Playback bug?

I've submitted the following via feedback, but I figured I'd let this be known to see if it's reproducable:
I guess I've encountered a bug that occurs when you replace a [partial] audio track with a longer version of another. For example, if you have a 30 minute mix that you later replace with a full 2-hour mix, and attempt to skip to the 1-hour mark while playing the new 2-hour version, the progress/playback bar will jump to the duration of the previously replaced mix, the 30 minute mark in this example. If you stop playback, move to the progress bar to the 1-hour mark and press play, iTunes will hang for a moment and resume playback at that position. However, if you try to jump anywhere before 30 minutes, it will revert to the 30-minute mark regardless. This issue doesn't seem to occur when you add the audio file to the Library without replacing an older one.
Although that may seem like the simple solution, some of us like to keep our music organized by different means, date order for example.
[EDIT]
I forgot to mention that in some instances, when you try to jump ahead, iTunes will play the following track and the current track simultaneously, very annoying.

Hello Wes,
I'm using a Mac Pro (4.1) 8-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz, 32 GB RAM and Mac OS-X 10.6.8
My Prelude version is: 1.0.2 (027 (MC:218798))
I've only installed the Production Premium 6 Suite last week, so I only did some testing with the AVCHD (*.MTS) material from a Sony HDR-XR550VE camcorder. Nothing was encoded to another format. It happens with every clip. The footage is stored on a Sonnet Fusion D400QR5 with 6 Terrabyte in RAID 5 mode.
Tomorrow I will test some XDCAM HD footage from a Professional Disc.
Thank you very much in advanced!
Greetings,
Ivan

  • Solution: iTunes "Analyzing Gapless Playback" Bug Fix

    I have seen many complaints of a problem that has become somewhat commonplace in iTunes. I work for a major Technical Support company and get customer complaints about this often. It is frustrating because I generally am good at solving issues. Now I have a solution and I wish to share it with everyone.
    The Problem
    The issue is whenever you open iTunes it begins "Analyzing Gapless Playback" for a certain number of songs. In my case I have discovered that once this issue begins happening...every single song you add to iTunes thereafter will be added to the list of songs that need to be analyzed. I had this issue in Lion and Mountain Lion. But I have heard lots of people have the same issue with previous versions of OS X.
    The Cause (hypothisis)
    My hypothesis is that the problem is that iTunes loses the ability to physically write the ID3 tag information. When you make changes to files the changes are saved in your iTunes library files but nowhere else. Because iTunes detects the ID3 tags untouched when it opens it assumes that they have not yet been checked for gapless playback thus performs the check. The problem lies in permissions. Some change you make (OS Upgrade, Reinstall, etc) cause the permissions in the folder to not allow iTunes to write the ID3 tags. I have tried everything I could think of to fix this and was unable to do so. I tried using MP3 repair programs (MP3 Scan & Repair.app)
    The Solution
    I have tried a lot of different things to fix this and the only thing I figured out is kind of a "catch all" but it works none the less. I want to preface this with saying this is kind of an extreme pain the neck thing to do but it fixed my issue. In my iTunes preferences I have enabled Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized and Copy Files to iTunes Media Folder. This is how I have always kept my iTunes. These instructions are assuming that is also what you are doing.
    Quit iTunes
    Navigate to your Music Folder
    Move all of the highlighted items in the photo below to a new folder on your desktop.
       4. Now launch iTunes. When it opens it will appear like the first time you opened iTunes because (duh) there is no media in it yet.
        5. Go into Preferences (advanced) and make sure your iTunes Media Folder is set correctly.
       6. Make sure that iTunes Match is turned off for now.
       7. Click File>Add to Library and then choose your iTunes Media Folder. You will then wait for a long time (most likely) while your media is rescanned.
    The Fallout
    At this point (if you organize your iTunes with precision like I do) you are going to find your iTunes Library with a little bit of disorganization (depending on how long the issue had been going on). Because iTunes had not been able to write to your ID3 tags many corrections you may have made over the past couple of months (however long the issue had been going on) will not be in effect. For me it wasn't so bad. I had about 200 songs & books that I needed to fix. Audiobooks seem to be more of a problem for me.
    So go through and get your iTunes Library back to the way you like it. Then turn on iTunes Match (if you have it). The reason we had it off was to make sure that your match data didn't get replaced with your iTunes Library mistakes not re-fixed.
    I have restarted my Mac many times and it has been about a day since I did this and everything appears to be working correctly.
    Prevention
    I wish I had something to write in this area but I have no clue how to prevent this from happening again. If I figure out a way I will be sure to edit this article. I am open for suggestions!

