PFCG Role Upload Issue

Hi all,
we are performing an upgrade from SAP 46C to ECC 6.0 and I download one Role from PFCG (46C).
I use a sandbox system ECC 6.0 for testing PFCG Upload but I obtain the popup message:
Incorrect release; see long text
Incorrect release; see long text
Message no. S#388
Diagnosis
The system release does not match the release in which the role was saved to the file.
Main Program: SAPLSHL2

Hi,
Best approach would be copy roles from 4.6C system into a 4.6C sandbox system and then upgrade the 4.6C sandbox system into 6.0. This method will ensure a consistent conversion of the 4.6 profiles and objects to ECC 6.0.
You can run SU25 after the upgrade to update your roles to include new auth objects/field/values/transactions of ECC 6.0 and also remove 4.6 C auth objects that are no longer in use.
This approach will definitely save lot of manual effort to upload roles into new ECC6.0 system and avoid any inconsistencies/ authorization errors in the upgraded system.

I'm trying to upload a file to PFCG Role.
The file is created through report CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE.
The generated file has a format like:

In the note 389675 i found the format should be something like

When I try to load this file in the PFCG Roler I receive the following error:
"The file does not contain any valid data"
So I assume the format is giving me problems.
Any idea of what do I need to do to solve this?

Uploading PFCG Roles - BP_CRM_ROLES.ZIP

Hi all,
We are following the Building Block C04 to set up the CRM 2007 WEB UI.
According to the documentation we are supposed to upload predefined roles. These predefined roles are included in the file BP_CRM_ROLES.ZIP.
Anyone who knows from where I can download this file?

Hi Anders,
I believe that C04 describes to create Authorization Objects for the PFCG roles based on your Business Role.
E.g. Business Role: ZSALESPROFESSIONAL
PFCG role:Z_PFCG_SALESPRO (You assigned this to your Business Role. At this point PFCG role is an empty Role)
Now you can generate Authorization Objects based on your Work Centers and Navigation Bar profile defined in Business Role. To do this:
1. Execute the report CRMD_UI_ROLE_PREPARE. It will generate the txt file with the name of you Business Role in SAP Work directory. e.g. ZSALESPROFESSIONAL.txt
2. In edit mode, Under Menu in PFCG select Import from file and load this from SAP Word Directory.
3. It will generate all the required Auth. Objects .

Issues with New PFCG role

Hi Experts,
I have created a new Business role ZBP_MKT_MAN and PFCG role ZSAP_CRM_UIU_MKT_PROFESSIONAL. However the authorisations are not getting copied from SAP_CRM_UIU_MKT_PROFESSIONAL to ZSAP_CRM_UIU_MKT_PROFESSIONAL properly. Can someone guide me with the same.

Sorry type the infor incorrectly, i have creared a BP role ZBP_MKT_MAN for which i have created a PFCG role ZBP_MKT_MANAGER to the add the same to it. However, the new PFCG role ZBP_MKT_MANAGER is not getting displayed in the PFCG roles list and i am not able to add the same to the BP role ZBP_MKT_MAN. Can you plz let me know how to proceed further.

Indirect pfcg role assignment - no roles in SU01

Hi experts,
I would like to assign PFCG roles via indirect assignment, this means i would assign roles with the organisational model (transation ppomw).
I did the assignment and i executed the transaction pfud for user master data reconciliation. But the pfcg roles are not assigned to the user (see roles in transaction SU01). Usually the roles should be displayed (in blue and with xflag for indirect assignment).
Are there any customizing configurations i have to keep in mind?

ERM - MASS ROLE UPLOAD

Hi All,
when using the Mass role upload from SAP backend systems, i expect that all roles will be uploaded to the final stage in the role methodology inthe ERM and that they will be already generated.
After all, those roles already exists in the systems.
well, i see that this is not the case and i have to go through the different stages with every role.
is this indeed the system behavior or did we do somthing wrong ?

We did as you suggested but configured the approval stage in the methodology since the role is already approved and is in ECC PROD.
Now we encountered a situation where we need to update the role in ERM as part of continuos maintainance (after upload) but we don't have the authorization option to enter and change it but only the "save" and "change history" push buttons.
We changed bach the methodology to the relevant one with all the stages but still we can't maintain the uploaded role. the change in the methodology did not effect the role already uploaded.
Do you have any suggestions regarding how we can fix this issue?

