Hi experts,
i have little idea on performace tuning, please help..is this a correct way? please correct
is this steps correct for tuning (sql)
1. I used to tune the query by explain plan/tkprof/cardinality feed back
In that i check the elapsing time and cardinality and also cost.
2. if the cardinality is not correct, then i gather the statistics of the tables.
So i can get accurate statstics
3. i try to use indexes and partioned tables
4. I try to use anaylytical functions in code if it is applicable. As analytics are good by performance wise
5. I also use GTT when complex queries that process the same subquery multiple times

There is no system in place for that. And i am most certain that there is not going to be a system like that ever.
Performance is not just related to a single SQL Statement. Its something related to the Overall Application Design.
Lot of factors are involved when it comes to performance. Factors like hardware configuration, software configuration, database design etc.
My first step in performance would be "Know what you want". Knowing what is required is a very crucial thing. It may look simple but most of the performance problem starts at this point.
A classic example that i could pick from your steps is this

If you see you are trying to address a problem without knowing what exactly the problem is. You are trying to improve the performance of a query that uses same sub-query multiple times by using GTT. But the question you should ask is why am i using multiple times the same sub-query.
Whenever a query comes to you performance tuning don't try to tune the query. Try to understand the requirement for which the query is being written. Finding this is the hardest part. In most of the legacy system no one knows why something is done that way. They just accept it and move forward.
Once you have a grip on the requirement you can start building the query from scratch. Believe me rewriting a query is much more simpler than fixing an existing query.
Once i have my new query, this is the point where my performance tuning (Technically) begins :)

The aspect ratio should be set to 200x280, or equivalently 5x7.
I don't think it is possible to do the cropping automatically in Lightroom, you'd have to do this image by image to crop the faces correctly. -

Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.

Best practice for migrating data tables- please comment.
I have 5 new tables seeded with data that need to be promoted from a development to a production environment.
Instead of the DBAs just using a tool to migrate the data they are insistent that I save and provide scripts for every single commit, in proper order, necessary to both build the table and insert the data from ground zero.
I am very unaccustomed to this kind of environment and it seems much riskier for me to try and rebuild the objects from scratch when I already have a perfect, tested, ready model.
They also require extensive documentation where every step is recorded in a document and use that for the deployment.
I believe their rationale is they don't want to rely on backups but instead want to rely on a document that specifies each step to recreate.

Nobody cares if if is riskier for you. The production environment is sacred. Any and all risk to it must be reduced to a minimum at all cost. In my opinion a DBA should NEVER move ANYTHING from a development environment directly to a production environment. NEVER.
Development environments are sandboxes. They are often not backed up. You or anyone else could easily modify tables or data with no controls in place. Anything done in a DEV environment is assumed to be incomplete, unsecure, disposable and unvetted.
If you are doing development and don't have scripts to rebuild your objects from scratch then you are doing it wrong. You should ALWAYS have your own backup copies of DDL in case anything happens (and it does) to the development environment. By 'have your own' I mean there should be copies in a version control system or central repository where your teammates can get their hands on them if you are not available.
As for data - I agree with what others have said. Further - ALL data in a dev environment is assumed to be dev data and not production data. In all environments I have worked in ALL production data must be validated and approved by the business. That means every piece of data in lookup tables, fact tables, dimension tables, etc. Only computed data, such as might be in a data warehouse system generated by an ETL process might be exempt; but the process that creates that data is not exempt - that process and ultimately the data - must be signed off on by the business.
And the business generally has no access to, or control of, a development environment. That means using a TEST or QA environment for the business users to test and validate.

Absolutely! That's how professional deployments are performed. Deployment documents are prepared and submitted for sign off by each of the affected groups. Those groups can include security, dba, business user, IT and even legal. The deployment documents always include recovery steps so that is something goes wrong or the deployment can't procede there is a documented procedure of how to restore the system to a valid working state.
The deployments themselves that I participate in have representatives from the each of those groups in the room or on a conference call as each step of the deployment is performed. Your 5 tables may be used by stored procedures, views or other code that has to be deployed as part of the same process. Each step of the deployment has to be performed in the correct order. If something goes wrong the responsible party is responsible for assisting in the retry or recovery of their component.
It is absolutely vital to have a known, secure, repeatable process for deployments. There are no shortcuts. I agree, for a simple 5 new table and small amount of data scenario it may seem like overkill.
But, despite what you say it simply cannot be that easy for one simple reason. Adding 5 tables with data to a production system has no business impact or utility at all unless there is some code, process or application somewhere that accesses those tables and data. Your post didn't mention the part about what changes are being made to actually USE what you are adding. -
How can I sync my iPhone on a different computer without erasing my applications? My iPhone was earlier synced with a PC which I don't use anymore.
On the new computer, I am getting a message that my all purchases would be deleted if I sync it with new iTunes library.

