructions.  I know of no way to do this with a script.
    I can give you a pointer.  Under AppID in the registry the security is set as a binary entry.  You can set this by geberating the binary security ID using the Windows API.
    Here are the instructions on how this is done:

  • Setting up Perl under Apache

    I'm very disappointed with Apple over the very poor documentation and support for what is potentially an extremely valuable asset in the Mac OSX tool box i.e. being able to test Perl scripts locally using the Apache software included under OSX.
    Because it's taken me 2 days to wade through the discussions here and find resources online I want to help others avoid my delays and post what I found. I would also like to comment that the unix community active on this list though so very helpful in many ways could resist scorning those who are entirely unfamiliar with terminal and the command line interface and try to condescend to explain in layman's terms what is essentially not that complex but is so shrouded in jargon, shorthand and arcana that it seems almost deliberately difficult to penetrate. I would ask Apple to please just post a simple 'how to' or if they see fit include this email in their FAQ's.
    Thank you to the many who have posted on this subject on this list and I apologize if I have used your suggestions without personal credit. I am with this document merely giving back something of what I have taken out of this useful resource. Please feel free to offer amendments to any obvious mistakes or misunderstandings I am a novice at Unix attempting to help other novices because (Ibelieve) I still speak the same language.
    This method is for starting Perl under Tiger OS 10.4x (may work for Panther or earlier I haven't tested it) on a desktop machine, not a server.
    To start Apache under OSX
    1) To turn on Apache just go to System prefs and turn on 'personal web sharing' under the 'sharing' control panel. Note the IP address that appears under the 'Select a service...' window as this is the IP address of your local web address or 'yourlocalhostaddress' (referenced below). This is what you type into the browser to view your pages locally.
    2) It seems intuitive to place your web site in the user/yourusername/sites folder on your hard drive. While this is acceptable for basic web sites it seems to make configuration harder for Perl. I could not access a cgi-bin nor find documentation that satisfactorily informed me how to access a cgi-bin created in this location. That doesn't mean it's not possible just that I don't know how to do it.
    Apple have created another folder with a pre-configured cgi folder at the following location;
    yourharddrive/library/WebServer
    Place your website in the 'Documents' folder and your Perl scripts in the 'CGI_Executables' folder. It's unnecessarily confusing to me that Apple have essentially renamed the cgi-bin to 'CGI_Executables' and the 'html' folder to 'documents' as they would be found under the Apache installation that I'm familiar with but that seems to be what's happened here.
    To start Perl support in Apache under OSX
    3) If you dont already have one it's useful to have an ultra simple Perl script on hand to test whether your configuration is working. More complex script such as formmail.pl may have additional settings that are confusing as to whether it's the file or the configuration that is causing a script error. To create a simple script copy and paste the following code;
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    print "Content-type: text/html\r\n\r\n";
    print "Hello, World.";
    into a new, empty document in a text editor and save it as 'first.pl' in your 'CGI_Executables' folder. You can open it in Safari using the following address;
    http://yourlocalhostaddress/cgi-bin/first.pl
    4) If you test your script now a call to the Perl script will merely open the page with the script as text and will not run it. This is because Apple supplies their copy of Apache with Perl disabled, it's necessary to edit a file called 'httpd.conf' in order to turn Perl on. The recommended way to turn this file on is using the terminal program but the file can also be located through the mac OS although it is partially hidden, it can be edited in a text editor that is suitable for coding such as BBEdit.
    The best online documentation I found about how to edit the httpd.conf file using terminal is here;
    http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2001/12/14/apache_two.html?page=1
    However I'm not sure that he is accurate (though I hesitate to disagree with the expert) my experience was significantly different see below(*).
    Terminal has useful testing features but the command line is obscure and daunting to the novice. In addition UNIX programmers seem to delight in scaring away the cautious with silly, portentous warnings about privacy etc. This document is very sensitive to the way it's edited, however your computer will not blow up if you get it wrong and there is a back-up default version stored in the same folder so if you do screw up you can restore the defaults and start again.
    If you wish to do it without going through the terminal the 'httpd.conf' file is located here;
    /private/etc/httpd/httpd.conf
    where private is an invisible folder so you cant navigate to it directly via the Mac OS. However if you copy and paste the above address into Safari's address bar the folder window will come up revealing the document (this is an undocumented feature and I discovered it by accident so use at your own risk). Alternatively you can navigate to it using an FTP program such as Transmit when you have 'show hidden files' turned on in the preferences. Transmit is a very useful tool because it also allows you to view and change the permissions (or CHMOD) of the files you view in the same manner as you would on a remote server. Something which you cannot do using the 'Get Info' on the Mac OS
    You'll notice that there is an httpd.conf and an httpd.conf.default file. The latter is your backup so dont be overly scared of editing the first file, proceed with caution but not with trembling.
    Once you have the program open in BBEdit (or your editor of choice) uncomment the following lines by deleting the # symbol;
    #LoadModule perl_module libexec/httpd/libperl.so
    #AddModule mod_perl.c
    The quickest way to find these lines is to do a find on 'Perl' (something you cant do in Terminal). Dont change anything else just save and close, you will be required to enter your administrator password at this point.
    (*)Please note;
    Kevin Hemenway in the macdevcenter.com article says to uncomment the following lines;
    #LoadModule cgi_module libexec/httpd/mod_cgi.so
    #AddModule mod_cgi.c
    And makes no mention of the lines ending in perl rather than CGI. His article is from 12/14/2001 so it may be out of date. In my httpd.conf file the lines ending 'cgi' were already uncommented but the lines ending 'perl' were commented out. I uncommented the lines ending 'perl' and now in my version both (cgi and perl) are uncommented and active. There are security implications to uncommenting any lines so I may have opened a security loophole that I'm not aware of however until I uncommented the 'perl' lines my scripts did not work. I would be grateful for an explanation of the implications from any Unix expert reading this.
    5) The last thing you need to do is restart Apache so that it can load the new config file. To do this stop web sharing in the preferences pane and then restart it.
    If you test your simple Perl script 'first.pl' now it should load and show the text "Hello World" in a browser window.
    6) if you wish to load a more complex script and find that they will still not work, at least you know that Perl is working. You can check the error logs by opening the terminal and at the prompt (yourusername$) type;
    tail /var/log/httpd/error_log
    This enables you to trace the whether a permissions, configuration or other error has occurred.
    WARNING;
    The above is a distillation of my frustrating experience over the last 2 days, it details how I finally got it to work. With everything in scripting I find that I repeat the same method multiple times, convinced each time that I have it right and all of a sudden it works where it didn't work before. This always leaves me unsure that I may have inadvertently done some thing right (as logically I was obviously inadvertently doing something wrong before) that is not documented here. I offer this method as the product of my experience, because I hope it is helpful and because I have the confidence that there is a way to back out of it using the default config file. Despite the above use at your own risk.

