  • BDB support for Windows Vista, WIndows 7 and Windows Server?

    Hello,
I examine to use BDB on Windows, and I have a question.
    There's a description about supported OSs on the BDB reference guide as follows;
    Where does Berkeley DB run?
The Berkeley DB distribution includes support for Windows/95, Windows/98, Windows/NT, Windows/2000 and Windows/XP, via the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and .NET development environments.
Does BDB distribution supports for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003?
And it will support Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7?
I believe that BDB does not depend on specific function of Windows, thus there's no problem to support them...
    Regards,
    Akira

Yes, we have a plan about BDB support for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server. Once we are ready, we'll let you know here.
    Hi Vit,
For Berkeley DB XML questions, please go to the Berkeley DB XML forum at: Berkeley DB XML
By the way, I learnt there's a XP-compatible mode in Windows 7. You may want to try DB-XML with that.
    Best regards,

  • Quicktime support for Windows Vista  64 bit OS

Are there plans to support the Windows Vista 64 bit operationg system?

Yes, I also got the instruction from the installer to "use the 64-bit installer", but there doesn't seem to be one. APPLE - ARE YOU LISTENING HERE? Strange that your installer gives seemingly impossible instruction.

  • Installing "Update for Windows Vista (KB936824)" Problems

If anyone can help me out with this, I'd be so grateful.
Last week I installed 7.3 on my computer without a problem. It worked great, until last night, when I got a popup saying that I needed to install a plugin type thing for my Vista computer so my iPod wouldn't crash if I unplugged it. Okay, fine. I follow the instructions, restarted the system and then went back into iTunes. Only it wouldn't play any music.
The program itself isn't frozen, I can access menus, help, etc. just fine. When I go to play a song, it just stays at 0.00. It's not my soundcard as sound works fine in other programs, so it's just itunes. I even ejected my iPod and the iPod seems to be okay.
I uninstalled the plugin, recent Windows updates, and iTunes 7.3 and installed 7.2 instead and the same thing happens. So what did I do wrong?

Nicely done! I hadn't thought to check how that control panel was working in Vista yet. (Sorry about that.)
However, when I shut down all iTunes related programs (Quicktime included) and restarted, it worked!
Shutting down QuickTime may have been the trick here. It handles audio playback for itunes, so the changes you made might not have been registering for QuickTime until it restarted QuickTime. (QuickTime can be a bit like that on XP at least.)

  • Bluetooth support for Windows Vista

Since pairing my Curve 8900 with my Windows Vista laptop I have two "Bluetooth Peripheral Devices" in Device Manager that report the status "This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."
I have inserted the Blackberry CD in the drive when loading Windows and allows the OS to search the internet for the drivers to no result. The location of the devices are on the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator.
    Any thoughts please?

  • Windows Vista install problem

I own a copy of Windows XP from Virtual PC. I therefore qualify to purchase an upgrade copy of Vista, which I did. Since I am a Mac person I assumed that I would simply be asked, upon installation, to provide my old product ID. In the Microsoft world this does not happen. The install disc looks for the previous version. When it can't find one the install essentially stops. I was able to install Vista by ignoring the request for the product ID but then I could not Activate the copy. It works fine but it will cease to work in 30 days. Has anyone had experience with this type of thing? There should be some way around this type of thing. Reading Microsoft user posts it appears that clean installs can only be done from non-upgrade copies. I cannot install my copy of xp first since it does not have SP2 as part of it. I know that I can theoretically slipstream a copy but that seems like a lot of hassle.

