Please add USB-C to 3TB My Passport Ultra

Just noticed there's finally a 3TB My Passport Ultra portable drive available (after more than 3 years with 2TB at the top of the capacity range; I realise there was a fake 4TB model consisting of 2 glued together 2TB drives for some time - but not surprisingly that did not fly). However I'm quite surprised that this brand new 3TB drive does not have USB-C (in addition to USB 3.0, ideally). Copying larger amounts of data using USB 3.0 is very time consuming. Whilst many laptops and other devices don't have USB-C as yet, very soon this will be the case with all new kit. So having USB-C on the drive would mean it is future-proof. Since it took 3 years for the 3TB model to become available (the 2TB came out in the first half of 2012), it is likely that this 3TB model will be the top of the range of the next 3 years I assume (WD does not seem to be in a hurry to increase portable drive capacities). So if I buy these drives now, they will have to last the distance. Without USB-C therefore, it does not make sense to buy the 3TB My Passport Ultra (unless you guys promise a 4TB My Passport Ultra within a year or so, but I guess you won't). I have 12x 2TB My Passport Ultras to replace, and probably some more capacity to add soon too. It's just too much of an investment to do that if they come with legacy USB only: I'm not going to replace the drives again just to add USB-C (I might replace them if I can also add capacity at the same time; but not just for the USB port). Other people working in media will be in the same situation.

WD My Passport Ultra is in gibberish

I did not have any issues until recently with my passport ultra. It is a fairly new product which I purchased about two months ago. I noticed when I was trying to bring a file up that all my data in the drive was completely different. I mean COMPLETELY different. I took some screenshots if it helps. It's almost like alien language. I did save previous work on another USB before I inserted the passport ultra drive but I ejected safely. I was wondering if anyone knows if thats the reason why my passport ultra is looking this way because of the previous file transfer. My laptop is really old so I'm not sure if that helps. I just need to know if there's a way for me to bring back the drive to its original state since the capacity for the drive is correct just files are all wrong. Hoping someone helps because I have a lot of precious memories in there!

Yes, I was able to access it previously until after I entered another USB. I tried putting it in different ports and they were all the same. The only computer I've tried putting it on was my sisters macbook but it says the object was not recognized. I will try it on my other computer which is a PC to see anything happens then get back to you.

I can't tell how many or if there are expansion slots inside the case. Is there a reliable source for such an expansion card?

Considering the different options that PC could have been ordered with, it might be there is not an empty slot to mount a PCI add-on card to add a USB 3.0 card. It would be advisable to open the case to see if there is an empty slot. If there is, then THIS is a choice to add USB 3.0

I was using my My Passport Ultra USB on my older computer that crashed (Vista). Now I have a new computer (8.1) and I need to connect it and get all my music files onto my new computer without losing anything. How do I do it?Thanks for any help

Depending on how you put the files on the drive, there are different ways to copy the information to the new system.
If you used the WD Smartware backup software to backup your files, you will need to use the same software to restore the files to the new computer.
If it was with the WD Smartware, please see the page 49 of the user manual for detailed information on how to retrieve your files.

SOME of us do NOT want to send bothersome, huge images over mobile devices just to share a pointless moment with a friend - or an enemy.
Wechat already has this AWESOME feature, so maybe Skype should have one too - as it is so cumbersome to go into another program to resize and save an image before sending it.
Please add a button to have a possibility of sending a low resoluton version of all images and also before downloading an image to check out if it is worth the money and bandwidth.

You can resize some bitmap, or movieClip, etc. to a new size by making a new bitmapData at the desired size and drawing the source into the new bitmapData. When doing the draw use a Matrix to accomplish the scaling. Something like so:
var newBitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(320, 240);
var m:Matrix = new Matrix();
m.scale(newBitmapData.width / originalBitmapData.width, newBitmapData.height / originalBitmapData.height);
newBitmapData.draw(originalBitmapData, m);

These both stink. A forum, especially one as full of information and as frequently cited as this one, really ought to have an easier way to link to specific replies.
Please add a "link" or "share" button (or something similar) that generates a URL that links directly to the post. Perhaps it could go down next to the action links (reply, quote, etc) or over near the vote button.
If one exists, I apologize but I have not been able to find it (and at least one moderator - the one who replied in the example link I just posted - is also unaware of it). This forum has been around long enough that I'm a bit surprised it does not have

Sorry, not possible.
I want to correct myself. There is an old "hack" that still seems to work, which is to create a link to a file, but instead of pointing it to a file you point it to a folder. But Acrobat only lets you select a folder when you create such a link, so how to do it? Create a Word document with such a hyperlink and then use the PDFMaker plugin to convert the file to a PDF. This side-steps the Acrobat limitation and gives you a link to a folder, which when clicked will open it in Windows Explorer.
As I said, it's a bit of a hack and it's possible it will stop working if Adobe ever decides to block it, so use it with care.

Thank you for your recommendation. I understand the challenges of managing large numbers of files on the My Files page. I also understand the need to preserve project files.
Perhaps a compromise would be to create an Archive tab under My Files. Previous versions and retired project files could then be automatically moved into this holding area when a new version is published, thus preserving the files in a separate area that is still accessible to the author.
I will submit this suggestion to our product management team to consider as a future enhancement.

We could use the XML schema to validate the TLF markup that we are generating from our publishing system. We generate XML files which include the TLF markup and a XML schema would be very beneficial to validate that markup to make sure we are doing everything right.
