Play frame for 30 seconds, then gotoAndPlay();

Ok, I can't figure out how to make this work.  I am working in AS2, and am looking for a code that allows me to stop the frame (which is easy: stop();) and then make that frame "play" if you will for 30 seconds, and then gotoAndPlay("nextframe"). Is this even possible? I know there's a getTimer(); code, but I have no idea how it works.  Any help would be great!
(I have animations going on in the different frames through movie clips, not on the timeline.  Basically trying to make a "movie" with flash)

You can use the setTimeout() function to delay calling a function.  In that function you can execute the nextFrame() function call.  Here the example found in the help documents adjusted to your needs...
var my_timedProcess:Number = setTimeout(my_delayedFunction, 30000);
function my_delayedFunction () {
    nextFrame();

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • My iPod nano 2nd edition has died on me. I can press on menu and centre of the wheel and the apple logo comes on for seconds, then I get a glimpse of the menu list then the screen goes dead. What can I do? Can anyone help please?

MY iPod Nano 2nd generation iPod has died on me. I've charged it both by connecting to my laptop and also separately. I press the centre wheel and menu and the apple logo appears for a few seconds, then I get a glimpse of the menu then it disappears again. I have tried everything even leaving it plugged into the power for about four hours but it made no difference. What can I do?

Probably not a good sign especially given the age of the device.  Are you able to get it into Disk Mode long enough so that you can restore it in iTunes?

Otherwise, it might be time to have the iPod serviced or replaced.

  • Plays only 20 seconds, then freezes

I have the U2 edition iPod and on Friday I added new songs (roughly 150?). After I did that my brother borrowed it and used his own headphones.
Since yesterday, when I play songs, it only plays 20 seconds and then stops, moves to the next song and it repeats the cycle. When I use the clicker to go back or change playlists, it freezes for a few seconds and then the same cycle starts again.
I dont know what happened or how to fix it.
    Any suggestions?

  • Cartoons play a few seconds then stops, then starts, then stops, just started doing this

My grandson likes to watch a cartoon with me in the evening, suddenly when I bring them up now they start to play, then stops, then starts, this just started happening, my grandson would appreciate any help resolving this.  Thanks

Check to make sure your video is loading.
The red indicates what has already played and the white indicated the portion of the video that is loaded but unplayed.  If you have no white bar and the movie plays and then stops it is because your video is having trouble loading in which case you wil want to select a lower quality video by clicking on the gear icon.
YouTube uses a program called Adobe Flash player to play the cartoons. If your seeing the white bar in front of your video, the first thing I would try would be to remove the Adobe Flash software and reinstall the latsest version. Allow me to explain how to do this:
Step 1: Download the Adobe Flash uninstaller from here, for help running the uninstaller Adobe has good directions on their website which you can view here.
Step 2: Once you receive the notice that Adobe Flash player has been successfully removed, download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player here.  If you need help running this installer Adobe again has good insturctions here.
Once finished, go back to the YouTube cartoon you are having trouble with and let us know if your still having any issues.

    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iPod Updater and click “Restore”
In case you do not manage to do a “Format” on a window computer, try to use some 3rd party disk utility software, e.g.“HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool”.

  • QT playing video a few seconds then turns green

I've tried a bunch of things but still can't fix this problem. When playing back a quicktime file either streaming or downloaded, video plays a few seconds then turns green and starts using a lot of system resources. I'm using Nvidia video card and have no problems playing any other types of media. Is this a problem with codec or QT7 and graphics card?

Always best for initial first time startup, to do it with just one RAM stick in the primary blue dimm slot. A couple thoughts, first is use just the one RAM stick & load the OS & all the drivers, then add the other sticks. The other thought is to try each RAM stick individually in the primary slot to rule out a bad or failing stick.

  • Script single button to play frames, then skip some, and continue play?

Just as the topic says, I want to script a button to go to
and play through a motion tween, but then skip some frames to then
play another motion tween all in one button press. For example,
play frame 1 which plays the tween and ends at frame 10 (I have
that part down fine) but then for it to skip ahead to continue to
play frame 20 and then of course stop once it finishes that motion
    tween.
Tried a few searches but its too many words to explain so I
wasnt finding anything. Its probably a simple command im just not
familiar with yet. Can anyone help?

I probably should have been more specific. I cant add
anything to the timeline because I have multiple buttons using the
first tween, which is a fade out. Thats why I need a script to add
to each button only to play through that first common tween, and
then skip to play an individual tween set for each button. Like
button 1 goes through the first common tween, a fade out (plays
    frames 41 - 53) and its individual tween is frames 54 - 66. This
works fine of course because the tweens are next to each other.
Button 2's individual tween starts on frame 67, so it needs to play
through the common tween fade (41 - 53) skip Button 1's frames, and
continue play on 67. These buttons are located on frame 1 (main
menu) so is it even possible to script a button to do such a thing?
I figured there would be but nothing im trying or seeing online is
working. Heh... does this make sense? :o
The only other way I know it will work is if I copy and paste
all the information in the layers before each section but that
causes me to have to push a lot of information further down the
timeline, kinda making a big mess and causing me to rescript all
    frames there.

  • My songs play 10 seconds then switch to the next

My itunes is yacked!  My songs and or videos play about 10 seconds then automatically switch to the next song. I synced and now my ipod does too!  I have looked everywhere and cant figure it out!  HELP!

I found that removing them from my iTunes library, then re-adding them, solved the problem. No idea why this should be happening though; the 30-second bit is surprising, and I wonder if it has something to do with 30-second previews that are available on some web sites. Perhaps there's some sort of marker in the file, and iTunes interprets it as the end of the file. But why re-adding them fixed the issue, I know not.

  • New Problem - video loads, plays a bit, pauses, then plays without sound.

