Photoshop CS and Mavericks

I recently updated my Mac to the Mavericks OS and my Photoshop CS no longer works. I have seen "fixes" for CS6, 5, 4, etc, but nothing is working for original CS. I'm not finding contact info for Adobe, so I'm not sure how to resolve this issue. I paid for my Photoshop, and I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to use it without going back to Snow Leopard.

Unfortunately, photoshop cs will not work on mavericks, because mavericks does not have Rosetta like snow leopard did.
(no, Rosetta can not be installed on mavericks)
So you need a native intel version of photoshop for mavericks: cs3 thru cc 2014
The current versions offered from adobe are photoshop cs6 if you want a perpetual license or photoshop cc 2014 that is a subscription

Found a fix online which is to turn off ‘Show preview column’ in show view options, but this is a pain because I like to have the preview with image and file info.

I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait and see like the rest of us. It's against the Terms of Use of the Apple Discussions to speculate about unannounced or unreleased products, but the Macworld Expo starts in San Francisco in a little more than two weeks. In the past, Apple has released software updates at the same time as the expo to support new software and hardware. No one here can speculate if this will include the update you're looking for, however.

Photoshop elements and Mavericks 10.9.3

Most information I'm finding says says Photoshop Elements will work with Mavricks, earlier versions. Any idea if it works with the latest update?

PSE 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 will work, although there are a couple of glitches in PSE 11. The others are just fine.

Installation error Photoshop Cs6 Extended and Maverick

I have a brand new iMac which is operating with Maverick. I have just purchased Adobe Photoshop Extended and tried to install but I get an error straight away saying 'the following disk images could not be opened. Image - Photoshop_13_LS16.dr and the reason is input/output error.
I have already installed the program using this same disc on my Mac laptop which I have upgraded to Maverick but I had no issues.
Can anyone help me with what to do?

create a folder on you desktop and copy the disc contents to that folder. open the folder and click setup.

Three things:
• You need to make sure you have updated to Photoshop 10.0.1, Bridge 2.1.1.9 and Camera Raw (ACR) 4.6.
• You need to purge the cache for the offending folders through the Tools menu in Bridge.

Raw files from the D300 are not supported by the old, obsolete version of ACR that gets installed by default by CS3. What you're seeing now is the embedded JPEG preview only, not the converted raw. That's why you have to upgrade to ACR 4.6

Printing in Photoshop CC in Mavericks with Epson R3000

When I upgraded to Mavericks and tried printing in Photoshop CC to my Epson R3000 the print dialog would show and choose an arbitrary paper size no matter what settings I used. Apple Care sent me an updated driver that solved the problem until I upgraded Mavericks to 13.9.2 and the exact same problem returned. I downloaded another print driver update from Apple with no change. Because my printer works fine in Lightroom 5 Apple Care has declared that it is an Adobe problem and they can't help.
Not to sound antiprogress but if I could I would happily go back to Snow Leopard and Photoshop CS6. Photoshop CC keeps crashing and since loading Mavericks my computer's internal processes, like opening a folder, have greatly slowed down. My very current iMac 27 has been working flawlessly in O.S. 10.6, my three Epson printers, and Photoshop CS6.

I've seen some similar issues with other Printers as well. There seems to be problems with Printer drivers communicating with Photoshop CC on Mavericks. Could be that all three are contributing to a problem here.
Try changing the default settings for the driver outside of Photoshop. What I've seen is that those settings will be carried over to Photoshop and work, but making changes to the printer driver (Print Settings button) are sometimes forgotten/lost, and the settings revert to the defaults.

Photoshop CS6 and the iMac

Hello,
I use Photoshop CS6 on a 2009 MacBook Pro and it runs great. I have 8GB of RAM
I am going to be purchasing a 27" iMac soon, but i have heard there are a lot of problems with Photoshop and Mavericks working together.
I am a computer novice so i am wondering if i should wait to get the iMac or if with a new machine and a new version of Photoshop CS6 i will be able to use Photoshop CS6 on the new iMac without any issues.
Please let me know your thoughts.

Photoshop CS6 is compatible with OS X Mavericks, but it is true that there are issues. See > https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5475799
As you can see, there are tricks that have worked for some users, so it is up to you to wait or to get the iMac now. Adobe may release Photoshop CS6 updates in the future to make it work better in Mavericks

Just select Photoshop Manages Color, and the printer driver color options should be disabled.

I accidently deleted my Photoshop CC and can't redownload.

I was having quite a bit of issues with my Photoshop CC and after asking a coworker realized i was the only one having those issues. So i decided to uninstall it and then reinstall. Now in previous versions of Mac OS you can uninstall programs by deleting them... apparently this isn't the case anymore? (We went through a rapid upgrade with our OS lately - now running Mavericks) So after deleting all my Photoshop CC files, i tried to install it again but it wouldn't let me... says it's up to date under my apps. No download button. It seems to think I still have it installed or it cant see that its gone?
Someone please help... I really miss my photoshop.

Unlike most Mac apps, you cannot simply drag the Photoshop CC folder to the Trashcan.

In addition to upgrading PhotoShop, your options are:
• Partition your MBP hard drive or add an external drive and install Snow Leopard (with the Optional Rosetta checked) into it. Then use the "dual-boot" method to run your PowerPC apps (including CS2 Photoshop) while in Snow Leopard and boot back into Mavericks when you need that capability.

"Could not initialize photoshop" CS4 on Mavericks

Every time I try to open Photoshop on OSX Mavericks, I get an error message that says, "Could not initialize Photoshop because of a program error." I have deleted the preference file several times, updated Java, first from the Apple site, then from Oracle, uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop twice, and still I get the same error message and PS will not open. Error Log says: 2014:01:03 09:42:53 : /Volumes/workarea/PS_11_Mac_Daily_Retail/20100519.r.592/photoshop/main/photoshop/xcode/.. /framework/sources/UTEView.cpp : 4269 : REQUIRE failed How do I get Photoshop CS4 to work with Mavericks? As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

then shuts down photoshop completely and i lose my work, i have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but its giving this error now.

I notice I failed to list my system...Late-2012 i7 iMac, 3TB Fusion, OS X 10.9.3, 32GB RAM.
Update. Google has confirmed the problem and I find it also exists in Photoshop CC 2014.
After some testing I've discovered a slightly inconvenient work around that works in Photoshop CC 2014, I haven't tested it in Photoshop CC
A 'simple' work around is to select Preferences->Performance... then uncheck "Use Graphics Processor", click OK to exit preferences, select Preferences->Performance... and check the "Use Graphics Processor" box again, quit Photoshop, restart Photoshop. The brush pattern is again shown.

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1. An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6. If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates. If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.
