Playing large video files in the flash player

Hi,
At the moment I'm trying to play large video files (1GB+) in the JW Player, but after a certain amount of time, around 67 to 70 minutes, the video just stops playing. Does the Flash Player have a limit on the size of video files?

I'd need to debug it to figure out what's going on.
The best way to get traction on this is to file a bug.  If you can provide a link that demonstrates the problem, that would be ideal.

Post the bug number here, and I'll forward it over to the video team.
Thanks!

  • Play two video files at the same time.

    I am trying to play two video files at the same time. I create two threads, each of which has its own frame, playing button, and builds its own graph to play the file. Now everything seems works except that when the first file is being played and I hit PLAY
    to play the second file, the program plays the second file but the first one is paused; furthermore the control button has no response for the first one. Did I miss anything? Can anyone help me figure out the problem?
    Best,
    Fayin

    You don't need separate threads for 2+ playback pipelines because the filters create worker threads internally and don't block execution on calling thread.
    If you decide to keep separate threads, you will have to follow Michel's advice and have message pumps on those threads.
    You can also have both files in the same graph, in which case you have perfect sync between them (both start playing together in sync), however you cannot pause/stop/run files separately.
    The problem you described is most likely not a DirectShow problem and is rather about generic threading, COM or window messaging.

    If the files are already there, they'll never be overwritten when you visit a
    new site, would they ? That's how the cache works :-)

  • I can't see the video when using the flash player

    Hello everyone, I am having difficulty trying to fix the video of my adobe flash player.  The audio works well on the flash player but the screen is black for the video.  I have read the helpful tips on the adobe website and I have already: downloaded the most recent flash player, managed the add-ons, unchecked activeX filtering, deleted the flash player browsing data, and removed the flash player cache.  I am at a loss for what to do next.  Youtube works fine, but when I go to cbs.com to watch full episodes I can't see anything.  It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help.  Thank you, Aaron Weinstein

    I went and look up that information and then I went to the AMD website do download the graphic drivers and software and it said that it couldn't so I should contact HP.  I then went to the HP website, put in the information of my computer and looked to see what graphic drivers I could update.  Unfortunately I have the same graphic driver that they are saying is the only update for my computer.  I appreciate the suggestion but it didn't work.  Thanks, Aaron

  • How can you convert a large video file from the photo cache  of an iphone3g to a playable file on a pc?

    how does one transfer a large ( 1gb) video file from an iphone3g photo cache to a pc in a playable format?

    The same way you would import any photo/video from a digital camera. Connect the iPhone to the computer and import the file. Then it can be played with Quicktime or any software that supports that file format.

    No it can't, you need SWF to load the file within.

    Hi!
    Flash videos (ie .FLV files) are supported by your phone. It comes with adobe flash lite 3.0 which is based on Adobe Flash 8. Btw, are you playing the video from a the web such as youtube or you have the file stored to your phone?
    Hope this will help.

  • Playing a video file retrieved from database using JMF

    Hello!
    I am developing a multimedia application that has to store videos, music, pictures in a database. I did a little searching and found that JMF is a very good solution in playing video/music using Java. I found some examples to play the video/music stored on the hard drive (as separate files), but i have to be able to take the video/music from the database, and feed it to the JMF player. Has anyone some suggestions about how this could be done?
    Thanks in advance!
    Edited by: radu.miron on May 8, 2008 9:03 AM

    Well, i think i didn't make myself clear enough :). i know how to retreive the data from the database. The thing is this: let's suppose i have a 700 MB movie stored in the database. One option to play that movie would be to retrieve it from the DB, create a file somewhere on the disk, and put the data retrieved from the database in that file. But this involves that the disk will be overflooded when let's say 100 people watch 100 different movies. Another option (as i see it) would be to gradually take parts of the movie from the database (first 50 MB, then another 50 MB, then another and so on), and feed it to the JMF player. The user will watch the movie, but will not have the whole movie available, just a part of it. As he watches it, the application takes the next chunck of movie data and feeds it to the JMF player. That was the question i intended to ask, if anyone has any idea regarding the second option, and not the part with retrieving from the database, but the part with giving the JMF player video data to play.
    The example i found on the web with JMF player is the following:
    import javax.swing.*;*
    *import javax.media.*;
    import java.awt.*;*
    *import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.net.*;*
    *import java.io.*;

         Player player;
         Component center;
         Component south;
         public PlayVideo() {
              setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
              JButton button = new JButton("Select File");
              ActionListener listener =
                   new ActionListener() {
                   public void actionPerformed(
                             ActionEvent event) {

                             new JFileChooser(".");
                        int status =
                             chooser.showOpenDialog(PlayVideo.this);
                        if (status ==
                             JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION) {
                             File file = chooser.getSelectedFile();

              ControllerListener listener =

                   public void realizeComplete(
                             RealizeCompleteEvent event) {
                        Component vc =
                             player.getVisualComponent();
                        if (vc != null) {
                             contentPane.add(vc,
                                       BorderLayout.CENTER);
                             center = vc;
                        } else {
                             if (center != null) {
                                  contentPane.remove(center);
                                  contentPane.validate();
                        Component cpc =
                             player.getControlPanelComponent();
                        if (cpc != null) {
                             contentPane.add(cpc,
                                       BorderLayout.SOUTH);
                             south = cpc;
                        } else {
                             if (south != null) {

                                  contentPane.validate();
                        pack();
                        setTitle(file.getName());
              player.addControllerListener(listener);
              player.start();
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              PlayVideo pv = new PlayVideo();
    }but this example plays a video stored on the disk ( player = Manager.createPlayer(url); ), rather than a chunck of data (the whole movie or parts of it) retrieved from the database.
    Sorry for the misunderstanding!
    Cheers!

  • How to play SCM video file on Mac

    is there any way i can play scm video file to the macbook? please help me out

    Never heard of an scm video-so I googled it.
    It is either a console video game ROM emulator, a superchain video file(which means DRM) or a Starcraft map file.
    Only hint for playing the superchain one was use a windows machine, windows media player with some obscure plugin for .scm playback.
    I'm afraid since this is a very obscure format/codec-you may be out of luck.

  • How to play .avi video files

    I've been searching for a program to download that will play .avi video files. The things I find, I either can't install, or they don't play .avi. I can't install them because I can't figure out how to run .exe applications either, which most of the installation files are (it just says choose application).
    Can someone please tell me of a good update to quicktime or a different video program, and/or tell me how to open .exe files?

    Well you can check out some of the free players like
    VLC:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14738
    or
    Mplayer:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27163
    Both of which will play just about any file format.
    Alternatively you can set up quicktime to play these same files (mpeg4, avi, etc.). You can find out how to do so along with links to the various codecs here:
