Trivia Game: Error while testing CS3 app in CS4
I have been attempting to test an exercise file for a Trivia
Game written in AS3 using the Flash CS3 IDE.
Unfotunately I have been receiving two errors each time its
run while using Flash Professional CS4.:
<ol>
<li><strong> 1023: Incompatible override.
</strong></li>
<li><strong> 1021: Duplicate function
definition.</strong></li>
</ol>
each of these errors occur on the same line:
<ul>
<li> <strong>public function showScore()
{</strong></li>
</ul>
Can anyone help? The code and everyIt appears that showScore is some sort of reserved word in
CS4 or one of the CS4 libraries. Just change every showScore in the
code to something else like showGameScore and it should
work. -
Resizing IE window makes game errors
I am running Windows Vista and the latest Java Run Time, If I open up runescape in full screen the game plays with no problems, if I then resize the window (smaller) visually it looks fine until I try to click somewhere with the mouse, and I end up clicking an inch or so under where I wanted, if I resize back to full screen it is fine again.
Conversely if I open the screen window in small the game works fine, if I then resize (larger) I get the image the same size as the small screen and the rest of the screen is white and once again the mouse does not click in the right place.
I have the latest driver from NVIDEA, however this may have something to do with it, I updated the driver because the older driver kept failing and closing the game window down, I no longer get that problem, just replaced it with a new one.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks for reading.
Edited by: Athelstan1 on Sep 23, 2008 8:27 AMHi Isla
Your message is really, very, very long. I think its too long to read it twice ;)
. Regarding all your issues on this notebook well. it looks like you have installed many 3rd party programs and applications. In such case its not easy to say if such issues are software or hardware related. But I presume its software.
I checked your screenshot pic but I have never seen such error message. But it looks like something wrong with the graphic card driver. The message says something about Live Kernel Event
A kernel's services are requested by other parts of the operating system like graphic card driver for example.
In such case I would recommend updating the graphic driver. According to you message its a Intel GPU. So you could check the Intel page for the compatible graphic chip driver.
Regarding the FN key issue;
The Toshiba FlashCard utility controls the FN key functionality. I have read in this forum that this application does not run smoothly and in some cases it causes some issues. The new update should solve the problems. You should check the Toshiba driver page. The FlashCard Utility is a part of the Toshiba Value added package.
So finally one more hint:
You should always check for the Vista updates on the Microsoft page. This OS is not perfected and Microsoft releases very often patches and fixes
Hope it could helps a little bit.
If necessary just ask for more info :)

Music trivia game error message
i'm having problems accessing my music trivia game. it worked when i got the ipod last week, but now that i've used it a bit, whenever i go to play my music trivia, "no songs found, error" appears on my screen. does anyone know why? is there some way i can fix it? i have only deleted a couple of songs and added a whole album (18 songs) but that's the extent of the changes i've made with the nano. any help would be appreciated
thanks
PC Windows XP SonyIf I reset the iPod, that means all the songs will be deleted too, right? I'm still a little unclear with all these 5 R's thrown into the mix every which way!
Thanks -
I have the Sims 3 game since I got my MacBook Pro in 2010, with all the expansions and stuff. But some weeks ago the game doesn't work as fast as before and it suddenly closes telling about an error or simply closing the game or sometimes stucking the whole computer.
If anyone experienced something like this, not only with the sims game but also with other games, please tell me what to do. I went to the apple store in Barcelona and they didn't know what happened with my little mac.
Thanks everyone!Try starting with some basic maintenance:
Disk Utility
Disk Utility Repair Permissions You Can Safely Ignore
Reset NVRAM/PRAM
Reset SMC
General Maintenance Recommendations -
I'm Jin. I have some questions.
I can't buy application. Error said: "Please contact iTunes Support to complete this transaction".
I do not understand why it is so. It is game Clash of clan. Please help me.
Thank you so much!You can contact iTunes Support at http://apple.com/support/itunes/contact/.