MichaelI have an Asus N56 running Windows 8, it has a quad core i7 3630QM 2.4GHz CPU with 8Gb RAM and a 2Tb hard drive partitioned into two. Graphics are nVidia 650 with full 1920x1080 native resolution
It now has m/soft Office plus Edius and CS5.5 Production Premium installed on it and it runs all programmes just fine.
No it does not have a 7200rpm drive as standard but it does have 4 USB3 ports, HDMI output and I know that on the Asus forums guys have swapped over the optical drive for a second hard drive.
But, it works, it is far better made than Lenovo, the sound quality is also great (it has its own plug in subwoofer).
In the UK this cost me £830 three months ago.
Just to re-iterate, it works for editing straight out of the box, yes for very complex edits it may struggle but for day to day straightforward tasks it works just fine.
After Effects does not seem to struggle with what I have been doing with it so far.
The laptop spec that Harm has given you is very good, but in a laptop you do get what you pay for.
If you have a look at Asus G75 gaming laptops you will find a spec more like Harm has described, the downside, in the UK that these are about £1500

Just for my own privacy i would like to set up a password or pin number on my messgae app is there anything out there that will help me do this please comment if there is a possible solution out there. I know alot may say what you have to hide but ive got nothing to hide i just want one on there so my privacy is not broken by friends and family if they fancy playing on my phone and having a snoop round my phone.

i am having major issues! this does not work i dont understand..does the ipod have to be off while pressing the buttons if so how is it possible if it is connected to the computer either way it turns on..and when i tried these steps while the ipod was on it still doesnt work it just asks me “slide to power off” please someone help me i just cant seem to put my ipod in DFU mode
To get the iPod in recovery mode and DFU mode you first have to turn the iPod off.
Just what is the problem you are tying to resolve?
Sometimes you have to let the battery fully drain if you can't turn the iPod off. After charging for at least hour try again. -
my iphone 4 has this same issue, did these steps but when it was doing the software update, half way through my phone still wouldn't move pass the apple logo. help!

The BAdI definition can be viewed in SE18 transaction(for standard ones) and user-defined BAdIs can be created in the same transaction as well.
When you create a BAdI definition, an class interface will be automatically created and you can define your methods in the interface. The implementation of the methods can be done in SE19 transaction .

suppose your working for XK01 then for that the BADI being VENDOR_ADD_DATA then this implemetation procedure.
Steps:
1. Execute Business Add-In(BADI) transaction SE18
2. Enter BADI name i.e. VENDOR_ADD_DATAand press the display
button
3. Select menu option Implementation->Create
4. Give implementation a name such as Z_VENDOR_ADD_DATA
5. You can now make any changes you require to the BADI within this
implementation, for example choose the Interface tab
6. Double click on the method you want to change, you can now enter
any code you require.
7. Please note to find out what import and export parameters a
method has got return the original BADI definition
(i.e. VENDOR_ADD_DATA) and double click on the method name

Follow the below steps to find out what all BADI's are called when you press any button in any transaction.
1) Goto se24 (Display class cl_exithandler)
2) Double click on the method GET_INSTANCE.
3) Put a break point at Line no.25 (CASE sy-subrc).
Now
4) Execute SAP standard transaction
5) Press the required button for which you need to write an exit logic, the execution will stop at the break point.
6) Check the values of variable 'exit_name', it will give you the BADI name called at that time.
7) This way you will find all the BADIs called on click of any button in any transaction.
Business Add-Ins
Business Add-Ins are a new SAP enhancement technique based on ABAP Objects. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software.
As with customer exits (SMOD/CMOD [Page 40]), two different views are available:
In the definition view, an application programmer predefines exit points in a source that allow specific industry sectors, partners, and customers to attach additional software to standard SAP source code without having to modify the original object.
In the implementation view, the users of Business Add-Ins can customize the logic they need or use a standard logic if one is available.
In contrast to customer exits, Business Add-Ins no longer assume a two-system infrastructure (SAP and customers), but instead allow for multiple levels of software development (by SAP, partners, and customers, and as country versions, industry solutions, and the like). Definitions and implementations of Business Add-Ins can be created at each level within such a system infrastructure.
SAP guarantees the upward compatibility of all Business Add-In interfaces. Release upgrades do not affect enhancement calls from within the standard software nor do they affect the validity of call interfaces. You do not have to register Business Add-Ins in SSCR.
The Business Add-In enhancement technique differentiates between enhancements that can only be implemented once and enhancements that can be used actively by any number of customers at the same time.
In addition, Business Add-Ins can be defined according to filter values. This allows you to control add-in implementation and make it dependent on specific criteria (on a specific Country value, for example). 7) Dbl clk on interface name to start class builder . specify a method name (name,
level, desc).

