Photos Not Arriving as Attachments

More specifically, when I try to send JPGs to non-Mac users here at work, the JPGs show up in the body of the email, but not as attachments; consequentially, the recipient can't extract the JPG file from the mail. This just started happening Thursday 10/19, in the past all I've had to do is select a photo and click send.
My workaround has been to compress the photo as a ZIP file and send that; PC recipients will recognize other types of files as attachments, just not JPGs, which embed in the body. Again, this only happens when I send to people using Windows, but it never happened before yesterday (10-19-06). Anyone else experience this? Is it a setting or server issue?

Hi Solo!
So you're sending the files as attachments or you're pasting them into your email? Sounds like you're sending them as attachments and when you do they show up as pictures in your email right? Try to right click that picture and see if you have the option to view as icon? Maybe you will have better results sending it that way? And you could also try to click on "Windows friendly attachments" for what it's worth???

  • Photos macmail arrive as individual attachments

I emailed 3 friends with PC's some pictures from iphoto. i use Mac mail.
the photos did not arrive in the body of the email rather as attachments. I emailed 10 medium sized photos and they had to open them up one at a time.
They go out in the body of the email.
I sent them to myself at msn.com and opened it up on my mac and sure enough they were fine.
I opened them up on my partners msn account and she has a PC and they were attachments and not in the body of the email.
any ideas so my PC friends can get the photos in the email??

Normally complaints are that photos DO NOT arrive as individual attachments -- this is the preferred way, and essentially the only way without embedding images within HTML. This something Mail does not do, and is often problematic when it can be accomplished.
Having said this, many email clients, such as Mail do what is called View in Place, or Inline View. This is under the control of the recipients email client and has nothing to do with the way you compose. View in Place may result in the appearance of being in the body, but again this is dependent upon the recipients email client.

  • Emails with MS word attachments not arriving, but Pages attachments okay

When I send an email with a Word attachment that was originally created in MS Word (v 11.3.5), the email does not arrive at its destination. I've started bcc'g myself to doublecheck and it seems consistent, no matter where it is going. It shows up as "Sent" in the mailbox, but the recipient never receives it.
However, when I create the document in Pages, then convert it to a Word document using "Export" in Pages, then attach it to an email, the email goes through without a problem.
Just now, I created the document in Pages, converted it using "Export", then edited it a bit while it was in Word. When I sent the email as an attachment, it disappeared again and did not arrive at its destination. This is really scary, because I have frequently sent people emails and assume that they are arriving (the email shows up in my "Sent" mailbox, but just disappears into cyberspace somewhere.)
Is this a glitch with Word or Mail? It started happening about 4 months ago, and I have already tried re-installing Word. That seemed to fix it for awhile but it's just happened again.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

For gigabyte-class file transfers, you'll really want to use a different path — that message size is easily approaching a denial-of-service scale message size, if not exceeded it.
If you really want to try doing attachments of that size and all the intervening SMTP servers support it, then try setting the message size manually via something like the (untested) following commands:
    sudo postconf -c /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix  message_size_limit  -e  "message_size_limit = 10485760"
    sudo postfix reload
Or to whatever specific attachment size you want to try to use.  The unit is in bytes.
The other Postfix setting that tends to get involved here is mailbox_size_limit, as well as whatever quotes might be in use for the specific users.

  • Emails with large attachments not arriving

We have an open limit on email size but consistently emails with large attachments do not arrive at the destination (even to the same domain). They do go into the clients sent box. Any thoughts on how to trouble shoot? thanks

  • Attachments sent do not arrive

    Hi,
I have the problem when sending attachments (doc jpg xls) that sometimes they do not arrive at the recipient's end (windows users) or they cannot open them. Sometimes it helps if they just add the file format e.g. xls to the file name again.
Anyone knows what's wrong and how to solve this?
    Thanks

I ordered a photobook, when I went to purchase it flashed up a warning about default text saying 'printed books will not include this text'.
Was really dissapointed when my photo book arrived with the default text printed. Will I have to return it? Or can I get some sort of discount? I don't live near a post office so I'd rather not have to return it.

Contact Apple support - they can answer that type of questions - we are just users here like yourself
BTW - it is best not to order when you have errors - to resolve that error place a single space in the subject text box
    and always
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.