    That sounds like a very good useful tip. I would hold on to it in your own computer's repository as well and post sections of it whenever you see someone needing help with it until you are able to add it to the contributions section of the User Tip forum here:

  • Not able to move/rename folders despite ACL settings

    I'm having a maddening issue with a Mini server running 10.6.8 (all updates installed, configuration imported from a 10.5 XServe, recently did a full reinstall of the OS due to some odd behavior and Server Admin errors/slowness).
    It is sharing a few volumes on an external drive via AFP and SMB, with relatively simple permissions configured via ACLs.  For practical purposes, users are in two groups:  Staff and Bookkeepers (I'm simplifying names, but they're not the stock system groups).  All employees are in the Staff group, a few are also in the Bookkeepers one.
    A couple of folders on one share have "deny : full control" set for the Staff group, and "allow : full control" set for the Bookkeepers group above that.  The intent is to allow bookkeepers access to the folder, and not general staff.
    This has worked as expected for years.
    Then, for no readily apparent reason, a few days ago some users lost the ability to delete folders they created within the restricted folders (other folders on the share were fine).  I spent a while going around as to why this was, eventually deciding that something was wrong with either the ACLs or the groups themselves.
    My final solution was to completely remove the ACL from the restricted folder via the command line, then delete both groups, create two new groups, NewStaff and NewBookkeepers (with new GIDs and shortnames), then re-add the correct ACL to the restricted folder, and propagate permissions down (done with Server Admin and Workgroup Manager, latest versions, running on a 10.6.8 workstation).  I also rebooted the server and cycled AFP.
    Now the problem is only slighgtly different:
    Within those restricted folders, users can create new folders, but cannot rename or move any existing or newly-created folders, although now they CAN delete either. The "Effective Permissions" browser in Server Admin shows my user as having full permissions for the folder in question to do everything, I've logged out and back on to make sure it's not a cache issue, and I've run out of ideas short of an OS reinstall.
    The command line says the Bookkeepers group has the following permissions for one of the folders within a restricted directory, which I cannot rename or move:
    inherited allow list,add_file,search,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextat tr,writeextattr,readsecurity,writesecurity,chown,file_inherit,directory_inherit
    versus this for a folder I CAN edit, outside one of the restricted folders:
    inherited allow list,add_file,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,re adextattr,writeextattr,readsecurity,writesecurity,chown,file_inherit,directory_i nherit
    ...the notable difference in there being lack of "delete" permissions on the problem directories. Which is bizarre, because that group is set to "full control", and I CAN delete it--just not move or rename. (Perhaps that's the "delete_child" of the parent directory allowing me to do that?)
    (Unix permission is: rwxrwx---   admin admin Others)
    Notably, when directly accessing the server, the Finder also suffers from this problem--if I try to move a folder, I'm prompted to enter an admin password before I'm allowed to, so the issue isn't restricted to just AFP.  I just can't figure out where the weird permission is propagating from, or how to get rid of it.
    What the heck is going on here?  Any suggestions on how I might try to fix it?  I'm about to upgrade to 10.8 Server, and if that doesn't work reformat the external RAID array, which will be a huge pain.