1>First go to any transaction->iN THE menu bar SYSTEM->STATUS->Get the program name ->double click->u will go to the program attached to the tcode.Now search term will be CALL CL_EXITHANDLER.Now u will get list of BADI'S available..
2>Goto SE24->Give class name as CL_EXITHANDLER->Display->double click on get_instance mathod->Now u will go inside the method->Now put break point on the cl_exithandler.Now go to any transaction code and pass dat..U will see that it will be stopped on the break point which u set on the cl_exithandler...In the exit name u can find list of badi's attached to the tcode..
There are multiple ways of searching for BADI.
Finding BADI Using CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE
Finding BADI Using SQL Trace (TCODE-ST05).
Finding BADI Using Repository Information System (TCODE- SE84).
1. Go to the Transaction, for which we want to find the BADI, take the example of Transaction VD02. Click on System->Status. Double click on the program name. Once inside the program search for CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE.
Make sure the radio button In main program is checked. A list of all the programs with call to the BADIs will be listed.
The export parameter EXIT_NAME for the method GET_INSTANCE of class CL_EXITHANDLER will have the user exit assigned to it. The changing parameter INSTANCE will have the interface assigned to it. Double click on the method to enter the source code.Definition of Instance would give you the Interface name.
2. Start transaction ST05 (Performance Analysis).
Set flag field "Buffer trace"
Remark: We need to trace also the buffer calls, because BADI database tables are buffered. (Especially view V_EXT_IMP and V_EXT_ACT)
Push the button "Activate Trace". Start transaction VA02 in a new GUI session. Go back to the Performance trace session.
Push the button "Deactivate Trace".
Push the button "Display Trace".
The popup screen "Set Restrictions for Displaying Trace" appears.
Now, filter the trace on Objects:
V_EXT_IMP
V_EXT_ACT
Push button "Multiple selections" button behind field Objects
Fill: V_EXT_IMP and V_EXT_ACT
All the interface class names of view V_EXT_IMP start with IF_EX_. This is the standard SAP prefix for BADI class interfaces. The BADI name is after the IF_EX_.
So the BADI name of IF_EX_CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA is CUSTOMER_ADD_DATA
3. Go to Maintain Transaction (TCODE- SE93).
Enter the Transaction VD02 for which you want to find BADI.
Click on the Display push buttons.
Get the Package Name. (Package VS in this case)
Go to TCode: SE84->Enhancements->Business Add-inns->Definition
Enter the Package Name and Execute.
Here you get a list of all the Enhancement BADIs for the given package MB.
The simplese way for finding BADI is
1. chooes Tcode Program & package for that Tcode.
2. Go to Tcode se18
3. Press F4
4. search by package or by program.

Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps.
Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard drive at a Mac Authorized Repair.
Short history of repair and my Final Cut Pro installation:
1. Macbook Pro stopped working, sendt it for repair. Had the Final Cut Pro installed,
2. Desided to try a MiniMac and recovered my backup with Time Machine, got the Final Cut Pro working.
3. Got my Macbook Pro back from repair, did backup on this one as well. But this time only the files not the Applications.
4. Removed the files as mentioned in HT5149. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found.
5. When I try to install Final Cut Pro from App Store, it downloads the application as planned. But after download it won´t show in the Application folder nor in the downloads folder, nor will it start an installation prosess. If I pause the installation in App Store, I can see the Final Cut Pro icon in my Dock. (But, as mentioned, after installation it won´t show neither here or in the Applications folder).
Any suggestions on what I should try now?
Thanks for any reply, I´m in deep water here...Sounds like there is a file you're not getting. Never do a removal manually. It's so time consuming and a pain. There's a very easy and fast way to do this, safely, properly.
Get the free "Final Cut Remover" app from Digital Rebellion (dot com), use this to remove FCP X.
Reboot the Mac.
Download from scratch.
If you're not seeing FCP X in your app folder, run Disk Utility to Repair all drives.
If that doesn't help, try running Disk Warrior from Altsoft to repair the directories on all drives. -
By default, Teststand will not include the test step result in subsequence, is there any way to include these step results in report?

If your subsequence is in a separate sequencefile, then check the properties of the sequencefile to make sure that the record has not been disabled.

Can someone please give me a step-by-step guide on how to embed a video in my Indesign document? I've got CS4 and I've tried to follow Adobe's instructions. Even Creative Suite 4 for Dummies. But I can't get it to work. And yes, I understand the video will only play when exported as a pdf -- not in the indesign document. Help! Donna
