PHYSICAL FILES FOR ABAP PROGRAM

hi friends
i would like to know are there any physical files on os level for the ABAP programs.for example, when we create a customized report for sales in ABAP does SAP also create a corresponding copy on os level. if yes then in which file system .?
we have ECC 5.0 on AIX & use oracle 9i.

The code you write in ABAP is not stored on OS-level (at least not in an ABAP-stack system) - it's contained in the database. As for the 'copies' your management wishes (for some ambigous reason) to have - there's no need. The code you write is versionised, so that every change made to the code is automatically documented when you press 'Save'.
That was answering a 'basic' question - but you have made me very curious now: would you mind to explain why you would want a 'copy' of your custom code on OS-level? Any special reason??

You should put your Unix command in the command parameter. "gunzip /yourfilepath/yourfilename" works on my Unix system. Once you determine the proper Unix command, you should be set. This technique is also nice because it provides you with echos back from Unix in table std_lines. For more complex Unix activity, you may want to consider throwing together a Unix script, and calling that via this code.

I want to print an external file which is located in server (
20.99.0.18\GUI\xyz\8.0QUALITY\QM_TS.DOC) .....i want to print these kind of files(which i have retrieved from table 'DRAW' field 'filep' )......i need to print these files using ABAP program.

I want to know how many softwares are there to create a setup file for java programs.
I know one software i.e java launcher to create a setup file.
I want to know about any other softwares are available to create a setup file for java programs.
I created a setup file for swings program in JCreator.
And don't think that i am wastiing ur time with this question .

... but... no i don't wanna create concurrent program for fndload neither i want to use FNDLOAD script ... the above FNDLOAD Submit request program worked for me and using that i have created ldt but my problem is that program is creating ldt for all program which are registered , it's not picking my my file which i pass as a parameter ...please have look into my code ...

Assign Logical file name for the physical file path through Program

Hi all,
I am having a physical file which is getting generated dynamically. It is having the date and time stamp in its name which is added at runtime.
Now I need to assign a logical file name for the physical file path through the program.
Is there any FM or any other method to assign the same.

I think it is not possible. becuase the date & time added at runtime. so if you check the table PATH you can find filename and their definitions

XML files from ABAP programs

Hi everyone!
Is there a way in ABAP to output XML files? Pls. send code/ function module if any.
From ABAP programs, we are sure that we can output TEXT files, but how about XML files?
The significance of this question is related
Currently we are using XI to interface SAP and AMS, this question for ABAP to produce XML file arose, if for example, the XI server is down and we have to still send data from one system to another. IDocs can also produce XML files, pls confirm. Earlier however, we have preferred XI rather than IDocs to do this. Anyway, any idea regarding this scenario will be greatly appreciated.

    If u want to see created ABAP related programs go for SE80 Tcode and
local prv objects         XXXXXXXXX(username) .
clisk on display it will gives u all the temp programs which u have created in your user.If u want to see all the programs select development class radio button and pass the development class name and then click on display.
or if u want all existing ABAP sample programs type ABAPDOCU in address bar and click enter it will sohw all sample abap programs.

Can you debug the program while execute?
I think there is some hardcoding in the program for checkiing the client and then raised a custom message in the program.
Can you share the coding of the prorgam if possible?
Try to check for any messages raised in the program. Also click on the on the message pop up and see the details on the message and let us know.

STEPS:
1.OPEN UR REPORT IN SE38 TRANSACTION.
2.SELECT THE MENU PATH
UTILITIES-->MORE UTILITIES-->RUNTIME ANALYSIS
3.SELECT THE PROGRAM RADIO BUTTON AND GIVE UR REPORT NAME THERE.AND CLICK <b>EXECUTE</b> BUTTON
4.IT WILL TAKE U TO ANOTHER SCREEN THERE U CAN EXECUTE UR REPORT AND COME BACK.
5.CLICK ON ANALYZE BUTTON.(PRESENT IN BELOW OF THE SCREEN).
THEN U WILL GET ONE GRAPH
NOTE:
1.IF IT IS RED UR PROGRAM IS HAVING VERY POOR PERFORMANCE
2.IF IT IS GREEN IT IS OK.
ABAP GRAPH : TELLS UR CODING IN THE REPORT.
DATABASE GRAPH : U R RETREIVE DATA FROM DATABASE IN UR REPORT..
SOME STEPS USED TO IMPROVE UR PERFORMANCE:
1.     Avoid using SELECT...ENDSELECT... construct and use SELECT ... INTO TABLE.
2.     Use WHERE clause in your SELECT statement to restrict the volume of data retrieved.
3.     Design your Query to Use as much index fields as possible from left to right in your WHERE statement
4.     Use FOR ALL ENTRIES in your SELECT statement to retrieve the matching records at one shot.
5.     Avoid using nested SELECT statement, SELECT within LOOPs.
6.     Avoid using INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE. Instead use INTO TABLE.
7.     Avoid using SELECT * and Select only the required fields from the table.
8.     Avoid nested loops when working with large internal tables.
9.     Use assign instead of into in LOOPs for table types with large work areas
10.     When in doubt call transaction SE30 and use the examples and check your code
11.     Whenever using READ TABLE use BINARY SEARCH addition to speed up the search. Be sure to sort the internal table before binary search. This is a general thumb rule but typically if you are sure that the data in internal table is less than 200 entries you need not do SORT and use BINARY SEARCH since this is an overhead in performance.
12.     Use "CHECK" instead of IF/ENDIF whenever possible.
13.     Use "CASE" instead of IF/ENDIF whenever possible.
14.     Use "MOVE" with individual variable/field moves instead of "MOVE-
CORRESPONDING", creates more coding but is more effcient.

I think you must have created this object as a Local Object. You need to do 2 things here :
Reassign the Development Class to a Z Dev Class.
Use trx code SE38. On the first screen, specify the program name & click on Goto-->Object Directory Entry.
You will get a popup here, change the Dev Class to whatever you have on your side, this will prompt you for a Workbench Transport request. Follow up with Basis to get it to Test.

Creating Installer Files for SAP Programs

I have created one Z* transaction and I would like to create a installer file for this transaction. It includes tables, screens and reports and I would like to make it a installer file. All these objetcs are under one transport request. Any kind of help would be great in this regard.

Hi,
There is no concept of installer files in SAP. You can only transport the request to a different system and can start running the transaction code in the system.
ABAP cannot be running as a stand alone EXE file, it needs the SAP environment.
