Pianobar obscura

i like pianobar-git in AUR. it allows me to control pandora from a terminal, which is nice since my media center is a headless box.
pieanobar works well out of the box. i got it to play music by changing default audio to oss in /etc/libao.conf
there are some problems:
apparently there is a default configuration file for pianobar itself that lets you enter annoying details such as the username and lastfm account for scrobbling (very nice).
this file must be created from scratch however and there is no example configuration file.
its syntax and extensive options are therefore a mystery.
can anyone shed some light on this?

Dreamweaver Panels - Only one panel visible at a time, others get obscured even with Always On Top.

I have a problem with my Dreamweaver MX, and it is that I can only see one panel at a time, any other open panels get obscured. For example, with the work space maximized, and having the properties and behaviors panels open, I can only see one of the panels at the same time. If I click on any area of the work space each open panel will display and with the next click the other will display. If I make the work space smaller then the whole area of my screen, and move any open panels outside of the Dreamweaver work space, only then they will stay visible. I know this is not normal behavior, because I used to be able to see all the open panels simultaneously, with the work space maximized to use all the screen area. I went to Preferences> Panels> Always On Top, and all the checkmarks are still set, so as to keep all panels on top at all times, but this does no longer be the case. Can someone tell me what happened here, and how I can get back to being able to see all the open panels? BTW, I tried installing older version of Dreamweaver 4, and the same thing happens to both installed versions. This is extremely annoying!

Since I upgraded to Firefox 19 from 18.0.2, on my Windows XP (SP3) laptop, I, too, can no longer open a new window. File-->New Window does nothing; also can no longer tear off a tab and open it in a new window (it stays where it is). Also, if I right-click on a tab and select Move to New Window, nothing happens. All of these worked fine in FF 18.0.2. All of these work fine with FF 19 on Windows 7. Only an issue on my XP laptop.
After trying to open a new window, and not seeing the new window come up (and yes, I waited a long time), I decided to close my current window, which had multiple tabs open. Instead of just closing, it pops up the message reminding me that I'm about to close all those tabs. If I say close, and then go into the Task Manager, the Firefox application has disappeared (as expected), but the firefox (and plug-in container) processes are still running. So I have to manually kill the Firefox process to get it to quit. it's as if it thinks there is another Window open (the one I tried to open but never appeared). This happens every single time! I've restarted my laptop, and that does not resolve the problem.
Is there a way to downgrade back to v 18.0.2 until this is fixed?

How can I test if a given DisplayObject is obscured by any other DisplayObject on the same stage?

I'm trying to write a function
internal function isObscured(o: DisplayObject, p: DisplayObject): Boolean;
which tells whether the given object o is partially or completely obscured by the object p. I already tried using hitTestObject and hitTestPoint; the latter would actually do what I want if I tested every point in the bounding rectangle of the object at hand - not very efficient. I also tried using setChildIndex but it doesn't seem to help either since it's possible that an object isn't obscured even though it does not have the largest child index.
My current approach is to test whether any bounding rectangle of the objects with larger child indices than the object at hand intersects with the bounding rectangle of the object at hand, however I suspect that this will only work for testing whether any sibling overlaps my object. I also looked at the 'depth' property of UIComponent but it seemed from the same issue (the depth is relative among all siblings).
Does anybody know whether there's a better way to check whether a Flex control is obscured by another?

Some other alternatives for testing:
Use the rectangle approach you mentioned, just make sure you call localToGlobal() on each of the points (rectangle coordinates) before doing the check. That will make all of your comparisons happen in the stage's coordinate system rather than each display object's parent's coordinate system.
Another option that may work is DisplayObject.hitTestObject():

How can I revert to password reminder bar rather than the notification that I now get which obscures a bit of the page

The notifcation 'do you want Firefox to remember the password for ... on ... used to appear as a horizontal bar at the top of the page, below the tabs.
It now covers part of the top left of the page as a type of 'call-out'. I want to remember passwords for certain sites and continue to see the reminder but I don't want it to hide part of the page. This is worse in my netbook as the screen is relatively small so the proportion of the page obscured is relatively high. In which version did it change? How can I get the password reminder to revert to a horizontal bar in Firefox v9?

Many thanks for your suggestion. I have tried as you suggest and clicking the 'key' icon does re-open the password reminder notice but clicking the key icon again doesn't close it. Instead to close the password reminder you have to click and drag the cursor off the key icon. I was hoping for a way of reverting to the horizontal bar.

