Photos are fuzzy

my photos look good on the ipad but low resolution when printed or shared. how can i change the setting to take more high resolution pictures?

AFAIK..
What size/resolution are the photos?
I have (as of now) 6100 pics on my iPad. They are great and sharp except for some taken by cheap..er...less expensive camera's. Matter of fact, most of mine were taken on a Canon 5D and it took HOURS for iTunes to optimize them for the iPad because they were VERY LARGE files (lot's of RAW files). A 2 megapixel phone grab or a low-resolution camera pic will 'look' good on an iPod Touch. When you blow that pic up 4x for the iPad screen size you can get artifacts (jaggies and fuzz). Easy way to tell is to pull up the picture on your computer and check it. So far, of the 4 amateur photogs who got iPads with me, we have been blown away by the IPS screen. Sharp and color saturation is UNBELIEVABLE in a portable device. If you really feel somethings wrong, burn the 'full size' .jpeg file to a CD and head to the Apple store (might want to make an appointment..they're busy). They will pull it up on a desktop and see what's up.
Also, the .jpeg format does have some drawbacks...depending on your compression you can actually be generating artifacts into a perfectly good picture.

  • Photos are fuzzy after I burn DVD

My photos look fine in iPhoto and the iDVD preview prior to burning, but when I looked at the final product all the photos were fuzzy ... out of focus.
This is the first time I've created a project in iDVD. What did I do wrong?
    Thanks.

  • IPhoto photos are fuzzy

I've just switched from an iPod Touch to a new iPad and want to sync some of the photos that I have in iPhoto. These photos looked OK on the Touch, but now it looks as though iTunes is not sizing them to the proper resolution when transferring them to the iPad.
I thought that iPhoto and iTunes worked together to "fix" the images for downloading to the iPad, but it doesn't seem to be working for these photos. What do I need to do? Delete the albums? Re-import the photos into iPhoto?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Photos are blurred/fuzzy after transferring them from iPhoneto my computer

I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.  I have the new iPhone 4s and when I transferred my photos from the iPhone to my PC the picture quality was worse once I transferred them.  They are bright and clear on my iphone, but once I transfer them they are fuzzy and muted.  Is there a way to fix this.  I have tried emailing myself and transfering them using an app as well and each time they come out blurred and not nearly as vibrant as they are on my phone.

yes come to think of it quite a lot of them are purchased music tracks. how would I authorise them to copy onto my ipod from my library. Sorry its probably really obvious but I'm not great with computers.
    Thanks

  • Photos from iPhoto are fuzzy after publishing in iWeb

    Hi,
I am using iphoto and made a photo page to use in iweb. In iweb all the photo thumbnails look fine. When I published them to my .mac site all the thumbnails still look fine. However, when I click on the photo to see the larger version, in 40% of the cases the photos look fuzzy.
These fuzzy photos are not fuzzy in iphoto and I do not see any difference between these photos and others that show up fine in iweb.
I also tried creating a photo page with just a few of the photos that show up fuzzy on the original photo page I made and they are still fuzzy, suggesting to me that there is something wrong with the original photo file. However, as I said these photos look great in iphoto. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    William
    Powerbook G4 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hello William...
I think the problem may be in the way iWeb resizes your photos for the slideshow/larger version. For the photo template, all of your photos are resized to 800x600 by iWeb....the problem is that you don't get any control over the amount of jpeg compression used or method of rescaling. Not all photos will look great at the same jpeg compression level and with the same rescaling method.
If you have some other graphics program that has these options, it really pays to take control of the jpeg compression aspect at the very least. I use a program called "Downsize" and also I use "Photoshop" sometimes. There are lots of other programs you can use, I'm sure. But basically, it will probably improve your images if you size them down to 800x600 yourself with one of these programs and then import them into iWeb.

  • Why are imported photos so fuzzy?

Photos that were crystal clear on my 3S are fuzzy on my 4S. All imported from my IMAC. Why do you suppose that is?

I guess you mean iPhone 3GS when you say "3S".
The iPhone 4S has a whole lot better, clearer display than the 3GS did.  So I would expect a mediocre resolution photo that showed up OK on a 3GS might deteriorate a bit regarding how it looks on a 4S.

  • Pictures in Preview mode are fuzzy

    Hello:
When I switch from "normal" mode to "preview" mode, the pictures loose a bit of their sharpness and could be considered to be fuzzy. They return to normal when I exit out of preview mode. Is this normal?
    Thanks,
    Dex

I'm seeing this too and am wondering what the deal is? I mean, It seems to defeat the purpose of being able to go through your photos quickly if preview is rendering the photos in an unclear manner...how can you possibly know which photos are truly out of focus if it's the preview mode causing it to just appear out of focus? Perhaps there is a setting that can be adjusted? I don't use the preview mode because I need an accurate representation of my shots.

