Playback dropping Please Help..

When I play thru my firewire my tv goes back for a sec and then comes back. Its like it loses the signal for a sec. Also it does it between edits also.... Please help. I'm so lost..

How's the TV connected.
When does it happen - is there some pattern to it?

you can download the latest iTunes (as of this writing) directly from Apple’s servers here. If you’re already running 10.6.8, then there’s no need to redownload the Combo update; iTunes is an independent download.

I have been reading this forum and I am trying to figure out if this info may help me but I want to give my specific details if that is ok and hopefully someone can help me here.
I am sorry if I am repeating the same questions as others here, but I am so at a loss right now that I need to be specific to even understand myself!
Ok here is my current process. I edit my projects (3 montages, 2 are 4 minutes, 1 is about 30 minutes) in imovie09. I then go to share, media browser, large. It does its thing. I go to I DVD place the videos in the menu and burn to verbatim dvd-r using 8X speed and leaving the rest of the settings default to IDVD 09 default settings. I burnt Two copies of the exact same project, one right after the other. Both DVD’s play fine on various DVD players in my home, including a DVD capable blu-ray player. I delivered to my client, who can play one montage half way and then it freezes up. The other dvd plays all projects except freezes up in the middle of the 30 min montage.
Is there any settings I can change, or any part of the above process I can change working with the programs I have to ensure that these DVD’s playback properly on all DVD players they are put into? The DVD also does not play at all or start up at all on her PC.
If I export the movies to quick time instead of to the “media browser, what is the best possible settings for doing this and is it a better option then the media browser sharing process?
I am not opposed to purchasing Roxio if it will ensure a better outcome, but in this case I am assuming I need to export the project to quicktime, which again poses my same above question.
I know these are very rookie questions…which is sad because I am fully educated on FCP and broadcasting standard formats, but I cant remember anything from that anymore apparently.
Can someone also explain to me the details of encoding or codecs…in English terms..haha and if I may be able to do change any of anything that has to do with this to make the videos better?

Internet Connection Drops PLEASE HELP!!

Installed Bootcamp in XP Pro, found that the internet connection drops all the time, need to manually unplug the modem and the airport to reconnect. I'm using a wired connection, not wireless.

yes i have done that.
In OS X, the wireless connection works, but the wired connection doesn't. In WIN XP , both don't work even though it says its connected. If i reset the router (Airport Extreme), I can get the wired connection to work for a short while, then it stops working and if there are any other computers plugged into the router, they wouldn't work either. I will have to unplug all the connections and reset the router to make it work again. However, if i don't plug the iMac into the router, and use my other computer (like i am now) then its fine.
so in brief,
- if i use iMac with bootcamp, internet doesn't work
- if i use iMac with or without bootcamp with another computer plugged into router, both won't work
- if iMac is not plugged into router, and use another computer instead, internet works

E2000 connection drops Please help!

I'm having this issue with my E2000 Router where my internet dies and wont restore until I factory reset it, and re-install the Cisco setup software that came on the product CD I notice it also does this when I unplug my router to move it or have a power interruptions.... When this happens of course I have to manually fix all my port configurations for my games! Which is major pain.
I discovered the Backup Configurations option in the Administration tab, which seems to save my port settings but when I load the saved file after one of my many factory resets it basically kills my internet again because it will stop working after I apply the saved settings.
So I guess my question is two parts how to make it stop forcing me to reset it to factory defaults and re-runt he setup software, and when I do have to reset it how to keep my settings
I'm nub when it comes to router settings but I can follow directions and could really use the help! Thanks guys!!

Thanks for the reply Klatch, I should of noted i had previously flashed the firmware to the most updated version which in my case is the: Firmware 09/07/2010 Ver.1.0.03 (build 2). Also I should probably elabirate on the frequency of this issue, it hapens about once every 2 days.
As for bypasing the router and check the stability of the connection. I can tell you this when my router drops the internet i can bypass it and plug straight from modem to pc and it will work with out having to reset my cable modem. But even if my ISP or Modem is droping connection everycouple days that still shouldnt mess up my router forcing a factory reset should it?
I spoke with one of there (not so technical service) people and they believe i am experiencing power outages and that could be causing the issue. I personally think this is not the case because I have had it go down while i have been right in the middle of playing a PC game, and there were no power interuptions.
What else can I try? Any ideas?

Audio Playback Freakout - Please help!!

Final Cut has been working fine, playback was working perfectly. Start working on my project today, and when I hit play in the timeline, the audio would either play, play at mid level, play in mono, or not even play at all. What do I do to fix this, it's affecting every file I edit now, even the footage that worked well in the past.

Your media shoudl be okay as long as the results are different each time you hit play.
First, simply restart FCP.

Restart the Mac.
No? Trash the FCP prefs.