    Hi,
Thanks for posting your solution. I had everything working beautifully in Boot Camp partition using VMware Fusion, but felt I needed VM's future tech support. In forum discussion and email support w/VM tech supp. learned that VM doesn't support Vista Home because MS doesn't support it through 3rd party, so I used Home's upgrade advisor and found that the only easly instll was upgrading to Ultimate. Tried to install Ultimate upgrade and got message that partition was too small. Long story short, had to erase Macbk Pro's HD and reinstall from Time Machine, which worked great. Boot Camp finally allowed new partition and I used your solution to install. However, I had to load the Home because Boot Camp couldn't find drivers on the Ultimate upgrade. Still, your work around helped. Problems I'm now encountering is that VM can't find the Boot Camp Partition as it did previously. Any ideas there? I can find the Boot Camp drive, but the "open" button stays grayed out. When I go to VM's HD it says 0 GG which doesn't make sense. I'll post a new topic, but I did appreciate your posting.

  • Intel Chipset Support for Windows 7 fails to install

When I tried to manually install Intel Chipset Support for Windows 7, Vista and XP (oss907ww, Version: 9.1.1.1016, Release Date: 2009/10/02, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-73684) on my W700 with Windows 7 x64, I got the following error message:
"This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will now exit."
The newly released System Update 4.0 also fails to install this version of Intel Chipset Support. However, the previous version, Intel Chipset Support for Windows Vista, XP and 2000 (oss803ww, Version: 8.7.0.1007, Release Date: 2008/08/20, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70315) installs and works fine on my current system. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi,
I have a problem installing the above mentioned chipset driver for win7. TVSU can't install it, and when I do it manually, it gives me a message saying (translated - original message was annoyingly in chinese) "This system does not meet the lowest requirements of the software. The installation will end now."
I tried downloading it from lenovo's website, but it didn't work either, giving me the same message. The version of this driver is 9.1.1.1016 (according to TVSU).
Anyone have any ideas on what on earth is wrong?
    Thank you all!

  • Problem installing Service pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit from windows update

I have been trying to install Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista Home (32 bits) through Windows Update many times. The Update panel shows Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available. I install the update, which by the way, just takes me few minutes curiouslly. The "update succesfully installed" message with the green circle checked on appears. But then, when I check my computer properties, the Service Pack 1 is not there and Windows Updated keeps showing again and again the update for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available and that needs to be installed. I don't know what else to do, can you help me please.

    Hi:
Try downloading and installing the standalone SP1 file.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
If you get it to install that way, go straight to SP2 with the standalone download.

Trying to install Acrobate 8 Standard on PC with Windows 7, 64 bit. During the installation I was asked to provide "File Adobe PDF.dll for Windows Vista. How can I obtain the required file?

Nothing in the Acrobat 8.x product family is compatible with Windows 7 (or any contemporary OS).
The Acrobat 8.x product family passed into End of Support way back -- (November 2011).
The current release of Acrobat (XI) is compatible in Windows 7.

    All,
A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.
So happy to be done w/this one!
Thx everyone. Any additional input on what solved it is welcome, so my curiosity is quelled...

  • Officially supported JRE for Windows Vista

    Hi,
Please let me know the officially supported JRE/JDK version for Windows Vista. Does JDK1.4.2 _XX supports Windows Vista?
    Regards,
    Raj

I think the real question is does ANYTHING workon
Vista?Well, my java code works fine on Vista, as an
application, and as an applet, developed using
    eclipse, also running on Vista.
So clearly, SOMETHING does run on Vista, and works
very nicely thank you!Wow, you should call Microsoft. I'm sure they offer a
prize for the first app to run on Vista. Sorry, I'm
being cynical today. Anyway, every person I know
that's upgraded to Vista is real, real sorry.
Existing software and hardware no longer working is
the biggest problem.Yeah, today I was on Microsoft's side, but that is not the normal 'me'!
However, Vista does look gr8, and if you only run 1. my app (www.j2e.com), 2. Eclipse, and 3. browsers, Vista doesn't seem to break!

  • Help Center for Windows Vista 2.00h 7kth12ww.exe doesn't install correctly Help!!

I have been trying to install 7kth12ww.exe on a fresh copy of Vista x64. I have selected all the default options, and the installation says it has completed. Yet when I launch "Help Center for Windows Vista" I see, >this<. Now this has been up long enough that I would think others are seeing it as well, yet I seem to be the only one with the problem. Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong?