IPod nano [3rd Generation] - Game Error
I just go my ipod for christmas and it is was working fine. Just about half an hour ago i put it on to play a game (vortex) and it said:
Error
This game cannot be launched
This may be the result of a full iPod
For more information, please visit http://apple.com/support/iPod
i did go to the site and i could not find anything that would help...does anyone know what is wrong??I can not add much more, but saying that I face the same problem with a french version of a nano 3rd gen 4G.
The message in french is similar (although instead of "this game can not be launched" it is "the ipod might be saturated").
It happens while using the games, which were provided with the ipod: It works fine and then it can happen that the message pops up.
I got it reset and then reuse it. The issue is kind of random. -
120GB Classic filled halfway. Games error - Device Full
I have 16,000 tracks with playlists on a 120GB classic. The music isn't playing, screen just shows the music like it's playing, but the time counter doesn't move. It does this on all songs. Went to access a game and there was an error message saying that it cannot access a game becasue the device is full. There are 48.3GB of available space on the iPod. Any clues?
I think the problem is not hard-drive space, but ram. It may not be relevant to your case, but in the past I had created quite at lot of large interdependent smart playlists. As I put more music onto the iPod I began to find that it would reset when I played certain games, then any game, then occasionally just navigating menus could cause it, so I set about restoring. When I rebuilt the iPod I would use the method below and everything would work fine until I completeted the final phase of importing all my playlists. Once I suspected that the playlists might be the cause I went through them simplyfing the rules where possible or just excluding them from the sync list. My iPod has been fine ever since.
tt2
<hr>
*Break up large transfers*
In iTunes select the menu item *File... New Smart Playlist*. Change the first drop-down box to Playlist, the next to is and the next to Music. Tick against *Limit to*, type in say 10, then change the drop-down to GB, and set the last drop-down to artist. When you click OK you can enter a name for the playlist, e.g. Transfer. Now sync this playlist to your iPod rather than your entire library. When the sync is complete modify the rule ( *File... Edit playlist* ) to increase the size by your chosen amount, then sync and repeat. You can experiment with different size increments, if it doesn't work just choose something a bit smaller until it works each time. Before long you should have all your music on your iPod. Once that's done you can move on to other media such as podcasts, videos, photos, playlists etc. -
I am having so much trouble trying to debug this poker game, it seems like when I try to fix one error something else is wrong it. Then when I try to run it I get for example 0 of null, I know its doing that because something wrong with my println statement in the driver class, but any help is much appreciated as this assignment is due Sunday.

System.out.println();
}As the comment in your code mentions, you only create a container to hold card objects. You then need to populate your container, aka array with Card objects.

Loading maps for a 2d game ERROR
Hi i'm trying to just get a basic map working but i keep getting and error and i'm not sure what is causing it.
Here is the code:
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
class MapExample extends JFrame {
ArrayList <String> lines = new ArrayList <String> ();
int lgth;
int bdth;
String userResponse;
int level;
char[][] myMap;
public MapExample() {
readMap();
parseMap();
public static void main(String args[]) {
System.out.println("Starting MapExample...");
MapExample mainFrame = new MapExample();
mainFrame.setSize(400, 400);
mainFrame.setTitle("MapExample");
mainFrame.setVisible(true);
public void readMap () {

Cheers PaulI second the recommendation of putting your code within code tags.
See which is easier to read, this code without tags:

resetList();
public RandomLetters(int size, char startingChar) throws Exception
this.size = size;
this.startingChar = startingChar;

and the same code with tags:

private Random rand;

when I play flash games and moves it lags immensively I am using Windows vista and google chrome 21.0.1180.60. If I play on IE it works perfectly. I have got a video of it just follow this linkhttp://www.sendspace.com/file/21vkak .You can find the game following this linkhttp://gratisspil.dk/onlineGame/games/play.php?id=4449#commentsPaginator=1.
I have tried everything on the support page.This forum software is very tricky; updates to forum posts sometimes need to be done three or four times until it "takes". I have been able to update your original post.
Now that it is actually readable, I will go and have a look at it. -