With Knoll Light Factory how do you get rid of the pinpoint of light that overlap obscuration layer?

I have KLF 3.0 on AE CS6, I am trying to add a nice flare to some keyed footage of a rock star for music video...
I set it up so it looks like a light is behind him and I want him to obscure it a bit when he moves around... However, I can't get rid of the little pinpoint of light where I have the source! My obscuration layer works properly, as he crosses it it dims the light, but the light doesn't totally disappear when he's in front of the "Source"! There's still a little pinpoint that crosses over him ruining the effect I'm going for!
Does someone know how to get rid of that little artifact?
I've tried tweaking all the settings to no avail...

Interesting. I have also experienced a similar problem involving a Knoll lens flare effect (v. 3.0) and obscuration, in this case some 3D text, backlit by a Knoll flare applied to a background layer. The flare moved across and behind the text and faded in and out either side of the text within the comp frame via keyframed opacity settings. The pinpoint of light appeared against the background at the end of the flare's path (beyond the text) on an opacity keyframe that was mistakenly adjusted to 1% instead of 0%. However after re-setting it to 0% and RAM previewing the pinpoint of light remained. Couldn't be eliminated. It was permanent and was also visible in the rendered output. The only quick way to eliminate it was to replace the background layer with a new one, add a new Knoll lens flare effect, copy and paste the keyframes from the original Knoll effect, check the opacity was indeed set to zero at the total fade-out frame and render/playback again. The pinpoint was gone. Puzzling. Not sure if this is what's happening in your case though.

'...' not appearing in obscured table cell when using custom renderer.

Hello all -
I am using a custom JPanel as a cell renderer in a JTable to display two icons per cell. Unfortunately, I am running into a problem that occurs when resizing a column such that the width of the column is less than the size of the cell content. Normally, when resizing a cell in this manner, it will start to cut off the text within the cell and add '...' to signify that some material is obscured. However, using my cell renderer, the text simply cuts off with no indication whatsoever there is more content that is being hidden. I have tried looking through the JComponent code to find a function to overload but I haven't had much luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?
For a simple example, compile and run the following code and try resizing the two columns. You should be able to notice the difference.

Is It Possible To Obscure or Mosaic Something in a Video Clip in iMovie?

Here's what I'm trying to do... I have a clip of me on the local news that I would like to upload to MySpace or YouTube but it has my full name shown below me. I want to obscure at least my last name. Is this possible in iMovie? If not, any other ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!

Text checkbox obscuring view of text in PSE12

With PSE12 how do I stop the green "tick" / red "reject" checkbox from obscuring my view of the text as I'm trying to type? The problem is that the checkbox retains the same number of pixels on my screen - no matter what amount of zoom is applied to the image I'm editing. This did not happen with my previous version (PSE7) - and it's annoying me so much that I would find it very difficult to recommend the program to anyone else. I expect that there is an easy solution - but I have done a lot of searching and I can't find it. The solution will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you MichelBParis - I appreciate your suggestion and there's no doubt that it does work - but if Adobe's developers had done their job well, then all those steps would have been completely unnecessary. There is no good or useful reason for having the checkbox anchored close to the text box. With PSE7 the checkbox for the text was located on the right hand side of the task bar (which was above the edited image) - so it was impossible for the checkbox to get in the way of any part of the image. The designers of PSE12 should have applied a similar tactic by locating the text checkbox at the bottom, to the right of all the options for adjusting the text - OR they should make the existence of text checkbox optional. Can .Mac account name (user id?) be obscured in iWeb's URLs?

Is there any way to obscure/hide the user's account name (XXXXXX) in the URLs?
I believe that the iWeb-published pages/sites can in effect be segregated in a manner that would make it hard for someone with one link to see the content on the .Mac subscribers other published iWeb sites. However, given that iWeb's URLs contain the user's account name [http://web.mac.com/XXXXX/Site1/Welcome.html], it is very simple to take the XXXXXX from that, and convert it to http://gallery.mac.com/XXXXXXX to see the subscribers full galleries.
I for one like to keep certain groups of people and certain published photos separate from one another. But, am unsure how to give people iWeb site URLs and NOT have them see my family photos by going to my .Mac/iPhoto Galleries.

as far as I know the only way to do what you'd like to do is by setting up a personal domain, setting CNAME on it and then point it to the site you'd like to point people.
By doing this the user's account name would be hidden. And people visiting the site wouldn't know there's another site.
You could also password-protect the family sites but I don't think that's a solution.