On the first time that I used the TV-Out feature of the iPod, videos that normally were playing properly started to lag. The video would play about 15 seconds, then stop playing for a few seconds, then start again, but without sound. I just thought it might be because of the TV-Out feature, but after that incident, a large amount of my videos have been doing this, without using the TV-Out.
My first use of the tv-out feature was around the time that I first updated the iPod firmware. I now realise that I have no need of the updated firmware, so would be willing to restore the iPod to factory settings, but would rather get some opinions first.
Although these videos had played normally before, now they (and most all videos I have added since), do this when playing:
Load up normally, play normally for about 15 seconds, pause and do nothing, then continue playing but without sound. If I use the clickwheel to skip ahead after it pauses, it will play normally for another 5 seconds or so and then pause and cut the sound again.
I had not experienced anything like this before that first time I used the TV-out capability. Nor had I experienced it before updating the iPod. Now, many, but not all of my videos are doing this.
Oh, it seems only the videos longer than 10 minutes are doing this... all the others work... some more testing would be needed to be certain. Video podcasts are playing fine. So... anyone else had this happen?

This problem seems to occur for the 60GB models that are using the new firmware 1.1. It has been posted all over google and the only fix to this problem is to downgrade to 1.0. The problem is reported as not to affect the 30GB models but there are a few videos on my ipod (30GB) that suffer from this as well. I haven't downgraded by 30GB one to check if it fixes it, but I can assure you that it will fix the problem for the 60GB one (I used to have that one before).

  • Newly purchased songs stop playing after 12 seconds

I have reviewed many posts on this topic and have yet to find what appears to be a solution.
Here is what is going on:
I recently upgraded my system from an aged laptop running xp home to the current desktop running xp pro.
My collection of songs include from CD's and from apple store. I transferred over the songs only but not the library to the new system.
All the old songs seem to play just fine.
I have now purchased some new songs on the new system. These new songs will play for 8-12 seconds and then stop and play the next song for 8-12 songs, then stop and etc until it reaches one of the songs collected from the previous system. Then it plays those completely.
What I have done so far:
    1. Deleted the authorization file. re-authorized the songs. The same songs are still stopping at the same interval 8-12 seconds.
    2. Played the songs in quicktime. The same songs still stop after 8-12 seconds.
    3. I disabled anti-spyware, and anti-virus programs. same issue remains.
    4. I ran a McAfee AntiVirus scan and came up clean.
Again these songs were all downloaded successfully from the Apple Ipod store. I have the latest version of ITunes now.
    Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem with at least two songs that I know of, one is an iTunes download (encrypted) the other was imported from a CD using iTunes (no encryption). Both songs play 2-3 seconds then immediately go to the next song. The "weird" thing -- I plugged my iPod into my new MacBook which has no songs other than what are on my iPod (i.e., not playing the song from another source) and both songs play fine. Unplug the iPod from the computer, plug in headphones and the songs skip again.
I've gone through the 5 R's as well, with no luck.

  • Frames to Seconds

Hi, my composition and timeline are in Frames but I want them to be in seconds. How do I change my composition and timeline from Frames to Seconds?
Also in my "Composition Settings" under "Duration" it says: Duration: 0006 + 4 fps. How do I reset AE to default settings? I think i changed something by accident.
    Thanks

If your timecode display is looks like this 0;00;00;00 then your frame rate can't be 30 fps. It's probably 29.97 fps.
If your composition is 300 frames long then at 29.97 fps the Drop Frame Timecode display would be 0:00:09:29 when the time line indicator is at the end of the composition. The timecode displays the hours, minutes, seconds and frames corrected to correspond to real time. Because you're counting in base 30 (thirty frames per second) but the footage is actually running a little slower (29.97 frames per second) the timecode display skips some frame numbers so that the hours, minutes, and seconds part of the display corresponds to real time.
The reason that the timecode display doesn't read 0;00;10;00 is that the CTI (current time indicator) is parked at the head of the last frame and showing you the last frame, and telling you at what time the last frame is going to start playing.
If your frame rate is the standard NTSC 29.97 and your timecode display is set to NON Drop Frame you should see 0:00:09:29 as the display because that's how the numbers work out. However if your composition was 10 minutes long you'd have 17982 frames (29.97 X 60 X 10) your Drop Frame timecode display would be 0;09;59;29 but your Non Drop Frame timecode display would be 0:09:59:11. As you can see, the hours, minutes and seconds are still close, but the frames are off by about two thirds of a second. You still have the same number of frames, but the time display is off. Drop Frame timecode display was created so that you could easily determine the actual playing time of a video tape. If you were dealing with hour long programs your programs would be about 5 seconds short.
I hope this didn't confuse you.
If your project is actually 30 frames per second then there drop frame timecode could not be applied to your project.

  • ITunes plays a few seconds and skips

My daughter's PC crashed and I had to rebuild it, but I was able to get her music off of the drive before I rebuilt.
An odd thing is happening now. She has several songs that she purchased from the iTunes store that will play a few seconds, then skip to the next song. They do it on her PC and mine (where I copied the music before I rebuilt her PC). Both are Windows XP Pro.
The files appear to be full size. I have burned them to a CD through iTunes, but they do the same thing on a CD player. If I open them in QuickTime, they play all the way through, but have periodic "skips" in the song, the first occurring where it completely stops in iTunes. They also only play a few seconds on the iPod before skipping to the next song.
It isn't all of her music and it's not all of her purchased music. It is just selected songs.
I found a thread on another message board somewhere of someone with the same problem, but as is usually the case, there was not resolution given.
Does anyone have any ideas what caused it and how we can correct the problem? Will Apple do anything about it?

If the song was corrupted during the import into iTunes, it needs deleting from there (and your iPod) and re-importing.
