Photo date won't change to what I enter

I've been going through the tedious process of changing dates on photos I've imported (thanks, Apple, for taking away the editable date field that made this a snap in iPhoto '09). Mostly it's working fine. Except for one photo--every time I try to change the date, iPhoto sets it to a completely different date, always earlier than what I want. So now I'm in the year 1398. It does this whether or not I have the "adjust original file" checked. What's really bizarre is that if I change the date by a couple of years, it works, but if I try to jump more than 10 or 20 years, it jumps back in time.
Am I crazy???

I can't even get iPhoto 11 to let me change the date! Apparently when I "upgraded" to 11 from 09, it not only lost photos and photo books (don't get me started on that), but it also assigned arbitrary dates to a LOT of photos that I had scanned in. And when I try clicking on the date to change it, it won't allow it. GRRRRRR!!!!!
So please, if you know how to change the date, please, please share it with me......thanks!
I DETEST iPhoto 11!!!

    Mail Version 3.0 (912.1/912)

Another bug: The "No Date" option doesn't work properly. I have a smart mailbox set up to show all items dated plus/minus a year from now (i.e. all dated items) and four undated items showed up in the list. Selecting "no date" didn't work, so what I had to do was use the "other" option to set a date a couple of years back then go to iCal to set the items to "no date". That cleared them from the smart mailbox in Mail.

  • IMovie 11  adjusting photo duration - won't change, various times showing!

H E L P!!!! I have just installed Imovie 11. I am in the finishing stages of a project which HAS TO BE COMPLETED in the next 2 days. I am having grief adjusting the duration for my still photos. I click on the COG - Clip adjustments - change the timing to 08:00 and tick the APPLIES TO ALL STILLS box. The clip won't change and some of them show 12s, some 10s ect. HOW DO I CHANGE THIS?? WHY IS IT SUCH A DRAMA??? I WANT MY STILLS to show for eight seconds only. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME???? THANK YOU

Many people have posted on this issue, including myself. I've spent a lot of hours on problem, and have come up with a solution that allows me to vary both the image duration and the transition duration in my movies.
Here's my process that I have posted before and that I still use:
-> Knowing that (a) I want most of the photos to be visible for 5 seconds and most transitions for 2 seconds and (b) that a transition takes half from the photo before and half from the photo after, under File>Project Properties>Photo Duration I chose 7 seconds - each photo will 'lose' a total of 2 seconds from the transitions in front and behind. I did not check either "Applies to all transitions." or "Applies to all photos." - See below for why.
-> I discovered that all the photos have to go in before I add any transitions. This was new to me. With all previous versions of iMovie I simply added a photo then a transition then another photo one at a time. I had to fiddle with the timing adjustments, but at least I could fiddle. With this new version of iMovie I can't. Once the transition is in place, I cannot change the duration of the photo.
-> Sometimes, I want a longer or shorter duration for a photo. For example, on photos to which I apply the Ken Burns effect, I often want the image on the screen for a slightly longer time. In this case, I have to use the inspector to change the duration before I add the transitions. So I might set the time for 8 seconds; when a two second transition is added before and after, the time for this photo becomes 6 seconds, which is what I want.
-> The same applies if I want a transition to be shorter or longer than 2 seconds. If, for example, I want the duration for a transition to be 1 second, then I have to change the duration on the two linked photos to 5 1/2 seconds.
Right now, I working with batches of 5 or 6 photos at a time. I don't put a transition on the last photo in the batch until I have added the next group of photos. And things get really tricky if I don't like my original design. If I want to change anything, I have to take out all of the transitions linking the photos I want to work on, do the math, make the changes in the photo durations, then put the transitions back.
All of this requires much more prior planning than I am used to with iMovie. I hope it helps those of you who are struggling with this problem.

  • Photo date creation being changed

    Hello,
I didn't know where to post this question. When I import photos from my Canon T3i and my iPhone4, the creation date of the photo is the date imported, not the date I took the photo. While in Finder, if I look at the photo information, the creation date is the date the photo was imported (for both the Canon and iPhone photos). I'm trying to understand why this is happening.  When I import the photos into iPhoto, the date I took the photo is there. While that seems like the solution, it isn't since I don't import all photos into iPhoto. If I look at the photos on the memory card, the date is correct. The only time the creation date is not correct is when I import on to my iMac or MacBook.
I'm using Snow Leopard and have no plans to upgrade to Lion.
Thanks for your help and I apologize if I posted this question in the wrong discussion group.

can you try importing them image capture then save to your desktop?
in iphoto, it will create tumbnail which will be the time of import. can you do an export of a photo from iphoto and select original then check the time.

  • Changed photo dates--how to fix

I bought a Mac and transferred all files. Now all of the photo dates have been changed to the date I transferred the files! Some of them shot on an actual camera came out OK, but almost all of them that had originally be shot on a cellphone had the dates changed.
Any ideas on how to correct or has Mac just screwed me. I can't backtrack all the dates.

Details help - what version of iPhoto - of the OS?
In any case the Mac has not "screwed" you - obviously for the photos that were properly formed everything is ok -
Some of them shot on an actual camera came out OK,
iPhoto (like all capable photo managers) gets the dates from the EXIF data put into the photo by the camera and if the phone is properly storing photo by the phone
You can correct dates using the Batch change date time command if the EXIF data is nonexistent and using the adjust change date/time command if the EXIF data is wrong (like a camera being set incorrectly)

When I try to email photos from iPhoto I get this message: The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination. It won't let me change it, what do I do?

