We are installing ECC5 on IA64 using Oracle 9207.
At phase 'Create database' the sapinst aborts reporting errors executing the oradim -NEW SID command.
The oradim.log contains one row only : "DIM-00019: error creating service".
The OracleServiceSID is created, but it does not start.
If we try to run manually the command "Oracle.exe SID", so the same command that is started by the OracleServiceSID service a popup appear saying:
"The entry point kdr9ir2_pop could not be located in the dynamic link library oracle oracommon9.dll"
Any idea ? Are there problems with the oracle 920 sw installation or what ?
regardsHi,
Sounds like oracle problem.
- Please post the last few error statement from sapinst_dev.log.
- Check if the the following key is in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\OracleService
- check oracle alert<SID>.log, see if there is any significant errors.
- see note #602843
- if "DIM-00019: error creating service", does it mean that an Oracle service with the same SID already exist? if so, use command "sc delete [service name]" to delete the service and then restart the installation.
Hope this helps.
cheers,

Unable to create database error
Hello all-
I've been working on a project in Robohelp7/HTML for about a
week. I come in today and try to open my project and receive the
error "Unable to create database. Check that the directory is not
read-only.". I've done the obvious of checking the folders and
files within and they are not marked read only. When I create a new
project, I receive the same error. I'm stuck at a standstill and
can't figure out why Robohelp has decided to deny me access to my
project or the ability to create new ones. I went so far as to
uninstall and reinstall, to no avail.
Has anyone encountered this? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
ThanksThere is a topic on Opening RoboHelp Projects on my site. Rh allows you to browse to either an XPJ or HHP file but that is only as good as the last time you generated an output.
When you open with an HHP you get an option to use the XPJ or not, in which case one is created. Either way there should be an XPJ. Not sure how you have lost it.
Backup?

Oracle 10g Help?Create database error
I am unable to run a script createDB having command create database kmaa.I open up SQL*Plus, connect and login without any trouble as well. When I try to create a database I get the following:
SQL> CREATE DATABASE kmaa;
CREATE DATABASE kmaa
Error at line 1:
ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
ORA-01100:database already mounted
Any idea?Hi Pete,
Oracle Express Edition creates a database automatically when you install it and the product is limited to one database instance per machine. Perhaps you are confusing users/schemas with what you may term a database. An Oracle database instance can be broken down into logical units called users or schemas. If you wish to create a database of books, you should create a user called books and then log on as this user and create your database objects. To make things simpler, Oracle XE comes with a browser interface based on Application Express. You can use this to create schemas, database objects and applications (forms reports etc) to access and manage those objects. Further to this you should RTFM.

This is because you need to do a little bit more then you just did. This is what I used on my local machine (OS X) for my database area51, the script was created by the DBCA. As you can see I point to a pfile before I create the database. In this init.ora file, the db_name has been set (among a lot of other stuff). Therefore I gave you the hint to look into the documentation ;)

SAPinst error during phase Create DB statistics (sapcheck)
Hello all,
I am currently installing an SAP ERP 6.0 EhP4/NW7.01 Java system when I enncountered this error during the phase Create Database Statistics.

I've checked this directory and I did not find the folder sapcheck. that is because my sapcheck is located in a different drive (E:). why is sapinst looking at the wrong directory and how can i point sapinst to use drive E instead?
i was thinking maybe i could copy the folder sapcheck from drive E to drive d and continue with the installion. what will be its impact if i do this?
by the way, my OS is windows 2003.
please advise.
thank you very much!

It seems that while defining the Path of SAP and Oracle there is something wrong that's the reason it is looking somewhere else. If you will copy from E Drive installation will continue but it will be keep searching on D drive everytime. As you are on initial stage to install a new System i would suggest to stop the installation Master and start it from Scratch and define the FIle System Directly once again as you want.

