Photoshop opens dialog box when trying to fill a layer with transparent pixels locked

This script should set the layer to lock transparent pixels, and then fill the layer with a color. It does that, except when it gets to the fill stage, it opens the fill dialog box, and you have to hit okay.
If you omit the transparent pixel line, it runs as expected, no dialog box.
Is there a way to suppress the box? Or am I doing something wrong that's causing the box to open?
#target photoshop
app.bringToFront();
doc = app.activeDocument;
doc.artLayers[0].isBackgroundLayer = false;
doc.artLayers[0].transparentPixelsLocked = true;
app.activeDocument.selection.fill(app.foregroundColor);

Not sure why that happens.
But I would recommend foregoing the locking and using the AM code for a Fill that honours the transparency.
#target photoshop
app.bringToFront();
doc = app.activeDocument;
doc.artLayers[0].isBackgroundLayer = false;
doc.activeLayer = doc.artLayers[0];

  • No dialog box when trying to export

    Running Aperture version 3.4.3 and it's been awhile since I've loaded or edited any photos. But, when I try to export, I'm not getting any dialog box. I do a File/Export/Version and the word File on the menu stays highlighted for a moment, then goes away with no dialog box popping up. I opened up the preset box and clicked ok again, just to see if that made a difference. I've chosen all three of the rebuild options, but nothing seems to make a difference. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Okay, I've reinstalled mountain lion, reinstalled aperture, moved libraries forcing aperture to make me choose the library or create a new one. I've done both. After creating a new one, I tried to import my existing library. Again, nothing happens. I've never used console before, but the data below is recorded whenever I try to export an image from aperture.

  • I no longer get the dialog box when trying to delete rejected photos.

    I have always used the Delete Rejected Photos. . . selection to get rid of the photos I have flagged as rejected. However, after the rejected photos are shown, the dialog box no longer appears with the option to Delete from Disc or to Remove from the LR Catalog. I don't know if this problem began with LR 3.4 or before, but the timing was close. It isn't that I don't know how to use the function because I have been using it for years. Any help would be appreciated.

    Since I had 358 photos out of almost 2800 flagged as 'rejected' I did not
    want to loose all my work. I selected the rejected photos and then flagged
    them all with a 'yellow' color. I then displayed all photos with a yellow
    flag and 'Un-rejected' them. I highlighted a small amount of them, about 30,
    and rejected them and then went to the Delete Rejected photos. the pop-up
    came up and I was able to delete them. Since the rest of my yellow flagged
    photos were still showing I rejected another chunk of them and so on till
    they were all deleted. When trying to delete a group that had published
    photos within I got a box warning me that if I deleted them the published
    ones could no longer be managed by LR. That is alright with me. It would be
    nice if the software would somehow flag those that had been published. All
    the dialog box said was that one or more of the group had been published. I
    did not know which.
    Thanks again for expert help!

  • Problem with webutil file dialog box when trying to save/open

    Approximately 12 months ago we had this same issue and I think we managed to resolve it with a one off patch. Were getting it on another site now so any info will be much appreicated.
    Basically when using webutil file chooser Client_Get_File_Name to upload/download something to/from the database it works sporadically.
    When we choose a location to upload from or download to. we then click the buttonon the webutil file chooser and the box disapears without doing anything. Sometimes it works ok but i cant find any pattern to it working/not working
    Has anyone else experienced these problems?

    i found it
    patch 6127521

  • No MobileMe dialog box when trying to upload album to MMe Gallery

    I am trying to publish some of my albums in iPhoto09 to MobileMe. When I click on the MobileMe button on the bottom right, or select the "Share" --> "MobileMe" menu option, it does nothing. Clicking on the Flickr and Facebook buttons do come up with dropdown input boxes like the MobileMe prompt should do.
    I also use Aperture for other projects and those work with creating/updating MobileMe galleries to the same MMe account just fine. I also have a Picasa plugin installed for iPhoto09, and exports there work fine too.
    I have been reading through other posts and see some with similar problems, but can't get their solutions to work. I also contacted MMe support with no luck. I have tried:
    -removing/reinstalling iP09, updating to newest software level
    -Signing out and back in to MMe through the MMe system preference pane
    -removing the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file in my username/Library/Preferences/ directory.
    -Restarting iP09
    -Rebooting mac
    After reboot and starting iPhoto, I got popups like I did the first time I started iPhoto (from removing the .plist file) but still no luck.
    Any thoughts? Could my use of Aperture 2 or Picasa plugin affect the MMe portion of iPhoto?