Can you send email ok via the Apple Mail application?
The username and password are set in the Accounts section of the Mail application. Start Mail, select preferences and select Accounts. Then make absolutely sure that the username, password and outgoing mail server are entered correctly.

Computer is balky random freezes across apps. Two hard drive cleans later (their scan reveals no hard drive problems) photo shop won't work at all, magic touch mouse inoperable and their diagnoses is corrupted data? Anybody heard of this?

Well, yes, data does get corrupted sometimes.
The trick is finding what data.
By 'cleaned' are you therefor meaning that the drive has been erased and the system re-installed?
Because that's the quickest way to deal with such a situation.
Back up the system first of course,
Add back 3rd party apps one at a time in case one of them is causing the problem.

Has anyone had this issue or know of a fix?
    Thanks

    Try this
Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart (no data will be lost).
Using the phone while charging doesn't create a problem.. I do it all the time

  • What's The Point of Miana With Scanned Photo Dates?...

So I had the issue of scanning paper photos to digital images and importing them into iPhoto (and changing the dates from when the photos were scanned to when the photos were actually taken) that I'm sure many people have had. Now I've heard it suggested before to use a program called Miana (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26900) to put photos in an entire folder and with the program you can set the contents of the entire folder to have been created at a date that you specifiy (i.e. when photos were taken). After doing this you could import the files into iPhoto and have the dates be acurate. But of course, you can change the date of the photos and even the film roles in iPhoto so they can be correct. So why do this? Just to have the files creation date be the same as when it was taken? But I noticed in iPhoto's library system when you import... you are making another copy of the photos into the libarary system, so the creation date is always going to be wrong. So what is then the point of using Miana? I don't really mind this but lets say one day I want to switch back to windows. How can I backup my photos and keep the proper dates of when photos were actually taken? If your being a good computer using and backup often, creation dates are always changing, no? Any thoughts?

    brianzk1:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Even though iPhoto copies the file into its library the created (or modified date if it's later than the created date) is used. Making a duplicate copy of an existing file does not change those dates as you're only making a bit by bit copy. Copying a file to another HD does not change those dates either.
One way to keep the dates straight is to rename them with the date. I use the international date format, YYYY-MM-DD-01.jpg, like this. I've started lately adding a brief description to the files after the date like this.
You can use R-Name to batch rename them before importing into iPhoto. It provides excellent chronological sorting and searching.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

I am trying to copy songs to an sd card for a digital photo frame. I changed my settings in iTunes to mp3 format before I downloaded them but it did not work. What am I doing wrong? When I play the sd card in my mac or on a lenovo laptop it works but not in the photo frame. I would be grateful for any ideas as to what I am doing wrong.

Unfortunately you've discovered too late how important it is to maintain an up-to-date backup of your iTunes library (and all other data of value).  You could, before wiping the drive, have considered making use of a commercial data recovery service that could (albeit at considerable cost) have extracted your library from the hard disk, even if virus infected.
In the absence of that option, you will need to restore the content of your library from its original sources:
Depending on your location, you may be able to re-download any iTunes Store purchases that are still available on the Store
Likewise, most digital purchases from Amazon (including auto-rip copies of purchased CDs) should be available from the Amazon Cloud and via the Amazon Music application - the same may be true of other commercial sources for digital downloads
Content imported from your CDs will have to imported again
The specific situation that you describe regarding the music imported from your friend's external HDD suggests that either the source is badly organized and/or originates from a source other than iTunes (other media players may use alternative tags for information like artist, title, album, etc. that are not wholly consistent with how iTunes handle these).  Without details of the issues you're seeing it is difficult to suggest a remedy other than going through the media album-by-album, track-by-track, and correcting the inconsistencies.
In the absence of a backup or access to the original library data there is no option other than painstakingly recreating your library as described above.  As you do so, you'll now realize how important creating and maintaining backups are - in my case I have at all times three separate duplicates of my library, in two different locations, where none is ever more than a week old compared to the content of my master library.

  • TS4009 I received an email from apple stating my icloud storage was almost full. I deleted apps and photos and the storage has not changed, so what am I supposed to do?

I received an email from apple stating my icloud storage was almost full. I deleted apps and photos and the storage has not changed, so what am I supposed to do?

...  I clicked on it (I know I am not supposed to do this - I won't ever do it again) and no window opened up.
You're right - it is never a good idea to click on links sent in an email unless you are absolutely certain they are legitimate, and that is only becoming more difficult as spammers and phishing attempts are getting better every day. Having no association with Verizon is all the more reason to simply delete the thing.
Next, by supplying your email address all you did was confirm to whatever site was sending you this spam that your email address was legitimate. Again, when in doubt just delete the email and forget you ever saw it.
...  How can I check to see if my computer has been hacked and how can I protect it further.
The good news is that is highly unlikely. The bad news is that your email address might be used as the "from" address for spam sent to others, and that you are only more likely to get more spam from the phony Verizon site as well as every other potentially malicious operators.
The best advice would be to simply abandon that email address, but if you can live with the previous potential concerns it would be overkill. I would recommend changing your passwords for financial institutions (banks, credit cards and so forth) as well as your email account or accounts. That is simply good practice whether or not you did what you did.
As far as any malware is concerned, again that is unlikely, but make sure you run Software Update to get all Apple's latest updates.

  • Is there a way of changing photos' dates all at once?

    Hi,
I imported a number of photos taken within one week into iPhoto - some of them were assigned a wrong date by my camera which made the last photos the first ones in the folder.
I know I can change the photos' dates manually one by one, but is there any workaround to select multiple photos and change their dates simultaniously? I couldn't find any automator action...anybody who knows a hint?
    Thanks
