Planning reverse engineering strange behaviour

Hi
When I try to reverse engineer a Planning application I get some strage behaviour. First time when I do it all my ODI UI's freeze. I have to close them from task manager. When I open the UIs again and go to Operator I see the reverse enigeering process still runs. But when I do reverse engineering second time it works fine. Reverse takes few seconds. Has anyone faced this issue before. Its happening only the first time I do.
-app

Hi,
I have seen this when using the local agent, it never seems to happen when you create a new agent and use that.
Cheers

    Hello Gurus,
We are attempting to do reverse engineer planning application but it is failing with below given error. We are on ODI 11.1.1.5g and hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1x. Our project is up and running, we are able to successfully load metadata into planning now also.
We have created new model and used new planning application to reverse engineer but still it failed.
We have also created new repository and created new model but here too the reverse engineer failed. Please advice what is the solution for this error.

  • Unable to Perform Reverse Engineering, of Hyperion Planning in ODI 11.1.1.6

    Dear Gurus and Experts.
I'm trying to reverse engineer had made a model of the Hyperion Planning.
    After configuring the topology.
    Steps:
    A)
    Physical Architecture:
    machine.mycompany.com: 11333, user / pdw (here's Hyperion Planning)
    Physical Layout:
Catalog Application - I wrote: myapphp
Implementation and Application of Work - I wrote: myapphp
1_doubt: I expected to be able to select the physical layout, the field catalog application, an application name that is in Hyperion Planning.
But I saw that does not work well. I had to enter.
is this right? or just this wrong in my settings?
    B)
    Logical Architecture:
    Context: Global
    Associated with LS_HP_myapp
    C)
    In Contexts:
    Global, contains the association.
logical scheme: LS_HP_myapp for Physical Schema: myapphp
    D)
    In Designer.
    I want to reverse engineer;
    Criated a folder, added a model;
name: mymodelhp, selected technology: hyperion planning
    logical schema: LS_HP_myapp
    em group of generic actions.
    Saved.
    E)
    And clicked on Reverse Engineering
Then the error ODI: 20616 Failed Reverse Engineering Standard.

  • [SOLVED] French Canadian keyboard strange behaviour

    Hello!
I just upgraded to Gnome 2.30 in [testing] and my keyboard has a strange behaviour. With Gnome 2.28, my keyboard layout was set to Canadian French (legacy), and still is, though some of the keys do not behave the same. For instance, the accents "`", "¸" and ^ do not behave as usual, but rather give me some letter with that accent on it, rather than letting me choose the letter on which put the accent.
Moreover, the SHIFT+3 combination gives me a # instead of a /, but not in all software. Google Chrome has the good behaviour, but gnome-terminal gives me a #.
Do you understand any of this?
I'll post the packages I have upgraded.

    Problem solved!
I remembered I once configured my keyboard with HAL and /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-keymap.fdi was set to xkb.layout=ca and xkd.variant=fr. I changed the GDM layout to Canada and removed the xkb.variant=fr from the .fdi file and everything was fixed!

  • Reverse Engineering huge database

    Hi,
Iam trying to reverse engineer (using oracle designer) a huge database ( more than 1,000 tables and forms & reports ) developed using forms & reports - 9i.
Being a new to oracle designer, (through internet study) I was able to do reverse engineer for small database and could create only ER-diagrams. but I really don't have any idea, how to handle a huge database.
So please, if any one have an idea about reverse engineering a existing database kindly answer the below questions....
    1. How to import entire database to repository?.
    2. What is the best way to import the huge database, importing entire database at once or in parts ??
    3. We can do reverse engineer and create ER-Diagram from existing database. but I need to create Process diagram and Dataflow diagram also, Is there any way to create this 2 diagrams automatically just like ER-diagram from existing database ??
    4. How to import all forms & reports to repository at once. How to create Process diagram and Dataflow diagram from forms and reports ?
    Thanking You
    regards,
    Lokesh

My advise is DON'T. Don't try to reverse engineer the whole application in one fell swoop.
Instead decide what parts of the application do you need to work with RIGHT NOW, and reverse engineer those parts. There are no applications that use ALL of the tables in a single form or related set of forms. In fact, I'll bet that 90% of your application uses only 10% of the tables. You may even decide that you NEVER need to reverse engineer the other 90%.
In deciding what to bring into Designer, simply ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?". If you don't plan to re-design, re-write, do major maintenance, or otherwise change the table, form, or report, skip it for now. If you need it to help understand the parts of the database that you DO plan to change, then MAYBE you want to reverse engineer it soon. Otherwise, leave it on the "to-be-done" list, and don't fret too much if you don't get to it. Believe me, if you really need it, you WILL get to it.

