PKGBUILD won't build on my system [RESOLVED]

I've read the guidelines on the wiki but - for the life of me - I can't get my first attempt at a PKGBUILD to work.  I keep on getting the same error no matter what I do:
# makepkg

  is not available for the 'i686' architecture.
  Note that many packages may need a line added to their PKGBUILD
  such as arch=('i686')
Here's the text file 'PKGBUILD':
# Contributor: shagbag <[email protected]>

Can anyone PLEASE tell me why I'm getting the error I'm getting?

Thx tomk.  I'm glad to hear it compiled for you.
I installed base-devel as you suggested but I'm still getting the same error.  I don't know what's causing it.
I've checked the file and directory permissions:

Any ideas what's wrong with my system?
*EDIT*
It's the damned weirdest thing.  I copied and pasted the text in my first post to a new file, created a new directory called '/var/abs/local/openchrome-experimental' and moved the new file into it.  Then, when I invoked makepkg, it compiled!  Problem solved but understanding not :S.  I'm going to post it to AUR.  Thanks for your help.

  • ORA-01339: LogMiner BUILD: Error copying system catalog metadata to LogMiner

    Hi, has anyone ever got this error in 11.2.0.3 primary database while trying to convert a physical standby to a logical standby?
    Thanks

    Per the documentation:
    4.2 Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating a Logical Standby Database
    Creating a Logical Standby Database
    4.2.2 Stop Redo Apply on the Physical Standby Database
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER MANAGED STANDBY DATABASE CANCEL;
    4.2.3.1 Prepare the Primary Database for Role Transitions
    Has you adjust primary database init.ora parameters to be prepared for switchovers.
    4.2.3.2 Build a Dictionary in the Redo Data
    SQL> EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD;
    this puts a Multi-vertion Data Dictionary (MVDD) is the archive logs that are sent to the standby.
    This is what fails with:
    SQL> exec dbms_logstdby.build ;
    BEGIN dbms_logstdby.build ; END;
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01339: LogMiner BUILD: Error copying system catalog metadata to LogMiner dictionary

    4.2.4.1 Convert to a Logical Standby Database
    SQL> SHUTDOWN ABORT;
    SQL> STARTUP MOUNT EXCLUSIVE;
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE RECOVER TO LOGICAL STANDBY db_name;
    this consumes the data dictionary into the standby for convertion. It is used by SQL apply to understandby object id's because the standby does not know the names of the objects that are in the primary database.
    then you add some logical standby parameters and open the database and start SQL apply.
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    SQL>  ALTER DATABASE START LOGICAL STANDBY APPLY IMMEDIATE;
    So running EXECUTE DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD; is a standby alone process that can be tested any time. It does nothing to the primary except extract dictionary information and puts it in the archive logs.
    I find no information on DBMS_LOGSTDBY.BUILD; ever failing. It must be specific to this primary database.

    Wont/Unable as in you were not able to verify information?
    Basicly the only way Account Security is not able to reset your security questions is because
    1 - You do not remember your password
    2 - You were unable to verify any information which is required
    If you do not remember your password - until your password is either remembered or reset - will not be able to reset questions via Support
    If you know your password - then if you are unable to verify any information regarding your account your questions will not be reset.
    I apologize - If the information above is not the case try calling back in.

  • How to build a measurement system using NI products and the system is outside PC

    I would like to build a system that uses NI's following products:
    1. Wave form generator
    2. Switches
    3. A/D board
    My question is: How to build such a system such that
    the system is outside PC? For example, the system is
    like an ordinary instrument that can be connected to
    PC through RS 485 port.
    Thanks!

    If you are planning on using SCXI, you have two options. You can still use the PXI-1000B chassis, and you will need to connect your DAQ board to the SCXI system with a cable.
    You can also consider using a PXI-1010 or PXI-1011 chassis. We call them combo chassis because they come with some PXI slots and they have an SCXI chassis attached to them. In this chassis, you can connect your DAQ board in the PXI slot closest to the SCXI chassis, and the DAQ board will communicate with the SCXI chassis through the internal PXI backplane, so you will not need to connect them through a cable. The PXI-1010 chassis has 8 PXI slots and 4 SCXI slots, and the PXI-1011 chassis has 4 PXI slots and 8 SCXI slots.
    The MXI-3 extender will let you control any PXI chas
    sis from a desktop. Keep in mind that there are two interfaces: the PCI-PXI-8330, which uses a copper cable, and the PCI-PXI-8335, which uses a fiber optics cable. The advantage of the fiber optics cable is that it is less likely to have noise and the PXI chassis can be up to 200 meters away from the computer.
    Now, given that your signals have a 150V amplitud, you will need a SCXI-1127 module instead of a PXI-250x.
    Finally, we do not have an amplifier in PXI form that can read a 50 KHz - 300 KHz and peak voltage 5v, and amplify it to 120v. However you could check other PXI vendors for those boards. You can find some information of third party vendors by going to the NI Developer Zone and clicking on the Third Party Product Advisor link on the left.

