Photos in my iPad photo albums don't match photos in iPhoto

There were photos in my iPad and iPhone albuns that were not in those albums in iPhoto (and vice versa).
After lots of futile attempts to fix the issue (including rebuilding the photo librarary on my iMac,) I finally figured out how to do this . . .
NOTE: This worked perfecty for me. I hope it does for you.
You've got to remove your "iPod Photo cache." (Don't worry; a new one will be created next time you sync.
To do this . . .
1) Open Finder
2) Click on your User Name
3) Hold down the Option key while you click on "Pictures"
4) Find the folder named "iPod Photo Cache"
5) Move it to the Trash
6) Connect your iPad (and/or iPhone/iPod Touch) to iTunes
7) UNcheck sync "Photos" for all devices
8) Sync device(s)
9) Check "Sync Photos" for the device(s), indicating which albums you want to syb\nc from your iPhoto library TO those devices.
10) Sync your device(s)
The albums on your device(s) should now be in total synchronicity with the albums in iPhoto.
Good luck!

The only thing I can think of beyond what I originally posted is that you try rebuilding your iPhoto library by holding down the Command AND Option keys as you open iPhoto. When you see the dialog box,  check all the boxes and continue.
The process may take a while, depending on how many photos you have in your library. (Example: 3,000 photos could take an hour or a little more).
Then . . . follow steps 6-10 from my original post.
Here they are again without the embarrassing typo . . .
6) Connect your iPad (and/or iPhone/iPod Touch) to iTunes
7) UNcheck sync "Photos" for all devices
8) Sync device(s)
9) Check "Sync Photos" for the device(s), indicating which albums you want to sync from your iPhoto library TO those devices.
10) Sync your device(s)
Hope you have luck!

  • Hi, I'm a bit low on memory and I can't update the iOS. I need to move some photos off the iPad but I don't want to transfer them to a pc, I'd prefer to transfer them to iCloud and leave them there.  Is that possible?

Hi, I'm a bit low on memory and I can't update the iOS. I need to move some photos off the iPad but I don't want to transfer them to a pc, I'd prefer to transfer them to iCloud and leave them there.  Is that possible?

Yes, you could, because in this case you would have something like a backup in the cloud. BTW, personally I also like Flickr. Flickr offers you 1 TB (1000 GB) of free storage and automatic upload for photos since iOS 7 (it is a very attractive offer, at least for me)

  • I want to remove some photos from my iPad--but I don't want to remove them from my Mac. How do I remove photos using the iPad itself?

I want to remove a few photos from my iPad, but not from my Mac (from-to which I sync). Is this possible? I can get the "delete" button to show on the iPad, but it is not fully lit--i.e. pressing it does no good.

You can delete photos that you took on the pad, and photos that you imported from the camera connection kit right on the pad.  That delete button will work on those.
Photos that you synced from the mac get deleted by resyncing.  When you connect the pad, push the photos tab, uncheck sync all, and then select only the photos you want on the pad.   The mac acts like the master storage unit, and all the photos will stay there (unless you delete them in i photo) and copies are placed onto the pad.
Photos you take on the pad, by the way, dont get moved to the mac during a sync, you need to import them to iphoto.  While the pad is connected, open up i photo, and the pad will show up as a device on the left side.  You can select which pad photos you want to import.  Those photos are now part of the master copy on the mac, and can be synced back to the pad, or not, as you decide.

  • Photos albums don't reveal photos on rollover like iPhoto?

I miss the way you could see a preview of the photos inside an album or folder by rolling over..
Any way to get the new Photos app to have the same rollover behavior as iPhoto?

The rollover only occurred in Events which have been replaced by Moments which do not have an mode where each Moment is represents by an single icon.  So there's no place to have rollover.
Moments in Photo are the new Events.  There's a way to simulate events in Photos.
When the library was first migrated there was a folder created titled iPhoto Events and all migrated iPhoto Events are represented by an album in the folder. To open the sidebar if it's not open use the Option+Command+S key combination.
When new photos are imported into the Photos library go to the Last Import smart album, select all the photos and use the File ➙ New Album menu option or use the key combination Command+N.  Name it as desired.  It will appear just above the iPhoto Events folder where you can drag it into the iPhoto Events folder
When you click on the iPhoto Events folder you'll get a simulated iPhoto Events window. In this case rollover of an album would be reasonable, but not in the sidebar where albums are too small for rollover.
The downside to the simulation is that the Album/Events can only be sorted automatically by Title. But they can be sorted manually.  Ask Apple for more sorting options and rollover capability for folders in Photos via https://www.apple.com/feedback/photos.html.

  • Photos app on iPad mini (retina) won't import photos

On a Win 7 (SP1) with all updates I downloaded photos from 2 iPhones (4S) and a Canon point & shoot digital camera. A week ago I purchased the SD card camera adapter for my iPad mini w/retina display. I put the SD from the Canon into the adapter and as expected the Photo app opened and I was able to download 59 photos to the iPad. Today it doesn't seem to work the same way. In the process of troubleshooting this I copied one photo each from the 2 iPhones, the Canon camera and even from the iPad; a total of 4 jpg files. When I insert the SD card into the card reader which is plugged into the iPad the Photos app launches as expected, in the Albums view. But, none of the photos on the SD card are imported. All of these files can be read just fine with Windows Photo Viewer. All of the involved devices are up to current rev.
Any bright ideas?? Some friends are coming over and my wife has said we WILL be showing photos on the iPad. HEEEELLLLLP ME!
    Thanks,
    Wayne

As I mentioned ("a total of 4 jpg files") they are jpg files. And, yes of course IOS devices support jpg.

