Placing a stop to Tweened Buttons

Hi Guys,
I realize I might have done this the hard  way, but bear with me as I am brand new to flash and need to get a  simple presentation done for my boss by the end of the afternoon.
I  have created set of dials/meters with moving arms that change as  buttons are pressed.  The arms move based on a "Classic Tween" set-up I  created.  I then applied my buttons to the flash document and then coded  in some "gotoAndPlay" on an actions layer to get the arms on the dials  to move when I click on the buttons.  My problem is that since I have 3  buttons (High, Medium & Low) and the tweens follow one frame right  after another (0, 41,78) there is no stop.  When I click on Low it plays  the low tween, the medium one, and the high tween.  When I click on the  medium it plays both the Medium and then the High.  The High button  obviously only plays itself.  I don't know how to insert a stop between  these buttons.  Can you guys help me?  I have pasted my simple code  below os you can see it:
stop();
low_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onLow);
function onLow (Event:MouseEvent):void
     gotoAndPlay(0)
med_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onMed);
function onMed (Event:MouseEvent):void
     gotoAndPlay(41)
high_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onHigh);
function onHigh (Event:MouseEvent):void
     gotoAndPlay(75)
Please, please, please help me.
Thank you so much.

This answer seems intuitive, but I am wondering how to add that stop?
Do I add the stop to my Actions Layer or on the layer that has the actual moving arm?
Also, how to apply it to the specific frame? Just put the frame number in the paranthesis?
Thanks

  • Is it possible to stop a tween in a movie clip

    Hello Kglad and other forum expert!
    I have a movie clip (really just an image converted to a
    movie clip).
    I a "zoom" effect set on two layers - on for the zoom mask,
    and the other for the base image.
    I just use the modify/transform in some keyframes to have the
    image motion tween from normal size to a larger size.
    The tween (aka zoom) is shown through the mask layer.
    I did not create the motion tween using actionscript, but in
    the timeline between 2 keyframes.
    Is there a way I can stop the tween when the movie plays ( by
    clicking a "pause" button).
    Thanks for a great info resource,
    eholz1

    you can use the stop() method of movieclips to stop the
    timeline of the tweening movieclip. you can use the play() method
    to continue to tweening.

  • My refresh button will not appear in 4.0, all I can get is a stop and home button, the refresh shows up in customize toolbar and I can put it up there, but as soon as I close it it dissapears, how do I get my beloved refresh button to show up?

    At first I had the stop/refresh buttons merged, which I hated so I tried putting spaces and things between them to stop their unholy union, but instead it has now made my refresh button dissapear in anger for not being allowed to see that dirty stop button! I cannot make it come back! Even if I put it on the toolbar in customize and it shows up, the moment I close it it has gone again.

    Firefox 4 uses a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar.<br />
    During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Reload button.<br />
    If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button.<br />
    You can middle-click that Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab.
    To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
    * Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
    * Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
    * Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    * Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons.

  • Stopping Yoyo tweens...

    Been racking my brains on the issue of stopping a tween
    onRollOver of a movie clip. I've used tween.stop()....and delete
    tween....created a boolean variable that flags false when I
    rollOver the mc. Not sure what else there is...all I can get is a
    sort of jiggle from the clip which should stop where the mouse had
    contacted it. Your help would be very much appreciated!!!

    There isn't a lot that you can do with Flash's built in Tween
    class. You can do much better if you use a third party Tween
    library. I use TweenMax. Here's a link to the AS2 version:

  • After updating firefox my Reload Page and Stop Loading Page buttons disappeared. How do I get them back?

    see question

    In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
    When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
    If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

  • Stop and reload buttons

    When are we going to get stop and reload buttons in Safari?

  • Stop and refresh buttons

    Stop and refresh buttons (one will disappear while the other is active). I have found numerous websites that just don't want to load on the first try, now I am unable to refresh it (usually in a new tab) because the button disappears. BTW 255 limit is BS.

    You can try to press the ESC key to stop loading the page if you see the Stop button instead of the Reload button. You can also reload the page via F5 or Ctrl + F5 (cache bypass).
    Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.
    To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
    * Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
    * Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
    * Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.

  • How to stop a tween in full swing?

    how can I stop a tween in full swing? stop won't work...
    (flash 8 as2)
    import mx.transitions.Tween;
    import mx.transitions.easing.*;
    var animTween:Tween = new Tween(thumbnail_mc, "_x",
    Strong.easeOut, thumbnail_mc._x, -menu, 50, true);
    function buttonHandler() {
    animTween.stop();
    many thanks!!!

    stop() works just fine. It must be that within
    buttonHandler() you don't
    have scope to animTween. Try tracing animTween:
    function buttonHandler() {
    trace(animTween);
    animTween.stop();
    I'm thinking you won't see [Tween], but instead will see
    undefined.

  • CP7 stopping a few buttons from complete

    I have developed a course where learners have to correctly click through a series of screens to complete four scenarios. Many of the buttons are set to report as part of the 'quiz' so that we can do some click-tracking for common errors, but only 4 buttons are added to the score. The last button of each scenario is the only button that is adding to the point total. Passing score is set at 4 points, because there are 4 scenarios. The learner can navigate through the four scenarios in their own track, and once the each scenario is completed correctly, they are returned to a switchboard which has a checkmark graphic displayed for the scenarios that have been completed.
    So...here's my problem I can't figure out. Regardless of order the scenarios are done in, two or three buttons from the end, the entire module hangs. I have never been able to finish all 4 scenarios. The first tree work great, the fourth stops a few buttons from the end. Is there a problem with the .swf/connect reporting that the learner is getting CLOSE to passing or something? I could see a problem once they complete the fourth scenario, but a few buttons before?
    I have CP7 running on Win 7 (64bit) using Adobe Connect for our reporting. I have the latest Flash player on my system. I have tested the module by publishing to Connect and by running the module locally (from my desktop). I have tested in Firefox and IE. I have published using Flash 10 and Flash 11. I have even opened it in CP6 and published in Flash 9. Regardless of file location, flash version and/or browser combo I use, I am still getting the same issue.
    Any ideas/suggestions/places to look for a solution?

    RobWard,
    Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of inserting captions that display for the rest of the project so I can debug variables. I had never thought of that and I will use that in future projects, as well as this one.
    As far as this specific question goes, I found a solution before you responded that I wanted to document here, and maybe get someone to clarify why it worked. I noticed that I was using the quizzing functionality without having a single question slide. I was somply reporting from custom buttons. I kept reading that that quiz reporting slide had some functionality to it (particularly reporting completion, if I remember correctly), but I did not have a quiz results slide (because I had no question slides).
    I added a fake question (as slide #1) with zero points for the question. When I inserted a question, the quiz results slide automatically was added to my project (as the last slide...slide 119). I hid both the results and the question (and made sure to remove them from the TOC...) and the problem never happened again. All reporting was perfect and it never hung on the last of the four scenarios.
    Problem solved...just not sure exactly why...

  • Certain sites do not load properly. I have to click the Stop loading page button, the click reload page to fully load the site.

    Using Firefox 6.0.1 on Windows XP SP3. When I navigate to certain sites (nytimes.com for example), Firefox loads most of the page, but some graphics are missing and the green circle in the tab keeps spinning. Typically I have to click the Stop Loading Page button, then click the Reload Page button to get Firefox to load the remaining items in the website. Seems to get stuck with images.

    This type of problem is normally caused by using an incompatible add-on. For details of how to troubleshoot this to find out what one is causing the problem see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
