  • How to pass a bind variable from one SQL Report to Another

    Hello~
    I've created a link on one SQL Report page (Page 1). I would like a value from Page 1 used in the SQL on Page 2 to determine the result set. The Where Clause in SQL Query containing the bind variable is as follows:
    AND hp.party_name     = ':District_Account'
    When I run Page 1 and click on the link to execute Page 2, I get 'No Data Found'. The setup of the link is as follows:
    Column_Name = District_Account
    Link Text = #District_Account#
    Target = Page in this application
    Page = 2
    I'm a rookie working in V1.6...any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Becky

    I don't see any parameter being passed in that URL. A little sample: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33203:4<br>
    when you click on the edit link the URL looks like this:<br>http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33203:5:16073998852455071705::NO:5:P5_TABLE_NAME,P5_OWNER:PRESIDENTS_THEMES%2CBLUETEST<br><br>
    where P5_TABLE_NAME and P5_OWNER are the items and PRESIDENTS_THEMES and CBLUETEST are the values.<br><br>
    The SQL on the filtered report looks like:<br>
    SELECT *

  • Passing SQL-Parameters to Oracle-Reports from java

    hello,
    i want to write an application in the following way:
    on a java-frontend an user can select values for different
    parameters. these values should be to transferred to the sql-
    query of the reports rdf file. what is the syntax of an
    parameter passed from java to oracle reports.
    does this work with runtime.exec()... ?
    does anybody have an example.
    any help would be very appreciated.
    greetings
    Thorsten Lorenz

    In order to pass the parameters to report rdf, you can create user parameters in the oracle report builder, hook up the parameters with query. For example, you can create user parameter P_DEPTNO, then create a sql query: select * from dept where deptno = :P_DEPTNO. When you run this report, you give P_DEPTNO=10 as parameter, the rdf will generate report that only prints out department 10's information.
    Once you have this kind of report created, you have several ways to achieve what you want.
    1. use rwrun60. In your java program, you can invoke rwrun60 via runtime.exec(cmd) where cmd = rwrun60 report=dept.rdf userid=scott/tiger@orcl destype=file desformat=pdf desname=dept.pdf p_deptno=<value_from_java_app>
    2. similarly, use rwcli60. the cmd would be:
    cmd = rwcli60 server=repserver report=dept.rdf userid=scott/tiger@orcl destype=file desformat=pdf desname=dept.pdf p_deptno=<value_from_java_app>
    3. use rwcgi60. Instead of using runtime.exec, you should use java URL object to run the report in the web environment.
    option 2 & 3 takes advantage of powerful functionality of reports server, and it is much more scale than option 1.

  • How to pass a date parameter from report builder query designer to oracle database

    i'm using report builder 3.0 connected to oracle database. i'm trying to pass a date parameter in the query with no success, i don't
    know the exact syntax. I've tried :
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date('01/01/2014','mm/dd/yyyy')
    it worked perfectly.
    However if i try to put a date parameter "From" instead of 01/01/2014 it will not work, a Define Query Parameter popup window appear and error occurred after i fill
    the values (usually i shouldnt get this popup i should enter the value when i run the report)
    SELECT * FROM igeneral.GCL_CLAIMS where CREATED_BY IN (:CREATED_BY) AND CLAIM_YEAR IN(:UW_YEAR) AND (LOSS_DATE) >To_Date(:From,'mm/dd/yyyy')
    appreciate your assistance

    Hi Gorgo,
    According to your description, you have problem when in passing a parameter for running a Oracle Query. Right?
    Based on my knowledge, it use "&" as synax for parameter in Oracle, like we use "@" in SQL Server. In this scenario, maybe you can try '01/01/2014' when inputing in "From". We are not sure if there's any limitation for To_Date()
    function. For your self-testing, you can try the query in sqlplus/sql delveloper. Since your issue is related to Oracle query, we suggest you post this thread onto Oracle forum.

  • Passing multiple character values from parameter form to PL/SQL

    Hi,
    I am passing multiple character values from parametr form into
    the report query and a PL/SQL procedure. It works fine with the
    query, when I use &variable. But, it doesn't compile in PL/SQL,
    so I just used the :variable, but not getting any records in the
    PL/SQL procedure. Any suggestions?
    sincerely,
    gj

    gj / Fedro,
    Only using the &referecne, you can pas a string / multiple character values and this would work for query only.
    The bind parameter in PL/SQL wouls support only single value

  • Passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard to BIP report

    It is possibile passing multi-value parameter from BIEE dashboard prompt to BI Publisher integrated report? (BIP report has a DB data source (not a answers))
    Thank you
    R.

    Hi Rajkm,
    In order to pass a multi-value parameter through the Reporting Services Web services, you need to define the same numbers of ParameterValue objects as the number of the values of the multi-value parameter being past into the report. The Name property
    of these ParameterValue objects must be specified same to the parameter name.
    I found a good FAQ article for this scenario:
    How do I pass a multi-value parameter into a report with Reporting Services Web service API?:

  • Pass a Collection of multi-column records from JAVA to Plsql

    Hi,
    I need to pass a Collection of multi-column records(say Employee Id, Employee Name and Employee Address) from a JAVA application to an Oracle package/stored procedure
    for data processing and updates.
    I initially thought of using a pl/sql table as an input parameter, but then I came to know that a pl/sql table can have ONLY one column and an index (can be a String in
    the case of an Associative Array). Please let me know if my understanding is wrong here.
    I then thought of using a PL/SQL table with a RECORD type as an element. But, I came across a documentation that says that, Oracle JDBC does not support RAW, DATE, and PL/SQL RECORD as element types.
    Could you please let me know how I can pass multi-column records from JAVA to an Oracle Stored procedure as an input parameter? Millions of rows would be sent by the JAVA program to the Oracle Stored procedure.
    Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sunil.

    There are several examples in the " Working with Oracle Collections" from the "JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference". You can either use a Map to create Java objects that are created with the Oracle objects data or the generic oracle.sql.STRUCT interface.

  • Is it possible to pass a variable in FROM clause in SQL?

    Hi Experts,
    <i><b>loop at it_db_table.
    select field1 from it_db_table-table_name into my_it.
    endloop.</b></i>
    I mean, Is it pass a variable value to FROM clause in SQL?
    I got the info from SAP as,
    <i><b>Works like variants 1-3, provided the source_text varialb contains the table name or a join expression as ABAP source text.
    Examples
    Output of a list of all customers:
    DATA  tabname(10).
    DATA: BEGIN OF wa,
            id   TYPE scustom-id,
            name TYPE scustom-name,
          END OF wa.
    tabname = 'SCUSTOM'.
    SELECT id name INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF wa FROM (tabname).
      WRITE: / wa-id, wa-name.
    ENDSELECT.</b></i>
    thanq.

    Here is a short sample of a dynamic select statement.
    Enter your table name in the parameter on selection screen. Enter you where clause in the select-option on selection screen.
    I used.....
    MARA
    MTART = 'HALB'
    report zrich_0004 .
    data: xwhere(30) type c.
    data: iwhere(30) type c occurs 0.
    data:itab(1000) type c occurs 0 with header line.
    parameters: p_table(30) type c.
    select-options: s_where for xwhere.
    loop at s_where.
      clear iwhere.
      xwhere = s_where-low.
      append xwhere to iwhere.
    endloop.
    select * up to 100 rows into table itab
              from (p_table)
                    where (iwhere).
    loop at itab.
      write:/ itab.
    endloop.

  • Passing sysdate in milliseconds from OAF page to PL/Sql proc

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement wherein I need to pass SYSDATE in milliseconds from OAF page to the PL/SQL package.
    Basically I will be calling a PL/SQL api from AM . So here I need to pass SYSDATE in milliseconds as one of the PL/SQL proc parameters.
    How do you I go about this ?
    Any help is aprreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    get the current database date by
    oracle.sql.date currentDate=OADBTransaction's method getCurrenctDBDate ()
    (OADBTransaction object can be obtained from AM Object itself).
    Now you may convert this currentDate to java date object.
    currentDateObjAsJavaDate=currentDate.toDate()
    now miliseconds (since1970, I remember so, please see documentation) =currentDateObjAsJavaDate.getTime();