    Try this, open the iPhoto Preferences.
    Click "Web".
    Do you see a section at the bottom labeled "iDisk Usage for 'your MM username'"?
    If not, then iPhoto does not think you have a MM account and that is why you are not getting the pop-up. You have tried everything I would have suggested. But at least we have narrowed it down a bit.
    As for the MM Preference pane, I would suggest this sequence of events:
    Sign Out of your MM account.
    Close Preferences.
    Reboot the Mac
    Open MM Prefs
    Sign back in.
    Now check iPhoto's Prefs to see if it 'sees' your account yet. Cheers!

  • 2 "Deskop" icons on my "Open" dialog box

    Hi all,
    i don't remember what i did to cause the problem.. it appears that there are 2 "Desktop" icons on my "Open" dialog box when i try to open a file in a software (e.g. open up a web page in Safari). one of the "Desktop" icons is linking to my desktop; while the other one doesn't link to anywhere.... please have a look at the following image...
    http://kwok.50webs.com/Untitled-1.gif
    i've tried to open up something with other softwares like Quicktime and textedit, but the problem was still there.... is there a way to remove the second "Desktop" icon from the dialog box?
    thx in advance..
    MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi k w o k,
    Your link gives me a "403 Forbidden" in Safari.
    But I don't need the picture, your words are descriptive enough. Try this:
    1. Drag all Desktop icons off your Finder sidebar.
    2. In Finder >> Preferences >> Sidebar UNcheck all options.
    3. navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    Then log out and back in again. Or restart.
    (You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • Regarding open dialog box

    how do we call an open dialog box when i press F4 in text field to select a file in the hard disk and the selected filename should be placed in the text field

    hi
    use the function module <b>F4_FILENAME</b>
    example code:
    DATA: REPID LIKE SY-REPID.
      CALL FUNCTION 'F4_FILENAME'
        EXPORTING
          PROGRAM_NAME  = REPID
          DYNPRO_NUMBER = SY-DYNNR

  • Photoshop crashes with open dialog box on Windows 8.1

    I just upgraded from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1. I have Photoshop CC, I also have Photoshop Elements installed. On occasion, Photoshop CC hangs when using the open dialog box. It then crashes explorer. The only way to resolve it is to restart the PC.
    Has anyone seen this behavior. I do not have any logs as of now.
    Thanks,
    Bill Byrnes

    I don't know if this is helpful or exactly on topic with this thread... but I have to share somewhere...
    I've been dealing this problem for months and I finally fixed it on my own.
    My Antivirus, AVG, which is great, except for this glitch, was the root cause of the issue.
    History:  If I right-clicked a file in my Save/Open Dialogue Photoshop (CS6 Extended) would crash.. for the last few months, actually...  If I avoided right-clicking I'm ok, but my instincts are to organize, rename, etc. while in the save/open pop-up window ... So I've often crashed Photoshop when all I do is right-click on a file in the list of files...
    Well, I figured out the cause of the glitch:
    "Permanently Shred with AVG” .. this option, added without my knowledge during an AVG update, was added around the same time this problem started (realizing this in hindsight).. THIS was conflicting with my Adobe Photoshop file explorer window in the Save/Open dialogue!!! After months of trying to figure this out, this is definitely the solution.
    Once I turned that AVG Shell Extenstion off.... I am now able to right-click files in Photoshop save/open pop-up window again without it crashing…  finally !!!!
    ...hope this helps folks even if it's just a related clue to other issues....
    Basically ,run command prompt as Administrator, then type:
    For 32-bit :  regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG2014\avgse.dll”
    For 64-bit:   regsvr32 /u “C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG2014\avgse.dll”
    I found this info about turning off  "Permanently Shred with AVG" option at this link:
    http://techdows.com/2013/09/avg-2014-how-to-remove-permanently-shred-with-avg-option-from- context-menu.html#comment-21176

    The first error has nothing to do with Photoshop - that's some .NET application.
    The second error is most likely connected to a third party plugin or driver.
    And you're running Photoshop CC (14.x) instead of the current Photoshop CC 2014 (15.x).

  • Odd thing happening to my Open dialog box in Photoshop

    I use Photoshop under Mac OS 10.6.8, and every time I bring up the Open dialog box, the file window (which is always set to List View) has the Name column all scrunched up to the point where all the filenames are mostly hidden. I have to expand the column every time to see what I'm doing. Photoshop is supposed to remember your window settings, but it doesn't for me. The next time I bring up the Open dialog box, the Name column is all scrunched up again. It only does this with the Open box; not the Save box. And it only happens with Photoshop, and only one this one computer. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Photoshop, or the OS, or some third party thing. Anyone have any ideas?

    It has everything to do with that thick black arrow on which you wrote RRRGH!

  • File open dialog box broken in all apps! ( 10.5.6/7

    Hi, I've got a very odd problem that Apple phone support seem to be unable to solve.
    Basically, every file open dialog box system wide is broken, from file->open in textedit to the browse button on websites for uploading files.
    When trying to display this finder panel, it beachballs for ten seconds then gives me a grey area where the usual finder browser usually resides and the open / cancel buttons at the bottom of the panel.
    I've repaired permissions which had no effect.
    The finder works perfectly other than it's little file open dialog which other applications use...
    Updating to 10.5.7 did nothing to fix the issue.
    Does anybody have any idea how to resolve this?
    Thanks!
    chris.

    V.K. had you create another user to eliminate the possibility that it is a preference file causing the problem. It was reported the problem remained with another user, so the problem is system wide, not with a single user's preferences.
    The Archive & Install is relatively painless. It only replaces the system and leaves everything else untouched. What is replaced is saved in a new folder it creates named Previous System, in case there is something there you might want to bring back (most often 3rd party files, but I have never needed anything from the Previous System folder).
    The only hassle with the A & I is resetting preferences. If you check the option during the A & I to retain user settings, there is usually not very much that needs resetting.

  • Open dialog box issue

    When invoking the "open" command on AI or any of the CS3 app for that matter, on its window I get my 3 drives, network (wife's system) and MY OWN computer's name on the sidebar. What I mean is that Marcos' G5 appears too, when clicked it shows to the right my 3 drives and network again, what's the purpose of this? Aren't the drives on the side bar already? I would like to get rid of this repetition or bug (perhaps), my own computer on the open dialog box, am I missing a setting somewhere? anyone?
    It only happens with CS3 apps.

    Jean, I did trashed it :).
    Scott, holy macaroni, i knew it was something stupid, that did it!, never thought the open dialog box would behave the same way, trashing prefs anyways to start clean.
    Now that is out of the way, on the same open dialog box at the bottom of the sidebar I see the "media" folder and that one can not be moved by dragging, and is marked to not show on Finder prefs, not a big deal but can it be out of there? I'm just trying to simplify.
    Thanks again Scott :)

  • Open dialog box in application server.

    hai frnds,
    i am using the following FM for open dialog box in application.
      CALL FUNCTION 'F4_DXFILENAME_TOPRECURSION'
        EXPORTING
          i_location_flag = 'A'
          i_server = '?'

        ABEND_FLAG =
        EXCEPTIONS
          rfc_error = 1
          OTHERS = 2.
    the path is been copied to the input box but when i am trying to open the file selected it is not retrieving the data and also the given path is changed to upper case. i had tried to change it in start of selection. but the same is hapenning. also my client requested some of the following...
    1) the dialog should open at '//sapglobal_users'
    2) the files should be sorted in desc group by date and time of creation.
    3) the full path name should be visible in the dialog box which is not hapenning (i.e., if the path is > the visible length the invisible part is truncated. This shd not happen.)

  • Open dialog box freezes

    on my dual 2.0 power mac G5, every time i bring up a standard open dialog box in any application, the finder freezes, and i have to relaunch it. this only started happening after i installed the 10.4.7 update.
    i tried switching to another volume with a separate installation of os x, and everything was working fine, but as soon as i upgraded to 10.4.7, it started happening there, too. this is becoming a real problem, because it's a real pain to have to open all of my files directly from the finder.
    has this happened to anyone else? is there a firmware update or something else that i need to install?

    UPDATE:
    i have diagnosed the problem further, and the issue appears to center around loading file metadata, because i have the exact same issue when i ctrl-click a file and select "get info".
    the problem also goes away in the open dialog when i choose list view.
