PHP page link is trying to download instead of displaying

Hello -
I created a php login page that had User Authentication and a
Dynamic List on it. The login page was displayed when a user
clicked on a button from a previous page. At the beginning the php
login page would display correctly after pressing the button from
the earlier page, but while I was working on the login page itself
I would just display it (press F12). After I thought I was almost
done, I tried to get to the login page from the button but it
didn't work anymore! I get asked if I want to save or open the
file, then when I select Open it takes me to Dreamweaver. I have
taken out all of the connnections to the database (php code) to see
if it would make the php file show up again, but it doesn't. Can
anyone tell me what is going on here?

Sounds like you need to speak sternly to your host.

  • Need help with a simple php page link

    I have a small .php to force the download of a file when a user clicks on a link:
    <?php
    header ("Content-type:application/pdf");
    header ("Content-Disposition:attachment;filename='form.pdf'");
    readfile ("form.pdf");
    ?>
    I need to include code which will redirect the user back to the home page without opening a new browser window, either during or immediately after downloading the file. And if it's possible, prevent the browser back button to return the user to the download page.
    I tried adding this after the readfile line:  echo "<a href="mywebsite.com/index.html" /a>";
    but that failed miserably. My php knowledge is as weak as a bull moose after the mating season. Can someone help me out on this?

    If you couldn't tell whether it is AS2 or AS3, it is doubtful you can turn it from AS2 into AS3, at least not until you learn both languages.  There is no tool made that does it for you.

  • I Can t open or retreave my documents in pages since I tried to download the update

    Hello,
    Has anyone had the same problem?
    I tried to download the updates for pages, numbers and keynote and now it s impossible to open them. Even on my iPad screen they appear as if they are still uploading the update but nothing is happening. And it has been like this for the last 2 weeks. I tried turning my iPad off and then back on again... It did not change anything.
    Can someone help
    Thank

       Yes, I checked for updates and was given a message that my Firefox was updated and my Lion, too.  I get no error messages with Firefox.  It just won't work.  If I click on a video link, nothing happens, yet if I switch to Safari, it works.  I went to the Firefox website and follow directions for that--turned off proxy--yet, it still doesn't work.
         As for MS Office/Word, I get a message saying it is activated, yet it never opens.  When I try to open a document, it just keeps taking me back to the registration page where it says I don't need to register it.  It has been maddening.

  • When I click on a .pdf link, I want to download it and display it in Foxit. How can I do that?

    I used to be able to click on a .pdf link and the .pdf file would open in Foxit Reader and be saved to my download folder.
    Now, I think since refreshing Firefox, clicking a .pdf link opens the .pdf in the Firefox browser.
    How can I get .pdf links to open the .pdf in Foxit Reader, and not open in the Firefox browser??

    Hello ririri, you have to set it correct in the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/applications-panel-set-how-firefox-handles-files application panel]. See how to do that easily in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file#w_changing-download-actions Changing download actions] article.
    thank you

  • Downloads a php page as a file instead of loading and displaying

    I reset a client's .htaccess file to process .html files through php.
    As a consequence, FF downloaded instead of loading one of the html files. When I removed the .htaccess directive, this page still refused to load until I cleared my recent cache.
    I found an old, locked, 2008 thread on this bug [https://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=1&comments_threshold=0&comments_parentId=1452&comments_offset=0&comments_per_page=20&thread_style=commentStyle_plain]
    One user of this thread suggested that the problem was due to the use of UTF-8 charset. However, my page uses charset=iso-8859-1.
    This is a very simple XHTML 1.0 Strict page. The doctype is not the problem as it is character for character identical to other pages that do not exhibit this problem. The page validates through my web editor and at [http://validator.w3.org/]
    The locked thread suggested editing the profile folder and removing the ''mimetypes.rdf'' file. This is NOT a solution for a public web site. There are huge numbers of casual web users who user FireFox but would not begin to have a clue about solving this problem.
    Until this bug is fixed, I need some sort of work around that I can implement in my file on the server. Here's hoping that someone in the two years since the first posting has discovered one!!
    I didn't include a link to the affected page because I don't yet have a test web page that exhibits the problem. It appears to be random -- I copied the page to a test web site (same server, same web hosting company), set .htaccess to process through php and the page loaded fine!!!