I have been trying to chat to Apple support online but every time I click on something, I get a little box with writing that obscures the click I want to make, for instance if I click on the red light, it gets obscured by some writing. Very annoying. An

Does anyone else have the problem of clicking on something, say, for instance the red light, and then getting a little box of writing which obscures the red light so that nothing happens. I am getting terribly bored with this problem. It happens over and over again and then eventually I click again and the box with writing goes away and I can clcik the red light. Difficult to explain.

After updating to v. 6.X.X, vertical lines appear around the cursor when typing in webpages such as Gmail and Facebook that persist, obscuring text and other pixels in the webpage. Didn't happen before this update.

I noticed after updating to Firefox version 6.0.1 that vertical lines the same size and shape as the text cursor remain behind on the screen as the cursor moves (either while typing or by using arrow keys). This is most obvious and annoying in text-heavy applications such as when typing in Gmail, Facebook, and work webmail, for instance. (Interestingly, it's not happening now as I type this.)
This is very annoying because these lines obscure parts or even entire letters in words that have been typed. I thought that it might have been a Firefox customized 'skin' I added at the same time as updating, but I reverted to the default view and the problem remains.

My new windows 7 machine and firefox color defaults for input boxes are obscurring the input box on the google search page making google unusable

Under Windows 7 Firefox looks quite different including the default blue for input to question boxes which are white on the xp machines. Normally this is not a problem. But on the Google web page the blue is so bold that nothing can be seen except for a very small portion of the characters (in red) extending below the input screen. This becomes miserable if you try to edit a search stmt or backspace to correct a spelling error. you are quickly lost and need to clear the cache and reload the page.
This problem does not appear using Chrome or IE on the same machine. Nor is it a problem using Firefox 9.0.1 on two other home PC's running XP (there no input box obscures the answer). This seems to be a lot of work.

EPrintCenter obscuring my desktop

Hello, I'm actually helping out my elderly neighbor installing his new HP Deskjet 4615 All-In-One, windows 7 x64, everything went ok, but now and then ePrintCenter comes up either by itself or by clicking in the solution center on the ePrint tab, ePrintCenter obscures the whole desktop, hiding the taskbar making it impossible to resume the desktop, no close or exit found on it.
The only way out is to press Alt+F4 and then it closes and we are back to HP solution center main window. I understand it's a web page with no browsing controls and by clicking the right mouse button and selecting back, is another way to close it, both methods I've found are much too complicated for me neighbor.
Any simpler solution for closing ePrintCenter or avoiding it all together? Maybe disabling or removing it?

Run HP Update to make sure all relevant are updated and then try accessing the solution center to check.
If the update does not work, then you may follow the steps below as a work around
Right click on the solution center shortcut that is available on the desktop screen and click on properties
Go to shortcut tab->Target -> will show as "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Deskjet 4615 All-In-One series\Bin\HP Deskjet 4615 All-In-One.exe"
you need to add “-Start UDCDevicePage” at the end of the target location
Example the target path should be as <<< "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Printer name XXX series\Bin\HP Printer name xxxx series.exe" -Start UDCDevicePage >>>>

Blur/obscure characters or logo in an image

What are some methods to obscure something in a .jpg? For instance a logo on a shirt, or similar.. Would like it to be obvious the item is blurred, doen't need to be removed entirely..
Maybe PS is better? Trying to minimize moving the file back and forth between programs so if it can be accomplished in ILL. then all the better.

Actually this is one of those times when doing this in Photoshop does not make all that much sense since you have to go back and forth from Illustrator and risk having placement problems in Illustrator.
here is what you do
1 place the image file does not matter what format the original is
2 then copy the image and paste in from ( command C, command F (Mac) Control C control F (PC))
3 then draw a shape over the area that you want to obscure
4 then select the shape and the copied instance of the image and make a clipping mask, ( command 7 (Mac) control 7 (PC))
5 then while it is still selected apply a gausian blur effect or if you wish create a mosaic from the Object menu. When creating a mosaic from an image with a clipping mask applied remember to consider the whole dimension of the original image when selecting the number of mosaics.
You can now easily turn the visibility of this area on or off.
You can also flatten the transparency making it a smaller object, it will have a small white area around the which you can recreate a clipping mask for to keep the fie size down.
You can also use different effects like Crystallization, etc. same as you can in Photoshop.