    Apple should provide a way to disable Gapless Playback.
    For Albums I guess checking is not so bad, though I prefer GP only to work when asked.
    However, there is a major bug.
    I record my own music which results in a single file with no Tags or references of any kind.
    When I one of these files to "Add to iTunes Library" I get the spinning wheel while iTunes
    tries to figure out if it is Gapless. This usually freezes up iTunes for about 15 minutes.
    Please Apple. Just give us a way to turn off Gapless Playback.
    I have my iTunes library on an external RAID drive, using a MacBook Pro.

  • Workaround for H264 playback bug on Android?

    We have been doing extensive testing on H264 playback in both FLV and MP4 containers on Android AIR 3.2 / 3.3 (beta 3) for ICS. The process is documented here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3164920
    Summarized:
    ==========
    Android AIR 3.2 / 3.3 (beta 3) H264 playback (both in FLV and MP4 container) on Android 4 is severely broken.
    Video object (not StageVideo) with H264 content is:
    1) not playing videos consistently ("NetStream.Play.Stop" is triggered to early) so the movie stops before the end is reached. This also happens on Android 3. Note! The bug is not in AIR 3.1.
    2) not supporting filters (video frame is being scaled). Only Android 4 (ICS).
    3) not supporting seeking when video is paused (video frame is not being updated). Only Android 4 (ICS).
    Is there any known workarounds for these bugs?

    Hi,
    I just wanted to follow up.  It looks from your bug comments like the issues you experienced in AIR 3.2 have been resolved AIR 3.3.
    Are there any outstanding problems that you're seeing with regard to the issues you've described that we need to look into further for AIR 3.3?
    Thanks!

  • 1080p download and playback bugs in iTunes 10.6 for Windows

    There seems to be some bugs in iTunes 10.6 for Windows related to 1080p video.  According to Apple, the minimum specs for viewing 1080p video on a PC is:
    To play 1080p HD video on a PC, you need a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor, 2GB of RAM, and an Intel GMA X4500HD, ATI Radeon HD, or NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS or better graphics processor.
    My PC exceeds these specs (Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz CPU, 8GB of RAM, AMD Radeon 7970 video card, 30" Apple Cinema Display).  The first bug appears when I go into the preferences setting and switch the download preference fom 720p to 1080p, which triggers a warning box that says:
    This computer may not be able to play 1080p videos.  You can still download these videos for use on other devices.
    That's odd but I press "OK" and downloaded the 1080p copy of a TV episode.  When I press play, another warning box popped up:
    Video is too large.  The 1080p version of [show] is too large to play on this computer.  You can choose to play a smaller 720p version of this movie below.  This message will be dismissed in XX seconds.
    The message gives you three options: PLAY SMALLER VERSION / OK / CANCEL.  If I select OK or simply let the timer run down, the 1080p video starts playing without any problems.  Anyone else seeing this?

    Oh that clarifies things, I see what you mean.  The error message still confuses me because even your smaller Acer monitor matches the pixel resolution of the 1080p video - the video doesn't exceed the monitor's pixel ratio so it's not technically "too large" as the error message says.  The 1080p video should fill your Acer monitor edge to edge while leaving black borders on the top and bottom of your Samsung.  I think this is clearly a bug in iTunes.
    I know what you mean about the movie opening up so that a portion of the image is off the screen but that sounds like an issue related to the default position of the window when you start a video.  The default position is such that a smaller size like the SD copy probably isn't cut off but that a larger video does get chopped until you change where videos open by default.  I can change the position simply closing the video while it's playing.  iTunes remembers the place on the screen where I closed the video and opens all videos at the spot afterwards.  Does that not work for you?

  • Mp3 playback bug after update (size greater than 8 MB & Bitrate 192...)

    okay, after the upgrade to the itunes version 7.4 something strange happened. I couldn't play some files any more. After some testing i figured out that the affected files had a pattern - namely:
    size > 8MB &
    Bitrate > 192 &
    No Album Picture
    This isn't a quicktime bug - quicktime can play these songs fine. I think that there is some error with the "pre" loading of the album artwork for files of that kind. I'd classify this as a serious bug because one of my favorite albums (nick cave) is affected from this bug
    regards,
    Georg