    This is really an OS problem as it sets permission levels for operations.   What OS?
    If using Win OS and an external drive, you can start Bridge by right clicking and choosing "run as administrator".

  • Volume control(s) will not work on my I Book please help !

    * INFO: White 2003 G4 I Book PowerPC 1.07GHz 256 MB Safari 3.2.1 133MHZ
    !!! PLEASE HELP ME !!!
    I'm going nuts here...
    This morning everything on my old 2003 white I Book was great. It was operating VERY fast and fine.
    I turned on my computer this morning, everything worked great, and I was reading things on the Net just fine.
    I then saw there was a "Software Update", two of them actually, they were a "Security Update", and also a "Java For Mac 10.4 Release 8".
    I downloaded both of them successfully through the Software Update feature.
    After doing that I restarted my computer, and everything seemed okay.
    But now the audio on my computer is gone, or messed up somehow. NO it is NOT on mute. The volume says it is on full blast, but there is no volume at all.I played YouTube videos, I tried a regular physical audio CD, I tried radio from the internet, all no sound. I tried disconnecting my speakers, I tried a full restart, I "verified preferences" and "repaired preferences", and I also put in my Tiger original disc and booted from that and ran "First Aid"... none of these have worked.
    When you click the little volume button(s) up/down from the keyboard it simply shows all volume bars to the full "all the way loud position", and a circle with the diagonal line through it just underneath that.
    I looked around in System Preferences in "Sound" and saw nothing wrong there from what I could tell.
    I have no idea what to do and am very frustrated and do NOT want to have to redo my whole computer from the very beginning again with the Tiger disc, I have already done that 3 times in the last two years.I know this must have something to do with the Software Updates I did this morning.
    Anyone ?

    Boot from the installer disk, select language if applicable, choose utilities, run Disk Utility and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can verify a drive from DU on your main drive while booted but I have found this can result in incorrect reporting of errors. To repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive anyway.
    Next, boot from your drive in [Safe Mode|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107393] and repair permissions. You can repair permissions while booted from the installer disc but this uses the permissions configuration on the installer disc which may be out of date if you have run any updates on your computer. Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and done a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.
    [Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214]
    [Using Disk Utility in Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672]
    [Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751]
    From BDaqua (couldn't have said it better):
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer (Edit: Do not use this disc if it is not the same general version as what you have currently on your computer, e.g. use a Tiger disc for a Tiger drive, not a Panther disc), then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk.
    Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes."
    Many of us do not let Software Update do updates. We download them from Apple and install them one by one, verifying the drive and repairing permissions before and after with Disk Utility, testing between each update. And, of course, backing up the drive completely before hand should something go wrong. We can then restore in a matter of minutes.

    Appreciate if someone can help us move forward in this scenario.
    We have
    1. disabled anti virus and tried.
    2. removed watermarks and action entries in the registry
    3. tried almost everything mentioned on google but i am not able to move forward.
    Please help. we need this as part of our migration to Exchange 2013 for co-existence.
    Thank you.

  • Cannot and have never been able to connect to a testing server

    Hello
    I am using Dreamweaver and am trying to set up a testing site using IIS.  I can’t get it set up.  It says I don’t have administrative privileges.  I am the administrator.  This is a home computer and I am the only user  of the computer. I am just a novice.
    I posted my problem in an Adobe forum.  I was told to enter a command in the  administrator command because I am not an administrator (this made me scratch my head???).  The following is what I was told to enter:
    icacls %systemdrive%\inetpub /grant  %userdomain%\%username%:(OI)(CI)(F) /grant %userdomain%\%username%:F
    it does not work and says there is no command for” icasis”  I am not sure what I need to enter, however.  For system drive I put “C”.  For user name I put the name of my computer. For user name I put my user name.
    This is what I ended up with and this is what I put in the administrators command prompt:
    icacls %C%\inetpub /grant  %Joe-II%\%jtb%:(OI)(CI)(F) /grant %Joe-II%\%jtb%:F
    I am sure this is wrong.
    In addition, in properties of inetpub wwwroot it says I have read and write for both administrator and iis_iusrs privilages (I set it up following a DW tutorial).
    So why can’t I set up testing server on iis? This problem has gone on for years.  I have newer versions of Adobe and operating systems and I have never been able to set up a testing server.  By the way, this is windows 8 professional.
    Any help would be much appreciated.  I would even pay someone to solve my problem but don’t know where I would go to do this.
    Joe
    << Response was:
    Hello,
    I'm sorry to hear you are having issues.
    From the information you have provided, it would appear that your issue is based somewhere in the user account permissions configuration on your PC.
    I recommend taking the following steps to ensure your user account has administrative permissions:
    Open your "Start" menu and right click on "Computer" (or "My Computer" depending on your version of Windows).
    Select "Manage".
    In the new window titled "Computer Management", select "Local Users and Groups" under "System Tools".
    Select the folder labeled "Users" and find your user account in the right panel.
    Right click on your user name and select "properties".
    Select the "Member of" tab and verify that you see "Administrators."
    If not, you can select "Add" and then type "Administrators" in the field labeled "Enter the object names to select".
    Please update us with the results once you've followed these instructions and we can troubleshoot based on that further information.
    Be sure to let us know of any error messages or pop up windows you encounter.

