Photoshop Crashing Issue
Photoshop cs2 crashing while working with TIFF files with size above 60MB, please provide a solution for this?
With the information you provide that may be difficult …
Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

Photoshop crashes when rearranging layers in layer window.
Photoshop crashes when rearranging layers in layer window. I'm using Photoshop CS4 Extended on a MacBook Pro purchased 5 months ago. I have tried restarting the computer. I am able to rearrange layers with the hot keys.

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by keeping command-alt-shift pressed on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
Does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue? -
Photoshop crashing on OS 10.9.5
Hi I have been stuck in a crashing loop with photoshop CS6. I down loaded the new OS, and it crashed shortly after. I was working on a photo, and I got a warning saying my startup disk was almost full, so I deleted over 100 images, and emptied the trash. I went back to working on my image, and photoshop crashed. When I
opened up CS6 again it gave me this warning: Every time I click Reopen it crashes. I have uninstalled, and reinstalled photoshop twice. The warning still appears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
MattAsk in the PS forum and provide exact system information. Most such issues can simply be attributed to hardware acceleration issues, in this case most likely overlay drawing issues with the crop preview. Turn that stuff off in the prefs and see if it makes a difference.

Photoshop Crashing after OSX Software Update!
Help! I'm a graphic designer who uses Photoshop everyday, all day and Photoshop crashes whenever saving files. It started happening right after I updated to 10.4.6. Any help at all would be appreciated...

G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)Welcome to Apple Discussions!
There appears to be some issue with Appleshare clients and Photoshop. If you are using Appleshare (afp connectivity), save your files locally to the hard disk and then use the Finder to transfer your files over. If that is not the issue, you may need to reinstall Photoshop, or dump the Photoshop preference files.
Did you backup your data prior to installing the update? If not, even a backup now would help, as further troubleshooting may require risky procedures. -
Photoshop crash when opening larger files
Hi there,
A recently upgraded iMac now running Creative Cloud on Mountain Lion is having an issue where Photoshop crashes upon opening a large file, the log files show it as Photoshop is hanging when infact it has crashed. I have pasted one of the log files below.
As a note generally restarting the Mac after this has occured will allow the user to open the file.
Any assistance with this issue is much appreciated.

Hi Mylenium,
I have heard back from the client and they have advised me that this has resolved the issue.

Photoshop crashing with small dimensions
Hello,
I have a user reporting that Photoshop crashes when she tries to create a template with some odd dimensions. This occur on the user computer and she tried it on 2 other user's computers with 2 different versions of Photoshop. The user version is Photoshop CS5.1, the other Co workers are Photoshop CS5 & CS5.5. The user is running Windows 7 Pro x86, 3.86G Memory intergrated video card on a Dell Vostro 330 with a network printer attached, model HP Color LJ 4650 DTN using PS drivers. She indicated the error comes up everytime she tries to use that size with the steps above. I also know that the co worker that have CS5.5 is running Windows 7 x64 8G Memory was just deployed to him so all avaliable Adobe Creative Suite updates was applied as of 2/14
Below are the steps she goes through to get the error to come up within Photoshop CS5.1
I open the file.
I select the "print" option.
I select "print options."
I go to the "Paper/ Quality" tag for page sizing I've created my custom sizing options So I select them to print and I receive:
"Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
The custom paper size she is trying to use is 10.75x7.125
The error that pops up within windows event log

I checked around but I did not come up with anything that fix this kind of issue. The user is trying to make a DVD Sleeve with the dimensions provided.Hi,
if all these machines have the same printer configured, I suggest to check for printer driver updates. The faulting DLL appears to be from the printer driver.