    I've solved it.
    The problem is that itunes can't read certain mp3 tag informations after the update (7.4) any more (although mostof these tags were creted with former itunes versions).
    What I did was to remove all mp3 tags in my library with a tool called mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de). Afterwards I let itunes recreate the mp3tags. It looks as if the metadata is stored twice: once in the mp3tag and in the database.
    anyhow. Itunes recreates the correct mp3tag out of its database if the tag was deleted from the file.
    that did the trick -without having to recreate the database.
    PS: Steve should send me a free mp3 player, because it took me 2 days to fix this problem.
    PPS: Use a script like the following to find all dead track before doing as said before:
    [snip]
    /* Rename me to FindDeadTracks.js
    Double Click in Explorer to run
    Script by Otto - http://ottodestruct.com */
    var ITTrackKindFile = 1;
    var iTunesApp = WScript.CreateObject("iTunes.Application");
    var deletedTracks = 0;
    var mainLibrary = iTunesApp.LibraryPlaylist;
    var tracks = mainLibrary.Tracks;
    var numTracks = tracks.Count;
    var i;
    var fso, tf;
    fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
    tf = fso.CreateTextFile("Dead Tracks.txt", true);
    while (numTracks != 0)
    var currTrack = tracks.Item(numTracks);
    // is this a file track?
    if (currTrack.Kind == ITTrackKindFile)
    // yes, does it have an empty location?
    if (currTrack.Location == "")
    // write info about the track to a file
    tf.WriteLine(currTrack.Artist + "," + currTrack.Album + "," + currTrack.Name);
    deletedTracks++;
    numTracks--;
    if (deletedTracks > 0)
    if (deletedTracks == 1)
    WScript.Echo("Found 1 dead track.");
    else
    WScript.Echo("Found " + deletedTracks + " dead tracks.");
    else
    WScript.Echo("No dead tracks were found.");
    tf.Close();
    [snip]

  • Flash Player 11.7 Sound Playback Bug

    We've received reports that sound is cutting off from both video and audio content with some Flash content using Flash Player 11.7.700.169 (and 11.7.700.179).  I apologize to those effected by this bug.  We've been able to reproduce the issue internally and are currently investigating the cause and possible fixes and workarounds.  If you haven't already, please take a minute and let us know how this issue impacts you by leaving a short comment (or vote) on this bug report:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3539635
    Your feedback is important to us and we will continue to update the bug report as new information becomes available.
    For those looking for an immediate fix, you can either update to our latest beta (4/30/2013 - Flash Player 11.7.700.197 Beta) or you can downgrading Flash Player to our latest 10.3 release.  The latest 10.3.183.75 build contains all of the recent security updates and should provide a stable platform for both audio and video.  Please see these two faqs for details.
    How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?
    Where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 10.3 for Windows or Macintosh?
    In addition, Google Chrome users will need to switch to the system version of Flash Player (NPAPI version) after installing the 10.3 release:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/enable-system-flash-player-goog le-chrome.html
    The next official update, currently scheduled for release in mid May, will resolve this bug.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hey Chris, thanks for all the keeping up with us and stuff.  I have an issue and i'm not sure if this was already discussed (if so sorry). Windows 8 IE 10 I'm getting an error tying to downgrade my customers to the beta.  The message i'm getting is
    The installation encountered errors:
    Your Microsoft Explorer browser includes the latest version on the Adobe Flash Player built-in. Windows Update will inform you when new versions of Flash Player are available.
    I have done my research and I cannot find how to fix this issue.  I have ran the uninstaller multiple times and restarted blah blah all the goodies.  It will not let me install the beta.
    Please help..... any idea how to get beta running on hundreds of my customers machines?
    The beta work's great it seems like and I wouldn't mind installing the beta on all their machines till the final release (which seems like a few weeks away)
    Thanks again, Tim

  • Youtube playback bug: the video dosen't buffer at the start

    Hello, I'm having this weird problem for youtube videos which I've just encountered few days ago.
    Basically, on normal occasions when you click the video you'll enter the page and video should immediately start playing as it buffers.
    However, for some odd reason when I click the video it dosen't buffer and nothing happens as the video screen is black. I've tried seeking via seek bar however it won't buffer no matter what. After around 10 seconds the videos starts playing and it buffers normally.
    Note that it dosen't happen for ALL of the videos. It happens for some videos and I can't really give you examples because once I experienced the bug and tried playing it again, the bug is gone.
    I have not made any major changes recently so I can't really pinpoint the cause of this problem. It just happened out of nowhere without any warnings.
    FYI:
    - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    - Main browser: Firefox 21.0 (latest Ver.)
         > I've tried using other browsers such as IE and Chrome but the problem is still there
    - Flash player: 11.7.700.224 (latest Ver.)
         > I've also tried downgrading to older version but the issue still persists
    - GPU driver: I currently use Radeon and my driver is up to date (latest version)
    - Internet speed: no problems so far
         > I really doubt speed is the issue here as the video dosen't even buffer at all
    Overall, it isn't a big issue since the video starts playing normally after few seconds but it's kind of annoying as I need to wait 10 seconds to watch the video