  • I have an hp photosmart c7280 all-in-one series printer won't print. error message, system problem

    I have an HP Photosmart All-in-One C7280 series printer/fax/copier/scanner. I have been having issues with printing for the past few weeks. It is a wireless printer, with a jack into the wall (for fax) and it is plugged into a power source. I never used to have issues with it before, but recently, it won't print when I send a document to it to print. It will print its configuration pages, reports, etc if I select them from the Printer's menu but not when I send a doc to it to print. First it was saying it was offline, but I figured out how to override that by operating as an administrator and selecting "Use Printer Online" from the dropdown menu when I right clicked on the printer from the control panel. But now it says "Error: Printer failed to print document. System error".
    Noooo clue what to do now. This is the only color printer we have so we kind of need it to work. We bought this printer off the shelf at a office store (before I started working here) and so we don't have any designated technichians to work on it. I asked the guy who services our Image Runner Copier to look at it but he had no clue what was wrong with it. Hopefully someone can help?

    goestherain,
    I need to know what operating system you are using to helps narrow troubleshooting a bit, what OS are you running?

  • Solaris 10 x86 Won't Startup After Install - system just restarts itself?

    Ok, I'm another one of those wacky Vista people. I have a Dell Latitude D630 running a dual boot scenario with Vista Ultimate and Solaris 10.
    I had plenty of issues getting that working but it does work. Vista WILL boot. Solaris won't boot. Solaris failsafe will boot.
    Now the issue is....
    Solaris will not boot. When I select it from the GRUB menu, I see some text that flashes really quickly before the system restarts. It's the same text that I see when I boot failsafe mode.
    Something to the effect of Sun Solaris.... blah blah....Subject To License Terms and Conditions....
    So it's as if it's trying to boot Solaris, but for some reason it just restarts the system. The only thing that works is failsafe mode and Vista.
    How can I troubleshoot this issue when I can only get in failsafe?
    Please note I'm an IT professional (so I'm quite capable) but I have ZERO Solaris experience and limited (very limited) Linux experience so break it down for me if you will.
    Thank you in advance!

  • Mac Notes won't connect to iCloud; system preferences crash despite fixes tried

    I am on 10.8.5, have not updated to Mavericks yet. My Mac for notes doesn't want to connect to iCloud so that my notes will sync between all devices.
    I have tried all of the solutions that seemed to work for others, like deleting cache, rebooting, making sure all devices are set to iCloud, typing a new note. I think I remember telling iCloud not to sync notes many years ago but now I do want it to sync and it won't allow.

  • Mail won't start on restored system

    Hiya, I restored my system from a Time Machine backup from Thursday evening, before I had some disk problems, and it seems to have restored fine except that Mail won't work. I just get a dialogue box with this:
    "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X
    You have Mail version 4.1 (1076/1075.2). It can't be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.1 (Build 10B504). For more information, click the Help button."
    Software Update says I'm up to date. Any ideas? Where can I get a new installer?
    Cheers

    you are welcome. It seems to me that there is a strange bug in SL TM. I've seen a lot of posts like yours where people do a full system restore from TM and find that their Mail is outdated. it's easily fixed by reinstalling 10.6.1 but it's still strange that this is necessary at all.

  • Time Machine won't back up after system restore

    I just restored my system after a failure, and now Time Machine won't back up my hard drive. It gets about 40 out of 90 Gigabytes done, and then gives me an error message that just says that there was an error while backing up, and doesn't give any other information. I ran a Verify Disk with Disk Utility, and there is nothing wrong with the backup drive, and there is more than 200 Gigabytes of space left on that drive.
    Thank You.

    Ok, so here's the thing: I tried backing up again today, and it worked just fine. Before, what would happen is a message would pop saying "an error has occurred during backup" (or something close to that). The point is, the message didn't give any detail.
    No, the point is, you seem to have ignored this:
