PL/SQL Technology Center

I firmly believe PL/SQL should have its own Technology Center. It is a development platform used by hundreds of thousands of developers world-wide. It is a rich environment that integrates well with Java, XML, SQL, C, ColdFusion, etc. It is an integral component of well-designed, powerful database applications, including your own MetaLink. The number of Oracle-supplied packages and features based on or integrated with PL/SQL keeps growing at a rapid pace. It needs a TC to promote its effective and continued use.

Andrew,
Now we're well into 2003. I still don't see much on PL/SQL on OTN. PL/SQL has its own portal page, somewhat hidden away (if you didn't know to look for it, you're not likely to find it), but it hasn't been updated recently.
I've found a lot of shops only delve into PL/SQL when there's a Sr developer on staff to pave the way. I've already worked at several shops that have used PL/SQL heavily and effectively, to build reporting systems (Crystal and Delphi front-end), Data Warehouse/Data Marts (Cold Fusion front-end), OLTP (VB front-end), etc. In each case, moving embedded SQL to the backend has resulted in huge performance gains, improvements in maintainability and code reuse.
9i has some significant improvements in PL/SQL, even as you move from 9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.3.0. Most notable are improvements with bulk operations and more flexible use of collections. A lot of new packages are continually being added. Some developers have a core set of packages they wrote and carry with them from shop to shop. Java carries with it a certain architecture, and a very rich run-time library. PL/SQL could also benefit from this approach.

  • Need advise on SQL,plsql developer career and future

    Hi all,
I need all your advise in making an important decisions of my career path.I work in the IT field and have about total 4-5 years of work experience involving development and testing in a product based organization.
Presently-i have got chance since last 4-5 months to work with writing PLSQL code,SQL etc on a part basis. I am very much interested to continue my career path as a PLSQL developer.
But, unfortunately -in the total of my work experience-in the past 2-3 years-i worked with a internally developed DB query language(similar to SQL) and then from last few months with plsql. But this chance to work with PLSQL has been for less time and limited scope after which i will have to work on something different.
Ii want to fully take on my career in SQL,PLSQL as Database Developer.
Please advise me if my thinking seems logical and good and if I could do it. I have planned on applying for relevant SQL,PLSQL profile jobs.
Now, My serious worry and concern is I feel that since i have worked very less with PLSQL-so am low in confidence that I feel i wont be able to answer ,or tell or not knowledgeable enough to be able to clear the technical interviews for SQL,plsql development profile which would need at least some years of experience.
I have started studying and practsing PLSQL,sql by myself for from internet. So, can you all please advise me on how could i prepare myself for hard core technical interviews of SQL,PLSQL knowledge for about 2-3 years expertise.
I know its not much possible to be competent so much in the subject by just studying and practicing. Its easy as saying to study and get it by myself-but i want to try and will put my best for it.
Please help me with your inputs, all interview questions, hard ones-suggestions,links,any study materials, real time problems which i can try solving of SQL, PLSQL development.
    Thanks All

    Hi,
A very good starting point is (in my opinion): [Steven Feuerstein PL/SQL Obsession|http://www.toadworld.com/Knowledge/DatabaseKnowledge/StevenFeuersteinsPLSQLObsession/tabid/153/Default.aspx]. • Can SQL Developer connect to ANY third party database

As of my investigations, SQL Developer can currently connect only to Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL and Access.
What about connecting to any database using JDBC? Is this possible / planned? I'm currently interested in PostgreSQL.
    Thanks, Viliam

In the next release users will be able to connect to Sybase. We do have plans to extend to further third-party databases, but this is not scheduled for the short term. Are you looking for a migration solution? The Migration Technology center has a lot of detail and support we provide for third party database support. http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/index.html

  • Full-text search not available after upgrade from SQL 2008 R2 Std to SQL 2012 Std

We upgraded our production SQL Server from 2008 R2 Std to 2012 Std last week, and the installation logs show everything was successful, but now we are unable to do any searches against our full-text indexes.  The resulting error is as follows:
"Full-Text Search is not installed, or a full-text component cannot be loaded."
When executing the query "SELECT FULLTEXTSERVICEPROPERTY('ISFULLTEXTINSTALLED')", the result is "0".  The "Full-Text Daemon Launcher service is also running.  When running installation again to add the feature, it shows
"Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search" as being installed and unavailable for selection in the list of features to add.  As a side note, we did the same upgrade in our identical QA environment before production and everything was successful
and full-text searches are working correctly.  We have run the "Repair" routine in the SQL Installation Center and it did not correct the problem.
The full-text catalogs still appear when browsing through the GUI in SSMS or querying sys.fulltext_indexes and sys.fulltext_index_columns.  It is not possible to view the properties of the catalog in SSMS, though, as the GUI throws an error and an empty
dialog box is shown.  Any other thoughts?
    Thanks,
    AJ

I have no idea what is going, but assuming that it is a little pressing to get this fix, I think the best path in this case is to open a case with Microsoft.

  • SQL Server Notification Services Removed from SQL Server 2008

It comes as no surprise to us that 2008 will not be supporting notification services.  Several years ago our company developed our product line of alerting applications and gave some long and serious thought into using SQL Notification services.
Besides the fact that the NS desktop alerting component itself was rather bland/limited, (an acknowledge button, image, hyperlink) at the time it just made no sense to create a core component of the business plan around such a 3rd party dependent widget.
While a look at this MS page shows only a few companies who have built alerting systems around NS,
    http://www.microsoft.com/sql/technologies/notification/partners/appsoftware.mspx
….there is actually quite a few companies who have done this and must now consider a total rewrite of their alert system.
Quite frankly, looking forward at MS's new family of Communications servers,
    http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/office/aa905499.aspx
I am not sure that things are changing much.
"Welcome to the Microsoft Office Live Communications Server developers' home on MSDN. Live Communications Server 2005 provides your business with an enterprise-ready instant messaging, presence awareness, and an extensible platform that connects people, information, and business processes—enabling better decisions faster."
    Remember this?
MSN Buys MessageCast for Real-Time Alerts
    http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Messaging-and-Collaboration/MSN-Buys-MessageCast-for-RealTime-Alerts/
MessageCast was a serious product on the up.  They sold out and poof.  The whole fiasco was a joke.
As it pertains to alerting platforms, the good call just may be having a architecture that is somewhat autonomous ( i.e.  Ok, perhaps Windows OS, .Net Framework and SQL Server as prerequisites is ok) to MS embedded components and not reliant on “Live Server" licenses.  Seems like just a better bet hands down all day long.
I can tell you that about 5% of all alerts our clients create are sent to inform end users “Exchange is Down”.  It’s hard to get a OutLook Desktop Alert when Exchange is down.
So, an alert system designed from scratch in-house (the hard way) may just be the heads up alert your customer needs to see.  If for nothing else, you can control your products destiny….unless of course MS Windows is made obsolete.  <wink>  Unlikely.  Hey....without MS products, we would not be in business.  They make some of the best software in the world.  But that does not mean your campany is not capable of the same.

