Photostream and Mail cannot connect to iCloud

My Apple ID and password both of which I KNOW are correct will not allow me to access iCloud!!
Got any answers?

Thanks pvonk.
You're correct about signing in with System Preferences. Drop box sign-in on System Preferences asks for ID Password which I have reset on numerous occasions.  I have just reset it yet again.  On entering password I get a timer circle constantly to right of the password box.  Nothing further happens.

  • Mail cannot connect to iCloud - restart every time necessary

    Hello,
I have problem with iCloud and Mail. I have a MacBook Air and I always shut down my computer by putting down the screen.
Since a few weeks, whenever I restart the computer by putting up the screen, the Mail-App cannot connect to iCloud. It can connect to another exchange-mail server. I have to close Mail and reopen it again to get my mails from iCloud.
    Does anyone knows a fix?
    Best,
    Matthias

In System Preferences > iCloud > uncheck sync to Mail.
If you have other email account go to System Preferences Internet Accounts and uncheck sync to Mail
Go to your User's Library.  How to view the User’s Library folder
    1) Go to Containers in the User's Library folder. Delete the com.apple.mail folder.
    2) Go to the Mail folder. Rename the Mail folder to MailXX
    3) Go to Preferences in the User's Library folder.
If you find any com.apple.mail.plist files, delete these.
Log out under the Apple in the Menu bar
    Log in
Open Mail. It will open in an empty Mail with no accounts. Add one account at a time and verify before adding a second email account.
Let me know if this helps. If you have messages saved under "On My Mac" we can import those into the new Identity. We'll go over those detail after we get your iCloud account working.
We can rename MailXX to revert if needed.

  • Mail cannot connect to iCloud account

    Hi,
My Mail client stopped connecting to iCloud all of a sudden this morning.
It has been set up a while ago and always worked fine.
Now it shows the broken connection icon, and when I click on it it asks for my iCloud password.
I enter the correct password and click OK, and nothing happens. The broken connection icon remain and I do not receive new e-mail and cannot send emails.
I am certain this is the right password as I can log into iCloud webmail, and my iphone and ipad remained connected.
How can I solve this frustrating issue?
Is there something wrong with the iCloud server, or is there something I can do?

    Just to be clear.
AIM stands for AOL Instant Message.  So an AIM Password is an AOL Instant Message password.
An Apple ID issued by Apple (@mac.com and iCloud issued @me.com and @icloud.com  ending IDs) can also be valid AIM Screen Names
In the past the password at Apple had to comply with the AIM limit of 16 characters.
I have seen a recent post that suggests that this limit may have changed.
Try logging in here if the Name was registered at AIM or is an @mac.com name
    https://settings.aim.com/
(You cannot log in here with an @iCloud.com or @me.com ending ID as there are addtional checks in iChat 6 and upwards that invloved logins to both Apple And AIM at the same time to confirm access to the password).

  • I updated to mountain lion and now mail cannot connect to my server

I updated to mountain lion and now mail cannot connect to my server.  It says check your user name and password are correct.  Well they are, and were.  Nothing has changed except the mac OS.
Has anyone else suffered this and knows a way around it?  Too annoying to log into my mail every 15mins via a web page anymore.
Efforts tried to resolve this so far:
retyped user name and password, removed account and created a new account, restarted computer, software update, searched forums.  so far all have proved unsuccessful.
I have also written to my mail provider and am waiting for feed back from them, but if anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received.
    Many thanks,
    Mike

Many users upgrading to Mountain Lion have run into this problem, myself included.  You likely have corrupted settings for your  "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" for each of the failed Accounts.  Open Mail>go to Mail's Preferences>Accounts>select an Account in the left column to work on>then set up your Outgoing Mail Server which will INCLUDE resetting up your Password, as its asking you to.  Click on "SMTP Outgoing Mail Server" near the bottom of the Accounts window while your mail account is highlighted in the left hand column.  When you click on SMTP... you will see a drop down box icon offered at the right side of the line.  Click it and then select at the bottom of the the list "Edit SMTP Mail Server".  Fill in the required settings for your ISP mail account using their recommended settings.

  • Changed apple-ID password - cannot connect to icloud via macbook air but it works on iphone and itunes..

My Ipad got stolen soon after i updated in to ios7.
the idiot i am, i did not activate find my ipad, so i changed all my passwords, including the apple-id.
now i have the following problem:
on my iphone, everything works as usual.
however, i cannot connect to icloud via my macbook air, if i type in my password (and trust me i have already changed it a few times, it always works on the phone but not on the macbook) i get the following message: "Sie konnten aufgrund eines Kommunikationsproblems mit iCloud nicht angemeldet werden." which means more or less that i could not connect to icloud due to a communication problem.
does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
    thank you!

  • Mac cannot connect to iCloud because of a problem with my iCloud account

I keep getting the following message when opening my email....mac cannot connect to iCloud because of a problem with my iCloud account.

