Photoshop CS5 Mini Bridge Annoying Beep

I have an annoying issue with the Mini Bridge in Photoshop CS5, and I believe anyone could reproduce it if you do the following:
Open Photoshop CS5.
Have the Mini Bridge palette collapsed as an icon, docked somewhere (you can simply use the "Photography" workspace to do that).
Open anything, perhaps a new document.
Click on the Mini Bridge palette icon to open the Mini Bridge. Wait until it loads.
Then click on the same Mini Bridge icon again to collapse it.
Make sure your speakers are on.
Now press Space as you would do to pan around the document. You don't have to pan, it's enough to just press Space.
You will hear a beep sound, which you usually hear when OS X tells you that you're clicking an inactive window, or typing in a window that does not accept keyboard input, or in other similar situations. The beep will sound repeatedly while you hold Space down to pan around. It will sound each and every time you press space from then on, until you interact with the document using some other tool (like drawing something with the brush tool). Then the sound no longer happens when panning again.
The problem has occasionally happened to me when using other collapsed iconic palettes as well, however, I cannot always reproduce them.
This is a small issue that doesn't affect workflow, but having to click extra tools just to get rid of the beeping sound is very annoying, enough to make me not use the Mini Bridge.
I'm running Snow Leopard.
If anyone else can reproduce the issue, please post here. I can reproduce it every single time.

>But that's still not a proper solution.
we're not in a very good situation to know what or when Adobe will respond. We know that they are aware of many bugs but since history is all we have, CS4 had only 1 update before CS5 was released and we've already had that same first quarter update. So, without any more information I can only assume that the next fix will be after CS6 is released.
I know that Adobe can't discuss future plans...... but what Adobe can and can not do is up to them. So if Adobe wanted to announce an upcoming fix they could ( and they have in the past ). I can understand keeping new product releases under wraps, but this is just a fix for something that .... well..... we have already purchased.
>Just go to Mac 'System Preferences' - 'Sound', set the volume of the error beep to minimum and forget about it.
So, yes I have had the error sound set to "funk" and on very low for quite a while, which results in a low clicking sound.
Again, I feel like I need to repeat this, I like CS5, love PS, but some things can be better, and isn't that why we are all here. It just seems odd that you can purchase something today that has bugs but can't ask the vendor when it will be fixed?
regards.

  • Photoshop CS5 with Bridge CS6?

I want to use the tool function in Bridge CS6, but it is not showing Photoshop CS5. Can I connect Photoshop CS5 to Bridge CS6 and if yes, how can it do this?
    Thanks

I just checked and tried to re-install Photoshop CS5, but the CD doesn't actually include Bridge, so I am back to square one.
Any idea how I can link the two together?
    Thanks

  • Photoshop cs6 mini bridge navigation

hi all, recently updated to cs6 - open the 'new and improved' mini bridge to much disapointment,
incs5, i had mini bridge set to have ONE navigation window, which showed thumnails and well as folders, which behaved much like in finder in the fact that i could click on a folder within the navigation window and start typing the name of another folder (on the same level) to get to it quickly, and simply hit enter to open a folder.
now i have a navigation panel (which i cannot start typing the letters of file name into, and have to scroll through a list of folders to get where i want), and a preview panel that does not show any subfolders within, only images, although i can navigate though images WITHIN a folder by typing an image name.
i can't even find where to set minibridge preferences  ( in cs5 it was under 'home') so im not sure if this customisable functionality still exists and i just cant find it, or adobe have made a very big mistake by making bridge much less time efficient only alowing navigation by clicking through folders....
anyone know how to set preferences?

Mini Bridge always requires Bridge to be active for showing the content of the Bridge files. If you start mini bridge in PS without having Bridge itself zctive a message should appear that you have to launch Bridge and also a launch button to do the task for you.
In Bridge first select the file that appears corrupted in MB and with right mouse click menu choose 'purge cache for selection'. If this is not working first try a reset of the preferences for Photoshop ( on a Mac this is restart PS with holding down shift, option and command key, should be something similar in Windows)
This might work for MB but also resets the other PS prefs to factory default so you have to set your custom wishes again. Not a big deal but you have to be aware of this :-)
Same can be done for Bridge itself with restart Bridge and holding down control key and choose reset preferences. But if your first attempt with purge cache for selection works you can choose the menu tools in Bridge and while having the folder content of the problem files in the content panel choose cache/ purge cache for folder and let it rebuild.