Try relinking one of the problem audio files.

Apple ProRes Timeline playback problem - Please Help

I am capturing 720p 60 video from a Panasonic Varicam using a Blackmagic HD Extreme card and using the Apple ProsRes (HQ) setting (Blackmagic HDTV 720p 59.94). We are editing the film in Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) 24fps. In my timeline all the clips are marked for render preview (green). When I play back sequences, some scenes seem to be stuttering or playing back two duplicate frames. Some scenes play fine. I've rendered the sequences and it corrects the problem with some scenes and causes the problem in others. There seems to be no consistency to what is happening. I would deeply appreciate any input on this problem.

The clips and the sequence don't match. We are capturing 60fps from the Varicam, but need to edit in 24fps for a film release. I don't mind rendering the sequences, but it sometimes fixes the problem and sometimes causes the problem. Thanks for the thought though.

Problem with playback Device please help

When im talking to someone on skype i cant listen to anything else but the skype call. If im listening to music or watching a video and i try to call somebody it says problem with payback device and won't let me call or answer a call. What do i do?

I'm also having this problem, but with a fun side effect; if a program is running outside of the windows "desktop" app (so, for example, if the Skype app is making 'message recieved' noises) they'll still play. I have Windows 8, and I've seen some solutions about resetting the audio endpoint builder, but I don't know how to do that on Windows 8 and I can't find anything that'll tell me.

Burned disc, but video playback pulses. please help?

So i just burned a project from DVDSP.
Shot in 24f on the Canon A1, then exported to compressor using the
HD DVD: H.264 for DVD Studio Pro 60 minutes preset.
I setup the whole DVDSP system to do this, burned the project onto CD and everything went successful.
Then when i went to play it back on my comp, the video is laggy or pulses.
Its like its skipping frames or something.
What am i doing wrong?
I tested it on all my mac computers and all the same result.
iMac G5, Macbook, and Mac Pro with major upgrades.

Without knowing all the settings you used both in sequence presets in the FCP timeline and how you set things in Compressor it would be difficult to really troubleshoot but, it sounds as if you have a frame-rate mismatch somewhere.
Canon's 24F feature is where it's trying to simulate a progressive look, just as the Sony Z1/FX1 do with Cineframe. It's always been a tricky thing to get the final output from these cameras trying to simulate the progressive look in post.
The only suggestion I can make is to go back to the settings in Compressor and look at the actual frame-rate that was selected. If frame controls were set to automatic you may need to change that to "on" and experiment with various frame-rate outputs to see what looks best.

Playback loop dropping out before end of song!! Please help!!

Just started using mainstage 2 (latest version). I'm trying to set up some playback to perform live with, but for some strange reason, some of the playback stems always drop out before the end of the song. (usually 2 t 4 bars before ending.) It happens every time.. and on every songs...
Could someone please help.. I really can't figure this one out!

I'm using an Axiom pro 61 as controller
My system is a 13in MacBook Pro 2010 model with OS 10.6.6

In fact, you can add markers directly in Mainstage - open up the playback plug-in, put your cursor exactly on the point of the waveform where you want your marker and control-click to open the pop-up menu from which you can add, rename and remove markers. Click/drag on the waveform to move to the required location.
To sync, just set the tempo of each song at the set or patch level (others have noted problems getting everything to sync properly, so to avoid this problem I usually just create an audio file of my click track and load it up into a separate playback channel - this also makes it easier to route it separately to your FOH output).
As for tempo change, well, I'm afraid MS2 doesn't support tempo change as such, although if you vary the tempo of you backings in PT and bounce down a stem, then that is just an audio file, and when MS2 plays it back it will play as recorded (ie with tempo changes). This is another good reason for using an audio file of a click track.

CS3 - Video freezes on Capture and Playback - Please Help!

Hello all,
Here's the problem:
When Capturing footage via firewire from Mini DV, shot in standard DV, within a standard NTSC-DV Widescreen 48k Project, the picture freezes after 1 second. The audio can still be heard and the footage actually does get captured. However, after the footage has been conformed, and we load the clip into the Source Window and hit play, the video again freezes after 1 second of play. Again, the audio keeps playing and you can move the marker anywhere on the clip and see that all the footage is indeed there, but as soon as you go to play it from any point - same thing, the picture freezes after 1 second of play, making editing impossible. The clip is being captured as an .avi and all capture settings appear to be correct.
Here's the kicker:
- HDV video captures and plays back fine.
- The DV video captured correctly at first, this has been a recent problem going on now for several weeks, after no changes to the system.
- The biggest kicker - after trying successfully to capture, playback and edit HDV video, we closed Premiere, reopened, tried to play the previously captured DV footage and it played just fine suddenly!!! Then we closed the program, re-opened and tried again - back to the freezing problem and it never played back fine again...
Here's the specs (I can give more specifics later if needed, it's my partner's computer):
Sony PD-150 DV-Cam (but recording on Mini DV in standard DV mode, not DV-Cam)
Windows 7
Intel Core i7 3.20 ghz
Asus X58 Motherboard with onboard Audio and Firewire
6 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 9 Series with PhysX
Please help if you have any idea how to solve a crazy problem like this. Thank you!!!