  • Can I send an E-Mail with photo (not as an attachment)?

I would like to send an E-Mail with a small photo (not as an attachment) to someone who is reluctant to open attachments. Can I do this and how??
    Thank you
    tch

If you insert an image into the body, it will still be 'attached', even though it won't be listed as an attachment in the usual way. Another option is to upload the photo to your personal storage space such as OneDrive or Google Drive, and then email the link to the image. The image can then be displayed in a web browser. If you don't have a storage space, there are plenty of free image-hosting services.

  • How NOT to embed attachments?

I am trying to ATTACH a pdf file to an outgoing email, but no matter what I do it appears inline instead of being a clickable attached file. What's the secret to NOT embedding your attachments within email? I can't find anything under Preferences.
    TIA.

Does the recipient indicate the PDF is not received as an attached file (embedded) which cannot be saved outside of the message?
The Mail.app displays all photo/image and 1 page PDFs inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default which cannot be turned off.
An inline or viewed in place attachment is not the same thing as being embedded.
You can control-click on an inline or viewed in place attachment and select View as Icon but regardless, depending on the recipient's email client such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened (as with the Mail.app when receiving such attachments) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
The same in reverse. When attaching photo/image or 1 page PDF files to a message with Windows Outlook or Outlook Express, they are shown as attached files only when sending but when received by the Mail.app, such attachments appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default when the message is opened for which the sender has no control over unless they compress or zip the attachment or attachments.
RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML and with Windows Outlook (depending on the version used by the recipient), sometimes an inline or viewed in place attachment sent with Tiger Mail using RTF for message composition (along with a signature and/or depending on if the attachment is inserted after all message text or within message text) will be received as embedded but this has more to do with a problem with Outlook since the same doesn't occur with all email clients.
If any of your recipients are reporting such attachments are truly embedded when received, using Plain Text for message composition will resolve it.
There is a plug-in for the Mail.app called Mail Attachments Iconizer but the previous info provided still applies.

  • Apple MAIL e-mail with attachment not arriving in GMail accounts

    Serious problem...
If I send an e-mail FROM my mac account TO a GMail account...
    ... No attachment: E-mail arrives
... With attachment: E-MAIL DOES NOT ARRIVE
I've tested this from my MAIL account to our principal on our school's GMail account.
I've tested this from my MAIL account to my own GMail account.
Repeatedly: if my MAIL-generated e-mail includes an attachement, it DOES NOT ARRIVE in GMail acocunts.
    This is a serious problem...
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.
    Cat
PS Just did an experiment: sent a MAIL-generated e-mail with attachment to my GMail account -- e-mail arrived, but had been stripped of attachment. Immediately sent another MAIL e-mail with two small attachments -- it never arrived in my GMail account but the cc arrived immediately in my MAIL account with both attachments intact.

I too am experiencing this behavior, however, for some reason that I do not know, the attachments appear ok one day and then they appear embedded. This is becoming detrimental to my work!
Is anyone looking into this at Apple?

  • Messages not arriving

I've checked elsewhere on here but my problem seems a little different.... during an email exchange with a friend, my emails stopped arriving in his inbox - I know this as I telephoned to check. It seems unlikely that it's his spam filter, and there's no question of a wrong address as I simply pressed reply. I am now wondering if other mails haven't arrived, which would be infuriating as they included important information. Also, it was plain text, no attachments etc.

Keep in mind that many mail providers are offering new SPAM filter services, but the user does not always understand them. Take the last message that did not arrive, open it in the Sent mailbox, click on Message in the menubar and choose Send Again. But before sending from the resulting Compose window, click on Format in the menubar and choose Make Plain Text. Send and check to see he gets this version.

  • Sent email not arriving

It happened several times that an email with a .docx or .pdf attachment sent from a @me.com account  was listed as "SENT" but did not arrive at the recipient. The same email sent without attachment however did arrive. The recipient has a @mac.com address.

Can we back up a minute?  Is the problem only with this recipient that as a @mac.com email address?  It could be that there is some setting that is blocking attachments at their end.  Either the server, or some anitvirus SW they have installed on their system.  This seems more likely since you can send attacments to other addresses.

  • Can not open email attachments in yahoo mail

I can not open any attachments in my yahoo email account using firefox. However I can open them in IE. Please help!

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
