Photoshop CS2/Elements 4 install problems!

This has been bugging me since I got both programs; whenever I attempt to install them, when it tries to install "shared items", it says a "required file is missing", and then tells me to restart the installation. I have no idea what this "required" file is, all I know is that no matter how many times I try to install either Elements or CS2, I get the same problem.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what's the missing required file?
Thanks in advance

In as much as the two applications are third party you might want to post over in the Adobe forum support web site. What required file is missing?

  • Photoshop Elements 13 Install problems

I've tried 3 times to download Photoshop Elements 13 from the CD and the same error code appears FATAL: DS003: Installer package might be corrupt.  Any advice would be great.

Try downloading the installation files instead of using the disc...  you can use the serial number from the disc to activate.

You can also download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on a Powerbook

I've been trying to install PS CS2 all day today and it keeps failing. It'll get through the welcoming and licensing process, but once I authenticate, the installer prepares my volume and then stop immediately after the installer script begins to run. The following message is shown in the installer window:
There were errors installing this software
    Please try installing again.
I checked the installer log and it shows that my volume is not supported:
    Target volume type not supported:

Jun 10 13:37:43 Dan-Rosellinis-Computer : Install failed: The following install step failed: run preflight script for Adobe Photoshop CS2
I tried all the suggestions by Adobe, (removing fonts, reboot with extensions off, disconnected all external devices) and I tried to install this on a iBook and an external volume, but still no luck.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    17 Powerbook 1.33 GHz G4   Mac OS X (10.3)

After talking to Adobe's help desk and trying several things that didn't work, I went back to the install log. Specifically the part that said the target disk wasn't supported. I replaced by internal drive about a year ago, because it was failing, and I formatted the new drive as Case Sensitive Journaled". The Adobe tech said that that wouldn't be the problem, but after a Google search on Case Sensitive Journaled (CSJ), I found several cases of install errors of Adobe Creative Suite when attempting to install on a drive formated as CSJ.
I made a disk copy of my drive using Carbon Copy Cloner then, using Disk Utility from the install disk, reformatted my drive and restored it from the disk image. Rebooted and all worked well, even the install of PSCS2. As a bonus, my copy of Macromedia Contribute now works again. Go figure....

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install on MacBook Pro, 10.4.6

I have a 15 inch, 2.0 ghz MacBook Pro running 10.4.6. At this point I have installed all of the current Apple software updates.
I'm trying to install Photoshop CS2 and the installer hangs up and freezes the entire screen (although I can move the mouse) at the very beginning of the installation. The installer reads "Running Installation Script". The only way out is to do a hard reboot.
I've searched this forum and the Adobe forum and can't find any work arounds. On the Adobe forum it was suggested to do a clean install of OS X and it should work. I'd like to avoid that because of the time and possible loss of data.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Yup ... same for me. Both PS and Common Files are greyed out and I can't uncheck anything.
Also, I did verify the disk permissions; created a different account; and even booted in Safe Mode.
It looks like Adobe is using the "we don't support Intel Macs yet" line so any fix for this may need to come from Apple.
I do have PS 7 running (I didn't install it on the MacBook, it ported over from my old machine when I set the new machine up) so I'm not completely dead. Sure wish I could use Adobe Bridge though.
EDIT: I just found this on the Adobe forum:
"Apprently there are some problems with the QT7.1 update.
Unfortunately, the only solution is to reinstall your OS and then install every update other than QT7.1. "

  • Differences between Photoshop CS2, Elements and illustrator?

I've been using iphoto which i love. but see it as a final stage for editing my photos.
im thinking about getting one of the photoshops but dont know which one. this is where i ask what are the differences of CS2, elements and illustrator. Also, what do they each do?
I got illustrator for a little bit but didnt know how to use it. i found it really annoying and got rid of it.
On my old windows laptop would use photoshop 7.0 or whatever it was. i knew how to do the basics but was no expert on it.

As Terence suggested PSE 4 is, IMO, the way to go. Although I use PS CS3 it's just too pricey for the average consumer and PSE4 can do it all except for converting to CMYK for printing on high-end printers. Here's an advanced example of what you can do with PSE4.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't install!

    Hello!
I have installed Photoshop CS a long time ago and have been using it ever since, but I would like to install Photoshop CS2 and use that instead. However, whenever I try to install it, the installer always gets stuck on "Running Installer Script" or something like that. I have kept it running for hours, and it never progresses, yet it my Mac never freezes or anything.
Does anyone have any idea on how to go about correctly installing Photoshop CS2? Thank you!