Error while creating database in classic appln
Hi All,
I am getting this error while creating database in classic application.
com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Failed to create database, error code [%s] (1013221).
Can anyone please let me know why I am getting it?
Thanks in advanceCan you check for a more specific error code in the Application log? There can be various reasons for this:
1. For data storage and binary installation, Essbase supports the use of any disk array device mounted with a local file system interface (for example, NTFS, HPFS, JFS, VxFS, and UFS). A disk array mounted using NFS or CIFS is not supported.Use any disk array device mounted with a local file system interface (for example, NTFS, HPFS, JFS, VxFS, and UFS).
2. Error occurs when deploy Planning application with double byte enabled. When the plan name is changed to English, deploy will be successful. This issue can be fixed by setting Correct Essbase ESSLANG system value.
3. The Essbase User that creates the application and DB folders has default ACL rw-rw-rw which does not allow the essbase app to create files inside the folder.

With Regards,
Rahul Bibekar> During input phase only sapint will check for Oracle software if I am not wrong.
If you do the installation properly you
- start sapinst (first!)
- you continue with the installation until sapinst stops and request you to start the database software installation
- then you install the Oracle software with the given script (RUNINSTALLER)
- you apply the patches (10.2.0.2 or 10.2.0.4)
- you patch the OPatch tool
- you apply the all interim patches (on Unix using MOPatch)
- and you THEN press on OK to continue.
> If it not able to find Oracle software, it will give popup saying
>
> Oracle not found, Install oracle and Press OK to continue
If that message appears you did not follow the installation guide.
Most installation problems (environment variables, listener, sql scripts, R3load etc.) come because people tend to install the database before they start sapinst - which is wrong if you install a SAP system.
I have done many many installations on various platforms and I never got the error message that "Oracle is not installed".

By providing 113246208 bytes (as in default case) of
memory to SGA by setting sga_target value, Oracle gave
extra memory to shared_pool and buffer cache than in case
of default, thus helping create database statement to get
pass. Oracle always recommends to use automatic shared
memory management by setting sga_target parameter value.
Hope this experiment provides few clues about automatic
shared memory management feature of Oracle 10g. This case
was conducted on 32-bit Oracle. It is quite possible that
create database statement might get success in 64-bit
Platform as by default Oracle will provide 84 Mb to Shared
pool. But to confirm, it has to be experimented.

I have successfully installed ASCS,SCS, and configured 1st MSCS node.
While installaing DB instance on 1st node SAPINST did not allow the physical host name of the node and gave the error oracle was not installed, install oracle before continuing so went ahead with the virtual hostname.I had faced oracle connectivity issues during import ABAP ,I changed the added the physical host name in listener.ora and continued. But durig the import java dump phase I guess the physical host name in expected in secure store key file.I can't edit the secure store file as config tool is not installed yet in the system. Please suggest me solutions and guide me whether I am going in the right direction.

Dinakar

The SAPINST should allow the physical host name to get chosen you should not get this error.
You have to first install the oracle DB and after that Oracle failsafe at both nodes ( not in parallel) . Further while doing the DB instance installation on first node the SAPCLUSTER and ORACLECLUSTER should be online.
Can you mark the steps you did in sequence.

Dinesh.Hello,
<b>FCO-00011 The step CreateDatabase with step key |NW_Onehost|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_Onehost_System|ind|ind|ind|ind|1|0|NW_CreateDBandLoad|ind|ind|ind|ind|9|0|NW_CreateDB|ind|ind|ind|ind|0|0|NW_MSS_DB|ind|ind|ind|ind|2|0|MssSchemaCreate|ind|ind|ind|ind|9|0|CreateDatabase was executed with status ERROR.</b>
This Error occurs because the <b><SID>DATA1,<SID>DATA2,<SID>DATA3,<SID>DATA<X></b> and <b><SID>LOG1,<SID>DATA<x></b> are already containing the .mdf,.ndf and .ldf files.
So rename those directories to someother(Do not delete, just rename, as it might be used to attach the database incase you have detached it) and just create the above directories "<b><SID>DATA1,<SID>DATA2,<SID>DATA3,<SID>DATA<X></b> and <b><SID>LOG1,<SID>DATA<x></b>".
This should solve the problem.
Any questions, do post it back, will try to resolve it.
Many Thanks.

This is a fall back and punt question. My organization develops desktop (Swing) Java apps. To deploy, we have an install program that first runs the JRE install that you download from Sun's web site, then we copy our own jars and data files and so on