I'm coming to the discussion of the fate of Notification Services a bit late as it is now December. It is my view that Microsoft should rethink its position on Notification Services, and should continue to support and evolve it until such time as it might be migrated to the future "alerting" solution Microsoft devises for at least the following 2 reasons:
    (1) Notification Services addresses an enterprise application integration need complementary to Microsoft's web service strategy. This is a place Microsoft has not gone before, but needs to go. Why? EAI vendors won't modify their infrastructure to make them web service oriented ... they can't because it is legacy. Instead, they try to buy something and attach it to legacy ... but that doesn't work too well. Microsoft already has started/built greenfield. Further, Microsoft has commoditized such so that with notification services and its other .NET-based products (at least they evolve to such) a full complement of architectural components is being or has been assembled. Why would Microsoft make such an investment ... across the portfolio of server products ... and then back off of it? Microsoft has not been in the enterprise space before to the degree it has wished. It has intimated, at least, that it will be at the periphery with its variety of services and products. An integration broker is necessary for success at the periphery, and it provides a bridge to the enterprise back office that has the property of loose coupling, which is both good for Microsoft and its clients.
    (2) Microsoft claims to be working to develop a server platform suitable to provision notification services. This server platform could be productized as Microsoft intends, and then notification services could be made to work on that platform and then it could be open sourced. If Microsoft intends to provide a kind of application server foundation that would make it possible for non-Microsoft development teams to build out services on a Microsoft stack that can be hosted with the same set of services as, say, IIS, Biztalk, SQL Server, etc., then it seems that Notification Services could easily be migrated to this server framework once such is ready for prime time. Functional expansion of such could be accomplished by an open source community if Microsoft chooses to not further extend it on its own dime ... maybe even on its own nickel.
I've read some of the reasons justifying Microsoft's rationale to discontinue its Notification Services product line. One was that not many people used it. Blogs have listed a number of companies that have used it. The number may not be to the scale Microsoft would like ... one could look at Biztalk and suggest that Workflow Foundation represents Microsoft's belief that Biztalk too should be deprecated. Maybe so. But the strategy Microsoft is taking with workflow does not drop support for a core architectural capability. Why not keep Notification Services and give people time to learn how to architect in enterprise fashion with Microsoft infrastructure? Why not use it to seed an open source community? It probably costs you little ... and you have an open source community option that could get Microsoft further into an enterprise than it has previously been ... right into the middle ... leveraging Microsoft web service innovations in spades at substantially less cost than traditional EAI vendors, IBM, and other competitors could afford. People have to learn how to use Microsoft products in an enterprise context ... aside from specialized applications and OS vmware, what products have you put out that systematize infrastructure?
I've also heard that Microsoft is considering incorporation of Notification Services as part of Reporting Services. Please pardon me but that seems ack basswards ... events are not reports, but reports could be events if you view reports as correlations over critical business activities instead of some statically produced bit of information to be shoved off into someone's mailbox or file system or even web site. Reports are static. Events are part of a dynamic and learning enterprise platform. Isn't that what you're attempting to build infrastructure for? Isn't that exactly what Microsoft needs to secure its position at the back of an enterprise just as it has the front?
Please reconsider your position. And please contact me at tommy  at zipa dot deedoodah dot com to discuss. I'm as opinionated as everyone else, and I think you have a good product here that you're throwing away. If you don't want it, I will take it ...
    Sincerely,
    Tom Winans

  • ODI JMS to SQL MESSAGESELECTOR

    Hi,
Anybody had successful experience using ODI with JMS to SQL technology trying to consume messages from Weblogic Topic with MESSAGESELECTOR option? Having trouble that ODI consumed all messages from Topic indiscriminately whenever there was a MESSAGESELECTOR expression present from ODI Interface. Any suggestion/idea are welcome.
    AL

There is definitely a message selector defined in the message. I am using Message Selector and ClientID (Subscriber ID) in LKM. It turns out that the subscriber needs to be configured with same message selector expression. Otherwise when ODI hit the subscriber, it behaves as if it is setting the message selector on the subscriber in Weblogic, and the setting operation will reset all messages.
Not sure if this is documented anywhere ( ODI or Weblogic ).
    Thanks
    Albert

  • Migrating from mssql to oracle or postgres to oracle

I have a database driven web application written in J2EE. Currently this application works with Microsoft SQL 7.0 and Postgres 7.3. It uses various datatypes and also has many stored procedures. I will be migrating actual data, table definations and stored procedures.
Can you please tell me whether to go for MS SQL to oracle migration or postgresql to oracle?

    Hi Margaret,
The Oracle Migration Workbench MS SQL Server 7 plugin will migrate your MS SQL Server 7 schema, stored programs and data to Oracle. You can freely download the Migration Workbench from the Migration Technology Center on OTN at http://otn.oracle.com/tech/migration/content.html.
Currently the Migration Workbench does not support migrations to postgres.
    I hope this helps,
    Tom.