    Installed CS3 instead...

  • My Photoshop cs2 won't install

I used photoshop cs2 on my last computer, and now i've got a mac. But photoshop won't get installed. When I press finish it just fail every time. What should I do?

If you mean you have a new Mac then CS2 is far too old to be useable. CS2 is only compatible with old PowerPC Macs and won't work at all on Intel Processor Macs.

  • How to fix photoshop CS2 work after install OS X lion

after  update  to   OS X Lion  , i can't  use any software  such as  Photoshop Cs2 ,AI ,....  and  the  Autocad for Mac .anyone can help..

Yes you will have to upgrade, But look at this from Adobe on compatability and consider carefully your options. Specifically droplets only work on CS5 for example. Also consider any plugins you might be using and there compaability.

  • Photoshop Elements 6 Install Problem

I just got PSE 6 Mac Version for my iMac and I have tried installing it a few times and it won't work. It installs the shared files (Bridge CS3, Help Viewer, and Stock Photo CS3) but after taking about 30 minutes for the installation, it doesn't install actual photoshop. On the last screen of the installation it says Error with installation of Adobe Photoshop Elements, but doesn't give a reason why. Does anyone know how to fix this and install the actual program? I already tried making a new admin id and installing it on that in case something on my id was interfering. PLEASE HELP!

    Hi Frank Land;
Ages ago when I first decided to get use Adobe products, I started off with demo software. When my real software finally arrived I deleted the demo software and then attempted to install the new. Nothing would install at all. I called Adobe support and their solution was to send me new media which worked as well as the original, not at all.
Finally on the Adobe forum one of the user there suggested a script that goes through your system and removes all of the bit and pieces that Adobe has installed throughout your system. Once I ran the script, everything installed like a champ.
This was a very long time ago and I can no longer find the script on my system. Maybe if you go to the Adobe forums and ask around for cleanup script that same user might be able to help you also.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 install problem

Hi, I've just downloaded Premier Elements 11 and Photoshop 11 to my PC, and run the installer.  Photoshop Elements did not appear on my program list.  When I found the Photoshop 11 .exe file by searching and ran it, it takes me to the screen where you choose between organiser and editor.  But if I click on photo editor, nothing happens.  And if I try to edit a photo from Premier Elements, it says photoshop is not installed.  Any ideas?  Many thanks

    Hi DougalScott1,
If you don't see Photoshop installed on your systme please try redownloading the package and installing it again.
Did you encounter any errors during installation?
Have you checked that your computer meets the minimum system requirements?

  • Photoshop Elements 7 install problems.

I am trying to download Elements 7 from disk.
Seems to go ok. and all the files seem to be there. But the program will not launch.
I am using an HP Pavilion with Vista 64.
    Help please!!
    Thanks!

    Mike,
There are many reasons why PSE might crash, and they can be hard to diagnose quickly, so you need to adopt a methodical (tedious) approach. I recommend first trying the licensing-service update:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Install_the_licensing-s ervice
and if that doesn't help, work your way through Adobe's troubleshooting steps:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#Try_Adobes_generic_troub leshooting
These include the step suggested by the previous poster.

  • Photoshop CS2 crashing after installing new Epson printer

I just installed a new Epson Workforce 323 all-in-one printer, and its working fine. yay!
But now PS CS2 crashes on opening.
Just Photoshop - everything else is fine - Illustrator, GoLive, InDesign, Safari, Mail, etc.
    I have a MacPro running OSX 10.4.11
    I have other Epson things - 2 printers (C88 and 2200) and a scanner (1240U), and they've never been a problem.
The C88 printer died (I jammed paper in it, then had to rip it out, which messed up the print heads and all - otherwise it still 'worked', it was just all wonky), which is why I replaced it with this new Workforce 323.
I was on the phone with Epson support and they had no clue about the PS issue.
I had some guy online on "Just Ask" walk me through uninstalling drivers, etc. - also no help in the end.
    Apple didn't know either.
    So here I am.
Is this a known issue with CS2 and Epson? Do I need to upgrade CS2? Is there a patch or something?
Any help at all would be SO appreciated!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Paula

Thanks - A tech guy just left the house, and sure enough, there were some Twain driver issues. I have more than one epson device, and after deleting stuff, then downloading and installing new ones, photoshop is working. PHEW.
My system pref folder was all corrupted too - very weird. Not sure what that was all about, but that's fixed too.
    I appreciate your suggestions!
    Paula