  • PICTURES ARE FUZZY WHEN IMPORTED TO DVD DISC

I'm new to creating dvds.  Pictures are fuzzy when imported to dvd disc ( memorex DVD-R).  What am i doing wrong?

    Hi
Hard to say as You don't suply any info on
    • What photo file format, size You use
    • How You go from photo to iDVD
And ! - Please do not Yell ! - Capitalized letters = Yelling in most forums and here a low and polite conversation most often will get better and more rapid results.
    Some thoughts about DVD Quality
    • DVD can only be SD-Video what ever tool used to encode it. And that is much less than what Your Mac screen can show.
    • Tools used to create the SlideShow - give a very different (quality) result
iMovie'08 to 11 - discard every second line = less resolution
iMovie HD6 and FinalCut - full interlaced video over to iDVD (as good as it can be)
FotoMagico™ _ Great and even more so if result is burned as a Blu-Ray Disk
Some notes follows - if You are of interest.
    DVD quality
    1. iDVD 08, 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities. (version 7.0.1, 7,0.4 & 7.1.1)
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus  less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    About double on DL DVDs.
    2. Video from
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not self-containing, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly eg x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09  this can also be set)
This can also be done with Apple’s Disk Utilities application.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc).
    5. I use Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. I use DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVD at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while before next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
    • DVD is a standard in it self. It is Standard Definition Quality = Same as on old CRT-TV sets and can not
    deliver anything better that this.
HD-DVD was a short-lived standard and it was only a few Toshiba DVD-players that could playback.
These DVDs could be made in DVD-Studio Pro. But they don’t playback on any other standard DVD-layer.
Blu-Ray / BD can be coded onto DVDs but limited in time to - about 20-30 minutes and then need
    _ Roxio Toast™ 10 Pro incl. BD-component
_ BD disks and burner if full length movies are to be stored
_ BD-Player or PlayStation3 - to be able to playback
The BD-encoded DVDs can be play-backed IF Mac also have Roxio DVD-player tool. Not on any standard Mac or DVD-player
Full BD-disks needs a BD-player (in Mac) as they need blue-laser to be read. No red-laser can do this.
    • HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx. 25Gb.
less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.
    • How it was recorded - Tripod vs Handheld Camera. A stable picture will give a much higher quality
    • Audio is most often more critical than picture. Bad audio and with dropouts usually results in a non-viewed movie.
    • Use of Video-editor. iMovie’08 or 09 or 11 are not the tools for DVD-production. They discard every second line resulting in a close to VHS-tape quality.
iMovie 1 to HD6 and FinalCut any version delivers same quality as Camera record in = 100% to iDVD
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JES_Deinterlacer_3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are play-backed by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choice before Pro Quality)
    Yours Bengt W

  • Imported iphotos are fuzzy???

i just got my wife a new macbook pro. I copied all her i photos to an external hard drive and then loaded them onto the new Macbook pro. Seemed everything worked like a charm until we went to view some older photos. The resolution on the photos i imported is very poor but were crystal clear on her previous laptop. Seems that when i imported the photos it resized everything to a much smaller photo so when i go to view them at a normal size the photos are very fuzzy. Any idea how t fix this??

Were the previous photos in iPhoto on the laptop? What did you copy the external drive? The iPhoto Library or did you export them?
How did you load them onto the new MacBook Pro? Did you move the iPhoto library to the Pictures folder on the MBP and launch iPhoto (the correct way) or did you import the old iPhoto Library -- or something else?
Do you still have the original photos (or the original iPhoto Library?)
Give us some more information and hopefully we can assist you.
If you have the old iPhoto library do the following:
1- quit iPhoto on the MBP
2 - drag the iPhoto library from the Pictures folder on the MBP to the desktop
3 - copy the iPhoto library from the laptop to the pictures folder
    4 - Start iPhoto
It will read your iPhoto library and upgrade it if required and you should be fine. Once you are pleased with the results you can delete the iPhoto library that you drug to the desktop of the MBP

After migrating data from Time Machine, some of my photos are not showing up in iPhoto LIbrary view. I get a 'dashed rectangle." When I click on it I get ' ! in a Triangle" When I click on that, I actually can see the photo. I want to see all  my photos in 'Library' view, and I can't figure out how these photos seem to be arbitrarily hidden. Help, please.

  • The latest answer from you to me is that my photos are safe and that I should look in a default folder. I have tried to do this but cannot find it.  How do I find the default folder.

I received your emai stating that my photos are safe and are present in the folder on your computer that you specified when importing them. If you used Photoshop Album Starter Edition to import your files from the camera without changing the default folder, look in this folder.  I have tried looking in the default folder and there is nothing there to help. Some of these photos were scanned in from my Cannon Printer.  Surely if Adobe are requesting me to register and telling me they will send me a code no. that is all that needs to be done.