  • Skype for Professor virtual office hours

We have just been informed that our illuminate contract will no longer be funded next year starting in Jan 2013. I was wondering if there are any educational grants that I can apply for that would allow us to test the feasibility of using Skype as a replacement for Illuminate Office hours, in our distance education courses.
If not a grant, any suggestions on how we could handle 12-15 students in a skype conference as a virtual office hour, or as part of a real time content delivery agent

  • Ingres to Oracle 9i

This forum states it is for "Ask any questions regarding migrating from non Oracle Databases, report problems and request enhancements to the Oracle Migration Workbench", so I hope there may be some help for a migration I'm being asked to make from CA-OpenIngres 2.0 to Oracle 9i. I have Ingres DBA skills, but I am a novice with Oracle.
Are there any documents, migration guides or other resources to help me make a such a migration? If I use Ingres utilities to create the SQL that Ingres would use to move the database to another Ingres instance, would such a script probably run with Oracle?

There should be an unsupported Migration Kit for Ingress on OTN.
Click on "Oracle Migration Toolkits" under the "Migration Home" section in the Oracle "Migration Technology Center" on OTN.oracle.com, and scroll down to see Ingress toolkit.

  • Address Bar Not Working

The address bar in my version of Firefox 28 does not seem to be working at all. The address bar seems to work perfectly, however when you press enter nothing happens. It can detect your bookmarks and history but when you click on those nothing happens as well. So the address bar is completely useless.
I tried reinstalling but that didn't work, I then tried a factory reset and that worked for a while, however just a day later the problem has resurfaced. I started firefox with all addons disabled but that didn't make a difference either, I then disabled every addon one by one while reopening firefox multiple times to try and see of there was a troublesome addon but that didn't make a difference either.
I am running the Linux version of firefox under OpenSUSE 13.1, the exact version from the about screen is 28.0, "Firefox for OpenSUSE OpenSUSE - 13.1" is also displayed on the about screen.

In either early or late KMS start, essentially what I see during boot is the boot messages starting to get drawn from the top of the screen, at some point they briefly stop being drawn (as if services are still loading) and then continue until the screen's height is filled, when the screen flashes blank and new messages get drawn from the top. I also see random pixels appear singly all over the screen, in different colours. This behaviour happened when I was first running the Arch installation, until I realised that KMS might be the problem and added "nomodeset" (and later "i915.modeset=0", which made no difference) to the kernel parameters. However, before booting into my Arch pendrive, the laptop booted into a sort of windows installer / agreement signing (in UEFI, presumably) which did get rendered correctly.
This potentially leads me to think that, before I nuked the existing partitions in readiness for my Arch install, there was some firmware or driver in there that made the HD 5500 just work™. Could this be true? I'm still getting my head around UEFI and what it lets you do. With this in mind, I tried making a new EDID to give the GPU a good idea of what kind of screen it should be drawing to, but that made no difference.
Strangely, if I boot up with KMS and get to X (with root doing startx on the stock configuration), neither /var/log/Xorg.0.log nor glxinfo seem to think anything's the matter from what I can tell:

Likewise xrandr seems happy with the way things are going:
    Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767
    eDP1 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 293mm x 165mm
    1920x1080 60.00*+ 40.00
    1400x1050 59.98
    1280x1024 60.02
    1280x960 60.00
    1024x768 60.00
    800x600 60.32 56.25
    640x480 59.94
HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
I tried boteium's suggestion to force xrandr to redraw things (or signal them to get redrawn, however it works) by rotating the picture, but I still had the same weirdness of slow drawing, random coloured pixels and now "smudging" with the open xterm instances. It's as if hardware acceleration is not enabled and, I imagine, the GPU is blindly trying to draw whatever it can to the screen without preparing the complete picture first (if that's what they do at all).
For completion's sake – and I'm sorry for all these walls of text – here's my pacman -Q, just in case anyone could (hopefully) spot a silly mistake on my part:

Sorry to double-post, but I'm coming around to the idea that it's a UEFI issue. My understanding now is that, if I want to use UEFI, the kernel's EFISTUB needs to be loaded by certain EFI firmware that gives the kernel information about the hardware, which I unfortunately lost when creating my partitions. The only EFI file I have in /boot is "/boot/EFI/gummiboot/gummibootx64.efi". Should this be enough to boot as UEFI? Am I understanding this right? Something else that makes me think I'm missing some essential stuff that was originally installed, is that some items as reported by dmidecode say "To be filled by O.E.M.". Since I've just bought this system pre-built from an OEM, I would have thought that they'd fill that in, and that the EFI firmware is the place to do it.
Also, one thing I forgot to mention above is that I changed the BIOS setting Advanced→Launch PXE OpROM policy from "Legacy" to "UEFI" before booting into the Arch iso. Could this have anything to do with KMS not working (during the installation and until now)? I didn't try booting with "Legacy", but if we could confirm that booting as UEFI is what broke KMS during installation, maybe that could be worth mentioning in the wiki.

    Hi
Does anyone has the installation guide for 9ias on RedHat Advanced Server 3 please? Thank you!

there is an installation guide for oracle applic server 9 and above on red hat advanced server 3 in pdf format on the linux technology center page on oracle. here is the file link.

  • Asus Transformer book T200TA

    Hello,
I'm trying to put an Archlinux on the Asus Transformer book T200TA, and I will share here my progress. I will take note of a lot of things, when I manage to do something or when something does not work. And if you have any ideas to make something works, tell me !
    Current status (for TL;DR)
    - Boot under archiso : Working with patch
    - Boot Archlinux on the keyboard's HDD : Working by putting boot and efi partition on the internal memory
    - Virtualization of Windows 8.1 under linux : Partially working only with a 64 bit linux as host
    - SD card : Working with patch
    - Graphics : Working
    - Random freezes : Fixed ?. Didn't experienced any since my new installation with linux 4.0
    - xhci_hcd bug at boot ; Work in USB2 mode only
    - Backlight control : Working
    - Sound : Work on both headphone and speakers in stereo but you have to edit an alsa config file for enabling sound on one or both output and for setting the sound level. Microphone not tested.
    - Wifi : Not working
    - Bluetooth : Not working: Not working
    - Battery indicator : Working With kernell patch
    - Touchpad : Partially working : Only one finger and very unpleasant because the cursor move a little before you click.
    - Touchscreen : Partially working : Works randomly and seems to not release click when you remove your finger.

The T200TA has a lot on common with the T100TA, so, much of my fixes come from this computer (as it has been release one year before and the T200 is currently pretty new).

    Boot under archiso
If you try to boot, it will not work. Because, as T100, it search only for 32bit efi (even if the cpu can handle 64bit OS). You can do like him.
Or you can do like me, I think it's easier, but really dirty (it's not a full script, execute it only part by part) :