  • Is it possible to pass a formula value from a sub-report to a main report

    Hi there,
    Im trying to pass a formula value from a Sub-report back upto into my Main report but the value doesnt seem to be getting passed up. Ive tried it the other way around, that is, passing a value from the main report to the sub-report and that works fine.
    Below is an example of what I am trying to do but it is not working. In my sub-report Ive declared a formula variable as,
    formula name=main_subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount := TotalPageCount;
    and in the Main report Ive declared the formula variable as,
    formula name=subIntRatePageCount
    Shared NumberVar subIntRatePageCount;
    subIntRatePageCount;
    I want the value assigned to "subIntRatePageCount" in my Sub-Report to be available to my Main report.
    The problem I am trying to solve is that the sub-report is spilling over onto two pages, and I need a way of updating the page display on the main report to reflect this. The page display is of format, "displaying page 1 of  3", but its not taking into account the extra page produced by the sub-report, so it should say "displaying page 1 of 4".

    Also thanks Raghavendra, Asha,
    I've tried adding the "whileprintingrecords" statement but that doesnt seem to make any difference.
    I notice that the subReport is being called from my the GroupFooter section of the main report, and I am trying to reference the variable in the main repot in the Page Footer section. Could it be that the variable hasnt been calculated in the Page Footer by the time I calculate it in sub-Report? I thought Crystal Reports does at least 5 passes over the report evaluating all the formulas before it prints the report?
    The problem Im trying to solve is I need to know how many pages my report will have before its completed, so that i can print the statement "displaying page 1 of X", and X is currently not being calculated correctly because the sub-report is printing onto 2 pages and not 1 so the report thinks I have 1 of X pages and not X+1.
    Regards
    Robert.

  • Upgrade Sharepoint 2010 SQL Reporting Services from 2008 R2 to 2014

    I'm about to do the upgrade of SharePoint 2010 Reporting Services from 2008 R2 to 2014.  The instructions say it can be done "in-place" with no downtime.  I've seen this article:
    http://whitepages.unlimitedviz.com/2012/03/upgrading-sql-server-reporting-services-to-2012-in-sharepoint-integrated-mode/
    It covers 2012 so I assume the same holds true for 2014.
    I'd like to get the low down from anyone who has actually performed the upgrade of SSRS from 2008 R2 to 2014.  Anyone done this upgrade?  Any issues?
    David Jenkins

    So far I would have to say that the upgrade can be done "in-place" but there is a "DOWNTIME".
    This article has helped a lot:
    http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/tlingenfelder/archive/2012/07/10/upgrading-sql-server-reporting-services-2008-r2-to-sql-server-reporting-services-2012-in-sharepoint.aspx
    In the article it tells you about a bug in the SQL Upgrade process where
    the Domain account you use will not work. When you type in the password it fails. On top of that it will lock the Domain account because of a bad password!  There is probably something wrong with the authentication process and it garbles the password.
    Anyway, you end up having to change the account to the "Network Service" account before you can do the upgrade.  This means the services get restarted which means???
    DOWN TIME!  He goes over other errors.  I haven't reviewed these issues yet.
    The other thing I learned is that everything needs to be SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 in order to upgrade.  You don't find this out until almost the last step in the installation process.
    Now I have to wait until next week to actually do the upgrade because I have to schedule an SP2 install.  :(

  • Pass Input Values to BI Publisher Report Layout from BI Answers Dashboard

    Has anyone been able successfully pass user input values from a BI Answers dashboard prompt into a BI Publisher report? I'm trying add user inputted text (notes, comments) into a report he/she runs.
    I've been trying with no success. I've matched the name of the presenation variables in Answers to the parameter definitions in BI Publisher.
    I've declared the parameter in the RTF template as below:
    1. Declaration
    <?param@begin:param1?>
    2. retrive value:
    <?$param1?>
    If i run it directly from BI Publisher, there is no issue. When I pass the value from an Answers dashboard, the text is never displayed in the report?
    Any suggestions?