    You have to make sure that the server sends the processed php file as text/html
    &lt;?php header('Content-Type: text/html'); ?&gt;

  • When I try to click on a download link for a .pdf file Firefox does not recognize the MIME type and tries to download the file as "index.php"

    When visiting a site I frequent I tried to download a linked .pdf file. Previously I've used Firefox 7.0.1 to download the link with no problem. Using Firefox 8 however I the browser does not recognize the .pdf link's mime type. Instead of recognizing the download link as a .pdf file Firefox 8 tries to download it as "index.php". Firefox 8 does this with .doc files and .txt files as well. When I downgrade to 7.0.1 again the problem disappears.

    Hi hakmacpace,
    I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    You could also try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=create+a+new+profile&r=2&e=es&as=s#w_creating-a-profile Creating a new profile].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I keep getting internet explorer cannot display web page when trying to download itunes. This only shows on half the page where the download link would be. My internet connection is fine.

    I keep getting internet explorer cannot display web page when trying to download itunes. This only shows on half the page where the download link would be. My internet connection is fine.  Any idea what the problem may be?

    You won't see anything obviously related to iCloud, Jimmy. But if you go to the home iTunes Store page while logged into your iTunes Store account, you should see a Purchases link now under the Quick Links header. That's the only part of iCloud active at this time.
    Regards.

  • Safari will not download, instead it opens a blank page

    Whenever I try to download a file, Safari will not trigger a download. Instead, it opens up a blank grey page. The full download address appears in the address bar, with the file name I'm trying to download at the end ( like.... http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/11.1.102.55/install_flash_p layer_osx.dmg )
    but the download never triggers. My primary Browser is Safari Version 5.0.5 (6533.21.1), but I have also tried to download using Firefox 3.6.3. which also never triggers. I'm running OS 10.6.8 on a late 2008 MBP.
    Normally, I can use the "Download linked File" function, but occasionally a website will only let me download a .html, or .php file instead. At the moment, I am trying to download the most recent Adobe Flash Player update, but its being a right mare!!! Hope someone can help me please!!

    Your Safari version is outdated (because you moved it) and probably incompatible with your Mac OS version. However, that doesn't explain the problem with Firefox.
    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. First, disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, monitor, and Ethernet, if applicable. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account that has the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, perhaps including wireless networking on certain Macs. If you usually connect to the Internet via WiFi, and it doesn’t wohrk in safe mode, connect using an Ethernet cable. If you can’t do that, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and perform a safe login, as follows: Enter your credentials at the login screen, then hold down the shift key and click the “Log in” button. Keep holding the key until the menu bar appears. In this mode, your login items, among other things, won’t load.
    In safe mode, test again. Same problem(s) now?
    After testing, reboot (if you booted in safe mode) or log out/log in (if you performed a safe login) as usual.

    Hi Demo,
    Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
    I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
    My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
    The iPad is first generation

  • I am trying to download iTunes, but cannot save the file because the thank you page comes up right away.

    I am trying to download itunes 11.1.3.
    I cannot save the file,ItunesSetup.exe.
    I click on Save File and nothing happens, I use XP.  The thank you page comes up right away

    I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Download page doesn't have a download link

    I've gone to: http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/#download
    The download button on the page just jumps to the bottom of the page. But there is no other link to download Digital Editions.
    The download just never starts.
    Thanks,
    - Jesse

    For information, here is what happens when I try it (Safari, Mac OS
    X.5)
    Download now link takes me to #download, the sectrion "Download now".
    This doesn't download anything.
    It says "To get started .... or you can directly download ... by
    clicking the Install Adobe Digital editions button at the right". I do
    not see any such button.
    To the right of this text is a rather baffling graphic which seems to
    be a screen shot of the product, with "System requirements" overlaid
    on it. (It's actually in Flash).
    Clicking on it takes me to a help page - no download. However, among
    the "known issues" buried deep down this page it does say "Mac OS X
    v10.5 is not presently supported".
    NEXT, trying it on a Windows XP system with a secure browser setup,
    the graphic is missing, and it says I have to install Flash. Well, I
    don't do that on this secure system.
    NOW, trying it on regular Windows XP, it's the same as on the Mac
    except that when I click on the baffling graphic, it changes to a
    prompt. "Adobe Digital Editions... Would you like to continue
    installing..."