Hide automatic created folder from role upload

Hi,
when I make a role upload to the portal, a top folder with the same name as the role is automatically created. Is it possible to disable this feature or hide the folder afterwards?
I have created my own folder structure in the portal, which defines the first two levels of navigation, and then made a delta link from this structure to the uploaded role. The content of the uploaded role is automatically put in a folder on third level instead of directly under the second level folder. This way the user has to click first on the role and then on the folder to get to the content. This is not very user friendly.

Have you tried changing the 'Entry Point' property within the uploaded roles ?
When you do a role upload, you have the chance to automatically create the roles as worksets (rather than portal roles). Have you tried doing this? I think you get fewer levels (from memory)
Also, is your composite (backend) role design already in place and finished? It is worth trying to consider the portal when doing the backend composite role design in order to prevent issues like this.

Role upload does not change the delta links

Hi,
We are using the Role upload functionality in the portal to upload BW roles by selecting the "Convert roles to worksets" and "Overwrite existing content" options.
The newly created workset (corresponding to the uploaded role) is then copied and pasted as a delta link in another folder.
We upload the BW role again whenever some changes are made to the original BW role (such as addition/deletion of reports).
However, these changes are not getting reflected in the delta link (although the delta link dependency still exists).
Does delta link work only for manual deletion/addition of portal content and the changes do not filter through using a role upload with overwrite?
It is definitely not working for us using the role upload functionality and It seems that overwriting content using role upload does not impact the associated delta links.
Any solution/workaround to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Arif,
Its depends on what you are changing. If you are chaging any data like accounts and document level data it will be applicable to all the users.
If you are changing some sort of configuration or signature kind of changes applicable to your user only.
As mentioned by Deepika, If you are not chaging anything which will ask for TR to save then there will not be any problem, if asking for TR means you are chaging some date which will impact other users assigned to that PFCG role.

I faced something pretty much similar and snote:: "770358 - PFCG: Role copy fails due to data inconsistency" worked perfectly for me.
Snote describes quite nicely about the root cause.
Please note this error might come up when you try to copy this role, perform pfud as wel.

Error message in the BW role upload

Hello Guys,
When I have uploaded a BW role in the portal in the following path: System administrations -> Transport -> Role Upload, the system has done the following message error: Check system configuration for alias XXXX, system: null failed to retrieve logical system idSEVERE: getObject.
However, when I have gone to the Portal Content, in the following path: SAP Portal Migrated -> SAP Component Systems -> Roles, my BW role was created and it has two folders below that are empty. The reports didnt come to portal.
I have tested the system that link the portal and the BW system, and works fine.
Can you help me please?

Hi,
Please make sure that the alias of the system is the same as the logical name of the system.
The system alias must match the logical system name of the ABAP system.

How to Change Default Iview Properties for Role Upload?

Hello,
We have many roles to upload from R/3 ABAp system to NW2004s EP.
We use the Role Upload tool in the Portal to achieve this.
It works fine, the roles are created in the portal and can be assigned to users.
The fall back is that we have to modify every single transaction iview in the portal after the upload to modify the SAP GuiType from "SAP GUI for HTML" to "SAP GUI For Windows".
How can we change the default model used of SAP GuiType for uploading transaction iviews in uploaded roles?
Also, the uploaded role is not flaged as an "Entry Point", is there a way to set this marker to "Yes" as a default value for all uploaded roles?

For defaults, right-click on the text box that is as you want it: then select menu item 'Make current properties default'
Use Ctrl-E to bring up the Properties toolbar: its content will change depending on whether you have the box or the text selected, and selecting the box or text can be a bit clunky.

Hi,
Please check the SRM system object connection in the SAP Portal. GO to system administration > system configuration > system landscape and search for SRM system object and test the connection. If connection test successful then try to upload the roles.

I am new to CRM 7.0 Can someone explain What is a Business Role in CRM 7.0 and what is the relationship between Business role and PFCG role. What is the transaction Code to create a Business role.
And also I heard that there is no PCUI in CRM 7.0. Is it true and if so what is used in place of the PCUI

BAPI or Function Module to change PFCG role of an User from Background

Hello Experts,
I have a requirement to change PFCG role assigned in User from background and I need a BAPI , FM or any other method to do the same, I have gone through BAPI_BUPA_ROLE_REMOVE and BAPI_BUPA_ROLE_ADD_2 but as per my understanding , these are related to business role not PFCG.