    Hello Rajeev,
    I tested both on my computer (using the preview HTML5 output) and on a server.  I have currently got both a version with a skin and one without on the server.  In IE the video freezes on the first frame, in Firefox it shows a loading symbol - when viewing the video with a skin.  Without a skin they both work fine.
    I have built it on Windows 7 using Captivate version 7.0.1.237 if that makes a difference.
    I have just tested on Safari (which I didn't do before) on the Mac it doesn't work (it freezes the same way as IE) however, on the iPad it does work.
    So, maybe that's the solution - it doesn't work on desktops but it will work on iPad.  It would be better if it worked on HTML5 as such, but iPad is most important so maybe that's fine.  I always test on the machine I build on first and then other devices once it works there - I never thought to test what seemed to be broken on the iPad.
    Did you just test on the device, or did it work on your computer when you tried it?
    Thanks

  • Sound playback bug since 1.0.2

    Thought this was an isolated glitch but now it's affecting other phone functions including voicemail. I noticed it when I was playing an podcast episode then selected another podcast, which began to play except now the sound is sped up to where a normal voice sounds like a chipmunk! Happened again when trying to playback other podcasts and stopped after a while. Today I played back an item from my visual voicemail list and all the messages were sped up also!

    The audiobook playback speed setting does not affect podcasts, nor does it affect Visual Voicemail playback.
    The original poster should try resetting his iPhone by holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons. If this does not fix the issue, he may want to consider doing a restore in iTunes or contacting Apple technical support (either at the Apple store or at 1-800-MY-iPHONE).

  • 1080p wmv playback bug (possible?)

    hi I think there is a bug when playing 1080p wmv on the playbook . it plays great if you keep touching the screen aka keep the seek bar visible otherwise it is kind of laggy (well still better than playing on my ipad xD) i dunno, maybe it is not a bug. just want to let you guys know something i notice when playing video. thanks

    Are you streaming from a website or over a network?
    I have several 1080p videos and have no lag while it resides on my Playbook.

  • Podcast Playback bug...

    I'm using black iPhone 4s 32 gig.  When I'm listening to a podcast, I typcially will listen at 2x speed.  (I'm wearing the apple earbuds.)  Everything is great until a phone call comes in.  The audio fades down and then I hear the ringer.  I take the call.  When I hang up, the podcast starts up again - but this time at 1X speed.  When I go to the "Now Playing" screen, I see that the 2X speed indicator is still on.  I have to tap through to 1/2, then 1, then back to 2x to get the audio to speed back up.  Seems like a bug in the software.  This is my first iPhone, so I can't say if this is a 4S issue or and IOS5 issue.  Maybe others can try it out and see if the same thing hapens to you.
    Thanks for your help,
    Greg

    I am not familiar with that but here's a link to the support pages, if no users respond here.

  • V7 Major Playback Bug - Garbled Sound

    Just upgraded to iTunes V7. Now I cannot play anything from within iTunes. When playing a song, it is just garbled. You can hear the song enough to tell what it is. But it is severly distorted. More of a "repeating warbling" type sound. Like a scratched record that is playing the same section over a few times before moving on. Also, when I double click a song to play, it takes 12-15 seconds before any sound at all comes out.
    In my other players, like Windows media, songs play just fine. All other audio seems OK. Just now cannot play anything in iTunes V7.
    I have had iTunes since at least version 4 or 5, and upgraded everytime a new version came out. Each time with no issues until now.
    Using Windows XP, SP2
    2 Gig RAM
    2 Terabytes Data storage
    AMD 4800 Dual processor
    Sound Card - Creative Emu 1212
    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

    Hey,
    I think this article will help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
    Ive also seen similar issues when the Windows sound playback device is set to an application. The article above shows you howto get to Sounds and Audio Devices, you can change the sound playback device from the audio tab.

  • Movie Playback Bug?

    I play back video through an external firewire box,
    the Canopus ADVC-100. In Logic 8, there is a small
    movie display window in the upper left-hand corner
    of the Arrange page. If you click on the carrot and
    open that window, it shows a very small version of
    the video, and your firewire output goes away. If
    you close the small window, the firewire output
    does not return, and you have to reopen the movie.
    Anyone else experience this?