10.7.4 huge photoshop performance issues
I've had variants of three different versions of Photoshop installed - CS4, 5 and now 6. I'm not 100% sure when the issue
started occurring, but I've done a lot of experimentation to analyze it.
The components involved are
1.Photoshop
2.Wacom Intuos 3
3.Lion 10.7.4
Whenever I'm digital painting, which I'm doing professionally, all the time, the colour picking mechanism is not only slow, but doesn't work about 2/3 of the
time. The next stroke made *after* the colour picking never works either. I do this about ONCE EVERY TWO SECONDS. So it's like being punched
in the face all day long while you're trying to get some work done.
Most likely, support staff will attempt to get rid of me saying 'ask wacom' or 'ask adobe.' BUT, here's the process I've gone through.
1.Tried all three variants of photoshop. They all have issues.
2.Switched to a different Wacom tablet (identical model), switched three different wacom pens, all identical models. Note that I also
tested all of these on a Windows machine with the same Photoshop issue, and they all work. And I also tested them all, and photoshop,
on my old intel powerbook running the same version of Photoshop, and it's fine. That Mac is running Leopard.
3.I erased my HD, reinstalled Lion (10.7.4 obviously) and installed Photoshop and the Wacom drivers on top of it again. Just one version,
nothing else to mess with it. Aaaaand, exactly the same issue.
This has made my Mac unusable and frankly, is having a massive financial impact on me . If anyone can think of anything I've left out, please
give it a shot. My instinct is that this has narrowed it down to the operating system, and that it's most likely something to do with the GPU. Or the USB bus. Or the application support libraries - but specific to this hardware as, like i say, I've tried another mac with leopard and all is fine.
HEEEEELP!I am having serious Photoshop performance issues as well.
My Photoshop CS5 was running well until I upgraded to Mac OS 10.7.4. My observations are highly un-scientific, but I am noticing the worst performance in Photoshop when I have my Firefox browser open. It's like the 2 programs are fighting with each other. I am also noticing Flash crash reports on Firefox when Photoshop is open.
Even with Firefox closed, however, Photoshop CS5 is sluggish and slow with 10.7.4. Even the dreaded beachball coming back into my life.
I have even erased my hardrive and reinstalled the OS and that did not help.
Other programs are running fine. Even Firefox runs well when photoshop is not running. -
I just downloaded a rial of Photoshop (for Windows), when launching the program it appears to load up fine, then before I can use it I get a message "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly". I downloaded Illustrator to test if I would have issues with other Adobe programs, but Illustrator loaded without any issues.
Usually when you get the message a program stop working in Windows there is a crash report generated. Did you check your windows reliability history??? Here are some I see on my system. The CC and CC 2014 stopped Workings happened in Windows KERNELBASE.dll and were cause by a Nvidia drivers update. I then install a newer version and repeated testing thing in Photoshop that were causing Photoshop to stop working. Photoshop is now running better. All Photoshop crashes are not in Adobe's code, CS6 was very unstable however CS6 CC and CC 2014 with the Adobe updates applied are quite stable. Yes there are bugs in Photoshop. Still Photoshop is the most comprehensive image editor there is and those version are very stable in the Mac and PC environments if the user's system are also stable and up to date.

Photoshop crashes with 1 file open and opening second from Desktop
I have an odd dilemma: a user can work on a single file fine in Photoshop. If she tries to open a second file in Photoshop and chooses 'Desktop', Photoshop immediately crashes/closes.
I logged into the computer as myself with Administrative privileges and was able to do the above without Photoshop crashing. I logged into the computer under a different general account with the same privileges as the user and was again able to do the above without Photoshop crashing. It appears to be something related to her profile, but a profile rebuild did not resolve the issue.
I read somewhere else on the forums about choosing a local printer. I did that, but the problem persisted. Are there any other user-specific settings that may be causing Photoshop to crash? We ended up having to rebuild her entire computer image from scratch. That seemed to resolve the issue (albeit a time-consuming process).

Photoshop crash and 10.4.6
So I too am having the photoshop crashing problem since updating to 10.4.6. Whenever working on a file and saving it the program just crashes. It seems like the easiest fix I can find is to re-install and then upgrade only to 10.4.5. Problem is that my scanner does not work in 10.4.5 but it does in 10.4.6.
Of the fixes I have tried:
1. replace these files from 10.4.5 system
/System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare
/System/Library/Frameworks/AppleShareClientCore.framework
/System/Library/Frameworks/AppleshareClient.framework
2. in apple script:
tell application "Finder"
mount volume "diskname" on server "address.to.server"
end tell
into the Script Editor, Compile and SaveAs to your HD/Library/Scripts.
3. put tilde (~) in front of the twain file in photoshop. I have not been able to get any of these to work.
Any clues or tipes on this? It's pretty infuriating.I am very familiar with this issue.
(There are a few choices at hand, but going back to 10.4.5 will only prolong your issue to have to deal with it another time).
Update your AFP protocol.
*Roll back the AFP to 10.4.5
*Use the PhotoShop "DisableGetInfoPlugin".
(*I have last 2 if you need them)
Here's the real truth:
While these solutions may help for most files, it won't be a fix for every file you have. The reason is file specific.
You should be able to save the file to the desktop and copy it to the network. From there the file should be okay as long as when it was saved, it was saved on the 10.4.6 OS, using the newer AFP spec.
Even when PhotoShop crashes, the data in the file is in most cases saved. The issue is due to the character field length in the commenting field for the file. The newer AFP spec uses a smaller field than the older one did, causing the application to puke when too many characters are encountered in a file.
You see why not every file will be affected this way, only the ones with too many comments saved in the commenting field (using the older AFP spec). -

Photoshop crash maybe video driver
I've been having a problem with photoshop crashing sometime while working in 3d. according to the reliabilty monitor it is related to a dll named "AHCLIENT.DLL." I could be wrong but this file is part of adobes help.
I have been told that it is due to outdated video card driver which to me make no sense, however.
I'd apreciate any thoughts and suggestion on this problem. TIA
My h8-1080t consist of:

You are right that the AHCLIENT.DLL is an Adobe help file. I would suggest checking out the Adobe forums you are more likely to find someone who can help you there.

AnttiThanks for updating the community on the findings which you have made. Maybe you can give us more insight on the crash message, photoshop version and which model of ThinkPad W series were you using? W520 I presume?