  • When you import photos to your ipad from your iMac , do those photos disappear from the iMac?

When you import photos from your iMac to your ipad, do those photos disappear from the iMac??

No. Syncing albums from your computer to your iPad copies the photos to your iPad but leaves them on the computer.

  • I have deleted the last imported photos thinking that the photos were kept in the album, but all my photos are now gone. How can I get the photos back from trash ?

I have deleted my file "last imported photos" thinking that the photos were kept in the album, but now all my photos are gone; How can I recover the deleted photos?

If you have emmptied the iPhoto trash then you're going to need a file recovery application like File Salvage

  • How can i delete synced photos on my ipad, when i cant view the photos on my pc

i cant view my photos on my pc, but it already synced my photos from my library and i want to remove them.

If you want to remove them all, connect your iPad to your computer via iTunes.  Once your iPad is recognized on the left side, click on the device once to open it in iTunes.  Click on Photos and uncheck Sycn All Photos and click apply and they will be removed.

  • ITunes showing I have photos on my iPad and I don't-help me please!

HI, need a bit of help.
My iTunes shows in the summary of what data I've consumed where on my iPad Air 2 that I have got 362 photos which is using 6.07MB.

    Thanks
    Lauren

Have you deleted them from the recently deleted folder too.

  • My storage states 2.4gb of Photos on my ipad, but I only have 24 photos, how do I free up this memory?

I only have a small number of photos that add up to less than 30mb, but my storage in ipad states 2.4gb of photo memory, I have ran a number of cache cleaners and photo checkers but I cannot clear this excess memory.
When I try to sync it says to the imac it says it cannot locate the iphoto library
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hello dannyboybell,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that there is a discrepancy in what you see for photo storage on your iPad. One step I would recommend in this situation would be to place your iPad into recovery mode and select Update when given the choice. This will not erase any of your content. The attached article doesn’t match your issue, but the troubleshooting steps I would suggest are similar.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Am struggling to get my music to play on my iPad purchased albums don't seem to play and I don't seem to be able to sort it out. It's really hard to explain!

Can anyone help me please? Am struggling wi th some of my music. Have upgraded my laptop to new version of iTunes but some of my music won't download. And I'm double tapping for all I'm worth! Any help would be muchly appreciated!

Your post is a bit confusing to me and you really don't explain what is happening other than you cant play music on the iPad. That covers so many things that its hard to know where to start.
This is how you sync music to the iPad.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on all of the albums or playlists that you want to sync - or the entire library if you like.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
Are you signed inot the correct Apple ID on the iPad - the one that matches the ID that you are using on the computer in iTunes?
Does the music appear on the iPad?
What are you double tapping and why?

  • Is there a way to automatically sync my iPhone photos to my iPad and keep it there (not photo stream)

And then I would like to delete some pics from my iPhone but I want it to stay on iPad

Well first, you'd need to update your Mac to the current Mavericks release 10.9.4, and your iTunes needs to be version 11.2 or later.  If you have not done those updates yet, then you won't see the sync options in iTunes.
Once you've done those updates, the sync options for local contact syncing should be where they always were prior to Mavericks initial release -- on the "Info" tab for your iPhone's sync options while connected to iTunes (locate and select your iPhone in the iTunes "sidebar" on the left side, then select the Info tab).

  • How do I remove individual photos from the ipad without changing the photo album in my lap top where the photo album is stored??

How do I remove individual photos from the ipad2 without affecting the photo album in my lap top where the photo album resides?

    You don't.
To remove a photo from your iPad that is located in a photo album on your computer selected to be transferred to your iPad under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, the only way to remove the photo from your iPad is by removing if from the album on your computer followed by a sync.

  • Is it possible to transfer photos from the iPad that are not in camera roll but in albums I have created?

Hi there. can someone please tell me there is a way of doing this because I was on the phone to 121 for two hours and they couldn't help in the way I wanted.
I have a customer who took his iPad on holiday and with a cable adapter used it to back up the photos from his campact camera.
Whilst he was out there he took the time to separate all the photos into albums using the standard iPad 'Photos' app. There must be 50 or so albums in there.
So now he wants to get those photos off but keep the organisation the app has allowed him to do but if we plug it up to either his Macbook pro or Windows neither the hundreds of photos or thier albums are nowhere to be seen.
The only way I can find to get them out using Macbook or Windows is to transfer photos back into the camera roll or to share them via the cloud but both ways lose the album organisation.
Obviously if there is no way to do this (which seems bonkers for a modern device) then we shall have to painstakingly do just that. It would be nice not to have to endure the hours of work is all.
    Thanks in advance!!!