  • Communication Channel Strange Behaviour

    Hi,
We are facing a strange behaviour with communication channel monitoring in RWB for JMS Adapter.
I am sending data from IDoc to JMS. Message is processed successfully inside Integration Engine of PI.Message monitoring in RWB shows status successful. But ,if I monitor communication channel in RWB, under cluster node --> cluster node for Channel 'X' shows status green & in short log - I got an message "JMS message processed successfully at 2009-04-17|05:25:06+0100;JMS & XI identifiers are ID :414d515 & 457e345 respectively".
This information is always updated, when i run my interface & shows the latest three enteries there with information provided above in bold.
But if i see the processing details for Cluster node (Where we usually see the processing of message with its Message ID), there is no entry with Time Stamp & message ID & explanation.
Any idea why such a behaviour?
    Thanks,
    Venky

    Hi,
    hmmmm..........strange............
just check if you have multiple server nodes and you are selecting the server node with msg processing and then whether in processing details you are seeing your msgs or not............
also check if the msgs are processed just now or are processed some hours ago - if they are processed some hours ago then may be you do not have their processing details available currently but if they are processed just now, then you should be able to see their processing details..........
if the problem remains, then ask your basis guys to restart your XI J2EE engine and see if you then able to get processing details for your new msgs.........

    Rajeev Gupta

  • ODI Reverse-Engineering Question

We've been using ODI 10.3.5.1 for about a year now. The current load process was set up for us during implementation of Hyperion Planning. We are now trying to add a new dimension to our hierarchy, and I mistakenly went in and added the columns manually to all the models I could think of. I also added the columns into the source and target datastores in the interfaces manually.
Naturally, the load did not work. I keep getting the error "invalid column name 'Cost_Center'. I have been told by the installer (over email) that i should have reverse-engineered the models, and let the program build all the datastores. I tried to do the reverse-engineering, and am now getting an error for the HYP_PLANNING model, and the HYP_ESSBASE model runs and runs and runs, without doing anything noticeable.
How long should a reversal run? I don't believe our hierarchy is extraordinarily huge.
This is all in the TEST environment right now, but I need to put things in LIVE for August financials, so I have until 9/9/09 to figure this stuff out. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the quick response.
Like I said, it was done by the consultant, so I don't even know what an agent is.
As for the error, it was:

  • Forward and Reverse Engineering

    Hello,
Iu2019m very new to ABAP Objects and I want to know, if there any solution for Forward Engineering, which means you modeled some classes in an UML tool like ARIS and import the XMI-File in the SAP-System and its generating the classes automatically?
Well, I´m also interested in Reverse Engineering. Do you know a solution for an export of classes to an external UML tool (maybe via XMI)?
    Thanks for your answers.
Edited by: Neil Gardiner on Sep 24, 2010 9:47 AM

    Hi,
ABAP -> UML reverse engineering functionality is available starting with release 7.02 and 7.20.
You will find them in transaction SE80 in the context menu of classes, interfaces, programs and function-groups (Display -> UML Class Diagram). The UML class diagram cannot be manually modified but there are many options to configure it. There is no plan for supporting two-way-editing functionality in the future. Nevertheless you will be able to print the UML class diagram, export the UML class diagram in XMI format (without graphic) or as an bitmap and you will be able to generate an ABAPDoc like HTML document including UML class diagram bitmaps.
The XMI file can be imported in third party UML tools (e.g. StarUML and Altova UModel), to generate UML diagrams and to modify the classes and interfaces. Therefore, XMI download can be very useful in ABAP refactoring projects. Because of the ABAP Objects UML Class Diagram is designed for reverse engineering, there is currently no plan for an XMI upload functionality.

After spending time with Oracle support we were told that the reason why it would continually error out was due to a dimension named "Data Type". This is apparently a reserved word in ODI, and affects only the Planning reverse (not Essbase). After renaming the dimension to Data_Type, the Planning reverse worked fine. We have also been told that Essbase reverses are not affected by this issue. Has anyone seen this before?
FYI - the environment includes ODI 10.1.3.5.0 and Planning 11.1.1.3 as well as Essbase 11.1.1.3. We have recommended that they patch ODI to at least 10.1.3.5.5.