    Is there anyway to have the signal being sent via firewire and to view the movie in a window on the main monitor? At the moment it looks like its one or the other but in my setup, the firewire/dv footage is being sent to a vocal booth so its not viewable in the studio whilst recording...
    Is there way around this at all?

  • LR 1.3.1 Slideshow Playback problem - real world example of how software bugs affect your business

    MacBook Pro 17" latest brand new laptop
    Apple 10.4.11
    LR latest 1.3.1
    This post is about a playback bug in the slideshow module introduced in LR 1.3.1 and how it publicly affected my business reputation last night.
    I shoot high end weddings here in Los Angeles. I charge my clients a lot of money and deliver a fabulous bespoke photography service with custom designed albums that come in at several grand each as well as the cost of the shoot itself.
    Nearly all my work comes from referrals and part of my selling point is my personal style, which is all about a super professional approach, no excuses, get the job done, done right, and exceed all expectations for my clients. So no technical problems are allowed ever. I carry triplicate cameras, drives, laptops, lights etc. Everything is checked and double checked.
    Lightroom has changed the way we do things in my business and has shaved many hours per week off our editor's work load. It has been awesome for us.
    I am a big fan and think that LR will be seen in history as a critical moment when digital photography came of age. Just wanted to say this before I get into this next bit.
    But Adobe - listen up...really listen up...we just updated LR to 1.3.1 from 1.3
    Last night your application embarrassed and humiliated me in front of many hundreds of people.
    I usually do a projected slide show during the wedding reception using camera jpgs from the earlier part of the day. These very popular with the guests and are good for our business. Last night my partner pulled a fabulous show together and with much fanfare we projected as usual onto a huge white wall with hundreds of people watching.
    Just like we have been doing since LR 1.0 - we select 50 or so images, make a collection, tailor the settings so the images look fabulous when projected, go to the slide show module and hit play. It has always worked incredibly well, very clean, easy and painless. Wonderful.
    But last night the show played only the first few slides before it went back to the beginning. We quickly rebooted, first turning off the projector, and redid the same step. This time it played a little further and randomly started playing back. So we took it all off line again and rebooted it all.
    SAME SH*T again.
    The bride's parents (my clients in this case) came over and were very condescending to me about our "broken and unreliable equipment". We had a huge hall of guests watching this. I could have crawled under a table.
    We now exported the images as JPGS (off line with no projector of course) and then ran the slide show from these using the Apple Preview application. But this took us another 20 mins.
    But by now we had lost the moment, the wedding planner had moved on to other things. We lost the opportunity to be slick, professional and impress the venue, the other vendors, the 3 other bridesmaids who are looking for wedding photographers etc etc. And I had publicly messed up for my client on the most important day of his daughter's life.
    This slidehow problem is a stupid and repeatable bug and Adobe you have no excuse for releasing substandard product like this to professional users like me.
    You should be ashamed of yourselves.
    Will Henshall