    cd ../
    rm -r work
A better way of fixing that should be building a x86 version of the file `PreLoader` from the repo `git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/jejb/efitools.git` because this file is renamed as `bootx64.efi` during the archiso creation, and the missing file is the x86 equivalent : `bootia32.efi`. Anyway, I didn't manage to build it, so I gave up this path. Tell me if you find something better.
Boot Archlinux on the keyboard's HDD
I cannot currently use this computer under linux for everyday, but I need a linux to work or dev. And I have to admit that the windows UI is much better for touchscreen than any linux desktop that I tried. The internal memory is only 30GB. So I let Windows 8.1 on internal memory for "tablet mode" and linux on hard drive for "netbook mode".
I didn't find any way to make the computer boot to the hard drive (or the micro usb card of 64GB), the efi-bios don't see them (the HDD is pluged in usb 3.0, but even in USB 2.0 mode it does the same).
To make it work, you have to put the boot and efi partition on the internal memory :
    - Create a boot parition (100mo ext2) on the internal memory or use the windows rescue partition (300mo, ntfs, ~86%used after grub and vmlinuz installation). And during your installation process, mount it at /boot (/dev/mmcblkpX)
    - Use the windows EFI parition (100mo fat32) and mount it to /boot/efi (/dev/mmcblkpY)
    - Then (re-)install linux (need internet connexion, wireless or no. Dont forget to start dhcpcd)
mount /dev/sdbZ /mnt # with /dev/sdbZ your keyboard's hdd root partition where linux will be installed
    mkdir /mnt/boot
    mount /dev/mmcblkpX /mnt/boot
    mkdir /mnt/boot/efi
    mount /dev/mmcblkpY /mnt/boot/efi
    pacstrap /mnt/ base grub efibootmgr
    genfstab -U -p /mnt >> /mnt/etc/fstab
    - and install grub on partition
    arch-chroot /mnt
    grub-install --target=i386-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=grub --recheck
    - Edit /etc/grub.d/40_custom and add at the end :
    if [ "${grub_platform}" == "efi" ]; then
    menuentry "Microsoft Windows Vista/7/8/8.1 UEFI-GPT" {
    insmod part_gpt
    insmod fat
    insmod search_fs_uuid
    insmod chain
    search --fs-uuid --set=root --hint-bios=hd0,gptY --hint-efi=hd0,gptY --hint-baremetal=ahci0,gptY [fs_uuid]
    chainloader /EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    fi
with gptY, the Y from /dev/mmcblkpY above (the efi partition)
and [hints_string] is gave by the command
    grub-probe --target=fs_uuid /boot/efi/EFI/Microsoft/Boot/bootmgfw.efi
    - Apply grub config
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Now I can boot to "Windows Boot Manager" or "grub" from bios. But I choosed to have grub by default and then he ask me what I want.
    Virtualization
    What works :
    - host Win32, guest linux32
    - host win32, guest win32
    - host linux32, guest linux32

    What doesn't work:
    - host linux32, guest win32

However firefox doens't enable 3D acceleration by default, you have to force it. To check if it use it, go to about:support
And this mean that, it doesn't support it :
    GPU Accelerated Windows 0/1 Basic
    To force it :
    - Got to about:config
    - Set layers.acceleration.force-enabled
    - Set layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled to true
And restart firefox. Now you should have
GPU Accelerated Windows 1/1 OpenGL (OMTC)
Warning : 3D acceleration can make firefox more buggy, so try to disable it if you have problems.

    Random freezes
After some minutes (last time after ~40minutes) the system freeze. I don't know if it's only graphical or not. This freeze seem to happend when the cpu/gpu has a lot to do.
I've done a clean install with default kernel 4.0 in may 2015, and since that, I didn't have any freeze.
    xhci_hcd bug at boot
When I enable XHCI in bios, sometime, I get that

The port change randomly and when it is port3, I loose the keybard and mouse and I have to make a hard reebot.
To "fix" this, I disabled XHCI (wich mean USB3) from the bios.

and you can load it by doing
    alsactl -f asound.state restore
To change the values, you have to edit the field "value" of a control and reload the config file with the precedent command. I tried to comment it, but I didn't test any microphone, because I didn't need it currently. We are supposed to have 2 microphones : internal and via the jack. I think it's possible, but I don't have any jack microphone, so if you need it, try to change the different settings and tell me if you find something.
I don't think any GUI, will manage to make the sound control work (even in alsamixer, it's a big mess), because there is no convention followed.
    To be continued