Thank you - this is very helpful. I was getting the same error when trying to reverse the planning application.
Caused by: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_REV_COL'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.SNP_REV_COL'.
Low and behold, there is a dimension in the planning application I am trying to migrate called "Data Type". I haven't changed the name in the HSP_OBJECTS table yet to see if it resolves the issue when I attempt the reverse again but looks to be the same problem.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • KYF exhibits strange behaviour with decimals

    Hi everybody,
a DEC-key figure (IOBJ maintenance: additional properties->BEx->decimal places: Nothing Defined) exhibits strange behaviour regarding the treatment of decimals.
When looking at the data in the cube (InfoCube maintenance->content) the value is 2,086.
In the query the result is 2.0900000000 (%).
Now comes the problem: in BPS (in the buffer) the value is 2,08. The system simply truncates the figure!  This is the value which is also used in the FOX and produces the wrong result.
I need the system to sensibly round the values correctly to 2 decimals OR work with an additional decimal place.  How can this be done?
    Thanks for any input,
    Martin

    Hi,
In the manual planning, while designing the layout, there is a setting in data columns tab called decimals. You have to insert 2 under this. Then in the layout data will be displayed with 2 decimal places.
    Hope this helps.

  • Reverse engineering SQL (not database)

    Hello,
Is it planned to provide a tool to reverse engineer SQL statements as Sourceforge's Revj (Reverse Snowflakes Joins) do ?
This tool generates an ER Diagramm from an SQL Statement without connecting to the database. a demo is available at http://snowflakejoins.com/
Nb: It works fine with statements comming from SIEBEL or Oracle BI Analytics.
    Regards
    PAscal

You can Reverse engineering any database that
you have an ODBC driver installed for (you can set up an ODBC link to access via the ODBC administration utility under Oracle for Windows NT). From the menu choose Generate=> Capture Design of => Server Model. This brings up a tabbed dialouge box with three source settings.Choose the last radio group item - ODBC. There you will find a choice for MS Acess v7.0 (note:type will be set for you automatically).
    Much success.

  • Populate List from Database (Very Strange Behaviour)

    Dear Fellows,
I have developed a from which has two lists One for Major (say) and Other for Minor (say), thesr minors are based on the value of Major.
Now I have developed this system on Windows XP Professional, Developer/2000 6i and Oracle 8i (release 8.1.7).
Major list is populated from database and it shows all major values now using 'when_list_change' trigger the minor list is populated from the database based on the value of major list. Interestingly enough it is working fine without any problem.
Now I have deployed the software to Windows 2000 Professional/Server (tried on both), Developer/2000 6i and Oracle 8.0.5, but strangly the lists are not working now. First list (major) is still working but the other dependent lists are not working.
Another strange thing is that it populate the second list for one particular value (only at times).
The logic is that I have used a program unit to which i am passing 'list element' and 'query' and call it for each list in the when-list-change trigge.
Now its a very strange behaviour, I don't know what to do?
Your cooperation will be highly appreciated.
    regards.

    Hi,
I have Nokia N8 (a great phone, btw) with Symbian Anna. I wanted to download the maps. But the PC Ovi Suite is just busy forever, without downloading anything (I used Performance Monitor to find out it was doing nothing for hours).
As I have unlimited data plan from my phone, I decided to try updating directly from the phone instead. It successfully downloaded the list of maps, but when I selected one of them
"No Wi-Fi network available. Please configure a WiFi access point in the phone Internet destination settings."
Why should I do that? I have a working connection on that phone (as evidenced by the successful download of the list of maps). So now, I am stuck. How can I download the maps?
Well, the suggestion is there. Use a router.

  • Strange behaviour in a select

    Hi experts,
i'd like you help to understand a strange behaviour on a 10.2.0.4 db.
i use a select instruction in a plsql cursor with a where condition like the following:
    select fields
    from table1, table2, table3
    where
    field1 = parameter 1 and
    field2 = parameter 2 and
    field3 = parameter 3 and
    function(field1, field2) = 0
usually this instruction works without problems.
Sometimes (i think depending on the parameter) it stucks.
I have moved the last row of the where condition right after the where instruction:
    select fields
    from table1, table2, table3
    where
    function(field1, field2) = 0 and
    field1 = parameter 1 and
    field2 = parameter 2 and
    field3 = parameter 3
and it works with the usual performances (with the parameters that does not work on the first select).
The function returns quickly it's result regardless the parameter used.
I've compared (by toad) the execuption plan of the two selects and they are the same.
Could you please explain this behaviour ?
i can leave on the package the release 2 select but i'm not sure it fixes the problem.
I'd like to understand something more ?
    thanks in advance
    best regards
    Stefano

If toad doesn't show predicate information (I don't use it) run your queries in sqlplus.

    Hello,
it seems to be working now. The only change I did was to increase the java heap size, but it feels a bit strange that it should have anything to do with the problem in question.
Anyway thanks very much for your help.