I have another kind of message. I am connected perfectly to iCloud but receive this every hour or so : "This Mac cannot connect to iCloud due to a problem with "address mail" of said account.
    But :
    1. I AM connected
    2. When I open i Cloud prefs it asks me to type my iCloud details (email address and password), then it says iCloud is in fac ALREADY open.
    3. When reading troubleshoot doc Carolyne linked to, I read this :
Close and reopen iCloud preferences before attempting to sign in to iCloud again.
If that does not resolve the issue, check your email folder and Junk folder for a verification email sent from Apple.
If there is no verification email in your email folder or Junk folder, click the Resend Verification Email button in iCloud preferences.
    My comments :
    - How can I close iCloud ? Document doesn't say. By clicking the "—" sign in iCloud prefs ???
    - I cannot see any "Verification Email button in iCloud.
    I'm on Yosemite…

  • Contacts on iPhone and iPad not connecting to iCloud

Just set up iCloud today to sync Contacts between MacBook, iPhone, and iPad.  Initial setup worked ok.  Now, MacBooks is working OK, but iPhone and iPad cannot connect to server.  Open Contacts app and icon on status bar at top of screen just spins (for hours).  Have tried to disable Contacts sync on iPhone, but but same behavior.  Have tried to delete iCloud account on iPad...same.  Have rebooted both devices...same.  Any suggestions?

iCloud won't sync Gmail contacts, it will only sync iCloud contacts.  If he wants to use Gmail for contacts, he should add his Gmail account to his Mac too.  If all of the contacts on his phone are not appearing on his Mac after doing this, then some of them must not belong to the Gmail account and would need to be added to his Gmail contacts.
If he wants to use iCloud to sync his Gmail contacts instead, he can copy all of his contacts to iCloud as follows:
Go to Settings>iCloud on the phone, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from Gmail and any other non-iCloud accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap Gmail and any other non-iCloud accounts and turn off contacts syncing with these accounts (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your device).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other accounts back to your device, and to iCloud.

  • Verification failed cannot connect to icloud

Trying to erase and reset my iPhone 5 (since I have activated an iPhone 6) and cannot get past the 'verification failed, cannot connect to iCloud'.  I've been receiving the same message for 5 days.

    Hello kmb1727,
To start with troubleshooting this issue where you are getting the error "Verification failed, cannot connect to iCloud," I'd like you to please go into your iPhone settings, and reset the network settings.  After that, please try to erase your iPhone.
Reset iPhone settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose an option:
Reset Network Settings:  When you reset network settings, previously used networks and VPN settings that weren’t installed by a configuration profile are removed. (To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profile, select the profile, then tap Remove. This also removes other settings or accounts provided by the profile.) Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and “Ask to Join Networks” settings remain turned on.
    Reset iPhone settings - iPhone
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Alex H.

  • Cannot connect to iCloud in preferences

With my macbook Air, I cannot connect to iCloud in preferences
Also I cannot update in the App Store. Message device or computer not verified
When I try to maintain iCloud everything looks A-OK. All devices an computers are verified.
Also I use a iPad air with the same ID an an Iphone 4s , no problems with those
In iTunes i can check my account en my computer is verified. There my ID seems OK
I swiched back from Yosemite to Mavericks but I am still without Wifi
With the also present Mini Mac everything runs fine with , yes. the same ID
What's happening that I still get thrown out ?

I have just had this problem myself with iCloud and not being able to sign in, but my macbook Pro was brand new and right out of the box. it had the OS X Lion v.10.7.4. So, I called Apple, but they said they have never heard of this, but it has happened to many, many others. the Apple people could not help me, but where I go to university there is an awesome tech program and they were able to help me out... after 2 hours though of the techies searching the internet for answers.
    SOLUTION:
be in your Finder and go to the menu bar.
open the "Go" option and go down to "Go to Folder..."
type in "~/Library/" and press enter.
then open the "Application Support" folder
    delete the "iCloud" file/folder
try signing back into iCloud under System Preferences
*this is what has worked for me anyways ... and hopefully for you too.
Also, my Safari kept quiting unexpectantly, so we installed Safari6Lion.pkg from... http://discussions.apple.com/message/19096754#19096754

  • Mail cannot connect to account....

i keep getting this message sometimes a couple times a day ?
"mail cannot connect to account ..."
and i have to re enter my password everytime?

Sometimes this problem can be cured by tidying up the Keychain, where login info is stored. You can do this by opening Keychain Access in your Utilities folder. Find the location and login info for the mail account. Delete, say, all but the most recent one. Does that fix the problem?  If not, go back and delete even the recent one. When Mail asks you for your login stuff, give it, then check the box which says to store it in the keychain.  Sometimes just doing this last step is enough to clear up the annoying login windows.