    Many thanks to those above who spent the time to reply to my post/rant...
    Ironically, these particular clients are actually typical model customers for us, and we have a fabulous relationship with them. They were understanding about the software problem and they then loved our work when they saw it. So all good there in the end. The comments made were somewhat jokey and not intended as malicious. But many a true word is spoken in jest...
    However, my point is that the quality, level of service my company provides in this competitive market is at a level where there can be no room for amateur like error. Especially with something as simple as getting a slide show to work. Like a swan serenely gliding down a river, covering a big budget event has to look effortless from above even though underneath that swan is paddling like hell!!!!
    Lightroom is all about workflow, that's what it is amazing at and the simplicity of pulling the camera jpgs out from the Canon 1dn bodies 2nd card and importing them into this single application, running our custom presets on them and then simply hitting the slideshow button has been a joy to behold. No need to export, no need for another application, just really simple and quick. Adobe really got the principle of this right.
    As a photographer, I truly don't want me or my partners to be hunched over a laptop fiddling with imperfect software at a job when what will further my career and feed my family is me going back out to the event, shooting more killer images and networking networking networking for future gigs. Client relations, thats the name of the game here.
    So here's the rest of my rant/point:
    If you think about professional software like any other kind of professional product made by the leading public company in its market - compare it to say my Ford truck. I bought my truck new, it is reliable and every time I start it to go to work, it gets me there. It has never broken down in 100,000 miles. Even when I take it in for a service, the parking brake still works in exactly the same way that it did before I took it in - ie as advertised. I do not need to test whether my truck works ok when it comes back from a service, and this is a reasonable assumption I think. I can park it on a hill with no worries.
    So what is different with software? Why are we, the end users expected to put up with below standard shoddy tools, especially when provided by huge multi-million dollar companies like Adobe?
    When the software is "serviced" ie updated, my expectation is that it will be made BETTER, or at least the key user features should still work as advertised. The first thing I *don't* think is, uh-huh, this a new release, hope the parking brake still works. I am making a living as a photographer, not a software tester.
    There is a culture of software users expecting that there will be bugs. And this is not acceptable to me. Not at all. Software is just a product that does specific things just like any other my truck, my cameras, my lights etc.
    I am sick sick sick of using professional grade software that some production manager has signed off on, knowing or not caring that there are significant bugs that will hit a key number of users.
    And yes perhaps I should mention I also have a previous career in software development and yes I truly understand what is involved in releasing innovative products like this.
    Don said above It is an iron law of software development--especially with innovative new applications in their early development. Lightroom fits that pattern to a tee. Buyer beware!
    This absolutely is not an iron law. If you have ever used most Avid or Digidesign products you will know that as long as the machine specific conditions have been adhered to, then the product will indeed work as advertised. Its about quality control and someone in the developing company driving the development production with integrity and care.
    Rock solid software development is generally about cost to trim the budget you can either cut time to market or trim the feature set or allow a higher acceptable failure rate (ie how many bugs are in the code) and Lightroom is one of the most important apps to appear since Photoshop itself.
    Someone somewhere at Adobe needs a kick in the pants to get the quality of this up to where it needs to be. Get more testers on it, fire the qa manger, do whatever you have to do, but remember your radical and awesome application is now right on the bottom line mission critical workflow for many of us. And that is how you are positioning it when you sold it to us in the first place.
    As I hope you can tell when reading this, I am indeed a fan of LR. A big one. I have converted dozens of my colleagues to use LR. It rocks for most things, even with its weird flawed odd orange color cast for some skin tones under some lighting conditions. It does stuff that no other app does.
    I was just very very disappointed with this slide show bug.
    Please Adobe LR folk, focus on this and get it fixed asap, and then keep an eye on the quality of your future releases. The use case for the slide show messing up on my particular machine running a super low number of images from small size jpgs on a recent Mac OS must have been very much on the left of your Gant chart...

  • Video playback issues in Air for Android

    Hello everybody
    I am developing an advertisement application which plays multiple videos. I have faced a very strange problem: nor the simple Video nor the StageVideo are not visible when I run the app on target android device. I can hear the audio but the only way to get the video is to press back button and then get back to app but in this case the video goes over the UI. This happens only on a target device which is a chinese sibo android tablet. It has android 4.1 on board. I have seen a lot of people had the similar issues:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5429125
    but the solution mentioned there - adding <containsVideo>true</containsVideo> to the manifest xml doesnt help
    I am using adobe air 4.0 sdk and the air 4.0 runtime on the device.  I have tried to change renderMode to CPU/Direct/Auto but it doesn change anything.
    The other three android devices I have - toshiba thrive tablet(4.0.4)/ eken tablet(4.2.2)/ htc desire c(4.0.3) play all the video content without any problem.
    Any advice will be highly appreciated,
    Max

  • ITunes video playback quality is not that smooth

    Hello:
    Two questions--
    1. Why do the music videos I purchase on iTunes (and then play on iTunes) freeze up for a few seconds after I push play, but then otherwise playback is OK?
    2. Why does the "spinning beachball" appear almost everytime I press play for a video?
    Comment--
    Given that my Mac more than meets the minimum system requirements for video playback, I think the videos should play smoothly from start to finish, especially at $1.99 a piece. I suspect that the playback bugs listed above are the result of iTunes not being that good/powerful of a video player. Hopefully, these issues will be resolved upon future iTunes software updates. In the meantime, I will not purchase anymore videos.
    Thanks.

    Just updated iTunes to most recent version. Now I'm getting jerky video playback in BOTH iTunes and QT Pro (latest version). CPU use is very high but random; ditto with video playback (i.e., doesn't hang up on the same scene/time).
    I had this issue a little over a year ago after updating iTunes to the then latest version. Got nowhere with Apple's "Service" texts. I played around with configs for a while and also re-installed iTunes. It has worked fine until yesterday (same symptoms as last time). As for the past "fix": nothing I can hang a hat on. Methinks Apple updated the version I re-installed with (tho' the version # was unchanged).