  • CS5 Mini Bridge Opens Images in Windows Paint

Can anyone tell me how to open images with Mini Bridge into Photoshop CS5?  I have both an XP and a Windows 7 64-bit computer.  I just downloaded the update to the CS5 program I had already installed and now when I go to open a JPEG image in Mini Bridge it opens the image in a program called Paint.  When I use Bridge itself, with the settings set to "Automatically open all supported JPEGs" it opens my JPEG images in Camera Raw (which is fine).  Do I have to reset the Preferences in order to clear everything out and start from scratch or is there another workaround that someone can tell me?
    Thanks.

Yes, that is exactly what I did.  Should I then always keep the prior version available in the computer or uninstall the earlier version before installing the upgrade version?  I don't recall having this problem in earlier versions of LR or Photoshop.
I will go ahead and reinstall both CS5 and LR3 after deactivating.  Darn I was hoping there would be a workaround, but I have no idea what the previous file associations would have been or how to change them in LR.  I sure did learn a valuable lesson though.
Thanks for all your help and guidance; it is truly appreciated.

  • Photoshop CS6: Mini Bridge's Reveal in Bridge clears Bridge Filter list

I have Bridge CS6's Filter List set to reveal jpegs,PSDs,PNGs,and Tiff files, because those are the common file types I open in Photoshop. I even turn on "Keep Filter when browsing",so I do not have to repeat in each folder.
Then later I will be in Photoshop using the handy mini-bridge. I move to a folder and decide to use the Reveal in Bridge button for a certain image. Clicking on that image does indeed reveal it in Bridge, but it also turns off all my filter selections and I have to set them again.
    Any fix for this?

Adobe needs to realize that if "as designed" results in users thinking it's a bug or otherwise not useful — then it's a bad design choice and should be revised. They need to leave options in place for people that don't agree with some of their "new" aka bad ideas.
Assuming users don't want to use Mini Bridge vertically is just ridiculous — especially since you can't dock it to the bottom in InDesign like you can in Photoshop.
And not showing folders in the thumbnail view is most unintuative thing to do here. If it's a Mini Bridge, why doesn't it behave like bridge and at least have a check box for filtering out folders or something.
Mini Bridge is kind of useless now.

  • Starting Photoshop CC/mini bridge is returning an error message

With Bridge CC open, I select Browse in Mini Bridge and receive the following: "Cannot complete the command because the extension could not be loaded"
Photoshop CS6 works fine, but this is with Photoshop CC.

    Chris Cox wrote:
Delete all the folders and plugins that you mistakenly copied from a previous version of Photoshop.
The Photoshop plugins directory in CS6 and CC is only for third party plugins.
So, your saying that the `plugins' directory is supposed to be empty on a new install of cc?
Do you happen to know where mini bridge loads from?  When I have bridge cc running and open a photo in PScc from bridge, then when I hit 'File/Browse in mini bridge', I get a small dialog box telling me the mini-bridge extension is not installed.
If it were installed, where whould the launch file be?  Can the alleged extension be gotten hold of anywhere?

  • Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5

I recently purchased a new PC and transferred Photoshop CS5 from my old PC to the new PC via PCmover Professional and a Laplink USB cable attached to both PC's. The transfer appeared to work without a hitch until I tried to open Bridge CS5 from within Photoshop CS5 without success. I then opened Bridge separately  which worked fine but I cannot open any of my photos in Bridge to edit them. What can I do to fix this problem?

I am not a PC expert, but I think most users would highly recommend a clean install rather than a copied one.
CS5 installs in numerous directories on the C drive and it may not get all the directories copied.
I would uninstall and install from the disk or the copy you hopefully saved of the download.
Be sure to deactivate you old copy also.

  • Photoshop CS5 Issue - Very Annoying

    Hello all,
I'm having a very weird (and needless to say, very annoying) issue with my Photoshop CS5 Extended. Any knowledge or help would be highly appreciated. FYI - I'm photographer so my primary use is image editing.
Basically, every time I make a change to a layer (apply a filter or change blending modes), Photoshop does not reflect those changes unless I hit Ctrl+S to save or perform another action (such as selecting a different tool from the tool-set). For example, consider this scenario:
    - I open a PSD file that only contains a background layer.
    - I duplicate the background layer
    - I change the blending mode to "Multiply"
    - Nothing happens to the image (no visual changes even though the image should have gotten darker)
    - Now if I hit Ctrl+S to save the document, the screen is refreshed and now I see the changes.
I have no idea what might be causing this. I have the latest 12.0.1 patch installed. I have gone through my preferences to see if something needs to be checked but to no avail.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    FYI - I'm running this on Windows 7 - 64-bit
    Thanks
    -ali

That can be a good workaround, but be aware that some things won't work...  For example, you won't be able to see a preview of your brush hardness using the Alt-right mouse button brush gestures.  And of course zoom won't be smooth, and pans won't flip with inertia (big whoop).  If you have Extended you may not find the 3D features as usable.
What I'd do if I were you is do some searches for people using your specific video card and see if any of them have found any older drivers that work better.  Then bug nVidia to fix their drivers.
Alternatively, a really fine video card with huge speed and memory can be had nowadays for a hundred bucks.