I'm interested in upgrading my Elements 10 to????
    Your advise please?
I'm so sorry, but in today's world, the support of low cost products through personal contact has become very uncommon.  It simply does not pay to sell a product for $50 or $100 and then pay people to sit in cubicles to talk on the phone that may cost $50 or $100 an hour.
That said, I'll try to help for free!
CS5, CS5.5 and CS6 are products from the past that, as far as I know are not being updated or maintained.  Adobe has replaced them with the "Creative Cloud" or "CC".  So, if you want a current version of "Premier CC", you "rent" it for $20 a month.  For $50 a month, you can rent everything Adobe makes for photogrphers, videographers, designers and graphic artists.
If "upgrade" means "get a cheaper price", no.
The easiest way to buy the DVD version of Elements 13 is to order it from a major retailer like B&H Photo or Amazon.  I've checked and both have it.   The cheapest way to buy it is to wait for holiday season pricing.

  • Lightroom says photos are already in folder - but they aren't

    Hello lightroom users,
Am hoping you can shed some light onto a problem I'm having.  I had to move my lightroom folders between external harddrives and in doing so, the folders seem to have duplicated, with the photos shared between them. So I have my 2013 folder twice (with subfolders by date) and my photos are spread between the two folders.
I obviously don't want two folders for 2013, so I am trying to move the photos from one set into the other. Unfortunately, an error prompt appears each time, saying that the photos I am trying to move already exist in the other set. They don't! They are missing from the other set.
Is the problem that the folders/subfolders share the same name? In which case, would it suffice to change the names of the folders (how do I do that)? How can I fix this?! Thanks so much for your help, I am at my wit's end. ..

  • On my iMac my photos are in Pictures, not in iPhoto. They are numbered to keep them in sequence on my Imac, but they do not show in sequence on my AppleTV. How do I get them to show in sequence, (start of vacation to end of vacation) ? THANKS!

    Hello Support Group!
All of my photos are in folders under the  "Finder", "Favorites", "Pictures" category on my IMac. ( Mac OSX version 10.7.5)  Each folder has sequentially numbered photos to keep them in order for viewing. For example, my folder titled " Travel - Hong Kong 2004" has 50 photos in it showing the trip from start to finish, each photo numbered 111, 112, 113, etc. I do not use any 0's, so the numerical sequence will go 118, 119, 121, 122. This process works well to keep the photos of my trip in sequence when I am looking at them on my IMac.
When I watch the same folder on my Apple TV the photos are displayed randomly. The Apple TV is instructed not to shuffle the photos on slideshow. Can anyone tell me how I can get my photos to show in sequence on Apple TV?  My Apple TV is Model MC 572C/A and the software is 5.2.1 (6025) updated today. Thanks very much!
    Doug May

I can't recall whether slideshows are ordered by title or date, but you can manually re-arrange the albums in iPhoto, then batch change them once you have the order you want.

  • In the last 36 hours my photos have jumbled within various albums. Random photos have attached at the end of an unrelated album, old photos have appeared again on Recently Added, some photos are missing but still on "collections". No date order

Within the last 36 hours my photo albums have turned into a real jumbled mess. Random photos have appeared at the bottom of my Recently Added album. In most cases it's a copy of a photo that was taken months or years ago so now it appears twice.. 200 random photos have appeared in an unrelated album.  Some photos are missing completely. The date order is correct in some places and then it goes back and forth over the months and years. The "collections" appears to be okay.  This morning when I went into the photo app About 50 photos that were permanently deleted 3 months ago reappeared on the Recently Added Album which  I deleted again.  if  I delete these irreplaceable photos from the unwanted album it will delete the photo completely. Help please - this is so annoying and frustrating. I hate to think when I turn the iPad on tmoor row what else will have changed .

    Quick Update:
I usually have my Mac laptop up with Messages running on it.  As you know, it will receive the same messages you send/receive on your iPhone.  I thought all my old photos would be there too, but they have all disappeared as well except for the last few.
Messages is supposed to archive all old photos to  a directory called ~/Library/Messages/Attachments.  On my mac, this was a 0 byte file that was created back in Jan 2014.  As a result, none of the old photos got saved on my Messages app either.  I looked at a Time Machine Backup and it has been the case since September (no earlier backups available).  So, it's unclear how long this issue has been going on for my Messages app and how related it is to my iPhone problem.
In any case, if any of you use Messages, you may be able to recover your photos in that directory provided it didn't get trashed like mine did.  I moved the file and created a new Attachments directory.  Upon relaunch, Messages started properly storing new photos in there again.
Either there was a really terrible bug in the Apple software or something malicious has happened.
P.S.  I'm running OS 10.9.5 Mavericks.   There is a thread of people with this problem on Yosemite here:

This seems like a pretty seriously terrible bug.  I will be talking again to AppleCare on Wednesday and I hope they can escalate this.