I had still freeze with uxa. I still don't have any freeze with disabled acceleration. But I also have the flickering tty, but it's not a big problem as this is still usable and I don't often use it.
Maybe when you tried, it was another bug that makes you freeze (with an older version of someting).. I don't know, I will write both solution on the topic.
I've done some search on the touchpad : If you look at the device output (cat /dev/hidraw2 for me), you will see that the device don't send anything when you have two finger that touch the device (so it's not possible to use it as dualtouch). I think it's just a starting data that is send from Asus Smart Gesture under windows that start the Multi touch mode. I've start a vritual machine and I gave it the touchpad usb device (wich is also the keyboard... Usb bus 1 address 3) and I started the driver. Under windows it worked well with multitouch. I killed the virtual machine and I got back my keyboard but not the touchpad. I watch at /dev/hidraw2 and the touchpad now give information with two and more fingers (also it give immediatly data and not after a small lag like normally). After a restart it was gone as expected. I watched the usb driver with usbmon and wireshark and I tried to reproduce UsbHid exchange between computer and device but it didn't work. I still don't know why but I will continue to search.
There is 3 sub device on the usb device mouse/keyboard. 0 is the keyboard, 1 the media key (fn keys except sound) from the keyboard, and 2 the touchpad. So if someone has time to works on media keys, I don't think this is verry difficult. (It's more difficult for the sound, win and sleep button on the screeen, because I didn't find any signals from it.
I will try to work on a aur package that give our kernel with fixes this summer. (And maybe also a pre-builded version).

  • [xbmc] - library is missing records [solved by downgrading sqlite]

Recently, about 1/2 of my library is literally empty in the GUI, but the underlying files are on the filesystem and are accessible to the user running xbmc.
    Example:
    /media/shows is the library root.
    The following are present:
    /media/shows/foo/s1/foo.s01e01.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s1/foo.s01e02.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s1/foo.s01e03.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s1/foo.s01e10.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s2/foo.s02e01.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s2/foo.s02e02.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s2/foo.s02e03.mkv
    /media/shows/foo/s2/foo.s02e10.mkv
When I browse to TV Shows>foo in the GUI, all I see is ".." when in the past I would see all the content sorted by season.  I tried removing ~/.xbmc and totally rebuilding it.  The scraper found the shows and I watched it pull down the meta data, but again, when I enter the library, I see nothing under the show name.
The permissions on /media/shows are all 755 for dirs and 644 for files.  The user running xbmc owns the dirs/files.
Anyone else experiencing this?  XBMCv12.2-5 and an up-to-date system.
Attached is a debug log.  What I did:
    1) Loaded xbmc
    2) Navigated to Shows>foo (which was empty)
    3) Exited xbmc

johnpiers wrote:Thanks graysky, just to confirm, downgrading sqlite from 3.8.1-1 -> 3.8.0.2-1 did the trick for me as well! Just wondering how an error like this goes unnoticed before the repository is upgraded/updated?.
It goes unnoticed because of a couple of things:
    1. The person doing the packing isn't running XBMC. They can't be expected to test every program that uses sqlite.
    2. It seems this didn't go to [testing] at all. This usually happens when the update is necessary for security reasons, but doesn't allow the people running [testing] to find these kind of bugs before they hit the main repo. Looking through the SVN log, this never seems to go to [testing], so that's on the maintainer.

  • Error when running Stellarium with Intel GPU

I'm trying to run Stellarium on a 2009 desktop computer with an Intel GPU, but I get the following error message:
Your OpenGL subsystem has problems. See log for details. Ignore and suppress this notice in the future and try to continue in degraded mode anyway?
    This is the log file:

GL renderer is "Mesa DRI Intel(R) Q35 "

Mesa version is fine, we should not see a graphics problem.
GLSL Version Number after parsing: 1.2
This is not enough: we need GLSL1.30 or later.
You should update graphics drivers, graphics hardware, or use the MESA version.
Else, please try to use an older version like 0.12.4, and try there with --safe-mode
You can try to run in an unsupported degraded mode by ignoring the warning and continuing.
But more than likely problems will persist.
Aborting due to OpenGL/GLSL version problems.
I'm using xf86-video-intel version 2.99.917-1 at the moment.

I also get extremely slow performances when running 3D game Xonotic, but I don't know if it's due to the same problem. Any suggestion?

It seems that my GPU (Intel GMA 3100) is not supported anymore. See https://answers.launchpad.net/stellarium/+faq/2570: "Graphics cards which are no longer supported by Stellarium 0.13 and later include early ATI/AMD Radeon cards up to and including the Xxxx series (built 2004/05), NVidia up to GeForce FXxxx (2003/04), and Intel GMA before X3000, unfortunately also including the popular Atom-based netbooks of 2010."