  • Uninstall Bridge CS5.1 or Photoshop CS5 w Bridge in Windows

How can I uninstall Bridge CS5.1?  I have tried to uninstall it everyway I know and all I get are error messanges stating that I cannot uninstall bridge or Photoshop CS5 because I get the error message that the file is open in another application and so cannot be deleted!  I closed everything and still cannot delete or uninstall either program.  I have tried renaming it etc....  I have even tried using administrator override and still cannot delete it. Any help would be appreciated.

…In fact, if CS6 is an upgrade, you may need to keep CS5 activated on the same system in order for the upgrade to work…
That is absolutely NOT the case.  All Adobe upgrades are FULL INSTALLERS.  They will always install the full version without regard to any previous version(s) you may or may not have on your disk.  They do not build on older components, they install the entire new version from scratch.  They leave older versions completely untouched.
The only thing they do in regards to an older version—whether that older version is activated or not—is to read the older serial number.  If they find no prior versions on disk, they will simply prompt you for the old serial number as well as the nwew one.

  • Photoshop cc mini bridge

is bij CC ook de mini bridge beschikbaar ?

Photoshop CC has a mini bridge. CC 2014 has no mini bridge.

  • CS5 Mini Bridge Panel

Well Mini Bridge sorta works for me?
    http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/1139/minibridge.png
When I drag the panel with the mouse it's fine, but when I let go it goes blank.
    Windows XP SP3
    Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13ghz
    2.00 GB RAM
    Nvidia Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI

A colleague has the exact same monitor as me.
I loaded back in the original ICC profile for the monitor on my computer.
And on my colleagues computer it works fine, you can toggle that button all you like,.
But on my computer it makes the panels go blank.
So probably not an Adobe bug, but a setting on my computer somewhere.

  • In Photoshop CS5, using Bridge, I will not be able to open a psd image from RAW, due to memory

I open 25mb photos from Bridge CS5, make adjustments in RAW, then open them in Photoshop to apply filters & masks etc.. Once opened in Photoshop, I can work with a multi layered 200mb psd file without any issues.
However, after closing it, then opening another image in RAW, adjusting it, then opening that image in Photoshop, I will suddenly get an error message saying Not enough memory (RAM), even though this is a far smaller file (26mb), than the psd file I just had opened earlier (200mb).
I can work for a while without problems, then suddenly I start to get the error messages, even though I have closed all my other programs, & all other files.
I have also regularly cleaned out my temp files.
I don't know much about hardware, but asked for a fast machine that could handle editing of large hi-res still photos, running the Adobe Standard suite.
I only work with still photos from photoshoots, or layouts in InDesign & Illustrator. I don't do any 3D or animation, or run any games, so I was told the PC & graphics card I bought would handle what I do.
I have set my Prefs in Photoshop Performance at the higher end of 'the ideal range'.
I have a brand new PC & Windows 7 & have only had it for 3 months, but only work on it 3 days a week so shouldn't need much defragging:
    i7 - 860 CPU,
    4GB DDR3 1333MHZ (2x2GB) RAM
    500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD
ATI Radeon   4550 512MB PCle Graphics
I thought I should get 4GB more RAM but my computer boffin friend says that won't make a difference - as he checked my CPU usage in Task Manager & it is handling it. He thinks I might need a bigger Graphics Card, but he's not sure.
Does anyone know why I get the error messages? Will a better graphics card fix it, or there something else I need to reset, or do I have to put up with having to clean out temp files, shut down totally, then reboot, every 2 hours?
    Thanks,
    Gerooster.

Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

  • Can I enlarge the text and/or icons in Photoshop CS5 or Bridge CS5?

My sight is poo rand I'd like to make the text and icons larger in Photoshop and Bridge CS5.  Can it be done?  I have a 27" monitor.

