Photoshop/Flash

New to flash. I'm editing a flash web template and there are
some.bmp files within the movie. Its looks like they come from
Photoshop as .psd files. My question is two fold; does Flash use
the .psd file and during importing does it compress and covert it
to .bmp? If it works that way, how can you tell, when opening
Photoshop which part of the page layout its using. I notice when I
open the .psd file, its the entire page on each of the .bmp files
contained in the movie. Thanks

Pete, BMP and PNG are about the same as far lossless formats
go. The big advantage that most would state on PNG is the
transparency but I rarely use this feature since it doesn't give an
accurate depiction of the outline of the object when doing
collision detection (usually very important for games). Transparent
pixels still show up as pixels so the biggest advantage of PNG
becomes less of an issue. Another reason I use BMP is out of habit
because although Photoshop has supported PNG for many years, some
of the other programs didn't until more recently (like Corel
Painter which didn't have PNG support when it was owned by Fractal
Design or MetaCreations).
I would not presume to dispute the value of the PNG format,
I'm just saying that I am not totally insane for still using BMPs

Hi!
I'm completely new to Flash but I've been trying to edit the
Flash gallery 1 included in Photoshop CS2. What I like to do is to
make links from the title in the head. I figured out how I can copy
the code for the email field that already exists. But I cant really
understand how I change it so it works on a webpage instead of an
email.

A better approach wuld be to use more up to date embedding code, though I cannot say whether the js file is written specifically for this Flash application such that it includes code that talks to the Flash file.

Is the HP TouchSmart tm2-1010ea Notebook PC good for a web designer? Photoshop/Flash/Dreamweaver

Thinking of buying the touchsmart tm2-1010ea would this run photoshop, flash and dreamweaver ok?

What are it's specifications ? Specifically the speed of the processor and the rpm's of the hard drive. How much ram does it have ?
If the laptop is 64 bit, it should have at least 4 GB of ram. The hard drive RPM should be 7200, 5400 RPM will work, but that's a bit slow. Processor should be at least duel core at not less then 2.00 Ghz.
There are no specs. listed on the site so you will have to look them up your self.

Removing code from a javascript file-i.e. Photoshop Flash Web Gallery

Hi There, I have a question about the Photoshop Flash Gallery, particularly the flashobject.js file and index.html file. Whenever I try and open the finished Flash Gallery HTML page, I get a message that says "Please upgrade your Flash player" and "Already have Flash player installed? Click Here." Is there a way that I can remove that and just have it go to the Flash Gallery? I notice that it says Flash Player 6 but that is an old version. I am not very knowledgeable in javascript so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Bturko in the future only migrate/copy/transfer your documents and settings. Adobe applications especially are not designed to be transferred from one computer to another. It is possible to recover however. I would recommend the following steps:
Run the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Run the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure complete removal - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
If you need to download a fresh copy of the installation files they can be downloaded at Download CS3 products.
Run the installer and reinstall Creative Suite 3.

Will they run OK? Yes. They will not however run at their full potential, as Rosetta translation causes a 10-15% performance hit. Universal binaries are schedule for release in the next quarter, however. Having said that, the extra performance of the Intel iMacs make up for it. This shows that Final Cut Pro, running via Rosetta, is still 50% faster on the Intel iMac than on a G5 iMac.
Therefore, even at present applications will run faster on the new machine.

If you are purchasing a new MBA it would be worth paying the extra $100 for 8 GB of RAM. If you are purchasing a used MBA then 4 GB of RAM meets or surpasses the minimum memory requirements listed above but should you start composing or editing more complex objects/scenes you would notice a difference.

Photoshop flash photo gallery

I downloaded the source files for the Flash Web Photo
Gallery-1 from the Adobe site, and exported the fla file without
any changes to flash 6.0 which should be the same as the one that
comes with photoshop. When I loaded the page into the browser, the
header text did not load (Gallery name, Photographer, etc.). There
is also a problem with the meta data that shows up when you hover
over the picture or click the info button. The size of the lines is
reduced to about 3 pixels.
My main reason for all this is to stop showing the meta data
when the mouse is over the picture and limit it only to prssing the
info button. I am not very good in flash, but I found the place
where this happens and I commented the fadein fadeout functions. I
got the result I wanted but with these problems.
Is there a way to fix this?

el.lucky.lucasik, the xml files have specific settings that
you can change. The photos.xml file includes the meta tags that
appear on the pictures. If you delete all the meta tags, the file
name appears.
The setting I want to change is in the ActionScript. I did
the change, and was able to get what I wanted. BUT, when I exported
the .fla file, there were some issues, mainly those mentioned in my
initial post.
My problem now is not changing the settings, but exporting
the file.

One last thing... I have seen a post that states that future versions of CS are 64-bit. That may only apply to some
RAM intensive apps like After Effects and Premiere and the optional 64-bit version of Photoshop.
Also, have you tried running the installer as Administrator? That may solve the issue.

All fonts NOT loading in Photoshop, Flash, etc.

I have installed a mass amount of fonts (around 2000) on this computere and for some reason Photoshop and Flash only read up to the end of letter G. It doesn't even list standard fonts anymore if their names start after the letter G. I have tried many things including clearing my font cache, removing all Photoshop files and reinstalling it, etc and nothing seems to be working. Does anybody have any ideas?

For a specialized question like this it is best to start a new topic, rather than tag onto something discussing the problems of large numbers of fonts in Adobe apps.
OS X comes with the font Devanagari MT, which should also work for Sanskrit, although there are some special conjuncts it probably cannot do. No other font can do them either, however.

The font Lucida Grande probably contains everything needed for Latin transcription of Sanskrit, though there are probably others you could use like Charis SIL or Doulos SIL.

Photoshop/flash/dreamweaver website!! Help!

Ive been trying an alternative for building webpages, ive
started to do one in photoshop. i have the design and everything
sorted and i have sliced the image and saved as html and the image
slices. i open it all up in dreamweaver and make some of the images
background because i want to add a flash logo to this. but even
when i delete some slices and re-add them as the background i
cannot add text or flash anywhere. well i can and it appears on my
work but when i preview it theres nothing there except the
photoshop design.
i dont understand wot is going on and what i am doing wrong,
i am a trainee web designer so im probably making a easy mistake
but someone help plz as soon as possible!!

Chris has been kind enough to allow me to use a copy of
SiteGrinder. I have
found it to be quite good at the pages it generates, and
while I wouldn't
use it for my own sites, if you are interested in just
building pages
without learning HTML and CSS, you can get by with something
like this.
And, yes, it does produce MUCH better markup than IR or
FW....

Parent the layers to a Null, spread them out in a circle. Rotate the Null. Set the auto-orient of the layers to always face the camera.

Photoshop flash panel: Get selected tool?

I'm trying to make a custom toolbar (in Flex) which shows some of the tools
as buttons (amongst other things). I'd like to query the chosen tool somehow
so I can change the related button's style to reflect that.
First I thought that it will work like getting the background color of the application,
but after reading through the JS reference guide, I saw no relevant properties or
methods.
I also looked at how Configurator does it, but the .gpc and .jsx files weren't very
helpful. As a related note: Configurator's tool buttons look and behave exactly
like the PS "originals". Is it possible to reproduce that in Flex?

we had two machines re-imaged and after reloading the CS3 and the key it baulks about too many activations this is a volume license. This product is no longer supported, how can I get my key to work and activate the CS3 Suite

If you have a volume license make sure you are downloading the applications thru the volume licensing site and not from the general public one. Adobe Licensing Website | Serial numbers | Orders | Accounts