1. Reinstalling the Windows 7 (32bit).
2. Install Flash Builder 4.5.
3. Flash Builder 4.5.1 updater and Flash Builder 4.6 does not install.
   (Instead of using Flex SDK 4.6 is set up)
In addition, Windows7 64bit environment does not work drag and drop.
Is there another solution?

I'll copy & paste that conversation here, rather than waste a lot of time writing up something from scratch, especially since I've already wasted an INCREDIBLE amount of time on this problem, and I'm about ready to go berserk...
Hello. I've been using Session Manager for a long time, but lately, it's been causing a problem that's been driving me out of my skull, and I think I've finally pinned it down to SM. lately, when I've tried to load sessions, even with a small number of tabs, it's caused my internet connection to drop, or, at least, to slow down to the point where pages try to load, but finally come back with a message that the connection timed out, or the page had took too long to respond. I have my Windows Vista Home Premium computer running Firefox 11 connected via Ethernet to a wifi router that is connected to a cable modem. I tried disabling pre-fetching, resetting my router to factory settings, I tried a different router, I tried removing the router and connecting directly to the cable modem, i tried a different modem, I tried disabling the Symantec extension, I tried clearing windows' DNS cache, I tried disabling Firefox's DNS cache, I tried disabling Symantec's Firefox extension (I have Norton anti-virus), and I tried disabling my anti-virus & firewall programs (hmmm, did I leave anything out?), but none of that solved the problem. I haven't noticed this behavior with any other program, and Firefox goes along swimmingly otherwise. The reason why I think I've finally pinpointed it as SM is that trying to load a certain 9-tab session caused this problem multiple times, but I eventually got it all loaded correctly, and then I tried restarting it, and Firefox's own built-in feature of loading the tabs and windows if it closed properly the last time worked just fine, and it loaded quite quickly.
So, why might this be happening, and what can I do about it? Do you think it might be a matter of the SM data being corrupted/ If so, how do I get rid of it? I found the Session Manager Export Tool extension and exported my sessions and then tried uninstalling and re-installing SM, but it hadn't gotten rid of the old SM data. Please help, as I consider SM to be a vital part of my Firefox and have come to rely on it, plus I'd like to be able to use my old saved sessions again. Please help ASAP, too, as I've already wasted an unbelievable amount of time on this and I am extremely frustrated and aggravated. Thank you.

"Session Managwr cannot cause your Internet connection to drop, it simply doesn't have the ability to do that. All it can do is cause Firefox to restore tabs that have been saved. It can cause lots of web pages to load, which could slow down Firefox or possibly your Internet connection (if you have a really slow connection), but it can't drop your Internet connection. The only exception to that that I can think of is if your modem has a web page with a reboot button and you press that, then save the session such that restoring the session causes the reboot button to press, but that is extremely unlikely.
By default Firefox loads tabs one at a time anyway so it's unlikely to slow things down when loading sessions. If Firefox can restore sessions properly, the Session Manager should be able to do so as well, since Session Manager uses Firefox's restore capabilities.
I'd recommend disabling plugins in Firefox and/or other addons and see if that helps. If you can figure out what changed recently that would help narrow things down.
As for Session Manager data. It doesn't store anything other than the sessions. You can delete those if you wish."

Well, I have a cable internet connection, so I don't think speed is the problem there.
Are you sure about Firefox loading only one tab at a time? I know when I load a session, it seems to show several tabs loading at the same time, and I can't remember it ever not being that way.
Frankly, though, I need more specific, targeted help than being told to just start randomly disabling extensions. I've ALREADY wasted an INCREDIBLE amount of time on this and am ALREADY EXTREMELY frustrated and aggravated, and to just go blindly shooting around in the dark at random is only going to throw craploads more wasted time and aggravation onto the already huge pile. I'm at my wit's end here. I can't take much more of this. I need REAL help. I need more specific, targeted advice about what sorts of things I should be looking for, what sorts of things I should be trying, etc. I don't have any patience left to just start flailing around randomly and likely getting nowhere fast.

Accidental damage is not covered under Apple warranty. And it seems there is much accidental damage. Only a Genius Bar tech looking at it can tell how much it will cost to repair.
Cost to repair will be high, I suspect (though Genius Bar will confirm/deny.
There is no gentle way to say this sir/ma'am ... someone will need to pay for your friend's MBA repairs.