That is a problem then.  I can adjust my text sizes in the palette titles, menus, title bars etc. in windows and it has had the desired effect in CS and CC.  There is a problem with the text size in CC 2014 however that many are experiencing including myself.  I still use CC most of the time because of the bug.  Although I'm running 8.1, adjusting the text size in 8.0 and 7 worked just the same with renditions of Photoshop prior to 2014.
    Good luck.

  • Color problems in photoshop cs5 and bridge

Recently, whenever I open images in photoshop or view them in Bridge, they look desaturated. In Bridge, they load normal at first but after a couple of seconds, they become desaturated and I can't figure out what the problem is. I have all of the same color management settings as before, the only difference on my computer since the colors stopped working was that my computer installed windows updates. The images look fine when viewing them in the Windows viewer, and in other programs like ACDSee, etc. It only looks like this in Adobe programs. I checked in Bridge under Creative Suite color settings, and it is under North America General Purpose 2. In Photoshop, I checked color settings, and all of them are marked as convert to working rgb, cmyk, etc. Any suggestions?

The monitor color profile tells Photoshop and the other color managed programs how your monitor displays colors. Color profile files are installed by putting them in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color. Then to assign or confirm a color profile for your monitor, you use the Color Management control panel. Under the Devices tab  when 'Use my settings for this device" is checked, the color profile currently in used is the one which name ends with (default). For example 'Dell U2410 color Profile, D650 (default)'.
You can download the color profile for you monitor from here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R279694&formatcnt=0&libi d=0&fileid=413637
    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R279694&formatcnt=0&libi d=0&fileid=413637
it downloads a .exe file which is simply a decompressor like .zip files. Run it, and in the folder you will find a file with the name DELL-U2410.icm - his is your monitor color profile from Dell. However most likely Windows has already installed it for you.
Now, given  your situation, you may have these eventual problems.
    First problem.
Your monitor is a wide gamut monitor 102% of NTSC and Windows defaults at sRGB which is about 70% fo NTSC. NTSC is a color space representing the visible spectrum and is used in monitor specs for measuring the gamut.
Assuming that for some time you didn't use a color profile which more closely represents your monitor, Photoshop was displaying images on your wide gamut monitor using the default sRGB color profile which represent standard gamut sRGB monitors and this is very different from yours. Said in other words you were seeing one thing on your monitor while Photoshop was assuming it is another thing. This becomes a problem when you convert from one color space to another and display or reproduce the image on other devices, and in your case when monitor profile is changed to a very different one. To fix this you have to assign your correct monitor profile to the images that were created with the wrong profile and then convert to a common color space like sRGB, AdobeRGB, etc. Assign and Convert to profiles are in the Edit menu.
    Second problem.
The color profile from Dell may not be representing correctly how your monitor displays colors. Dell creates a profile that is not measured to your particular unit but for what they assume is an average representation of the monitor's model. Using it, you depend entirely on luck. I have u2711 and I was very unlucky. If you are curious you can study my case which may be also very educational for you and will be able to see clearly the difference between the colors of my monitor and those the Dell color profile represents. Follow the same instructions above for downloading the color profile for your monitor but download the one for u2711 from here
    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?releaseid=R247058&formatcnt=1&libi d=0&fileid=365277
then go to that web site from your link http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm and download my color profile that I'm sharing there. It is 'Dell U2711 Spyder 3 + Color Eyes DP   User' once you have the color profiles files on you computer, go to this site http://www.iccview.de/content/view/3/7/lang,en/  , upload my monitor profile and the one from Dell and compare. That web site will give a 3D plot of two color spaces in a 3D viewer that you can navigate to see it from all sides (using the Ctrl, Shift navigates faster). The difference that you see made it impossible to create even simple images for the web using Photoshop. I convert from AdobeRGB to sRGB and when Photshop assumes that my monitor displays colors the way they are described in the Dell's profile, all detail in the shadows is eliminated and my images look like crap. I even got better results from creating a profile using this free software http://www.calibrize.com/ it uses the so call eyeometer relying on your eyes for feedback and although the colors were noticeably off, at least the shadow detail was preserved.
    Hope that helps

  • CS5 + Mini Bridge

On a Mac, OS 10.6.7 using ID CS5. Odd behavior in MiniBridge. If I try selecting a file or multiple files for dragging into my ID document, a single mouse click on the file opens the image in Photoshop. It didn't do this originally - actually let me select multiple files for placing. If this is a preference setting I haven't been able to find it. Wanted to ask before I go about trashing my preferences.

You have to provide exact system information. What version of OSX? What Mac? What are your preferences? Workspaces? Lots of tiny details...