    My response:  I did what you asked and I am listed as an Administrator or do see Administrators there.  Thank you for your response. Hopefully you can trouble shoot from what I have replied.
    Again, this has been going on for so long.  I would even bee willing to pay to have this problem cleared up.  Again, thanks.

    Perhaps one of the hits returned on a google search "setting up iis server" will help: https://www.google.com/search?q=setting+up+iis+server&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozil la:en-US:official&client=firefox-a.
    I sympathize, as I had a lot of trouble trying to set up a localhost server on a Win8 computer. Experienced many false starts. Finally got it working to the extent I could actually work on a WP site locally, but the set up is still weird in that when I uploaded all the new files to make them live, nothing updated. Ended up making all the changes again to the live site.

  • Problem in creating a user in Identity management

    hi all
    i work on portal 7.0 and am involved in the branding of the portal.
    when i try to create an user in Identity mgt the following error message is displayed..
    ..current user has user creation permissions in th UME , but cannot create users in the backend systems(datasource).Original and possibly untranslated message was "no active writeable datasource found for usr craetion,check your permissions configuration".
    kindly help
    thanks in advance
    krishna chaitanya.

    Hi Chaitanya,
    I think you are using a LDAP or SAP system to store users. The problem is when you are defining the datasource configuration file. This might be in *read only * mode.
    You can check this by System Admin -> System Configuration -> UME Configuration ->Data Sources tab..
    You check wether you data source config file is in read only mode or not. If this file is in read only mode you cannot create users from the front end
    You need to create users from LDAP or SAP system what ever may be your back end.
    Thanks,

  • Disk Utility and Disk Repair function

    I ran the "Verify" function on the hard drive and came up with an Error, but can't figure out what to do next. The option of "Disk Repair" is grey. I found an older discussion about the specific error message - "Incorrect size for file YellowPushBtn_Pressed.tiff (It should be 0 instead of 5602)" This older discussion lead to the QuickTime application, but I was unable to local the file they talked about.
    Any ideas on how I should proceed from here?
    Thanks

    Disk Utility won't repair the drive if that drive is the one from which the computer is currently booted. The usual thing to do is boot from the installer disc. I don't know about the shift key; I thought it was holding down the C key to boot from an optical disc.
    What holding down the shift key does is boot you to safe mode which reduces the number of things running to a minimum. I have found that while you can verify a boot drive you can get errors and an analysis from safe mode reduces this likelihood.
    *General Instructions*
Booting your computer to Safe Mode restricts the number of things running on your computer while permissions are being run and does a bit of spring cleaning at the same time.

  • SahrePoint 2013 Server & Project Server 2013 - Notifications and reminders are not received by certain users

    Dears,
    We have recently implemented MS EPM 2013 where we started to face some strange behavior with the standard alerts and reminders sent from the system.
    Minor number of the users (with different levels of privileges from administrators to team members) are receiving emails and alerts normally (either when they are assigned on project schedule tasks or SharePoint list items alerts) without any issues however
    the. on the other hand the other majority number of resources are not receiving any kind of alerts from the system (neither from Project Server Nor from SharePoint).
    knowing that, all the resources/users have their emails configured properly, and their other attributes are almost the same for all users. all the emails are stored on the same exchange server.
    Anyone can help on this please.
    Appreciate your cooperation.
    Ibrahim Al-Masri Technology Manager at MethodCorp

    Thanks Dinesh,
    Actually the users have this global permissions configured for them and yet they weren't receiving emails.
    We Just could solve this puzzle, all what we needed to do is to configure the
    RBS for the majority for the users who weren't receiving emails.
    Welcome to EPM 2013 UN-unannounced changes.
